The Best Indian Restaurants in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"This fast-casual spot in East Nashville offers a build-your-own-bowl experience with your choice of masala rice, turmeric rice, naan, or mixed greens as the base; lamb, chicken, paneer, and chickpeas for proteins; and a variety of curries, sauces, and vegetables as toppings. You can also opt for one of Gully Boyz’s customizable kathi rolls — just make sure to follow it up with some gulab jamun (honeyed milk-dough balls) for dessert." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

I’m just mad at myself for not trying this place sooner. This is your chance to try delicious Pakistani food in Nashville. It’s set up similar to a Chipotle, where you go through the line and choose your: 1) protein, 2) curry 3) vegetable toppings 4) sauces. You can get this combination of ingredients in either a wrap or a bowl. I got a wrap and it was so good! And enormous! Also, I love how the wrap is made fresh right in front of you, rolled out from a ball of dough, flattened, and quickly cooked in an oven with a giant, turning, steel wheel. The place is super clean, well-designed, smartly branded, and the staff is sincerely nice and helpful. It’s a very fast meal on top of being quality food. I can’t wait to go back!

Want flavor? Yes! Delicious fresh food , upbeat and clean environment. Wonderful staff, amazing options and perfect portions. Don’t miss this place as a goto for grub! We came in to dine in, the menu was self explanatory, and easy to choose options. The also have side items and dessert. The plates are priced amazingly for the portion you receive.

Title: Delightful Fast-Casual Dining at Gully Boyz Rating: 5/5 Gully Boyz offers an exceptional fast-casual dining experience, serving a delectable blend of Indian and Pakistani cuisine that leaves a lasting impression. During our visit, we indulged in the chicken and lamb bowl, accompanied by a refreshing mango yogurt smoothie. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors, and the homemade garlic naan was a standout, perfectly complementing our meal with its fresh, warm, and aromatic goodness. The fast-casual style of Gully Boyz ensures a quick and efficient dining experience without compromising on quality. The vibrant and inviting atmosphere adds to the overall appeal, making it a great spot for a flavorful and satisfying meal. In summary, Gully Boyz excels in delivering mouthwatering Indian and Pakistani dishes in a fast-casual setting. With their delicious offerings and welcoming environment, it's a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of authentic flavors.

Fast tasty exciting Indian food in East Nashville. They have chicken lamb paneer options for bowls that can be filled with rice or naan. The rice is deliciously spiced. I strongly recommend getting the paneer pair it with the tomato onion curry for a umami bomb. With tons of options you can mix and match for dozens of meals before trying everything. The lamb also deserves mention as a tender well spiced addition. They also make several juices in-house conveniently bottled. The Mango Lasse is smooth sweet and delicious while the lemon nimbu paani is a energizing mix of surprising spices in a refreshing drink. Approach the counter to build your own meal and enjoy a seat in the spacious concrete and metal dining area. They do lack common sodas so if that's an issue take it to go. Overall I was very impressed with the service the delicious meats and curry. The price point at about 9 to 15 dollars seems reasonable for this area and the generous portion especially the bowl. I'll be back many times.

What an awesome concept! It’s the first time I’ve seen Middle Eastern cuisine served up so conveniently and it was some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. We went there for lunch while on vacation to Nashville and we were thoroughly impressed. Love the ‘Build a Bowl’ concept that allows you customize your dish to specific desires. Make sure to grab yourself some of the Juman balls as a dessert! We’ll definitely be hitting this place up again the next time we’re in town.

This is a very true story to a very well deserved review!!! So myself and my friends are based here in Indianapolis, Indiana. We hear about this new amazing restaurant that a friend of ours opened in Nashville. By car this is well over a four hour drive from Indy. Being that I love great food and don't have time to waste we fueled the plane, I grabbed six of my friends and rocked our way to Gully Boyz in Nashville. As we landed in style in under an hour we made our way quickly to our boys new spot. Shocked would be an understatement when we all arrived as the place was perfect. Brand new fresh looking and smelling amazing. Even more our Friend Q was even more shocked as we gave him no heads up. We were greeted like the celebrities we are but even more anyone who walked through the door. Just great welcoming energy that followed into a great design restaurant and open kitchen. Place is perfect! You can see how fresh everything is and I love that! Let's talk food, because we tried it all! Now not to speak against our group but normally we are loud and rowdy but at this moment everyone was silent as we chowed! Including myself! Getting our food flowed perfect, everything was hot and fresh, and the selection was amazing. So easy to customize what you wanted and how spicy you like it. Q was also so amazing to let us try some many items that just blew us away! Everyone just kept saying "we wish we had one in Indy". Following our amazing meal, we all just felt great and energized so decided to turn it up in Nashville. Turn it up we did!!! A day trip quickly turned into a two day trip. The stories are epic! To say the least we will be making the trip again for the food. I am so beyond proud of our boy Q and I can't truly say enough amazing things about Gully Boyz. The food speaks for itself! So fire up the jet and go!!! True Story! PS

Google
Finally made it to Gully Boyz today and I have been missing out! Such a great spot to get your Indian food fix and I’m so glad it’s in the neighborhood! I love being able to build a bowl and have been craving chicken tikka masala and this was PERFECT. The price for the portion you get is great too. Cannot wait to go back :)

Google
So glad these guys finally opened! Perfect hearty flavors for the cold season. Went their opening day and tried a few bowls as well as their beet paneer dish and the freshly made naan. What great flavors and quick service. Only complaint - not enough sauce on the bowls for the naan - so will just have to order extra on the side. Can’t wait to be back to try more.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Gully Boyz. It is fast casual, serving up fresh and bold flavors. I love the chipotle-bowl style with an East Asian twist. The ambiance inside is clean and sleek. The decor is fun and colorful, adding to the cool vibe. Service is friendly and kind, always taking their time to explain the process and dishes. If I could recommend one thing it would be their mango lassi, such a treat!

Yelp
Ever since moving to the Nashville area I've been seeing a lot on Gully Boyz. They do a good job marketing and getting their name out there. Unfortunately I wish I could compliment the food as well as they work on their local presence. Really wanted to love this place but just seemed to lack in a ton of flavor. The meal was dry, the Bowl was good but the meat and toppings were extremely dry and a few things missing because of lack of flavor. Gully boys has a ton of potential to improve a bit if they offered some more added ingredients and toppings.

Yelp
Build your own bowl, Chipotle style, but with Indian food! Loved this environment. Friendliest employees who took the time to explain everything and talk about the food. Really good customer service; even stopped by to ensure we liked our food. The taste was delicious, but the food was a little dry, which I think is common with places like this. Overall, I would go here again to support this place and try a different combination!

Yelp
I liked Gully Boyz. It was different from most places I've tried. It honestly was not what I expected. But it was good overall. Food was spicy and delicious. Also, a lot for me so I got to take some home. The lemonade was interesting. The black pepper made it taste odd at first. But as I kept drinking it I started to enjoy it more. I love the little message in the bathroom. It gave me a good laugh. And the people there are really nice and attentive.

Yelp
10/10 yum !!! Very cool vibe to the place plus amazing food plus free parking ??? I'm in. Think Chipotle but Indian food

Ellen M.

Yelp
This is a fire lunch spot! The paneer and chickpeas are delicious (they have great vegetarian options!) My partner got the chicken and loved it. I've had the wrap but today I got the naani today and it was so good!! The Samosa bombs and they were delicious! The fries were also fire!!! 12/10!

Yelp
I don't know why this place wasn't more busy!! It's like Chipotle or Cava but for Indian/Pakistani food. Everything was flavorful and beautiful. The folks who helped us were very kind and helpful. There's so many options to try here, I can't wait to come back and try more combinations!! It's also very vegetarian friendly

Yelp
The combination you can create in this fast casual joint is bold. Bold in flavor, texture, spice, and presentation. The service was fast and they are great in educating customers on the ingredients, tastes, and culture. This is a place is worth going back to, especially with VIP rewards.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and found it to be passable, but not my most favorite stop for food. I love the point-and-order concept, but both times the food was a bit watery and I wish it had more flavor. The rice was also undercooked to the point of being unpleasant. Because of the wateriness, I found that the wraps just got soggy before I could finish eating. We were hungry, so we ate it anyway. Maybe I caught them on a couple of off days - I'll update if I have better luck next time. Some things to know: PARKING & ACCESS - Parking is tricky since they're right on Main Street. There is street parking down most of the side roads in this area and limited street parking right out front. The door to the restaurant faces Main St and is well marked. INTERIOR - The restaurant is large, open, and a little echo-y. Some interesting decor makes it feel a bit less industrial, but I do wish there was a little more to absorb sound. ORDERING - This is the sort of assisted-salad-bar process you see at chipotle- or subway, where you choose your base item at the start of the line and then go down the line and tell the workers what you want to add. I've had workers who are very helpful and walk you through it and others who don't help you along so much. You can ask to taste just about anything before you add it to your order. You'll pay for your order, including sides and drinks, at the end of the line. Both for here and to go are the same process, although I think they also allow online to go orders. SEATING - They have tables for 2-4 people with metal chairs. It has not been very busy either time I've been, so there's been plenty of seating. RESTROOMS - I did not use the restroom while I was here to report.

Yelp
Think Chipotle but make it Indian. I built my own bowl with masala rice, chicken, saag, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeños, fried shallots, gully boyz sweet sauce, and gully boyz spicy sauce. It was so good! The chicken was tender, the bowl was plentiful, so many flavors popping. I bet if I got all the toppings, it would've been even better. I'm going to try that next time. I will say the spicy sauce is spicier than expected. It was a nice little surprise. The masala fries were good. The garlic naan I could've skipped. It wasn't garlicky enough for me. Whenever I want Indian food, I'll be sure to come here and nowhere else.

Yelp
Mango lazzi was to dye for. Loved that the takeout food kept warm with their packaging

Yelp
So good! Super friendly staff! First time trying Gully Boyz and I was not disappointed. I built a bowl with paneer and Kadai curry and all the toppings--killer! The garlic naan was a hit too. Don't forget to grab a bottle of their own bottled mango lassi. Go support Gully Boyz!

Yelp
A true hidden gem! Everything here was so good and such a good deal. Highly recommend if you're looking for quick and tasty food that won't make you feel weighed down. Can't stop thinking about all the amazing flavors and spices, we got the lamb and paneer bowls and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
At 7 pm on a Friday night the fact that I was the only customer in was my first red flag. The online pick up was simple enough and the staff that was working was friendly. It was easier to place the order than to find a place to park to go pick it up. The food was eh at best, the Kathi rolls were decent. But the bowls tasted off, the rice was overcooked in mine and undercooked on my partners .

Yelp
I stopped by before the Nashville Snowmaggedon, knowing that I needed something warm before being stuck at home all weekend. I had heard good things about this place...likened to an "Indian food Chipotle" of sorts. Sounds fire. Count me in. I walked in, and it was a little bit after lunch time, and it was pretty empty. I think the upcoming snow scared a lot of people away. I asked the GM, Red to surprise me. There are SO many options and he did not disappoint. There was a base of really well seasoned rice and some chicken and lamb on my bowl along with what I think was the tikka masala sauce. The garlic naan was freshly made on a spinning oven and seeing it puff up and cook while my bowl was being made was really cool. I also ordered a mango lassi that looks like it's made here in Nashville, especially since I knew this bowl was going to be a little spicy. I took this to go, and honestly the only issue I had with this place was that the mango lassi had WAY too much cardamom. The fresh mango flavor got lost and overshadowed by the spice. I really could only take a few sips before it overwhelmed my palate. Can't wait to see what this place does in the future though. It's a solid place and has GENEROUS portions.

Yelp
I don't know why Gully Boyz isn't crushing it. I hope they are doing a ton of takeout because we need this to survive. They deliver delicious and healthy, I think, Indian food to the East Side. Both times I have gone vegan and I was not disappointed! The space is clean and if you go in person you can build your bowl chipotle style. It's also a great meal before a show at the Basement East. It's fast, affordable, service was wonderful, and again, very tasty. I highly recommend you give it a try!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
We've walked/driven by this place a few times and had been excited to try it--so when a friend suggested takeout, we jumped at the chance to each choose our own meal from here! The different bowl options make it easy for everyone to customize with all the veggies and sauces they like, which is great. The option to order online is terrific, too. All three of us enjoyed our bowls, and the naan (regular and garlic) we got on the side was tasty. Would definitely recommend you try it!
google avatar

Kali M.

Yelp
Food was good, Star was very friendly and helpful. They allowed me to try a lot of things. I'd never been there and am unfamiliar with many of the options I enjoyed everything except the mango lassi but I think that was just down to preference. I will definitely come again soon!

Yelp
Came here on a weekday evening around 8PM, shared a kati roll with a friend and got a bowl as well. The kati roll had chickpeas with vegetable broth along with all the fixins except for cilantro. The bowl had half lamb, half paneer with kadai (tomato and onion) sauce. The jalapenos in both made it really spicy, but it was delicious. Sauces were tasty, chickpeas were awesome. The paneer was rubbery and the lamb was too repetitive after eating it for a while. Big portions (got both with salad) and tasty, quite affordable too. Place was pretty much empty when we arrived, person at the counter was very friendly.

Yelp
We came here at an odd time for an early dinner and had the place to ourselves! The decor is so cool and colorful. There was a beautiful impressionist portrait mural that kept catching my eye. We didn't really know what to expect as far as flavors. None of us are huge fans of Indian food, but this hit the spot. Each of my children enjoyed Kathi rolls and loved them! We had a few orders of the Samosa Bombs, which were pretty good. And my husband and I each built our own bowls. The food tasted fresh and was flavorful, without an overpowering curry taste. I also appreciated that they had a lot of gluten free items on their menu! The GM was our "server" and helped us pick out what might be appropriate for the kids, and even let my husband try one of the curry sauces before adding it to his bowl. He was super patient and helpful. My only ask of this place would be to add an actual kids menu and some sides that are more kid-friendly (not spicy). We had fun trying something new and would definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Tried Gully Boys for the first time and I will definitely be back. The location is great, very clean and welcoming! Expect the chipotle experience with a friendlier staff and better food. Do not skip the naan - they make it to order. I also got an order of samosa bombs but they were not my favorite, probably won't order again. 8/10

Yelp
I could go on and on, this place is incredible! Super clean, open, modern, but you come here to eat right? The food is so fresh, flavorful and you create your own bowl or kathi (like a thin, Indian burrito). They have a variety of house made sauces, I tried each one, all really good and add something different flavor wise. They had a number of house made drinks but I didn't try them on this visit. Best thing, we ate well, got plenty, but don't feel all full and gross. I'll be back often, my fave place in this area now.
google avatar

Kimberley M.

Yelp
Yummy and fairly fresh. Chipotle-style Indian food, and really tasty. Fair price for the East side at $15 once you get the additions and fixings. I had the lamb in a wrap. Wrap dough was made fresh but it was messy as $&@k. They kindly offered cutlery which made sense after my first two messy bites. We enjoyed it, but I think the bowl is more bang for your buck and less messy. The portions were a bit small in the wrap. Besides that, the flavors were truly on point.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Great food and the flavor is incredible! Always great service and adding new options to the menu. The nannies are bomb!
google avatar

CJ C.

Yelp
MUST try this place. It is so good and so fresh. The naan is incredible and fresh. You HAVE to get the gulab dessert. If you like curry, they have spicy and non spicy options. Different meats and toppings to choose from. Fast, fresh and healthy!

Althobaiti M.

Yelp
Hi ,,,,,,,,,,,, Average taste, not healthy with oil they soaked food with be careful thanks
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
Very pricy for what you get. $13 Kati roll was a over cooked thin bread that broke apart near immediately. The veggie portions were sprinklings of cucumbers and picked onions. Nearly $30 for lunch for two without drinks. More money was spent on the marketing, graphics, and hype than in providing a filling meal.
google avatar

Abhi G.

Yelp
Forgot to take a picture because we downed our food so fast!!! But amazing! Loved the concept of bringing Indian food to Nashville with a chipotle style twist. The service was great, definitely service with a smile! Easy fun and good! I'm vegetarian and they had a bunch of vegetarian options. Still want to try the drinks and dessert next time, they remind me of the drinks I would have back home at my parents house! Was way too full from the bowl, but definitely next time!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Incredible food and excellent customer service! I've travelled to India several times and this brought back so many memories as I ate.

Shelly P.

Yelp
First, forgive me for offering zero pictures of my meal, I downed it quickly and realized afterwards that I wanted to make a post on here about it. I'd heard mixed reviews about Gully Boyz, and I wondered, if the general public were on the fence, would my picky South Asian palate be satiated? I decided to take a chance and BOY was that a good decision. Y'all--this South Asian put-it-all-in-a bowl Chipotle-like restaurant hits the SPOT. I got a mix of chicken and chick peas on masala rice, all the veggie toppings, the raita, tamarind, and mint sauces--and here's the key, if you want the Indian kick that can be missing in a lot of American Indian restaurants, get the Gully Boys Spicy Sauce. It's beautiful. I ordered a Naan to eat with it and it made a complete, happy meal.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Gully Boyz is my go to Chicken Tikka! They're fast, fresh, and delicious. Also branching out into other flavors makes this place an exciting addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Jeremy D.

Yelp
Great service and tasty food served in big portions! The flavors are pretty good, though the saag had kind of creamed spinach thing going on and the tikka masala was a little bit too close to marina for my taste. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting and not exactly my preference. This is a good addition to the neighborhood and I'll be back.

Evelyn A.

Yelp
New favorite restaurant. Delicious Indian food. Ive missed my Indian buffets since covid. This is the next best thing. Delicious Indian food served with the 'bowl' concept that everybody is crazy for. So many delicious sauces and condiments to choose from. Tastes like home cooked Indian. Yum!

Chris L.

Yelp
Gully Boyz is one of my favorite lunch spots. I get a chicken bowl and the flavor that is in these bowls is incredible. Can add more sweet or spicy. They give you a very generous portion of food, and unlike other bowl places like chipotle, a very healthy portion of the actual protein. Go to Gully Boyz. Thank you for food! Happy to be a new regular.

Dana M.

Yelp
Great idea, but execution is lacking. Flavor is bland. Ingredients could be fresher. Service and ambiance are nice, although we were the only ones in restaurant for lunch on a Saturday.

Traci W.

Yelp
New fave for building a bowl. Plus Saag and Naan! Quick bite hit the spot. Clean environment and friendly staff

Tu T.

Yelp
Gully Boyz is your place to go for Indian causal food ! It's fresh , flavorful and convenience. Im not Indian and don't know what Indian Home cooked meals taste like but I do know what is fresh and full of flavors taste like and Gully Boyz deliveries all ! We order at least two or three times a month since they opened and we can't get enough of it .

Yelp
If you want Indian (or Pakistani) food, don't come here. It's not even close. The sauces aren't great and the spice is just not there. If you do taste the spice, very quickly you'll also taste water as well. It's hard to explain just as it was confused when eating it. Save yourself the trouble. I went with a large group and everyone there had similar feedback regarding the taste and flavor. The kids even tried the Mango Lassi, which I figured probably wouldn't be good either and that was the case; They threw it away. We were quite disappointed at this place, unfortunately. We came here, because it was a new spot and but it wasn't for us. There are better places out there.

Jill M.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. This has been on the list of places to visit for a while now and finally made it happen. Oh the flavors!!! Food was wonderful and very satisfying. The service was great. The restaurant is casual, hip, had great background music, and is super clean! Give it a try!!!

Vernon S.

Yelp
Great new spot, with good food and really friendly workers. Get the garlic naan for sure.

John D.

Yelp
Great food! I love Pakistani and Indian food. This is a great place to get those flavors.

Brandon G.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the staff was super friendly. If you are in East Nashville, I would recommend you try out the Lamb Tikka Masala!

Gerald B.

Yelp
I stopped in for my first time a little after lunch time and it was busy. The only had two employees working and they did a great job managing the foot traffic and getting everyone's orders. Not to mention they were very friendly. I did the build-a-bowl option and opted for the masala rice, halal chicken, masala sauce and all the toppings. And the food was amazing! I don't know much about Indian Food, but the dish I got was amazing and delicious. I will definitely be back.

Zoee M.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Indian food and was excited about the concept of the restaurant when I heard about it. Atmosphere and customer service was great. HOWEVER they masala sauce really needs revamped. It tastes way too marina-esc so half the time you're in a haze wondering if your eating Indian food or spaghetti rice. I think this would be a great spot if they tried to authenticate the recipes more.
