Let me tell you this is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants we have been to. The food is super delicious and staff was super welcoming and friendly! I would recommend it to the fullest!

Very friendly staff . Food is amazing. Small dining area , take out would be better. The closest chow mein to R-N chinese food when it was in tulare .

Went here Christmas Eve (they were open until 9pm that night). Place was not busy and parking is ample. The owners were very nice and greeted us. The husband is more on the outspoken side, but in a nice way. I ordered a combo rice plate and a drink. The portion was generous and the food was good with good amount of protein. Overall, a decent spot. No frills, nothing that stands out. Just a good Chinese spot. Check them out.

Gumbo Chinese surprised us — in the best way We weren’t totally sure what to expect with a name like Gumbo Chinese, but this place came through — big time. We ordered the ginger beef and pan-fried noodles, and both were solid hits. The ginger beef was bold, savory, and just the right kind of spicy-sweet. The noodles had great flavor, and while I personally wish they were a bit crispier, my wife really liked the texture just as it was — and she’s not easy to impress when it comes to noodles, so that says something. We also got the orange chicken with chow mein, and that combo absolutely delivered. Crispy, flavorful chicken, paired with those noodles made it one of my wife’s favorite dishes of the night. Overall? Gumbo Chinese is a low-key gem. Flavor-forward, generous portions, and clearly made with care. Next time I’ll just ask for extra-crispy noodles, but either way — we’re definitely coming back. 5 stars, no hesitation.

Great amount of food for the price of the 2 entrees combo. Customer services were amazing and loved the owners. They are friendly and welcoming. The food was alright. I got the Mongolia beef, Szechuan Spicy Beef, shrimp walnut, and orange chicken with chowmein. It's not the best Chinese food I had in town, but it's worth a try. Taste is mostly soy sauce, other wise the flavor of the food is not so unique from each other. Definitely quantity but not quality.

This is the best Chinese food place in the entire valley. I'm amazed at how few people know about this wonderful place. It is a true culinary treasure that you must experience. This is the only place I will eat Chinese food at. The owners are wonderful and friendly with fast, clean, courteous, and affordable service with very generous portions of excellent good. Anyone who appreciates good food must try this place.

We always see this little restaurant and today we finally stopped by to try it out. And oh my gosh soo much flavor! She said “15 mins” and the food was ready in 8. Totally recommend trying this place out. We will totally be coming back again!

One of the best Chinese food Restaurants in Visalia. Hands down the best service they're family friendly. Always feel very welcome. Food always very fresh & contrary to other Chinese restaurants the food is not greasy. I would 100% recommend coming here.

One extra star for the nice customer service and 2 for the food. This food has NO flavor. I should have known by the color of the chow mien The beef on the beef and broccoli was all fatty. I am so disappointed. The decent thing was the orange chicken and that's it. It's a small place with a few tables but no one was there around dinner time on a busy Saturday. Like I mentioned the lady was super sweet. It's been really hard to find decent Chinese food in the Central Valley. Won't be going back again.

Good and flavorful. Service was really nice. I tried the eggrolls and those were fine. I wouldn't eat inside as it was humid, they had a swamp cooler, and not as clean as it could be. It just felt sticky in there all around. But quality of food and portions is well done.

Came back for a couple lunch specials and everything was fresh and delicious. The broccoli chicken was super flavorful and the sweet n sour chicken was crispy and so good! Service was great, the woman at the front register is so friendly.

WHY IS THIS PLACE UNDERRATED?! Someone pls upload the newest menu! holy cow! The serving portions are generous - obviously bigger than that panda spot. So glad I decided to support a local spot! All of the food was delicious, well flavored & well seasoned! Not too greasy/just right! In this economy these spots are very worth your while! The cashew chicken - wow let me tell you this felt like a clean meal with white rice, two portions worth at least! And from 11-3 it's at their killer deal pricing. There was less sauce on this compared to other places but I'm happy with it because the flavor was allll there. The variety of veggies I got mushrooms, Celery, carrots, water chestnuts & onions really delivered. My new go-to favorite! The combo plate - I love when each entree has its own distinct flavoring. Wow they do use jalapeños and red chiles so feel free to poke them out and then enjoy (the flavor coming from the chili's was incredible and well appreciated - I just won't eat the red ones! Made that mistake as a child) the sauce was incredible for both kung pao and Mongolian. Also- you can add chicken to your fried rice and or chicken chow mein, or pan fried noodles for a little more! So worth it for added protein :) BONUS ! They don't make anything until you order it so all your food is equally very warm and fresh! Will be returning! Also my mans said the lady was so nice as everyone mentioned and she packed everything into a box for easier carrying! Talk about customer service. Phone order went smoothly too. Thank you gumbo kitchen! People who seem to upset and rate this spot with less stars appear to want much much more than what they pay for or appear IMO

Amazing been eating here for years!!! I am a regular the prices are right, and the beef Szechuan is the best, the Almond chicken is also really good. Not a huge fan of the orange chicken, but other than that everything else is a really good bet. I love the people there too they're always so sweet. Closed on Mondays

I live their food prepped right behind counter! The service is always great!! They are so nice and very friendly! and dinning area is clean. Take out is always fast and on time! And they serve a lot of food for your money!!

This is one of my many hidden gems. I usually order every week or every other week. The food is always hot & tasty. I always get the chow mein with orange chicken and the schezwan beef.i at times get the rice but it depends on my mood. I usually order thru the phone and pick it up at the time they say and always ready to go. I love that they make it as you order. My brother is now a regular here[= guilty!!! but it's worth it. The family here is always nice & welcoming. They seem very thankful and looking forward to your next visit. The orange chicken has so much flavor and cooked to its best. The schezwan beef is a bit spicy but gives it a good kick and balances the food. It's one of my favorite combos, sweet and spicy. The portions are great to share.I usually share it with my 6 year old. They have lunch options if you want to give it a try & don't want to risk the full portion. Thank you guys for always making my food in a timely manner and always delicious.

Probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants because of the food, portion size, and good customer service. I called and ordered ahead of time. Food was ready quick and the flavors were all there. The orange chicken and chow mein were on point. Kung Pao chicken had the right amount of spice. Eggrolls we're stuffed and heavy. It's a small restaurant and the name can be deceiving. I've passed by this little restaurant many times before ordering here and have always thought it was some Louisiana Cajun food kind of restaurant. Overall experience was great! This place definitely deserves more recognition.

The food and service here is amazing! Huge portions! We usually get orange chicken, broccoli beef and chow mein. Want to to try something new one day but those are so good it's hard to change our order. 12/10

I haven't been to Gumbo in so long and I live super close to them! With the pandemic, I have been rotating going to small business restaurants to support them and Gumbo came up and I glad I chose them! They were masks, had the plastic safeguard between the cashier and the BEST PART is they cook the food when it's ordered! Super fresh and super yummy! If you're looking for amazing Chinese food that is COVID compliant, Gumbo Kitchen!!

BEST CHINESE FOOD IN THIS AREA. Seriously highly underrated. Might not look like the most kempt place but just order your food Togo and eat in the comfort of your own home. I called several places on a Sunday evening and these guys were the only ones who picked up. Took my ordering an understandable fashion and had everything ready to go piping hot within minutes! On top of that, the food was actually really GOOD. Your standard Chinese takeout, everything you expect while watching a movie on the couch. Will definitely return and recommend!

My husband, Taylor, has been coming here for years and when we started dating he took me here for the Orange Chicken and noodles. The Chinese restaurant was small and quaint but boasts a damn good serving of food. The lady that I assume runs the place is always there and greets us with the happiest smile. I really appreciate that kind of welcoming. Makes you feel at home. Our whole family loves this place. Both our daughters love the orange chicken and noodles. Something so simple satisfies the pickiest palette of our 7 and 2 year old. PS. I love their fried rice with the orange chicken. Nom Nom Nom!

The costumer service here is amazing, they talked to us right away and made our food quickly. The noodles tasted so fresh, we saw them make it in front of us. For sure underrated.

This place is great. I ordered an entire order for my company and the lady at the front was respectful and had one of the best attitudes I've ever dealt with. She got our order done quickly and the food tastes great. The food was good and you get quite a lot for your money. Very pleasant place that smelled good as soon as you walked in.

I love this lil hole in the wall place. Small and simple ... the lady is so sweet and respectful. Food is a good portion for really not that much. I can practically have lunch for dinner with the legit leftovers overs. I've never been disappointed the times I've come and as long as it's here, I'll always come here for a good lunch. Thank you

I actually really love this place! They have a spicy tofu which I really enjoy! And the prices are extremely well priced. The service is so great and Ming is probably one of my favorite humans ever! She loves America's Got Talent just as much as I do and even put it on the tv for me and we enjoyed our time! The food was great and the environment is very welcoming! I would prefer to get the food on a plate because I try to reduce my plastic/styrofoam intake but we did come a little late so maybe they were just planning for takeout. But besides that I will most definitely be coming back because I really enjoyed this place!

Food is made to order, nice and hot. The curry chicken was delicious. Definitely coming back , service was nice.

This place is heaven! I'm not sure why it has such a low score of reviews. The owner is so personable, food is VERY reasonably priced, and I'm pretty sure my single plate of food is going to last me 3 days. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend the war won ton soup, too. I am under the weather and all these veggies and broth hit the spot.

After visiting this place three times in a short amount of time (within a month), I can say this has got to be my go-to Chinese place. Fast service. Cheap prices. Amazing food. You order at the front, whether you dine in or to go. You could even call your order but why? You'll get your order within minutes anyways but if you must, then you should call. Their menu isn't extensive, only features the best of what they offer. You need to try their Mongolian beef over noodles. It's stir fry beef, onions, veggies in a delicious sauce (don't mind the whole dried chilies, it gives it flavor but not slice, just don't eat it!). They make it right after you order. They take the "we don't make it until you order it" motto by heart! You'll even have enough for another meal so it's worth a shot!

The most delicious orange chicken ever. Great pricing! It looked like a family based restaurant and they were super nice. Great hospitality! The wait was about 10-15 minutes.

Now this place is good the lunch special is everything but in general it's great .. I wouldn't say the best I ever had but definitely the best I've tasted in Visalia.. I come from the Bay Area n everyone else has disappointed me so far including canton on Main Street lum Lums on center and Chinese kitchen on walnut is pretty plain ..

Best Chinese food place in town!! Food is great. Way better than Panda Express. It's fresh and made after you order it. The prices are cheap for a large portion of food. It's owned by a nice and friendly Chinese family. Service there is great! You get your food fast! It's secretly hidden in a small plaza next to a big staples. Not much costumers around, people are missing out on the fantastic Chinese food here! So when you're hungry and craving some orange chicken, this is the place to go!!

Small, clean place. Very friendly woman behind the counter helped with the food selection. Settled on the salt & pepper chicken. The food was fresh tasting with the right amount of spices. Will definitely go back and try the other dishes. Don't overlook this place!

Have been going here for years but they have "new management" as they told us. We got carry out tonight... The food was not nearly as good as it was last time we ordered. It has gone totally downhill. I hope they read this and fix things because the "new management" just broke our previously favorite place to get Chinese food. I do not usually give a bad review unless it is legit bad and, since I know what they were before, yes, sorry, it is baaaad now.

Evidently this restaurant has changed hands. It went from fantastic to less than mediocre. I had been eating woh won ton soup from here for years, not any more. Everything tasted the same. Veggies, meat and won tons were equally bland. And the prices are through the roof. $6.50 is now $10. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I looked on yelp for help on a place to eat and it had 4 stars ... no way I would not come back this is a hole in the wall place food was not the business I did not like it and would not recommend anyone to eat here.....

Been going to this business for over 30 yrs. Of course it's changed ownership but the food is not as good. The fried rice is dry and very little flavor. I ordered pork and got chicken in both the rice and chow mein. Staff is friendly and helpful but not impressed with the food. The wife ordered Kung pow chicken with steamed rice. She enjoyed the food and said the rice was excellent. Try it you might like it. Check your order before you leave.
