Literally just left here with my dad for his birthday lunch. The food was great our waitress was so sweet and attentive! It’s a clean establishment, once again the food was delicious! We’ll definitely be back !

Simply put Gummy's is the Best of Soul Food around! You will not go wrong with any meal you get from Gummy's! Your taste buds will jump out your mouth just to thank you hooking the taste buds up, yea their offerings are that darn gon good 💪🏿🙌🏿 Now let's dive in! Food : ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟's • For their food, I give them 5 🌟's..! Seriously ain't nothing to explain! Yea it's that Darn-Gon-Goooood...!!! Service : ⭐⭐⭐'s • For their service I gave them three stars. Reason for that is because : 1. • location -the food is banging and but their location doesn't match the vibe their food brings! • Location again- the place is nice on the inside it caters to a maximum 50 of people. But It's mostly ideal for couples and small families of 3-4 people. • Location Again- (Outside) : As said earlier their location doesn't do them any favors more does it match the vibe the food brings! They're located in like an big apartment house that's been gutted to accommodate businesses, and the pavement leading up to the location is all beat up, potholes here and there and lose pavement! These things combined are not good for customers vehicles! 2. • Wait Time : their wait times is a killer! From 30 mins up to almost 2 hrs wait time of the day is overly busy for them. I'm not exactly sure but by my count I think their staff consist of 5-6 people! So far I've only put eyes on 4. But either way their food is way too good, for the place to be small as it is and the wait time does them no favors! Atmosphere : ⭐⭐⭐'s Size of Restaurant • I give them 3 stars and the reason why is because the place is to small! This food is darn gon good so you know folks gonna wanna come and bring families! The place can't cater to many or big families with big orders! As I wrap this up, I must say Gummy's food is an enjoyment and it has been a while since I've been in Virginia (3yrs now) looking for a great soul food spot to cater to my wife soul food tastes! I pray that Gummy's receives all the support from the Father our Abba Yahuah in the name of the Holy Lamb Yahusha HaMashiach and his Rauch Hokodesh (Holy Spirit) that you all get the location you need that matches the great vibe your food brings with all the space needed to accommodate your customers of large families, with the parking spaces to keep their vehicles! We went again today and it was excellent as always. Food cooked to order so takes a little longer than non fresh. Believe me it's well worth the wait. The portions/servings are large. Atmosphere is so laid back and pleasant we just vibed to the music as we talked. This made the wait go by quickly. Staff be hustling tho but keep a smile on their faces and answer questions from guests with patience. If u want some great home cooking Gummy's is for u! I was so busy digging into my plate I forgot to get a pic of my hubs fried fish lol

All I can say is WOW! The service, food, and cleanliness of this place is immaculate! Definitely worth the price and wait! But hold on I have to go back to the food! Man! I got fried shrimp, Mac and cheese, and yams and when I say it’s finger licking good! I was closing my eyes and dancing when I took a bite of everything lol definitely highly recommend!!!

My family and I have been loyal customers here, but that will end! I will be telling everyone to no longer support them moving forward. My grand mother was really disappointed with her experience here recently. She orders the same meal every time, this time the chicken was extremely salty, I even tasted it and spit it out and when she politely mentioned it to the staff, they were rude and dismissive instead of trying to make it right. We expected better customer service and a bit of courtesy. We Definitely will not be coming back.

I’m giving them a 5 star even though the food was a bit salty(that’s my personal opinion). I had the Fish, mac and cheese and cabbage. My husband had the fish as well but with collards and ac and cheese. Soon as you walk in the door we were greeted and they were ready to take our order. Everything was fresh and hot. I wanted to try the turkey wing but they were all out😩 However, I will be returning to give them another try!

Fantastic food with excellent service and a great atmosphere! The chicken wings were spectacular and some of the best mac n cheese I've had! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for home cooking!

Best seafood restaurant I've ever been to. I picked at my food because I didn't want to eat it too fast lol the daughters of the owner were fantastic the food was perfectly seasoned the sweet tea perfectly sweet. I couldn't rave enough about the food I can't wait to go back. Oh the music slamming. Not loud at all its such a welcoming atmosphere. I had fried chicken yams & mac n cheese got 2 desserts too.

I had taste for Turkey wings today. I tried calling in few times but was unsuccessful. I took the chance and drove to Gummy's and to my surprise...they were backed up with orders. I placed our orders and it was a 50 minute wait. We didn't mind because we time to kill. People were already inside waiting on their orders. Gratuity is included in the price. The place is cozy and small inside. The food is very seasoned and decent size portions. I will continue to return for home cooking soul food.

Tucked away to feel like a secret spot but easy enough to find, pull in between the Goodyear and the Latino Market and you'll see Gummy's on the left. I was disappointed to learn I couldn't place an order online and I attempted to call twice but was left on hold for 5 minutes each time. Instead, we stopped by in person and placed the order which was ready in about 20 minutes. Seating up to about 50 people. It's very clean inside and smells like grandma's kitchen on a Sunday afternoon. The lady taking our order was very pleasant and spoke to everyone with a smile. Fried fish, greens, Mac and Cheese, and potato salad. Oh! Can't forget about the moist rum cake! Everything was great - next time, I hope to dine in-person.

In the area visiting family in the hospital, I was trying to find something close by to eat and come right back. I found Gummy's right around the corner and called my order in for baked chicken, Mac and cabbage just based on the Yelp pictures, I knew it would be good. The location is in a house right behind the good year if you're like me and not familiar with the area. They have some seating inside and the food is amazing!

Order: Fried Shrimp + Mac & Cheese + Yams Upon placing my order it said my sides were included w/ the meal ($27) So why was there an upcharge for Mac & Cheese? Why was there 15% gratuity added on a takeout order? I left paying $32 for this meal, and they got one of my sides wrong. The food is decent but not for this price . I won't be back. And it gave me diarrhea

We tried this restaurant for the first time and was truly pleased. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated for a pleasing dining experience. We were greeted upon arrival and seated promptly. Our appetizer order was taken and before they came out our meal order was taken. Our food came out and was to our liking. The chicken wings were fresh and nicely seasoned. The fish (whiting) and shrimp were seasoned well and cooked just to my liking. Between us we both had the yams that tasted out of this world. The cabbage was lightly seasoned and not water logged. The greens were fresh (not canned) and seasoned just right. If you're looking for a homestyle restaurant this is definitely the place to go

Worth the wait!!! Very intimate location , Black Owned, courtesy is their middle name. Food is made to order as if you were at your grandmothers/grandfathers house for Sunday dinner. Open on weekends , Sunday is typically the most busy ... thank me later , stop on by.

I had the turkey wings dinner and let me just say--it was divine! The flavor was out of this world. They seasoned everything perfectly, and you can tell they really take pride in their cooking. Every bite was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious.

Great soul food without having to go all the way into the city, tastes just like I'm eating my family's Sunday dinner!!

Hey everyone, I'm back to give a straight forward review on a new restaurant. For this review, it is my plan to share with you the good, the bad and ugly of my experience at Gummys Home Cooking. The Good: Hospitality- Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by the hostess who also doubles as a server. She was friendly and asked if everything was fine at our table. Speed of Service- After placing my order, it took roughly 20 minutes for the food to come out. The food was hot and fresh! The Bad: The Taste- The overall taste of the food wasn't bad, but it was somewhat inconsistent. I ordered the fried wings with Mac and Cheese and collard greens. The greens were somewhat salty with a lot of stems in them. The Mac and cheese was somewhat tasty, but it tasted like it was heated up in the microwave. The chicken wings were a little on the salty side but I had no problem finishing them. Price- The menu items price have increased since last year. My meal cost $20, which is ok for 4 wings and two sides. But each meal ordered at the restaurant has 18% gratuity added to it. On top of that, when you receive your bill, there is a line for the tip and the minimum suggested percentage for the tip is 18%. So if you're taking a date to this restaurant, you could easily end up paying $55+ and the only thing included in the service is having an employee bring your food and drinks to the table. To me, it's just a little greedy. Ugly: N/A Overall- This is one of the only soul food places available on Midlothian Turnpike. It's only opened on the weekends and my experience was OK. I think with a little tweaking to the salt levels of the food, this place could be in the running to compete with Mama J's. I think some people will like the food, but some people may not like the prices. Feel free to check it out.

I went here with my best friend 2 Sundays ago because we were craving soulfood and Gummy's did not disappoint! My food was so good I purposely didn't eat it all just so I could have more for later. I ordered my wings fried hard and it had the perfect amount of crunch. And if you have to choose between Mac and yams don't! Get both. My best friend ordered the yams and I ordered the Mac and the combination is heavenly! My best friend even dipped her remaining chicken in the yam juice (so that should explain it all). Also she NEVER and I mean NEVER in the 7 years I've known her eats all her food in one sitting. She completely emptied her plate! Cons: -small parking lot -We were a little sad there were no dessert options we liked (only German chocolate cake was left). But we did dine in about 2 hours before their closing time so we weren't upset and probably didn't need the extra calories anyway haha -My greens were just a tad bit saltier than I like them but the flavor was great overall Pros: -The atmosphere, it honestly felt like I was having dinner with my family -The service! I should've asked her name but the woman working up front was phenomenal. She let us know we could sit anywhere and took our order and served us. She checked on us and even checked with the kitchen for available items before we placed our orders. I even met one of the owners (Mike I think) and a cook. I loved how personable every one was -The food!!! My chicken was cooked perfectly and it was fresh and hot. So hot it put a hole in the styrofoam container (Now that I think about it I appreciated the food being served in the styrofoam container because you know it hasn't been reused). The roll was the perfect touch to the meal (best eaten hot) and I'm so glad I was able to try the shrimp too. They were large size so it made the perfect addition to our meals. -Employees are masked as are patrons and they provide the menu under the glass topping to each table 100/10 recommend and once I'm done dieting I will absolutely be back to support this small, black owned business!

Tucked away on Midlothian Turnpike, this little spot serves big flavor!! I invite anyone who likes good home cooked food to try it. You won't regret it.

My experiences have always been great until on 1/24/25, the owner was rude when I asked what's taking so long for my condiments. If they were prepared before opening , then I wouldn't had to wait until they were prepared in plastic cups. She asked, did you request condiments? Really, I spent $240 at your restaurant , and you are being rude over condiments that you should have had ready. No, but they should have been ready with the order. Tartar for fish, ketchup for fries, and cocktail sauce for shrimps! Everything should have been ready especially, because I specifically told her I'm picking the orders up on my lunch break. I called to make sure the order was ready before I left work and her response was come on before your food gets cold. However, it's okay for my food to get cold while I wait an additional 10 minutes while condiments are prepared. More staff and better customer service is needed. I will be going back, and hopefully she will prep before opening and have more staff, so she won't have to be rude.

The food at Gummy's was delicious. I tried the baked chicken, collard greens and yams. Absolutely the best soul food in town. The owner and team were so helpful and accommodating. I would recommend Gummy's for dining in, take out and I would ask about catering. Desserts galore! So, it appears Gummy's has been open a while but it's just becoming popular from a local Facebook food group. I love some good soul food and was finally able to make it by during hours that they were open. We got there slightly before 5:30. I wanted the baked chicken and they were out. Understandable. So I opted for wings, cabbage, and Mac n cheese. My boyfriend got pork chops and a million sides lol Mac n cheese, yams, greens, and rice. We ordered to go so we sit inside until it was ready. All the ladies are super friendly. My boyfriends meal was ready first. They bring it out and show you. While waiting on mine, they ran out of Mac n cheese so I ended up getting a side of rice and gravy. Got home... everything was still hot and amazing! I had 5 wings... not sure if that's what you normally get but I could only eat 3. Mine came with hush puppies that were good (they have corn in them). Boyfriends meal came with cornbread which he said was good. I will most definitely be back when I'm craving some soul food

The food was good. Well seasoned. The table had fried chicken, yams, greens, cabbage, Mac and cheese, turkey wings, and desserts. We liked all of the food. The desserts were our least favorite. Service was nice. Very friendly and treated us like we were regulars even though it was our first time. Place was nicely decorated. Felt like we had Sunday dinner at grandma's modern farm house.

Omg, Gummy's was so delicious!!! Everything tasted like grandma made it. Service was great and the wait for the food was reasonable. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. I will definitely be back.

My husband Googled soul food while we was in midlothian! we found gummy's and I think we will forever go there! the service was great! we have a 2 year old and we all know they can be a bit much! they was very nice to her! The food was wonderful! I ordered fish, shrimp, Mac and cheese and collard greens! my baby had a grilled cheese and fries, the best grilled cheese I've had! the portions are great! we definitely will be back!

Perhaps the singularly best soul food spot in RVA, but definitely in Chesterfield County. The hours are Friday -Sunday from 12 - 7pm. The staff is very hospitable. The establishment is quaint, but intimate enough to have a nice date with your significant other. The food is so well-seasoned, from the chicken wings to the fish, to the shrimp and turkey wings. The sides remind me of being at my grandmother's house during Thanksgiving. The aromas will have you salivating in an awesome anticipation for what awaits you. The prices are a little high, but the portion sizes are commensurate. They are located on the eastern side of Midlothian Turnpike behind the Goodyear Tire place. You will NOT want anything else other than Gummy's. I'm heading there today after church.

My son and I ended up getting gummy's to go one weekend for dinner and oh my lanta!!! We usually have great Conversation at the dinner table but we were enjoying our food so much you could hear anything dropped around us! Everything we got was so well seasoned and there was plenty of food to last us and the service was great as well!

This was my first time eating there and I must say the food is absolutely the best I have had at a soul food restaurant in Richmond! If I could, I would give an infinite number of stars. Not only did I get large portions, but everything was nice and hot! The fried chicken wings were seasoned perfectly resulting in a flavor that blew my mind! The yams were sweet and perfect too. Everyone can't make potato salad, but the potato salad was awesome too. To top my meal off, the cornbread was deliciously soft and melted in my mouth! Needless to say I will be returning to try a different entree and will continue to do so until I get a taste of everything on the menu! To the owner and staff, thank you for being soo awesome!

This is a hidden gem. The fish and shrimp is delicious and the sides were too. I will definitely be back.

Good home cooking!!!!! The best soul food restaurant. The food is delicious . The atmosphere is very nice. The staff was very friendly. We couldn't wait to eat the food so thats why the pictures was taken after we ate some .You must try this place!!!

Customer services was amazing. I was greeted so warmly when I came in. The atmosphere was cozy. The place was decorated soooo cute. Now to the food. I had the turkey wing dinner with mac and cheese and yams. the turkeys wings was sooooooo tender. They literally fell off the bone. The mac and cheese along with the yams taste like your great great great grandmother cooked them !! If you are looking for a down home cooking soul food place this is the place!!!!!!!!

Gummy's was great!! From the pleasant attitude of the staff and the soulful music playing in the background to the absolutely delectable food on my plate my whole experience was simply amazing! I recommend anyone go here, I promise you won't be disappointed
