"Go for the burgers, stay for the crepes at this casual Town Center restaurant, which is known for both. When it comes to the burgers, you can choose your own shell from choices like Texas toast, challah bread, and vegan pretzel buns, or lose the bread altogether and opt for a burger bowl. As far as the crepes go, both sweet and savory are offered, with standouts including the cheesy salmon and spinach crepe, and the dulce de leche dessert crepe." - Megha McSwain, Rebecca Deurlein

My 4 colleagues and I went here for lunch. We at first sat inside and asked if we could sit outside instead to enjoy the beautiful weather. They accommodated us by putting 2 heavy metal tables together and wiping them down. The food was delicious (creative burgers!), strawberry milkshake was yummy, and great friendly staff.

Great food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Burgers were hot, juicy and huge! Got the Grub burger which is the best of breakfast and lunch combined. The Rodeo fries were excellent. Ate outside in great weather and Steve our server was amazingly friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Google
Vibe- This is another nice casual restaurant in the Sugar Land Town Square. There’s about 11 or so square tables and a few booths inside. There’s outside seating as well. Customer service- Good! Food/drinks- I got THE TESLA BURGER (one of their vegan options) to eat and I went during happy hour (3pm-6pm) so I ordered a strawberry/mango margarita but they were out of tequila so they did the strawberry/margarita with champagne. Everything was great! Parking- I parked in the garage for free that’s literally right next to the spot.

Went to this place looking at all these bright reviews and was nothing but disappointed. Did not like the taste of their food. We ordered their bowl which wasn’t anything extraordinary. If you can’t handle spice don’t order Buddha fries. Also the egg on the fries is sunny side up. Side note: they don’t serve crepes anymore. The women restroom floor had napkins everywhere and they was no toilet paper. Don’t know if they have a person who looks after that. Overall not a good experience won’t be coming again.

Google
Absolutely delicious, well prepared, and cooked with the utmost quality of ingredients. The Chuck Norris burger had everything from juicy burger, savory bacon and crispy onion rings. The "personal" size loaded fries for $8 was more than enough to feed 2 people. There was probably close to 3 full large potatoes in that serving.

Just like what I imagine, it's would taste like from looking at the pictures and reading the reviews. It's absolutely delicious 😋 Good service and good food. What else can you ask for 😆 The burgers are huge and so tasty. Love it ++ 😀

Google
We’ve been here twice now. Pretty good selection. I found the food is rather very good for the most part. I love that you can get a slider size burger as I can only eat half a full size one generally. Overall, they have good options, but there’s something about it that keeps it from being really great. The vibe is laid back and comfortable. They have a small patio that’s covered and fills up first on nice days. Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience for burgers and fries. The crepe I tried was meh though.

Was here on Thursday late afternoon with family, the food is very tasty we pick the Texas toast was delicious, very juicy meat patties as well as the bacon was smoked just righ. Love the CHUCK NORRIS and THE GURU BURGER, sweet potato fries was very tasty and crunchy. Ask for Megan she is one of the best server here. Really appreciate her service.

Yelp
WHAT A SHAME THAT YOURE CLOSING! With 1,000 reviews and 4 stars, you're the best RESTAURANT in Sugar Land. Not to mention the best burger I ever had. And I worked at a burger joint that made fresh buns each day! Friendly staff and outstanding burgers. Props to the owners, the menu has a great variety! I'll definitely be back before the 21st for the blue cheese! After a lovely conversation with Matthew at your bar, I decided to go with the Japoneiro's burger. He's a very smart young guy in the engineering program, and we had a great conversation about linear algebra. He lamented that the burger menu was smaller than it used to be-- I can't even conceive of what it must have been -- and that the place is closing. As the best place in Houston, he said, he candidly said that he'll have to start getting his burgers from Flippin Patties. All it took was that one burger for me to 100% agree. I love this type of joint -- specialty burgers -- but you guys are the dang best. I got this burger and bit into it and it had a freakin grilled banana in it. Splendid. It was impossible not to smile because, not only did it work, but wow! It was creative AND absolutely delicious. The meat was juicy, really out of this world. And the challah bun did not offend. 10/10!

Yelp
So I got to try Guru! I found it interesting that the restaurant boasts a combination of burgers and poke/chicken bowls. Definitely a novel concept! I decided to try the original bowl which had tuna, salmon and a host of other typical poke bowl options. Not bad! The tuna wasn't my favorite but the salmon was really good and they had a soy sauce that they drizzled throughout the bowl. They give you a ton of ingredients - almost too much, but I can't complain because it's much more than at a typical poke place for the same price. The server was super friendly and suggested an sriracha sauce to add to the bowl since the tuna and salmon didn't have any spice or sauces and there were really no other options. They're more known for their burgers and my friends all had the Turkey burger with gluten free breads. All clean plates at the end!

Yelp
Had the craving for burger and decided to satisfy that urge at Grub. There are plenty of seatings in the restaurant, and there are outdoor patio seatings too. I was quickly seated, and my server was very prompt in serving me. The menu was short and sweet, but there was no lack in variations of burgers. I got their weekday combo (Tuesday to Thursday) which consisted of a burger, side, and drink (any drink) for $20. The Big Shroom looked tempting but I got to change the bun to challah, my fave. My burger was stacked with fresh vegetables, and the grilled portobello patty was made well. However, it would have been better if there were more grilled portobello than vegetables. I chose plantain chips as my side which were crunchy and well seasoned. Strawberry milkshake was a small cup and was too sweet for me. Free garage parking is available, and the entrance is beside the front of the restaurant. Paid street parking is also available but there are limited spaces.

Yelp
After a 5k at Brazos Bend bro and I hit this place as burgers are always savored after race. We drove up to SugarLand after finding it on Yelp. As I do not eat meat I ordered the mushroom burger and bro got a regular one. The host and server were very nice. We both split an order of onion rings which were amazing. I wish I could say burger was amazing but since I make mushroom burgers every now and then I felt burger couldve had more flavor. Im willing to try the place again with other unique burgers.

Yelp
We were headed to a concert at Smart Financial Center and stopped at Town Center to eat. We chose Guru Burgers because the happy hour at Escalante's was over. I was happy to see they have a vegetarian burger called Tesla. I have no idea why but for $15 I wish it came with a one day use of an actual Tesla. The burger is delicious and my friend enjoyed hers. The burger does not come with fries. It originally comes with vegan bread but I switched to whole wheat. While delicious, $15 is a bit much for a vegetarian burger with no accompaniments. There is free parking in the garage. When we're not in a hurry to go somewhere else, I hope to enjoy the live music they have on the square sometimes.

Yelp
The poke bowl here is one of my personal favorites in the Sugar Land area. Not only is it fairly priced, the flavor, the options, the portions for me are all perfect. I love coming here with my family. They seat you pretty quickly and the guys that work there are really nice. They're attentive and they helped me out a lot with each question I had. The place does not have much seating but so far I've had no issues sitting with a group of 8. It's also a little cold in there so I would bring a jacket.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way from Houston to Victoria. We always call a place before we go for burgers to make sure they will cook a medium rare burger, so this spot said they could. They nailed it as you can see in the pictures. I told them medium rare on the side of rare. I ordered the Bruce Lee and added avocado. It was so good and super filling....could not finish it all. My husband had the Fig Newton and we ended up swapping burgers half-way through because I loved it so much! Yes, he his amazing on several levels, but especially because he shares his food with me. :) The burgers were amazing, but y'all....the beet chips!!! They were the star of the show! My husband hates beets, and I ordered them as my side. He ended up eating more of them than I did. We got an extra order to go, too. I have tried in vain to find them around us in Austin, but no luck. I even ordered some on Amazon...nope. Not the same. I cannot wait to go back and get some more.

Yelp
Short version: killer burger with great service and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip. Deep Thoughts: I really liked the variety of burgers on the menu. I know I'll be back again, as there were four or five burgers that really caught my eye. The Japaneiros sounds like a unique combination of flavors. I also like that there are chicken options available. The Al Capone is one that I'd really like to try. I decided on the Pancho burger and I was very impressed. I ordered it medium rare, and it was prepared perfectly! There was just the right amount of heat, and I really liked the guacamole. I was also very surprised that for a mere two dollars more I could get a salad AND fries. The salad was excellent! Very fresh with a nice crunch facto, and an excellent house dressing. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with the fries. They had a good flavor, but they were little too limp for my tastes. Would like to try some that were a little more crisp and hot. The service was excellent! I had interactions with three different employees, and all of them were friendly and helpful. They checked on me a number of times and were very prompt with the closing of the tab which, by the way, was completed right at the table, instead of the usual trip to the back room! I liked that a lot. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. There were sports on two different monitors and they had a nice selection of beer. I went with the IPA and was not disappointed! Overall a very pleasant meal. I'll definitely be back when I'm in this part of town again. (Great freeway access)

Yelp
My husband and I visited Guru on the 16th of September and were very excited to try the food. On first impression the restaurant seemed clean and the service started off great. We ordered Rodeo Fries to share, a Texas Ranger burger with sweet potato fries for me and the Chuck Norris for him. Everything was really tasty and we were about 30% into our meal when we noticed a German Roach nymph (baby) crawling up the wall a couple inches from our table. It was incredibly shocking and disgusting. We called the hostesses attention and she killed the roach as we sat there completely flabbergasted. My husband proceeded to get a manager's attention and while we were describing the situation to him... ANOTHER roach crawled by on the same wall. The manager killed roach number two and brought us our check. We left the waiter a tip and left Guru hungry, nauseated, and traumatized. :(

Yelp
Came here with a party of 5 and it was just okay. We got seated right away and ordered pretty quickly, but the service after that was slow and our server stopped coming to our table. We had to flag down our server to refill our drinks a couple of time. Food was not bad, but okay. My sister and I decided to try one of their speciality bowls and they were each $14. For that price of a bowl I was really expecting more. It looks pretty and appetizing when it first comes out, but that was about it...it was nothing out of ordinary. I had the "original" bowl which sounds like just a regular poke bowl with spicy salmon and tuna. But my bowl was overpowered with green onions and cilantro. In my opinion, I could have did away with the cilantro. The table also ordered a plate of fries to share and it came out a little soggy. Fries could be cooked a little longer to crisp it up.

Yelp
Megan oh Megan, you have forever changed my life with the recommendation of The King burger. Seriously, I ate it 2 nights ago and have already been craving it again. 1000/10 service, I hope I'm lucky enough to get you again next time!

Jason S.

Yelp
My go to burger spot. They keep the beers on tap rotating and it's not the usual suspects, which I love. Their fries are delicious and their burgers are a good size. They aren't giant, but they are juicy (this includes turkey burgers) and the ingredients always seem fresh to me. It's not a huge place. IT IS CLOSED ON MONDAYS. I always sit at the bar so I haven't had any issues with service. There's been a few times I've heard people say things behind the bar that I didn't think I needed to hear, but I was the only person at the bar. Burgers and fries are don't miss out.

Yelp
I have loved Guru Burgers, Japaneiros, and Jupiters for years. The service, food, and ambiance were always 5 stars. I recently went to GB's for my birthday lunch. The moment I walked in I noticed a change in the atmosphere. I wasn't sure what was wrong. Then I saw the menu had changed. All my favorite foods that brought me to GB's was gone. I was shocked. I asked the waitress if GB's was closing? She said no but they had to stop carrying some items. I was very sad I know that so many businesses have suffered due to COVID. The owners of these restaurants are a staple in First Colony for their quality and gluten free menu. I hope it things improve quickly so that you can bring back those fun crepes, desserts, beets chips, and many other fun comfort food that we need.

Neody R.

Yelp
We enjoy their poke bowls, and great burgers too. Great Happy hour specials and customer service.

Isaias G.

Yelp
Love the buffalo burger I ordered. The place was great and the Sugarland Town square was very unique.

Dene M.

Yelp
My husband and I went here 1/13/2023 and if this place had to be given a review on service only they would get a 10/10. This is by far some of the best service we received from a restaurant in a while. The host and hostess were very pleasant and greeted us with smiles. Our waiter was superb! He was exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu, gave recommendations and had an amazing personality. Let's talk about the food: **** If you are looking at Guru versus other joints note that your burger does NOT come with sides. Excellent marketing attractor here. They appear to be cheaper than their competitors**** 1) The cannonballs: 6/10. The meat was tough! The bacon that the meat was wrapped in was crisped to perfection. I figure that the former was a victim of the later. The garlic aioli at the bottom was waaaay to sweet for us. 2) The burner burger: 7/10. It was small. The quality was decent. The "caramelized onions" needed to be sautéed more. The best thing about the burger was the burner/firehouse sauce. It met our level of heat and tasted great with the roasted habanero notes. 3) The burner burger "lettuce wrap": 6.5/10. This was by no means a lettuce wrap. There were 2 pieces of lettuce- one up top and one at the bottom. The quality was decent. 4) The fried sharebles: Fries: 2/10, Onion rings: 9.3/10. The fries were mehhh and very lack luster. There were undercooked bits and some that were soggy. Definitely not what you'd think when you envision fries. The onion rings however was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! Perfect texture and consistent sizes. 5) Spicy Buffalo wings (not pictured): 8/10. It was fried to perfection but not spicy by any means. 6) The firehouse/habanero sauce: 10/10 if you're a spicy lover get it. It'll exceed your expectations. Overall it is a decent place but just very forgettable. We would only return for the firehouse/habanero sauce.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, & SpongeBob-themed shirts to brighten your day. PRICE vs EXP | 8/10 Decently priced for offerings & quick-casual experience! SERVICE | 8/10 Almost overly-friendly service! Matches the energy from the SpongeBob shirts. FOOD | 8/10 Lots of variety - plenty of interesting takes I wish I could try upon seeing first visit. I had the Beef & Celli bowl! (7.75/10) It tasted like a fusion between Mexican & Asian cuisine!

Kamini G.

Yelp
Such a cute little place!! The staff were very welcoming and it is a very happy place! We had the veggie burgers which were really good! The fries were amazing too!! Would highly recommend!!

Peikai M.

Yelp
Experience was okay. Waiter was friendly and service was quite fast. Food was only ok, however. The patty was a grey colour, not a dark brown like i'm used to and was quite small. The burger I got had small blue cheese cubes that weren't really melted and was too pricey for what I got. Would not go back again. The onion rings were good though, especially the sauce it comes with. Side note: originally we sat inside but soon after moved to the outside because it was too loud with music inside to properly chat.

Peter X.

Yelp
I would not recommend the JJ Watt burger and it comes loaded with fries that are all soggy from the sauces. Just get a normal burger with fries on the side. I recommend the truffle fries.

Bryan V.

Yelp
I got the purple rain burger and it was pretty solid! It was filling because of the mushrooms and I liked the crunchy texture and refreshing taste of the cabbage. The fries were really good with the garlic aioli sauce.

Taylor M.

Yelp
Great burgers! Just know exactly what you want! So many to choose from! I had the Turkey burger with no onions!

Lucy V.

Yelp
Good. Really good the chicken and rice were very tasty but her burgers are the best. The Fig Newton is my favorite, the combination of fig and goat cheese with the bacon makes this burger something worth to try. The service is always good. As I said one of the best burgers ! Go and try yourself. If you are self conscious and don't want to indulge you can have your burger without the bread. They have good beers and the place is very easy going for at everyday lunch!

Samuel C.

Yelp
Burgers are far from the best, but they are decent. Good for a quick bite, a little bit on the pricier side but that is to no surprise given that it is in Sugarland.

Scott W.

Yelp
Great food great service. The Ammons is very nice for the setting of the restaurant. I like how they moved the previous restaurant into the kitchen. Serve milkshakes, which is a cool addition my only gripe is their beer selection. I wish it was the same size as when RANDY was the manager.

Diem P.

Yelp
My go to place for onion rings - they have one of the BEST onion rings I've eaten!! There's a great selection of burgers and poke bowls. There's something for everyone! My latest Guru obsession is the sloppy pilgrim - lean ground turkey patty topped with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and tomatoes....flavor explosion! And for the pepper heads - try the in house habanero sauce! Bonus - small but great selection of beer on draft, friendly staff and outdoor seating.

Miten P.

Yelp
The Figster burger was cooked well. The fig spread was clawingly sweet, though. They should've used cream cheese to cut through it. The tequenos were awful. They were soggy, the breading lacked seasoning, and the pink sauce tasted terrible. I ate the last one with some of my own ranch to salvage it a little. If the $10 tequenos and pink sauce hadn't been so awful, I would've probably given 4 stars.

Jason U.

Yelp
Came here for a quick and convenient lunch with a group. We got the sweet potato fries with parmesan to share. They were very good, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I got the Open Season burger and everything about it was cooked to my liking. The onion ring that was on it was very tasty and it added a good crunch to the burger. Everything complimented well and it was a good quality burger. The staff was friendly and receptive. I had a pretty good experience here. The only thing is burgers are on the more expensive end without any sides or fries included in the price.

Marisa H.

Yelp
The food here is incredible! ZERO complaints on the food. My main issue is with noise. We always request to eat outside because there's nothing on the walls to absorb sound, and with a full dining room, you can barely hear yourself think, let alone hold a conversation. To the owners, PLEASE put something on the ceiling or walls to absorb some of the sound. The all-concrete-and-metal with the high ceilings aren't doing this place any favors. That being said, this is still my husband's and my favorite burger spot, and we will definitely continue to come here.

April G.

Yelp
Came here for my son's 15th birthday and was pleasantly surprised. We came on a Thursday evening and it wasn't crowded at all. We were seated right away. My son opted for a burger and I tried the salmon and risotto. The salmon was amazing and seasoned so well. I throughly enjoyed my meal. The salmon was a special and came with spinach and a crawfish sauce. I will definitely return but this time I will try a burger.

Jasmine W.

Yelp
Guru has done a fantastic job throughout the entirety of the pandemic - as someone who hasn't dined out since March, takeout can often be a hit or miss. They've been killing it every single order and have packaged everything beautifully and always fulfilled extra requests. I was a bit skeptical about the new addition of poke bowls to their menu, but decided to give it a shot today by getting a build your own custom bowl. I was blown away by how good it was! I got 1/2 white rice, 1/2 spring mix, salmon, spicy tuna, edamame, seaweed salad, green onions, and cucumbers topped with sesame seeds and spicy ponzu and green onion/cilantro sauce on the side. It was fresh, the portion size was extremely generous, and it was just delicious. I will 100% be back because of how pleasantly surprised I was by their beautiful presentation and just how great the food was. They also used sushi rice as opposed to just plain white rice, so kudos for that detail. Also, being able to get my favorite Parmesan truffle oil fries from them or beet chips and that amazing garlic aioli with a poke bowl is pretty amazing - sounds weird but don't knock it till you try it! Really happy to be able to support a local restaurant during the pandemic, but always happy to have more excuses to order from here!

Jessica D.

Yelp
Purple rain burger is everything Servers are great Ambiance is great Highly recommend

Cathy E.

Yelp
Great! service. But what happened to the menu?? The Hot Chick sandwich is no more. No kid menu - no sliders - no goat cheese - no beet chips. What's the deal? Kinda disappointing. The metal chairs aren't very comfy.

Ema P.

Yelp
Burgers arepretty decent nothing to write home about but the staff is really nice. The manager is extremely understanding and hospitable and that's what I can appreciate. So for that I give four stars. If the food was great, I would give five stars. Unfortunately, the burgers are about 3 out of 5 stars. I have five burgers on this order, the heart stopper, the true grit, the fig newton, and two kings, one without plantain. Every single person said the burgers were just m e h. We also ordered two Buddha fries, two hand cut fries, and one onion rings. I'll come back and order another Burger and see what I think...however, the onion rings are spectacular! Super flavorful and you don't really need any condiments with it. The Buddha fries were just okay. It wasn't as amazing as I thought they would be but the flavors were good.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Excellent food every time and we always get it to go! Service is so fast! Super cute restaurant but we've never eaten there! You won't be disappointed!

Randy H.

Yelp
Awesome burgers cooked to order. Great selections too!!! Excellent service with a smile. Recommended

Agustin R.

Yelp
Bring back the fire sauce and you will get the fifth star back. This place is my go-to burger place when family and friends visit in sugar land. Great selection of drinks and burger constructions. They recently took away the habanero sauce. Sad. But I'll always be back.

Ishleen G.

Yelp
Ordered Guru through Uber Eats and loved the food and presentation! Initially I accidentally ordered a standard bowl and customized it but wanted a "build your own bowl" instead and customer service & manager helped make sure it was what I wanted and the poke bowl was awesome. Got the Captain Planet (veggie burger) along with poke bowl and presentation of both were great. Poke bowl was filled to the top and the burger had beautiful slices of avocado on top. Would recommend.

Sean M.

Yelp
First and last time ordering from Guru's. Ordered the Gobbler turkey burger and it was horrible. Could not manage a second bite. It was flavorless and frankly didn't smell good or taste fresh. Ruined my appetite! Definitely will not be ordering from them again.

Vanessa N.

Yelp
Guru is one of our favorite places in Sugar Land! The handcrafted burgers are amazing, as well as their sides! The food is always fresh! Megan was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and friendly! Guru never disappoints. We also love that they have Texas leaguer beers on draft! PS- bring back the Jack in the Mac and the Cannon Balls please!

Katherine B.

Yelp
Good food....unique burgers. Highly recommend. Like all their other restaurants, good quality food; you can never go wrong. But, BRING BACK THE BEET CHIPS!

Kathleen M.

Yelp
My initial thought was - how can a restaurant specialize in burgers & Poke bowls? Crazy right? Crazy delicious that is. The decor is industrial, the menu is a barcode on the table, and the beer and wine menu is upscale. $$-$$$ After we demonstrated to our waiter the menu wouldn't load to our phone (no signal) our waiter managed to find a couple paper menus. My husband ordered a burger & chicken slider and I had a design-your-own Poke bowl and a brown porter. We both enjoyed our meals a lot. I was not familiar with all the sauce choices, our waiter was very helpful with making my selections. Service was excellent. We arrived at opening & when we left the place was hopping & full. There is an outside patio dining area as well. I highly recommend this place, and we will come back soon!

Lindsay B.

Yelp
My family and I are regulars. We are SHOCKED by the new menu changes. We are incredibly disappointed that we can't get 50% of our favorite items with the new menu changes. Please bring back The Dave, garlic aioli, beet chips, crepes and the MAC N' CHEESE! Please make this our favorite spot once again! We do not want to come back without our go to items.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Burgers are good. Our server was nice. Food was fresh. Prices are fair and ambiance is fine. I would recommend this burger joint if you want something different.

Vincent B.

Yelp
This is the best burger joint in Sugar Land! They have a large selection to chose from...something for everyone. However, I did order a patty melt one time and it was like...that's not a patty melt. So, butgers are great...patty melt...never again.

Karen 2.

Yelp
the service was good. food was out pretty quickly. the poke bowl was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. outdoor seating is nice too! would recommend

Zara R.

Yelp
Food? i wish i had a big enough stomach to order one of everything! it is slightly pricey & no burgers come with fries but other than that it was great! Our Waiter was phenomenal and took his time with us since he could tell it was our first time, couldn't have loved the service more, lastly the interior was gorgeous and modern, lovely for pictures it just to be in a nice ambient place, would definitely come here again

Mynika C.

Yelp
Here with an updated review. Not much has changed- which is a great thing! I ordered the same Captain Planet Burger with sweet potato fries and added Parmesan cheese on them- delicious! Along with the house salad. They still have the lunch special where you pay 10 dollars for your burger and add 2 dollars to get the fries + the house salad. They have added tacos though, we were told that you could get 3 tacos for either 12 or 14 dollars (can't remember) but great deal! I'm sure we will be back again. Great service. ***************************************************** First time eating at this place, and first time loving it! I already cannot wait to return. One of my colleagues suggested this place, and since we were in the area doing community site visits this was the perfect place. Our waitress was really kind and ensured that we had what we needed. She told us about the lunch special which was either 10 or 11 dollars and included a burger, salad, and your choice of fries. You could also try different types of fries. I ordered the Captain Planet burger, salad, wedge fries/sweet potato fries. All very delicious! The burger was very filling and healthy. Everything as seasoned to perfection. Only thing I would want different is the salad, as some of the lettuce was dirty. The restrooms were clean, which is a plus. They have outside seating.
