The 38 Best Restaurants in Mumbai, India - Eater

"Guru Kripa is a textbook restaurant designed to host large groups of joint families. There’s something for everyone: chaat, a full thali meal, sweets, milkshakes, and entrees. Order samosas, vegetable sandwiches topped with grated cheese, dal pakwan, and any dessert that piques your fancy (the jalebis and fruit custard are perfect starting points, in case you’re overwhelmed)." - Sumedh Natu

The most famous, and you can say overrated as well, food outlet in Sion. Situated In the vicinity of Sion centre this all time full places serves the most famous Chhole samosa and various types of chaats, vegetarian food including both South And North Indian delicacies. They serve various sweets and desserts as well. Seasonal desserts having loads of mango Have outdoor sitting, indoor both AC and non AC sections. Expect a waiting time even if you go on a weekday. Food quality is overall good, fast services The only good thing was chole samose. Chole bhature was waste it has so much oil. Lassi was too sweet Paav bhaji was also okayish

I recently visited Guru Kripa in Sion, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. This iconic eatery has been serving authentic vegetarian delicacies for decades, and it’s easy to see why it remains such a beloved spot in Mumbai. I tried their famous Chole Samosa, and it truly lived up to its reputation. The samosa was crisp and perfectly fried, while the spicy, flavorful chole topped with chutneys added layers of taste that made every bite unforgettable. It’s no exaggeration to say this is one of the best chole samosas you can get in Mumbai, a perfect balance of crunch, spice, and tang that leaves you craving more. To complement the meal, I ordered a lassi, which was rich, creamy, and served in a generous portion. It had just the right amount of sweetness and acted as the perfect refresher after the spice of the chole. The café itself has a bustling, lively vibe, filled with students, families, and food lovers who all come here for that same authentic taste. The service was quick despite the crowd, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions offered. Overall, Guru Kripa is a must-visit if you’re in Mumbai and love traditional vegetarian snacks.

Don’t fall for the hype! This place is a masterclass in daylight robbery. Charging ₹72 for two tiny, tasteless samosas that wouldn’t even pass for street food quality is outrageous. They’re clearly exploiting their so-called “reputation” to serve substandard, stale junk to unsuspecting customers. The samosas were cold, miserable, and a disgrace to the snack itself. And the chola? Absolutely lifeless—like it had been sitting out for days. It’s not just disappointing, it’s infuriating. A complete rip-off. Stop fooling people and start serving something worth even half the price you're charging.

Authentic taste of chhole samosa, absolutely delicious. The crowd is huge, but that adds to the vibe. Great place to enjoy food

If there’s one place in Mumbai where a simple samosa turns into a legendary experience, it’s Gurukripa in Sion. Tucked into a bustling lane near SIES College, this humble eatery has been serving what many consider the definitive Mumbai samosa for decades. Crisp, golden, and generously filled with perfectly spiced mashed potato, each samosa feels like a throwback to a simpler, tastier time. What sets it apart is not just the taste, but the atmosphere. The samosa here isn’t just a snack — it’s a rite of passage for students, office-goers, and food lovers. Served with signature chutneys and occasionally with a hearty chole, it brings to mind the nostalgic charm of A1 Samosas from old cinema halls — that unmistakable flaky crust, the bold black pepper bite, and the familiar warmth that somehow makes even a busy day feel like a celebration. Gurukripa’s samosas are comfort food in its truest sense — made fresh, served hot, and best enjoyed standing shoulder to shoulder with others who’ve made the pilgrimage for just one more bite of Mumbai’s finest. If you love street food, this place is a must-visit. One samosa is never enough.

Lassi was too sweet, samosa too salt, chutney too sweet, tawa paneer cheese roll was good but for that price okayish... Overall 2/5. But some other dishes did look good (chole bhature, veg cheese pizza). Maybe should have gone with chole bhature. I went in to find some tasty dahi papdi chaat or something on those lines, but the only dahi dish the place had to offer was dahi wada - a big turn down
