This Gu's Dumplings location is in the well maintained The Market Hall (food court) at Halcyon. On a Sunday morning at 11 am, there weren't that many food options available in Halcyon at the time, and we didn't want to drive around looking for other places. We decided to try a couple of things at Gu's Dumplings.
The employee at the counter was very nice and welcoming, and was quick at taking our orders: An large order of 12 pork Zhong style dumplings and an order of 2 spring rolls. While waiting for our food, we sat at one of the high top tables in the roomy indoor dining area used by all customers of the food court vendors. After 15 minutes, our order was called out and I picked up our food at the counter.
The fried vegetarian spring rolls were hot, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. They had a delicious flavor that was enhanced by dipping them in the homemade sweet sauce. I didn't care much for texture or the flavor of the pork Zhong style dumplings, which were water boiled pork dumplings in homemade sweet and spicy Zhong sauce with minced garlic and sprinkled with sesame seeds and fresh green onions. To me the soft dumplings lacked any flavor, had a texture that was too mushy for my preference, and I didn't even detect a sweetness to the sauce - just a spicy heat. I also thought that, overall, the portions were small for what we paid.
The spring rolls and the service were really good. I've had much better tasting dumplings elsewhere that weren't priced so high.
