I ordered the Chongqing Spicy Chicken Stir Fry and a Sparkling Water…my meal was a box of chicken and Szechuan Peppers. It was good, but VERY dry. I stole some sauce from my cousins General Tso’s Chicken, which was also subpar. It was a bowl of chicken swimming in sauce with three florets of broccoli. This was a crazy experience and definitely not worth the almost $60 we paid for both meals. Gu’s Dumplings, please change your menu and do better.

Google
Hot and sour soup had no flavor. Crispy beef was not good at all. No sauce at all. $20 for spiced cardboard on inedible cilantro stems.

victor C.

Google
Expensive for what you get. $25 for Mongolian beef that doesn't even come with a side of rice. Never have I ordered from a Chinese restaurant where a main dish doesn't come with at least a side of rice. 98% of Chinese restaurants will include rice and soup or rolls. To my surprise, here EVERYTHING IS SEPARATE even the soy sauce. My Mongolian beef was a bowl of onions swimming in sugar water and a couple of pieces of beef, Nothing else .

Madhuri M.

Google
Tried for first time and got disappointed. The sauce was too sweet. The guy just tossed the dumplings in sweet sauce with crushed red pepper. Won’t try again ever

Google
Order my food, online, around 5:50PM with a pickup time around 6:14PM. Around 6:10PM GU'S Dumplings marked my order ready for pickup. At 6:12PM I went to the counter and they told me it hasn't come out the kitchen yet... Fast forward to 6:42PM and I again ask about my food as they have now served people for HALF AN HOUR!!!! Past when they marked my order is ready for pickup. Still not ready they say. So I ask for them to either provide the food I ordered almost an hour ago or provide a refund. They refused both and told me I juat had to keep waiting. I did let them know they were now technically indebted to me in the amount of $30 and if they really wanted to play that game then if a refund wasn't provided then I would be forced to collect $30 in other items around the store. Long story short, No Refund! No Manager! No English! Take your money somewhere else. They DO NOT care about you. They even LIED to new people wanting to order food, telling them it's only a 10 minute wait time. No form of apology, no form of compensation, absolutely nothing from this establishment.

Google
very good dumplings and noodles, very Chinese flavors. everything was customizable and the cashier was helpful and knowledgeable about stuff

Google
First time takeout from this place. Their dimpling was supposed to be great but I think it was okay. The dry noodle may not be for everybody. The hot sour soup and spring roll was great though. I thought it is a bit on the pricey side for the food.

Jin T.

Google
This is the dumpling I ordered on Ubereats. $15 but one get one free. I paid $1.1 to get extra spicy but it’s not spicy at all… this is too over price!!!! 6 dumplings in the bowl….

Yelp
Stop #2 on our first annual dumpling crawl brought us to Gu's Dumplings. Naturally, we had to try all three varieties--pork, chicken, and veggie. Honestly? They were just fine. The dipping sauce was okay, but nothing really stood out. For a place with "dumplings" in the name, we expected a bit more wow factor. That said, the veggie dumplings were the most flavorful of the bunch and ended up being my favorite. The rest of the menu looked promising, so I might come back to try something else--but if you're here just for the dumplings, temper your expectations. It's a walk up counter in a 'food hall' so the ambiance was kind of young and fun, and the guys behind the counter were pretty nice, but I can't justify more than three stars.

Yelp
So as far as dumpling spots go, I can see why this is rated in the top spots for Atlanta. Now they sell more than dumplings, but I came for the dumplings. And I've had their pork dumplings before at a different location, but I was with one of my friends who pork is not in their diet and I wanted them to be able to try the dumplings so I did order the chicken dumplings. And I have to say the chicken dumplings were also very good, but I do prefer the pork dumplings. I feel that they have a little bit more flavor but nonetheless, they were very good. The staff was friendly and this was in a small food court with open air because they had garage door openings to let the fresh air in. Always enjoy their dumplings will be back for more.

Yelp
Came back with a friend who recommended trying the spicy dried eggplant. This one plate was $17. Gu's is a bit more on the expensive side in general, but this much for dried eggplant was questionable. It honestly wasn't spicy or that flavorful, just tasted like fried salty eggplant. I wouldn't try this again.

Yelp
The best dumplings you're missing out if you don't get them. The sauce is grade A. The location at Haycon is awesome they have another one on Buford Hwy also. We need one further North

Yelp
I've tried the Halcyon Gu's twice now and have been disappointed with the quality of the food both times. I'm a fan of the one at Krog Street. Halcyon is disappointing.

Haley C.

Yelp
I love gu's!!!! I always get one thing and one thing only. The spicy dried eggplant! Tons of cilantro & garlic on top of the delicious fried eggplant. It is a great option for vegetarians as well.

Yelp
The best dumpling spot in all of Georgia. Whether you go here or the location in Chamblee you cant go wrong. Dumplings and sweet, savory, and have a bite to them that you cant get anywhere else. ALSO the green beans are a must.
google avatar

Yelp
These dumplings are outrageously yummy! We have been back 3 times and only want to pork and chicken dumplings! They are incredible. I mean, just thinking about them makes my mouth water! The sauce is the perfect amount of spice and the servings are generous - 6+ dumplings in each order that totally fill you up. I love the whole Halcyon food court vibe - upscale, of course! Everyone is super friendly and we will be back soon to try...dumplings again! M

Yelp
I recently ordered this from uber eats. Good flavors and variety. I wish it was cheaper for the quantity they give. I definitely recommend going for the large or you're gonna be hungry.
google avatar

Ruthy M.

Yelp
The sauce that comes with the dumpling were delicious. It was sweet and spicy. The dumplings was a little hard and doughy in texture. The filling inside didn't have any flavor to it. The homemade sauce was really the star of the show. I've had way better dumplings.

Yelp
Avoid this restaurant unless you want food poisoning, which I received after ordering their dumplings. I have eaten here several times before, but noticed a big delay in receiving my order and then ended up being hospitalized with extreme food poisoning. The manager refused to address the situation or offer a refund. If you look at the Forsyth County health ratings they have been cited several times for improper food, storage and temperatures.

Yelp
Gu's Dumplings is located inside the Halcyon food hall. I ALWAYYYYSSSS get the pork dumplings and love the sweet and spicy sauce. They're served with minced garlic, sesame seeds and green onions. Soooo good! You can order 6 dumplings for $10 or 12 dumplings for $15 which is pretty steep but they're actually worth it. The staff is friendly, and service is very quick, but can get very busy around lunch time.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting. Old cold rubbery inedible! I won't not feed this to an animal. Don't know how they are still in business!

Yelp
Ordered the half order of dumplings (6) for the two of us to each have 3 We Got them in a Togo container. We ate them at the food court there. After eating a couple we realized there was only 5. We told them but they didn't seem to care. Had we known they either didn't really come with 6 and they just forgot to change the menu or they just simply shorted us one we would have gotten something else to share or a larger size. The fact they didn't care is what annoyed us. We understand that mistakes happen. No big deal. But they could have offered to fix it. The dumplings overall were decent a little Skimpy on the meat but the taste was there. I Will say that it was Not worth the price of 5 though. Hope someone else reading this has a better experience than we did.

Christopher S.

Yelp
The spicy crispy beef is probably the best individual entree that can be ordered from any restaurant in Halcyon. A bit pricey, but it is very flavorful.

Yelp
I am visiting from out of town. Just ordered Uber Eats from Gu's...WOW!!! Incredible. I will definitely order again-maybe even tomorrow night. Just awesome.

Yelp
My FAVORITE dumpling spot. I Uber eats this to my home soooo much it's ridiculous. My husband has a very bland (basic) taste pallets and he's not super into all the Asian foods I've introduced him too but these dumplings ARE IT for him. As long as they're extra spicy lol My kids love the beef and rice bowls. It's full of flavor! 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Georgia K.

Yelp
Just okay is really the main descriptor I can think of after trying out the popular dumplings from here. I appreciated the patience and honesty of the staff despite the large crowds and possible long wait at the time of my visit. The food came out hot but the dumpling filling was lackluster and encased in too thick of a skin. The sauce itself was not as spicy as would be typically expected and leaned sweeter than most other areas. While the food satisfied by cravings and considering the other Asian offers in the area, it was the most promising, if you can make the trip out towards Buford hwy to get better quality then please do.

Tim S.

Yelp
I mean the dumplings are good with a nice sauce etc. But i feel like its crazy that a fancy place like Halcyon only has a food hall of literal ethnic street food at premium prices. So 12 dollars for 6 basic pork dumplings is really crazy. In addition I had to wait over twenty mins for said dumplings and i know they get prepared in mass so they should be ready to be boiled or steamed and there was nobody ahead of me and people arriving later where getting their orders ahead of me so I wasn't impressed with the experience nor with the ok dumplings. Im not sure ill visit again.

Yelp
Dumplings are always amazing, I recommend pork if you consume that. Next, I will try the shrimp fried rice. I recommend 12 pork dumplings. Enjoy

Yelp
I tried this last Friday on my no cook day and I was very happy that I did. The Mongolian beef was really good; a tad bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The egg rolls were great and the hubby enjoyed the dumplings a lot. He is already asking me to drop by for more. I will be back. The service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
This Gu's Dumplings location is in the well maintained The Market Hall (food court) at Halcyon. On a Sunday morning at 11 am, there weren't that many food options available in Halcyon at the time, and we didn't want to drive around looking for other places. We decided to try a couple of things at Gu's Dumplings. The employee at the counter was very nice and welcoming, and was quick at taking our orders: An large order of 12 pork Zhong style dumplings and an order of 2 spring rolls. While waiting for our food, we sat at one of the high top tables in the roomy indoor dining area used by all customers of the food court vendors. After 15 minutes, our order was called out and I picked up our food at the counter. The fried vegetarian spring rolls were hot, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. They had a delicious flavor that was enhanced by dipping them in the homemade sweet sauce. I didn't care much for texture or the flavor of the pork Zhong style dumplings, which were water boiled pork dumplings in homemade sweet and spicy Zhong sauce with minced garlic and sprinkled with sesame seeds and fresh green onions. To me the soft dumplings lacked any flavor, had a texture that was too mushy for my preference, and I didn't even detect a sweetness to the sauce - just a spicy heat. I also thought that, overall, the portions were small for what we paid. The spring rolls and the service were really good. I've had much better tasting dumplings elsewhere that weren't priced so high.

Yelp
This was stop 3 of mine and my husband's drink and food crawl! We were not disappointed! These are some of the best dumplings, I've ever tasted. Please stop by and try these

Yelp
Dude these dumplings were WILD. I'm sad that I only got a half order. We went to the location in Alpharetta because we were over there. It's inside of a larger food court situation but I was craving dumplings. I saw a sign that said 'best dumplings in Atlanta by the food network' lol. I'm not one to buy into hype but I was already craving them and needed it. I've been dreaming of them since and can't wait to try other options on the menu. In terms of service the people working the counter were nice. It was busy and after eating these I know why. Writing this review is making me want them now haha

E R.

Yelp
Service was awful We went back to the window for soy sauce and person behind glass just stared at us. The fried rice was meh Steamed dumplings were good.

Yelp
Got the Handmade Sweet and Spicy Thick Noodles. They were good, and gets spicier as you eat them but also gets pretty salty after a while. Unfortunately, I paid $15 for these noodles and wouldn't say that I'm full after eating them. You can tell that the noodles are handmade and are definitely doughy (which was great!), but again, it's more so a little more than a snack kind of portions. Overall, service was good and pretty quick despite the food hall becoming busy for the dinner rush.

John M.

Yelp
My first ever bad review. I tend to give the benefit of doubt to the food and service industry. But dang-this place leaves things out and repeatedly screws up orders. Not a singled out instance; like all the time! It's not cheap either; I would expect better from a place that costs $30+ for a walk up counter. The employees and management has the attitude that replicates a cheap snack stand vendor at six flags. They just don't care. The crispy beef and dumplings are great. But unfortunately this place gets a single star and I encourage fellow patrons to spend their money elsewhere. Fortunately I believe the staff and management won't care.

Yelp
LOVEEEE THEIR DUMPLINGS. ***LOCATION*** Love the whole area at Halcyon. I have also tried their dumplings at Krog street and they were both good both times. This spot is a lot easier to find parking imo than Krog street. I live in between both and much prefer this location! Halcyon has a free parking deck or paid parking right out front. ***AMBIANCE*** It's in a food hall. I came during the day so it wasn't too crowded but I imagine at night and on weekends it probably gets busy, but the inside is so nice. Definitely also great if people in your party want to all eat different things. ***FOOD*** Their dumplings are the best I have EVER had anywhere period. The only complaint I'd have is that this time and the time at Krog street, I never got 12 dumpling. At Krog street I got 11 and here I don't even think I got 9... I ordered a dozen but idk if they didn't really count but I was a little disappointed by that. They are soooo amazing though even if they gave me 1 I'd be back haha ***STAFF*** Really nice! I had ordered for pickup directly on Yelp. When I got there it was ready and he grabbed my order and I was able to get it immediately. ***PRICE*** Reasonable for the size of the dumplings and of course the quality! ***CONCLUSION*** Will forever be a regular anytime I am in the area. Both locations are about 15-20 min from me but I will definitely go out of my way to go here!

Yelp
The food at GU's dumplings is good we ordered $60 worth of food this past weekend however when we asked for a chilli oil it was a small pre portioned chilli oil container for which we were asked to pay $2 .... I felt it was a little miserly .... As another place we often used to visit pre Covid gave 4 crab rangoons free if the order exceeded $35 .... We don't expect them to give us food for free ... but charging $2 for chilli oil was not expected
google avatar

Joyrina H.

Yelp
This was a very popular location at the food hall. There was always ongoing customers at this spot. The person up front was very helpful and nice as this was my first time at the food hall since it opened. I opted for the 6 steamed pork dumplings. You can choose from 6 or 10 quantity wise for the number of dumplings as well as if you want pork, chicken, or vegetable. It was very filling and tasty except I would next time opt for light sauce as it was a lot of sauce and it was very oily. Also, it's kind of pricey, as it costs $10 for half an order of dumplings. I do recommend this place as it was good and worth trying.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
The dumplings here are great, but I feel like they are pretty expensive. Everything else is mediocre. The girl at the counter was very unfriendly... there are so many options around, this probably won't become a regular spot for us.
google avatar

Gretel Y.

Yelp
I love Gu's Dumplings. It's one of the best I've ever had. Their handmade noodles are also fantastic. Great flavor and consistency. However, I agree with other Yelpers about the price. Having tried several different items from here, I can say it's a bit expensive. A full order of dumplings is $14, handmade sweet & spicy thick noodles are $14, a 16oz. hot & sour soup is $6.5, an order of mapo tofu is $15, etc. The meat entrees also don't come with rice. It's an additional $1.5 for white rice. I can't complain too much. The food is always delicious and the portions are good. We always leave full and satisfied. We're lucky to have a Gu's location up here. I just can't frequent it as much as I'd like to.

Yelp
Second time no rice and they charge for it. I ordered 2 rice and one hot and sour soup. Got two soups and no rice. I am done with this place if you are going to charge a premium compared to others get it right!

Yelp
The food was tasty, and the prices were not bad. The customer service was great as well. Today was my first time going to this restaurant and I walked away with a smile on my face. I heard about how good the dumplings were from my colleague, so I thought I should try them since I was in the area. Today I got 6 chicken dumplings for $10 and ate them in about 15 minutes after I got home. While I was there the cashier greeted me, answered all my questions and then placed my order for me, all with a smile on her face. The cashier was very nice and answered all the questions I had. I got my order in about 5 minutes and it was packed so nothing leaked out. The dumplings were doused in sauce and they were very tasty. The flavor was there, and the filling was not lacking. A little order can fill you up fast. This place isnt the healthiest and its a now and then restaurant in my opinion, but it would be a restaurant I would want to go back to if I wanted a treat out.

Yelp
I've been to Gu's a few times now and have had great experiences! It's in Halcyon, so parking can be a little tricky to find because of how packed it gets bit there's usually spots in the deck somewhere. Gu's itself is pretty easy to find within the food hall and the line is minimal. I love their Pork Dumplings, they are definitely the signature dish and SO YUMMY! The Kung Pao Chicken and green beans are pretty standard (could use something to take it up a notch). The Handmade Thick Noodles are also fantastic and really delicious. My only note is that the food does tend to be really oily and the dumplings tend to stick together. In addition, because it's in a food hall, the food comes in takeout containers (other reviews complain about this, but it's a food hall not a sit-down restaurant so I don't mind at all!) Overall, Gu's is a pretty solid dinner choice at Halcyon so definitely check it out!

Yelp
Been to the one in Krogs. Since this place is so new, it has yet to develop a strong following. I think it'll be a nice reprieve from the other "Mally" food outlets. Like Krogs, Marietta, Ponce and so on. There were five that were open, Pita, CT al pastor, Sweet Tuna, Gu's and Holmes slice Pizza... There are a LOT of entertainment that has been developed for the people who can make an day or evening out of being here. Coffee? they have it. Brunch,? Yeeeeeep. Dinner? Of course! Soccer pool, yes! Cornhole leagues, why not? Plus a lot more including our furred companions. (Dogs)... I anticipate good and big things happening here they are in a growth spurt and a lot of people are liking to make this their homestead now. I look forward to spending some time here soon. Cheers...

Ashia H.

Yelp
I come to the this place almost every week and the cashier that they have working for them is slow and incompetent! They don't do want you pay for and tight with a penny, meaning they don't treat the customer right just care about money! If continue to keep that cashier you wont be on business long!
google avatar

Joel P.

Yelp
I would give them zero stars if I could. Never even ordered, had to leave out of frustration. Asked for extra sauce so they spent five minutes explaining why they needed to charge extra, even though we didn't question the extra charge. Asked for water, they said their machine doesn't have water, but their neighbors give water for free. Asked for a cup we can fill in the water fountain, they said they would need to charge us for the cup. At that point, we just left in disgust!

Eric M.

Yelp
The Spicy Crispy Beef is incredible and underrated. Served with cilantro and chilies, but no sauce. Add a little soy sauce and it pops. It's the best dish here in my opinion. General Tso's chicken is plump and good. They can make it not spicy for the kids too. The dumplings are great. We also enjoy the Spring rolls and Crab Rangoons. I like the egg drop soup, but it's too pricey here. Probably my only complaint.
google avatar

Yesenia B.

Yelp
Dan Dan noodles and dumplings to go. Not bad, not great! I want to believe that the food was cold and borderline over cooked because it was the end of the day. So I will keep my review short and try it again another day. Overall it was good enough to try again.
google avatar

Aparajita S.

Yelp
I was craving dumplings when I stopped by the Halcyon, so I'm happy the food hall had a place for it. I went with the Zhong style dumplings and got a black tea bubble tea as well. The dumplings were a bit on the pricier side but were worth the cost! They were quite flavorful and soaked in this chili sauce which was a nice complement. Overall, I really liked how light they were but quite filling as well. The bubble tea was also really good and not too sweet. Definitely check this place out for your dumpling cravings and make sure to order their special zhong style dumplings!

Yelp
We ended up in Halcyon while in the Alpharetta area & had to stop by as many places as we had room for! Gus was our first stop bc I've heard nothing but good things about these dumplings! And let me tell you.... The zhang dumplings are so scrumptious, so juicy, so flavorful... We ordered 12 for 2 of us & I really didn't want to share. We also got the mapo tofu & a side of rice. So dinner for 2 at ~$30. Not a bad deal! Tons of mapo! We had leftovers at the end of our takeout dinner. Mapo was excellent. Perfect spice level, perfect flavor, perfect amount. I would definitely order this again even though I literally want to try the whole menu. The people that greeted us - so friendly! Masks on but I could tell they were smizing. Love this place! And in Halcyon, so much to do, plenty of parking in the deck... You really just gotta drop by.

Yelp
This delicious gem of a restaurant was a most welcome surprise. Nothing fancy about this place, but the pork dumplings were delightful! The silky dumplings enveloped a nice spicy sausage swimming in a tangy, hot, sweet broth that was to die for. Great spot!
google avatar

Jeannine D.

Yelp
I spent over $70 on a large order of pork dumplings, green beans, and Mongolian beef. I was excited to try the dumplings; it's their specialty, right? Those dumplings taste like something that should not be eaten. Full stop. I had to immediately eat something else to try to get the taste out of my mouth. For all the money we spent, I ended up getting angrier and angrier that not only were they not good, they were terrible. I definitely won't be back. The beef was good. The green beans could've used a pinch of salt, but were otherwise fine. The dumplings were a traumatic experience.
google avatar

Julie J.

Yelp
The pork dumplings were very flavorful and would get again. The outside texture was chewy, and the sauce enhanced the flavor without it making it salty
google avatar

Marcus O.

Yelp
There's more than dumplings going on here. Gu's dumplings (and noodles) are legit! I'm not wildly crazy about the presentation -- getting everything in paper to-go containers, but I can overlook that to slurp down some dumplings, relatively close to home. The pork dumplings and the hand-pulled noodles I had were really good, chewy -- nailed the consistency. You're going to be paying a Halcyon premium to basically eat at a cafeteria food stall but not everything good needs to be gilded, right? I mean, it was north of $10 each. Portion sizes were nice, though. I was too full to finish. Anyway, good enough for northern Atlanta suburbs... but the prices will make this a seldom drop-in.
google avatar

Stacie B.

Yelp
UNBELIEVABLY good! Came here on the recommendation of many others and am so glad I did. While the prices are (in my opinion) VERY high, the food is extremely filling so you really only have to order very little for a meal. With that being the case (now that I know that), you can still get out of here for a similar price as at other restaurants. We had the chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, and an order of the thick thai sweet and spicy noodles (not on their regular menu here, but had a sign at the register for this). Everything was delicious. The sauce for the dumplings is a good amount spicy, so if you or someone you're with is sensitive to spice, just be aware of that. As good as the dumplings were, I think I may have enjoyed the noodles even more! The thickness of them made them a delicious doughy texture and the sauce was out of this world. I hope these noodles stay available at this location long-term as I would definitely return for them. Over all, an amazing place to eat. The only thing preventing 5-stars is the cost as I really do think it's too high. Particularly as they charge for every individual item (including rice, extra sauce at $1.50, etc.)
google avatar

Ryan P.

Yelp
Dumplings are good. But they are not worth the price. I would not recommend any other food from there as they will rip you off with the prices with the small portions. I am waiting for this place to be replaced. I hope it will be gone next year (2023). Bottom line: go elsewhere.
