Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken - Review - Sandy Springs - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken leans so hard into the small-town charm that you almost forget it’s a popular chain. The Sandy Springs location nails this “chicken joint around the corner” vibe with checkered tablecloths, handwritten specials taped to sunlit windows, and a steady stream of locals who clearly know it’s good. And we agree. The chicken is excellent—crackly skin, juicy meat, and slow-building spicy heat with each bite. The sides are great, too. The greens are sweet with a hint of spice, and the mac and cheese is gooey and paprika-dusted. It all feels like it should be served with a cold sweet tea and zero plans for the rest of the day. Come with friends for a plate-passing, table-sharing kind of meal, or solo at lunch when you just need to hit pause and eat something filling. photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman Pause Unmute Food Rundown Fried Chicken Bar-setting as far as spicy chicken goes. The dark brown skin shatters when you bite in, and the meat stays juicy with a good amount of heat. Chicken Sandwich A spicy chicken thigh on a big, buttery potato bun with pickles and mayo. Nothing fancy, just a fantastic chicken sandwich. PlayMute video credit: Sarah Newman Greens These greens go great with the chicken. Tender without being mushy, with a hint of hot spice. photo credit: Sarah Newman Coleslaw Get this. It’s creamy with a nice crunch from the firm cabbage. Simple and refreshing. Baked Beans This is another solid pick. It’s sweet with a mustardy undertone that adds some depth. Mac & Cheese Soft, creamy and cheesy with a generous dusting of paprika on top. Plus, we Southerners always appreciate the pairing with our crunchy fried chicken. photo credit: Sarah Newman" - Jacinta Howard

This was our first visit to Gus's Fried Chicken, and it won’t be our last. We chose a late lunch to avoid the crowd, which was smart. The chicken was excellent—hot and perfectly seasoned. The coleslaw and baked beans exceeded my expectations; I have no complaints there—they were delicious. The French fries were just right, and the mac & cheese was also quite satisfying. And let's not forget the beer—it was served ice cold, just as it should be!

Google
Great chicken, nice people, excellent service. We had an early dinner here tonight it was great food and great service. The chicken is spicy but not too spicy and very flavorful. It has minimal breading and reminds me a lot of the chicken I grew up eating at home. The other pleasant surprise was how good the sides were as well. We both had mac & cheese and my wife had greens and they were both excellent! The sweet tea was on point as well and my only wish is that they had biscuits. This restaurant is a prime example of how a small menu with quality ingredients and good service can make an excellent experience.

Google
So disappointed!!! I usually eat here all the time. But today the food came out HOT! Which is great. But under cooked. So freakin disgusting and disappointing. Unfortunately, my food came back up. Because of the look of the chicken. Now I’m sick. The collards are never consistent the Mac & cheese bland and tasteless. if you know you know. I probably won’t be going back. I’ve been going here for years. This is unacceptable.

Google
This establishment definitely has the best chicken in Georgia. Period. As a 10yr Army vet that served as a food inspector and a current student culinarian, trying fried chicken from literally 4 continents, I can honestly say this humble yet proud establishment in Sandy Springs, GA can hang with the best of them. The seasoning blend was simple but yet full of umami flavors. The service was professional, down to earth and makes an excellent tourist destination or local spot. It low key offers beer and wine options (if you’re a beer and chicken fan, look no further!). I ordered the half chicken because, yeah…I need to eat all 4 pieces before I sign off on it. I needed no hot sauce for this, but my favorite brand, Louisiana Hot sauce, was on display(normally a signal I’m in the right soul food place despite being in Atlanta). The fries were perfectly crispy and had the right amount of seasoning. To top it off, they donate the leftover food cooked food to the nearby St. Vincent. They are involved in the community. I would highly recommend patronizing at this establishment if given the chance. You will not be disappointed.

Google
Unnecessarily expensive. It definitely is great fried chicken, but $36 for a 8 piece is insane. The location and service do not warrant the prices. Good chicken, though

Google
Amazing HALAL fried chicken spot. Everything was super freshly fried, crispy and tender at the same time. Reasonable pricing too! Look at that plate

Google
So I went here yesterday and got the 3 piece dark all Thighs, Mac n cheese, and greens. Food was good and piping hot. Last time I went the Cold slaw paired so good with the chicken too, was fresh juicy and made to Order. It was a lil wait time but that's what fresh made to order requires patience so we enjoyed a freshly cooked meal.

Google
Piked up chicken plate for Togo and it was amazing. Hot crunchy, hot and full of taste. Highly recommended as they have change the quality and service form ⭐️ to 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Yelp
I was recommended this place via a coworker and I must say it was good! The cashier was not super pleasant and welcoming especially being a first time customer trying figure out what I should order. I felt like I had to hurry up to make a decision. However, the food was amazing!! The chicken was FRESH, HOT, and cooked to perfection. Nice, crunchy texture. Coleslaw and baked beans were really amazing as well. I was actually shocked that it wasn't packed inside. It was very quiet with about 4 people inside eating. I did see people picking up orders. I feel like lunch time and weekends are packed! I'll be back and can't wait to try another location

Yelp
The service is always solid. You come in and they make you feel mad comfortable because everyone is cool. It's free parking, and off of a large main street. So you cant. Miss it (unless you aren't looking for it). It's in a small shopping center so there are some other things there. The food at Gus's always hits. Never misses. It's always make to order so you know it's fresh.

Yelp
The food is pretty good, but the fried chicken is a little too spicy. I like spicy food, but I gotta admit, it is just a little more a little spicier than I like. The fried chicken is good, and it's especially moist and well made. And the vegetables are good, but what I don't understand is why it takes so long to make the food. Unless the chicken is made to order, which I wouldn't think it is, it just takes too long especially when there aren't that many people in the restaurant when I've been there. The servers and cooks are all nice and everything, but I can pretty much get that anywhere. There's just no sense of urgency there.

Yelp
Visited Gus' on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs twice in the last few months. My first visit was because an acquaintance visiting from Miami area told me of their experience. My decision was also made because they had a special that was worth value. the 1st visit was 4 chicken legs and 2 sides for $12 before tax. I sat in to dine. the legs except 1 was cooked to order. I can't remember my sides. maybe baked beans and Mac&cheese? I originally ordered slaw but didn't like it. I love hot (temp) chicken but this also had a little kick in flavor too. The price point Is pretty high for me and chicken so my visits would be sporadic and dependent on the special $. 2nd visit was. 4/19/2024. yep I chose 1 of the 2 specials. this day it was catfish or chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was my choice. I remembered several patrons eating them on my 1st visit. it was delicious. cooked to order. better than CFA. I ordered fried okra to indulge. the sandwich was a nice size too. they used chicken thigh; different right,? flavor oozing at first bite. I'll go back one day....

Yelp
Haven't eaten here in years! Fried chicken still delish with a crispy crunchy skin and a hidden heat. Problem is the extreme slowness of cooking said fried chicken, paint drys faster! Recommend for a filling fried chicken and sides lunch if you're in the area and have two+ hours to kill and not if you got places to be, at all. Which in today's world, who has free time like that?!
google avatar

Phung H.

Yelp
What place beats CFA in customer service? This place with Bobbbbbbby taking care of you. He is super kind, welcoming, down to earth, and very professional! The food is delicious with crispy breading. Definitely kick it up with some hot sauce. The sweet tea is a bit diabetic sweet but nonetheless southern sweet tea worthy. The overall restaurant is very laid back and casual, love it!

Yelp
I have eaten at this location for years. I will tell you that this is really good fried chicken but here is why I am giving this review. Over the years, the size of the chicken has gotten noticeably smaller while the price of the chicken has skyrocketed. I don't know how they will survive as the current cost of a 12 piece is $49.50 plus tax. You can get a 10-piece meal deal at KFC for $30 that includes two, large sides and larger chicken pieces. Now you cannot really compare the two as Gus's is WAY more flavorful, I cannot justify spending that kind of money plus tax plus tipping the server. All in a fairly mundane atmosphere.

Yelp
When you walk in, the ambiance of the different walls, windows, and ceiling provided a cool atmosphere of a restaurant. The waitress was very friendly, knew we were not locals, and offered to get a free piece of chicken to see if it was to spicy because she didn't want us to pay for something we couldn't eat. For me, the breading was spicy but was very good. I ended up pulling it off and just eating the chicken but everyone in my party including my little sister didn't think it was spicy at all. The potato salad was a little too much of a mayo/mustard taste. The bake beans were to die for. The seasoning/flavor was out of this world. I would definitely go again if passing by and or was a local.

Yelp
Location is everything. I love Gus's but this location does not compare to the original location that's in downtown Atlanta. The food is still good though and I enjoyed it but if you have the downtown Atlanta location Gus's, you can definitely tell the difference. The service is Wonderful. Friendly, accommodating and nice. I always have a welcoming family vibe when I enter a Gus's. Free parking outside for this location. Downtown Atlanta location is paid parking on the street or in parking garage.

Yelp
I found one of my favorite places on the road Gus's world famous chicken to eat first time was Memphis then they opened one in Long Beach Santa Ana California and now I'm in Atlanta Georgia and I found one Atlanta Georgia. Chicken was well cooked well spiced the greens are amazing so is the mac & cheese. The service was incredible young girl did a good job and let's get a cool interior. Kind of old-school worth checking out but remember put a lot of honey on the chicken and gives it that extra kick.

Yelp
Gus's World-Famous Fried Chicken 6518 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs, GA I tried the World-Famous Gus's Fried Chicken tonight, and it was delicious. I had to wait about 15 minutes because the chicken was cooked to order. I'm not sure if that's the process or maybe because of the time I went (7:30 PM), but it was worth the wait. A bit pricy, I paid $10.51 for a 2-piece white with no sides. Although, the chicken was hot, crispy, good flavor, a little spicy (but not over whelming spicy), and tasted very good, the pieces (wing and breast) didn't equal to the price. I expected larger chicken pieces for the price. The wing was very small, and the breast was smaller than the breast at Popeyes. When in Atlanta, I will dine at Gus's again because the chicken is GOOD. I will have to order a 3-piece to compensate for the small pieces. There is nothing fancy about the building itself, but the restaurant was clean, and the employees were friendly. They even sell beer if you would like to have a drink while you're waiting for your order.

Yelp
We stopped here for dinner. Very friendly and welcoming environment. We were immediately greeted and encouraged to dine in and stay a while. We had a wonderful conversation about our dogs while waiting for our food. Food was cooked to order. We had plenty of food to enjoy and share. The slaw had a bit of sweetness to it, and the baked beans were good. Chicken and fish were well seasoned, a bit of spice, but not too much. Fries were crispy, and we enjoyed the hush puppies.
google avatar

Edythe M.

Yelp
We hoped this one would be better than the Burbank location but were a little bummed. Chicken -AMAZING as always, spicy crispy and juicy. Mac n Cheese was missing something but was a bit dry and lacking something Service: the staff here are GREAT! Incredibly kind and welcoming. They were helpful and attentive.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Gus' chicken ever. I've been a patron since my college days, but man have prices increased like crazy. 1 star for food 5 stars for service 5 stars for ambiance As much as I love Gus' Chicken, it has turned into a once every blue moon type of restaurant. I'm glad that i used to eat at Gus 4x a month before prices increased! Out of respect for how fond memories, it's a 5 star rating (Prior to eating, note the new rating). But it begs the question of why a fried chicken restaurant is demanding steakhouse prices. Edit: looking at older menu prices, please feel free to note the below changes in pricing. 2 Piece Dark: $13.50 from $10.50; a $3 increase or roughly a 30% increase in price 3 Piece Wings: $17.25 from 13.50; a $3.75 increase or roughly a 30% increase in price. *note that the percentage increases are rounded up* Based off of memory... A 2 piece dark to be $7.50. In the span of two years, prices of increased roughly 80% to $13.50. For reference, if two people came in both wanting 3 piece dark + 2 drinks. The math would break down to the below (assuming a 07% sales tax) 2x 3 piece dark: $35.20 2x Drink: $7.00 Pre tax total: $42.20 Tax 7%: $45.16 15% Tip: $6.77 Total bill: $51.93 Edit #2: after eating the food, I am severely disappointed. The chicken came out hot, but not crisp. The skin was rather rubbery. The slaw was watered down and lacked any real flavor. The beans tasted as if it came from a can. The waitress/server was an amazing lady! Aside that, maybe it was just a bad day. Or maybe it was one of those situations where it the people preparing the food weren't happy. Either way, I regret to say that I will most likely not come back to this location in the foreseeable future.

Bree B.

Yelp
Overpriced. 2pc dark with 2sides. Typically comes with slaw & baked beans. Charge extra to substitute sides. I got greens (I appreciate them being cut thin. My grandmother cut them that way) and mac'n cheese (No ma'am. Small elbow noodles with velvetta cheese. So disappointing). No drink included. For $15.62. I definitely will not again. I know I can find better chicken at a better price. And they should be embarrassed to serve that mac'n cheese. Service was decent. Nothing special. Cozy ambience. It was super quiet when I placed my order. It took a long time (almost 30 minutes), so better to place a call in order. At least it was served hot and they have an 100% rating. I do plan to try the Friday fish special. Sandy Springs could benefit from a good soul food spot and/or a good fried fish restaurant

Yelp
The chicken was very tasty, though the location was kind of "divy". Interesting background from the beginning of their sales behind a tavern to multiple franchises thru out Georgia.

Yelp
This one is always a hot topic... who has the best chicken? If anyone tells you anywhere else that ISN'T @gusfriedchickenatl then they are wrong, it's your job to educate them and lead them to the right fried chicken path. I typically go to the one in Sandy Springs but they also have one in Chamblee and another in Atlanta. "OH but Raúl... this spot has better sides!!" ... I'm here for the chicken. Don't go to Gus's wondering what you're going to order, don't waste time looking up their menu... they've got FRIED CHICKEN. The only question you need to answer is how many pieces of chicken do you want. I can't say it enough as I'vebeen preaching about this spot for YEARS... Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is THE best tasting chicken, whether you're grabbing their bone in chicken or tenders... it is amazing. Don't believe me? Ask @fluffyguy who he himself took a bite and said "this is the best chicken I've ever had..." his words, not mine. Look it up, he said it My only ask is that you make sure you end this fried chicken feast with their CHESS PIE #rolieats #rolireview #goodeats #goodfood #goodfriedchicken #gussworldfamousfriedchicken #bestchicken #sandysprings #fluffy #fluffylovesfriedchicken #hesaidit

Yelp
When I was in Atlanta last time, I was told this was the best southern food spot. I was excited about the fried green tomatoes and the spicy chicken. The fried green tomatoes were good. They were sort of absent of a tomato flavor and were a bit mushy. But I did enjoy them. I ordered tenders, baked beans and greens. The greens sort of hit me in the face with the smell when they served me the food. I like greens and these were funky. The baked beans just seemed like canned baked beans and they were nothing special. The chicken was just ok. It isn't breaded and was hot temperature wise but was not particularly spicy. The table next me was mad and they complained about the stinky greens and the potato salad. I don't recommend and was sad it was $40 with a beer and a $10 tip. The atmosphere was in a mini mall and it seemed sort of thrown together.
google avatar

Faith F.

Yelp
The chicken is cooked to perfection. I did not know that it was a little spice to it, but it was very good, the fried okra fried to perfection. The mac & cheese so much didn't like it was like a pimento cheese, the potato salad and the coleslaw tasted as if it was store-bought, I love the souvenir cup. Yes I will return.

Eva V.

Yelp
The wings are entirely too small for $19. The prices are extraordinary for what you get. $19 for a wing combo and the wings look like baby chic wings. They are about the size of a small thumb. Very disappointing. The people are nice tho
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, service was great and the spot is simple and welcoming. Great fried chicken is hard to find, so Gus's will be a regular spot for me.

Yelp
FANTASTIC!!! Love Gus's chicken! But this location has the best staff and customer service! The only better than the chicken is Bianca and Drea!!! They're awesome!! Went with 4 piece 1/2 chicken with greens, slaw and bbq beans. So good!! Also, beer is really cold. Will be coming back!!
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Been here a few times now. It's very good fried chicken; fresh, juicy and really liked the collard greens. Both times above average service, nice, smiling, attentive people. It's a casual chicken place, clean plenary of seats. I would recommend it for someone craving real fried chicken!
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
First visit to this location. And although I have been to many Gus's in several cities throughout the Southeast this is the first time the chicken was not cooked fresh. It was a little bit dry because it was cooked ahead of time, so definitely points off for that. I had the sides of coleslaw and baked beans and they were as great as usual. Staff was friendly. I dined inside for lunch and when I left (apx 12:15 pm) there were no customers and the kitchen had two baskets piled full of cooked chicken with tinfoil over them. From my experience, one of the great things about Gus's besides the taste of the chicken is the fact that I've always been served the chicken fresh and hot. Cooking the chicken ahead of time severely diminishes the tasting experience. I'm not sure why they were cooking so much chicken ahead of time because I didn't see anyone rushing to come through the doors. In the 40 min I was here there had been only one other customer.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
IT WAS SO SO GOOD. Was skeptical due to place being very empty. However we were very wrong. The service was great and food was better. The chicken was hot and flavored really well. As goes for all the sides. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
I've been going to this Gus' since I moved out here 3 years ago. They've had alot of staffing changes/turnovers since that time but I wasn't concerned until they hired a young lady named Sidney. I won't go into details but last night, I ordered 3 wings and instead of putting them in one of the actual containers that are stacked against the wall, they thought throwing 3 pieces of hot, greasy chicken with a slice of bread in a brown paper bag was a novel idea. I realized it as I was walking back to my car and I immediately returned back inside to ask WHY wouldn't they have put it in a container? I was told by the little smart-ass broad (that I previously mentioned), that this is what they do. So basically, it's a standard practice to throw hot food in a paper bag despite having the appropriate containers available? So I spoke with the manager and asked for a container, which he gave me, and another slice of bread since the other one fell apart due to it being saturated with grease. I mean, I shouldn't be eating this fried food anyway but at least package it correctly to avoid issues. In any case, the manager is a pretty solid dude but I can tell he may be too nice with his staff because it doesn't appear as though she's eveer been reprimanded for her attitude/behavior and I'm CERTAIN I'm not the only one who's ever complained about her. I know she hasn't because if she had been, I would think she'd act differenly. In any case, I won't be going back becuase the next time I may have to put hands on her based on her funky-ass attitude alone. If you're reading this, go to the one in ATL. I hear it's much better anyway! This one was just convenient for me. I'm sure they're glad I won't be returning. lol

Yelp
Cross the road and get to the other side for this chicken. Fresh out of the fryer, it's crisp, moist and mildly spicy. I opted for a side of their cole slaw; rough cut and lightly sweet. Added a side of fried okra and that was a good decision. Always a nice southern accompaniment to fried chicken. Half sweet tea was cold and just right for the meal. I ordered a 3 piece platter but the drumstick wasn't yet ready so they added a wing, gratis. Nice touch. Enjoy a solid, simple Southern meal.
google avatar

Rich V.

Yelp
Friendly people and rocking good fried chicken! Come try this place out. Always ask for what special they might have but you must get the fried okra (and ask for ranch to go along with it.). Netonya helped us out last couple of times and she is awesome!
google avatar

Reen K.

Yelp
Social distancing and masks are required. They cool to order, so please wait patiently. I don't eat chicken, but my family does. My son, and his girlfriend ordered chicken tenders, fries, and baked beans. My husband ordered wings, fries and baked beans. I had 3 sides. Potato salad, collard greens, and Mac and cheese. NO CHICKEN, for me. :-) My family enjoyed their meal, and they helped me eat my choice of sides.
google avatar

Joseph B.

Yelp
The chicken is amazing. It is juicy, tender, and has exactly the right amount of heat. The staff is polite and attentive.
google avatar

TooHonest F.

Yelp
Hard to review since the food is delicious but the help all appear to not care about the environment. Chicken is to die for as well as baked beans. White bread? Well meh! And nuff said. Off putting environment in need of updating, employees wearing gang tattoos and clientele seems shady. Bathrooms are disgusting. I know this is Sandy Springs where dirty places are acceptable as the norm but I am wary of food sanitation conditions.

Yelp
I had a good feeling about this location from the moment I pulled up - the parking lot was FULL you hear me! I was a little nervous about the parking situation though, because there are about 8 spots for Gus's and the rest say reserved for the lighting store right beside them. However, it's the weekend, so I saw numerous people park in the reserved parking without a problem. You do have the option to dine in, but most people were doing take out - so things moved quickly and people didn't stay in the parking spots for long. Now for the food, I ordered the 2 piece white (breast & wing) with the French fries and potato salad and a sweet tea, which came out to $15.08. I wanted the fried okra, but was informed they were out. This seems to be a trend, because Gus's is always out of the fried okra! The French fries are decent, well seasoned - but nothing special you know. The potato salad is so good!! I've eaten at several Gus's and they do something different to the potato salad here - it is so dang good and flavorful! Definitely recommend it as a side!! Now for the chicken, very very very good and hot! Not spicy, but they do give you hot sauce packets to turn it up a notch. And lastly, my sweet tea was good! So overall, I highly recommend. The only thing that turned this into 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that they were out of fried okra and the restroom was extremelyyy dim. But really, the food itself - which is what really matters - truly is 5 stars.

Yelp
Know what this Gus doesn't need? Another wordy Yelp review. It's stacked but for good reason. Chicken is legit. I thought the chicken was supposed to be spicy, but it just has a bit of good heat. It won't chemically singe your taste buds off like Nashville hot chicken. I loved the taste and really enjoyed it paired with the kind of white bread that instantly turns to sugar in your mouth. I'm sure their other stuff is pretty good but for me ... chicken + white bread + beer = perfection.

Yelp
I ordered Gus's off Uber eats. I've had Gus's in San Antonio and it's always fresh and always tasty. This restaurant in Atlanta should be closed down as it is not indicative of the Gus's I've had. The sent me over cooked and dried out looking chicken. The fries were horrible and the vegetables old. I spent $49 for this order on Uber eats and was highly disappointed. They even forgot my tea. I was at a hotel and everyone that seen it said they wouldn't even try it because of the way it looked. I contacted Uber and was credited a full refund. This picture doesn't really do justice to how awful it looked. I tried to eat some but we just threw it away. I can't believe a restaurant would send food out like this. Take pride in your product.

Yelp
April 2022* S U M M A R Y Oh Gus, your chicken is definitely world famous. Those sides though ... don't even deserve a local award T A S T E Gus's had been on my list for a few months And since I was in the area and hungry I decided to stop by on a lazy afternoon. I adore southern food, it is one of my favorites, so my mouth is already watering before I even arrived. 3 piece dark plate - yes... I prefer dark meat, so that's why I ordered. They gave me two thighs and a drum, which I appreciated versus getting two drums and a thigh. You get a choice of two side dishes. I chose big beans and collard greens. I also bought a separate order of mac & cheese. I kept all of the sides the small size which is the default size. Welp... I regretted that. (The sides that is) I was skeptical about the chicken because they did not seem to fry it fresh - it was just sitting in a basket above the oil but mannnnn The chicken was out of this world! So flavorsome! Finger licking good! It was so well seasoned and so world fried! I stay about 20 minutes from here and the chicken was still hot and crispy by the time I got home, how they do this I have no idea but I'm just glad I didn't have to put it in the oven because I was starving. I regretted getting both collard greens and the macaroni and cheese. The collard greens were super overcooked and mushy. They had no crunch to them but they had a really good flavor. The mac & cheese tasted it too thick and like the only cheese in there was velveeta and cheddar. Sprinkled with paprika on top. The baked beans had the OG baked beans taste. Something similar to Mrs. Winners... You only know about Mrs. Winners if you are a southern gal and an OG baked beans then. But with that being said I would definitely come here again but only order the chicken. I would make my own sides at home and buy my cornbread from Publix baby. (It's a shame they don't sell cornbread) They have hot sauce, hot peppers and ketchup if you'd like. S E R V I C E Service was ok. Oh I asked the cashier for her suggestions on sides and whether she thought the collard greens and macaroni and cheese was good and her reply was "I like them". To each his own... Because I definitely did not like them. Anyway my food was out in about 5 minutes so no worries if you need to get food quick, it was faster than some fast food joints. Ambience: I actually like the inside. It was cute. It was like a mixed match hodgepodge of things... But it reminded me of like an old southern diner. It's very unassuming on both the outside and inside. But it's very clean and relaxing. I did not eat inside though I took my food to go. But it did take about five minutes for my food to be ready so I enjoyed the ambience for those five minutes. P R I C E 14$ for 3 piece dark. .50$ to substitute coleslaw for another side. 3.20$ for Mac and cheese. R A T I N G 2 stars of because the sides for me are just as important as the main. And you fell short on 2/3 sides. Plus cornbread for me is mandatory in any true southern establishment.

Yelp
A Must-Visit for Fried Chicken Fans! I discovered Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in 2021 on the recommendation of a local while visiting Atlanta, and it has become a must-visit spot for me every time I'm in the area. My first experience was at the Peachtree Center location, and the food was absolutely amazing. The juicy and flavorful chicken has kept me coming back on subsequent visits to Atlanta. This time, I had the pleasure of visiting the Sandy Springs location, and once again, the food was outstanding, the service was great, and we had a fantastic time. I always go for the two-piece dark with sides, and I've never been disappointed. Thanks to the staff for always providing excellent hospitality and service. Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken has truly become a favorite for me!

Yelp
Worst experience! Placed an order for take out, arrived to get the food, it still wasn't ready, came back after going across the street to Publix and they said they mistakenly gave my food to someone else, so then I had to drive my frozen items all the way home from the store to wait once again, total waiting time was an hour!!!! And for them to only give $4 off of my $51 dollar meal that I waited an hour for! I'm a frequent customer so this was just the last straw! They didn't offer much of an apology! They didn't care one bit! My dinner was ruined bc of their mistake and they did not accommodate me for an hour wait!!!! Won't be back ever! Food is way over priced to begin with!

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Gus' but this was not great...our chicken pieces were really small and a little dry. The flavor of the meat and chicken were good, but not the Gus I am used to. Beans were very watery too. All said this location is a three star.

Yelp
Hold.the.phone! That's what I said when I found out there was a Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in our very own backyard. My husband and I loved visiting and eating at the Gus's fried chicken restaurants at the Memphis location(s). Typically, it would be a joy to give out more stars, but the chicken wasn't as consistent as Gus's in Tennessee. The batter tasted similar, but it was a little too over fried- at least this first time. It could be it was a batch that was over fried. Pros: the folks at Gus's were super kind & friendly. The chicken was fresh and hot . Con: noticed when a couple of the waiters grabbed the trash cans to empty foods from the table, but didn't see them immediately wash their hands. They were wearing gloves when serving food. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and reminiscing our initial visit to Gus's in Tennessee. Parking: free

Yelp
I would say 4.5. Not great but very good! They cook it fresh and it's cooked to order. It's one of those rare places where the spicy is different from the original. Their spicy has a really nice kick, really nice. The breast's are nice size and not dry. Customer service is pretty good. Two negatives and they combine for half a point off. The tea ..... not very good. The portions of French fries is meager. Most places will fill your plate up with fries but here you get about 9 fries. Neither of these are remotely close to deal breakers, thus the 4.5. I don't want to call ahead like a lot of the regulars did. I want mine fresh and I'll definitely be back for more. You'll enjoy your meal, I'm sure!

Yelp
Fast, delicious and and convenient. The chicken was crunchy on the outside juicy on the inside. The unexpected was how spicy (delicious) it was... I brought it home for my kids... and I didn't know of the spicy factor... more for me...

Yelp
One of the best fried chicken places in the area. I have been a regular at this place since my 1st visit in 2017. The staff is always friendly. Food is always fresh, and the sides are as delicious as the fried chicken. My go-to order is a 2/3 piece dark plate with mac and cheese and fried okra or fries, depending on my mood . The chicken comes wonderfully crispy from the outside and juicy inside with a nice little spicy aftertaste. I would not recommend this location for dine in but it's my personal preference. I have seen many people dining in here.

Yelp
One of the best chicken places in the country and love when I end up in a city where they are! Spicy, crunchy and juicy! Beans were great, Mac and cheese was perfect and the chocolate cheese pie topped everything off!

Yelp
Fantastic service, very friendly and outgoing. Restaurant is clean and neat, and doesn't have any strong odor of frying, which is so often the case at most fried chicken. Our food was SUPER fresh fried, like we had to wait a good 4-5min to eat the fried foods bc they were still so steamy hot. The tenders are HUGE! The Mac n cheese was good, not dry at all. And the beans were a table favorite! The cole slaw was sweet and tangy. The fried pickle spears were so crispy and fried to perfection!

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the chicken and sides but today....My chicken tasted like it was refried and my macaroni tasted right out of box.

Yelp
The food was delicious! A little cold when I got back to the hotel but nothing a microwave couldn't solve. I'd recommend eating in. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the location was clean. Be sure to check them out when in ATL.

Yelp
Chicken is excellent, especially that fabulous crispy skin .... Might be the best I've ever tasted, matter of fact, and I've been around the block a time or two. Speaking of chicken, I knew Harlan Sanders and that guy was a character if ever there was one, but that's a story for another day. They have a good selection of sides and on Fridays they also have catfish which is very good also. Do yourself a favor.

Yelp
Very disappointing. My new coworker decided to take me to lunch. I had mentioned that I had seen Gus's up the road and had never been there. Off we went. I had expected them to be busy on a Friday at noon. They weren't. That should have been my first clue. I ordered the three piece tender meal. Normally checked tenders are always a safe bet. Not here. They chicken was way over cooked and dry. The sides were nothing to write home about. A can of Bush's baked beans would have been better. Scratch this from places to return to.
