This is a legit little French boulangerie that absolutely delivers. The food is fantastic, and the mille-feuille is hands down the best I’ve ever had in the U.S.—perfectly crisp, creamy, and not overly sweet. Everything tastes authentic, like something you’d find in a neighborhood bakery in France, with a great selection of classic French dishes and pastries. The space is cute, welcoming, and very fairly priced for the quality. A must-visit if you’re ever in the Del Rey/Alexandria area.

I popped in on a mild Winter day, and I tried the Iced Mocha with a slice of double chocolate cake. What I liked most about the Iced Mocha were the small shavings of chocolate at the bottom of the cup — they added yumminess when sipping it through a straw. The double chocolate cake was good, but the topping was on the dry side from sitting out in the open all morning. After walking a few more errands and taking my next snack break, I pulled from my bag the Everything Beignet. Mind you, I never do “everything” anything but I am partial to trying any flavor of beignet. Now this beignet was a nice size, fresh tasting, flavorful everything topping — simply delish! Then my tastebuds noticed the hint of lemon mixed in filling that made their Everything Beignet such a delight. All was good so far that I cannot wait to try the other goodies I bought on a whim. Sometimes when you stop in a place for the first, you have no idea you’ve stumbled on unexpected delights!

I used to really like coming to Gustave whenever I was in the area. Their sandwiches are really good, and still are, but it's also been kinda mid here lately. I recently ordered a pumpkin cream cold brew, and its mostly large chunks of ice. I could barely get my straw in, and the drink itself is very watery. I didn't get a full five sips and it's gone. I also got a citron tart, but I asked to eat it here and they couldn't even be bothered to give me a plate. It also started melting right away? I've never had a tart do that. I've been kind of put off, so I don't think I'll frequent this place as often anymore...

Great place !! To practice your French! Bonjour !! Pick a tasteful desert like the chocolate beignets with a touch of orange blossom and cafe mocha with real sweetened whole chocolate chips that are melted to order ! Or perhaps you can pick up a Jamon baguette! Oh la, la …. With another sweet made fresh every day tiramisu!! I love this place ! They also have drinks outside and playground for dogs and kiddos ! The owners are super sweet ! The community loves them! I so appreciate the greatness ! Merci!!

Had exceptional lentil soup (vegan) and a classic French baguette sandwich with ham and cornichon. Our server Jade was very helpful and friendly.

Literally a bakery from France transplanted into the United States. The fresh baked items are exactly what you would get if you were sitting at a café in Paris. The flavors are wonderful and the options are plenty. The staff is always helpful and they even have a back patio area where you can hang out with the kids or other friends. The true Jim in the heart of a wonderful neighborhood called Del Ray in Virginia. If you need a relaxing, community spot. Get out of your home office, bring your computer and do some work while you enjoy the wonderful pastries, coffee, and atmosphere. One of the authentic French Bakeries in the area that provide quality products. Service was great, but they were definitely busy on a Sunday mid-morning. Waiting line blends in with the ordering line and the space can get tight in there. Bring patience. Unless you have a large party or have kids, inside seating area or out front are probably the best option for you. Sandbox and outdoor spaces can get really crowded with kids and parents on playdates. 🤗 Fair prices for the area, especially if you value fresh products with better ingredients not the flash frozen stuff served by competitors.

The business hasn't been claimed on Yelp yet and is actually spelled GUSTAVE. Regardless, yum! I've peered in the windows at Gustave's since it opened last year and everything looked like true, French art boulanger art work. Today, I finally made it inside with a friend for pastries and cappuccinos and it was delightful. If you have chronic decision fatigue like I do, you may be overwhelmed while salivating at the counter. Here are my recommendations for you for before you walk in the door: (1) decide on choosing a savory or sweet item or both because they have several options under both categories; (2) decide on the size of your meal or snack- for example, Gustave's has large and mini beignets, thick slices of quiche and smaller savory tarts; (3) inside or elsewhere- Gustave's has a decent size of indoor sitting and small tables, but it can be busy. There you have it. Now go and get something at Gustave's!

Food and drinks are 5 star. But they have to figure out staffing. Multiple mornings I have ended up waiting 20-30 mins for a coffee and pastry. That's just too much. The workers try she is busting her but, but there's only so much one person can do when your have to do that many things and there is no help there. Hope they figure this out. Would love for them to hang around. But I will hesitate going in there again.

This is my favorite spot in all of Del Ray and perhaps even in all of Alexandria. Everything I've tried is nothing short of perfect. There is so much love and care put into every single pastry and every single cup of beverage. I keep raving about it to my friends and sending them over! I am hooked on their ham and cheese croissant as well as the spinach and cheese feuilleté. I also love the Nutella beignet, cappuccino, and hot chocolate (legit European-style hot chocolate). I stop by every weekend and I always want to try something new, but end up getting my usuals because I need my fix. One of these days, I will get to the crêpes and other pastries! The owners is a sweet couple from France and, from my conversations with them, it's clear that they're proud to be a part of the small business community in Del Ray.

This place has that je ne said quoi that's was missing from the area. Amazing French pastries and quiches. Lovely and friendly staff, busy bistro vibes. You won't be disappointed.

This is a new business on Mount Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray section of Alexandria. The food was wonderful. The woman behind the counter could not be more friendly and the prices were actually pretty reasonable. I hope locals will patronize this business and give the owners a fighting chance. I know we'll come back!

This place is top tier. Far better than any of the other outdoor spaces in the area! Excellent beer and wine selection! The owner is very kind and accommodating! Come check it out you will not be disappointed!!

Looking for a rustic French cafe in Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood? Come to Gostov's for authentic, freshly prepared eats! We got the Nicoise sandwich (essentially a Niçoise salad in a baguette, aka tuna salad with eggs and olives) and a Parisian (aka ham & cheese) sandwich. Both amazing, delicate and fresh. We washed it down with a light orange soda and an Evian. We finished off with an iced latte and a pan de chocolat. All delicious! So put on a beret and watch couples walk the left bank of Mt Vernon Avenue, visit Gostov's and you won't be sorry!

Finally!! A place that reminds me of the cafes in Vienna Delicious!!! Fresh! Delicate! Not overly sweet, but tasty You better get dressed now because you need this in Your life!

Such a cute little French spot! We stopped in earlier this week for some breakfast pastries. Got the raspberry croissant and a spinach and feta pastry. The spinach and feta one was crazy. I kind of wasn't expecting it to be that good but I would definitely come back for it. The raspberry croissant was perfectly flaky. Probably not the best croissant I've ever had but a good option if you like croissants. They were offering free samples of their salmon quiche and it was awesome. Really soft and packed full of flavor. Will definitely be back!

Fun place for lunch. Some outdoor tables. The salmon tartine was delicious. Didn't sample any of the desserts, but that can happen on another trip.

Cute little bistro. The options are fairly straightforward; they have pre-made baguette sandwiches and baked goods, plus outdoor seating. I had to look it up, but 'Boulangerie' is French for 'Bakery'. A 'Brasserie' is a fairly informal eating establishment. Both are very accurate here, although I think cafe or bistro are equally accurate. I believe breakfast food will also be available in the morning. The owners speak French but I think they are from Francophile Africa. None of the goods here necessarily scream they belong to any particular geographic area, but everything comes off as well made and a great place to get a bite and coffee.

If standard pumpkin spice lattes are too sugary for you, try the ones at Gostov's sometime. The chef makes up a house syrup that actually makes me want to order another. Same too with the spiced cider - made completely from scratch. Gostov's is a welcome addition to Del Ray, and it's worth going out of your way for a light afternoon bite, or to bring home madeleines or croissants for tomorrow morning.

One of the best coffee spots in the DC area. Their pasty selection is out of this world and their quiche is the best I have ever had - super creamy and decadent!

Nice new Boulangerie with clean indoor and out seating. They have basic offerings, I tried the raspberry which had very little filling and the almond croissant. Both were fresh but nothing special compared to the price.

Favorite spot to wfh in the neighborhood! Sweet family owned spot with some of the YUMMIEST freshly baked goods. You must race in to snag one of their baguettes before they sell out. Raspberry croissants are delish as well. I was really excited when they opened their outdoor beer garden. It's huge and spread out and quiet enough to work from, with free WiFi as well. Owners are kind and even work behind the register.

Came in on a recommendation from a local, and had the potato parm Faulette (?)- Awesomely buttery. Locals sitting outside in the ample seating, but I sat inside due to the possible threat of rain. All the pastries on display looked amazing, especially the apple tart. The server & chef speaks fluent French- and the ambiance is definitely Parisian cafe- and service is prompt & courteous! As a local, I welcome this opportunity to experience European cuisine & culture. C'est très bien! Merci!

I've been here twice now and I can't wait to return! We went for pastries the first time and everything we ordered was delicious! The Nutella croissant was amazing!! The second time we went was for lunch. We had sandwiches and quiche which were also great! (And another Nutella croissant because I am addicted!) It is very clear that this places knows how make baked goods. The store has such a great vibe too! This is a neighborhood gem and we will be repeat customers for sure!

Old Town is our home, but Del Ray is a fav destination. We love to explore the farmer's market and the dining scene on the weekends. On one of our adventures, we stumbled upon Gostov's, a gem of a bakery that serves the most delicious French pastries. We were lured in by the aroma of fresh baked goods. We indulged in lattes and croissants that melted in our mouths. We also noticed that they had mouthwatering sandwiches made with their own bread and quality ingredients. We decided to treat ourselves and our friends to a French feast. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and pastries and took them home. We made a platter of French treats, and our friends were impressed and delighted by the food. We all agreed that Gostov's was a keeper. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and we love to sit outside and enjoy the weather and the view. Gostov's is our new favorite spot for a taste of France.

Stopped in for just a cold brew which came from a instant ready-to-drink bag. The air conditioning inside was definitely not strong enough for the summer heat. Although cute on the outside, decor inside was pretty lacking.

My daughter has a deep love for pan au chocolate so when a new bakery opens (especially a boulangerie) we have to try it. The space is clean and open and the delicious smell of buttery pastries filled my nose even with the doors open. I had a ham and cheese croissant and my daughter the pan au chocolate. Both were excellent as was my cortado equivalent. The staff was kind and answered what felt like a dozen questions from a seven year old. I want to come back to try the sandwiches, the Brie, fig and prosciutto is calling my name.

What a find/treat! We loved the Italian (ham, fig jam and Brie) and the croissant with ham, plus coffee and blood orange soda, for lunch today. We ate inside because we found it too warm outside, but there is a nice bar and a big sandbox for children to play in while parents have coffee. Very French, very good breads and pastries, great looking menu, great service. We will be back!

Refugees from weekly trips to the late, great Rubia's/Stomping Ground, today my five year-old daughter and I made the trip from DC to try Gostov's. Would this become our new post-cello lesson hangout? Alas. We read the menu, and saw the sign in the glass case inviting guests to "create your own crêpe." My daughter asked for two items (avocado and cheese) found in the same menu item. The young woman at the register seemed affronted, and told us she wouldn't do it. "It's an 'on the menu' vibe here," she said. We walked out and got a donut across the street, never to return. Here's the thing: I get that some restaurants want you to have it their way. There are many good reasons for that. But when A) there is a sign saying you can "create your own crêpe" (the sign is viewable in today's Instagram story), B) the choice is simply to leave something out of an existing menu item, C) the item in question is made to order rather than pre-made, and D) the person asking is an excited five year-old, it seems a bit precious to refuse. And if for some reason you still must refuse, doing so gently and sincerely makes your position much easier to stomach. But that's just me, over here across the street, eating another restaurant's food. C'est la vie.

The initial impression of this French bistro is clean, efficient and welcoming. There is a tangible excitement to the space and the counters, equipment and staff are in premier shape and ready to make a terrific first impression. This is the very first day of operations and I was pleased to see other patrons welcoming the new addition to Del Ray with open arms (er, stomachs). The fare is light as this time, pastry, ice cream, coffee at the ready and understand that more heartier fare will be coming in due time. There's a small but well kept patio for outdoor dining as the weather continues to warm up. Overall outstanding initial experience and looking forward to experiencing more of the menu.

I tried 3 different croissants. Almond, chocolate and crème. The texture was disappointing. The outside should be crispy when fresh but instead it was soft like what you would find with croissants sold at a typical American grocery store. Based on the name of the establishment, I was expecting amazing croissants in the likes of Laduree, Maman, and Un je ne sais quoi but it was not. Also, I saw a fly in landing on one of the croissants. That was also a bit off-putting.

I changed my mind. Given that they charge $5 for an iced coffee, St. Elmo's is actually better and cheaper. Also, "boulangerie" is not accurate--Junction actually bakes their own stuff, this place not so much.

First time here and I love the place. Aside from the solid coffee and food, I love watching the staff interact. its a very pleasant place to be and it's uplifting to see a staff treated well and who treag customers well in turn. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful bakery. Has croissants and other French pastry. Has breakfast sandwiches and sandwiches and soup for lunch. During the week it's usually not supercrowded but weekends are a different so be prepared for a long line.

The sandwiches remind me of the ones in the widows in the small shops in Paris. The biscuits are wonderful. I have my eye on the jelly donuts for another visit. Shared a sandwich with a friend. Wonderful. Was there a few days ago early Saturday morning. Music appropriate for a French cafe. Today they were playing Lady Goo Goo or some such rot. Go to the Cap Center for that stuff. Next time I visit if I hear that spewing from the sound system I will walk out.

Disappointing across all dimensions: - Food: got the goat cheese and tomato quiche; the dough was flappy and there was way too much goat cheese (whole filling part was just goat cheese, basically no egg) - Coffee: espresso was slightly burned (not terrible, have had worse, but definitely not good) - Restaurant itself: there was no (maybe low?) air conditioning inside on a 90 degree day so we left after 10 mins to go to St Elmo's so we could comfortable enjoy a coffee. Ironically, the absent air conditioning was probably the only element that made this place genuinely feel like a Boulangerie. Also, there were several flies buzzing around, landing on the food - Service: service was...fine? Not great, not bad. This is such a prime location, I really hope the owners address these things because we (and the rest of the neighborhood) are always in need of a good breakfast / coffee spot.

This place is special and a great add to the neighborhood. Coffee is fabulous. Food is delicious. The atmosphere is lovely. Service is prompt and cozy. Great for coffee date, great for food and also enjoy bringing our little kids and letting them play in the backyard - there is a massive yard and sand pit and it's an oasis.

I think it is too expensive for VA, even DC. I had two pastries and one iced latte and it cost me $17.87. Too young men that were managing it on 6/20 seem to be very new to service industry and quite inefficient. Pastries were okay, nothing special.

The most authentic French pastries you'll find in Northern Virginia! As someone who spent time traveling and working in France, this is the closest I've come to reliving those experiences stateside. I've stopped in 4 times now and enjoyed a different pastry each time - all were divine. On top of the wonderful food, the staff are incredibly attentive (and will chat with you in French if you're looking to practice)!

We've been a few more times. The only good items are the croissants. All other baked goods are meh to bad. Madelines have no flavor, pear tart is poor and macarons are really poor. Everyone is really nice, but service is not super efficient. An OK spot if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but nothing to go out of your way for.

I absolutely love this cafe. Delicious food and very nice staff. I am so glad they have come to the neighborhood. Well worth the visit. It is my new go to sandwich shop.

I have done a taste comparison of croissants, baguettes, and palmiers from Gostov Boulangerie & Brasserie and also Fresh Baguette in Alexandria VA. I can testify that while all items are delicious and very authentically French, I can walk to Gostov's! The staff is very pleasant, the shop is adorable, and I appreciate all the care the Gostov owners put into renovating the corner shop, which is an asset to the charming neighborhood of Del Ray. Please make haste and experience Gostov's!

Fresh hot delisious baked goods first thing in the AM. What a treat. At the top of my list for croissants in Alexandria.

The pastries transported us to Europe! Ham and cheese croissant will melt your soul! Nutella Benignet was pure love! They certainly did not hold back on the Nutella! The cold brew woke us up! Only opportunity was having way too many choices! We wanted one of everything. Looks like we will be going back! Gostov Boulangerie & Brasserie is the new Del Ray gem! Go check it out!

Pateries are really, really good. Servers are friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming. I've been several times and will be back.
