Great area that’s really been developed in a fun way. Joined a friend for dinner. Before I get into the review, I’ll say the service was solid, friendly and knowledgeable. Net-net: I’d skip this restaurant, especially if you have any dietary restrictions. I won't be going back or recommending.
Ahead of dinner, I checked the menu for non–red-meat/pork options and was disappointed there weren’t many, but I suggested it anyway. “Disappointed” became the theme of the night. We arrived for happy hour and ordered the rosemary focaccia, which was delicious and easily the best thing we had. I also ordered the Caesar salad from the HH menu, and the flavor was absolutely crushed by anchovy. I only ate about half.
Since there weren’t many non-meat/pork options, I was choosing between the Margherita pizza and the Spaghetti All’Assassina. The server suggested the spaghetti as something different, so I went with that. The flavor was good, but the texture was terrible: the pan-seared spaghetti came out as a giant, hard clump of essentially dry-fried noodles, with a good portion burnt. That bitter taste spread through the entire dish. It was inedible. To her credit, the server noticed I wasn’t eating, asked about it, and I eventually sent it back.
Stuck again with limited non-meat choices, I ordered the Margherita pizza. Sadly, it was basically crust and sauce. There was one small dollop of mozzarella on each slice that didn’t spread when melted, so I was essentially eating pizza sauce on bread. They really should double the cheese to add flavor, texture, and any sense of richness. I get that cheese is expensive, but come on.
So: the salad was inedible, the spaghetti was inedible, and the pizza was technically edible but a total miss and very dull. My friend ordered the Roma pizza and said the flavor was good, but, like another reviewer's experience, it was so spicy that after two slices it was too hot to keep eating.
