Gutwinski

"This boutique hotel in the centre of the old town is the epitome of elegance – when it comes to both the guestrooms and the restaurant serving excellent cuisine. First-class ingredients – many of which come from the region – go into creating delicious dishes replete with international influences. The pan-fried fillet of Ramschwag char served with grilled baby leek, beluga lentil risotto, and a honey and lime foam is one appetising example. Choose from the set menu and à la carte dishes. At lunchtime, the slightly more limited selection includes a short lunch menu. The wine list, which counts around 250 labels, focuses on Austria. Handy for motorists: the Am Jahnplatz multi-storey car park is just a few minutes' walk away." - Michelin Inspector

This review is limited mainly to the restaurant! After several years we returned in August to the Gutwinski for a 2-night stay, based on great memories. On the first evening we had dinner with the extended family, a party of six. Nice outside patio, perfectly suited atmosphere on a warm summer night. We enjoyed great, tasty appetizers and mains as well as drinks. Since it was rather late when we placed our food orders we clearly checked twice about placing an order for desserts. No problem, take your time... First of all, the waitress never came back to check on us for anything additional. When we wanted to place our desserts we were told the kitchen had closed. We pointed out the earlier inquiry which was shrugged off. Desserts would get cold when the cook is leaving... Really? What a joke, since 90% of the desserts on the menu are cold dishes anyway. A similar low service attitude when the breakfast time closes in the morning. Afterwards you were not welcomed and indirectly signaled to leave. What a disappointment, definitely no longer the friendly welcoming hospitality and great guest service we know from all over Austria. If you want to be the top dog, you must do much better.

On the way to the mountains great place to stay overnight. A boutique hotel with a good restaurant attached to it. Kind staff. No 24hrs reception so better you arrive early and have dinner there 😅

Two night stay with breakfast.| Excellent location near good underground parking. |This hotel was clearly fairly recently refurbished and modernised but retaining a local style. A lot of money has obviously been well spent. The decoration is tasteful if a little dark. Nice lift. Lighting in the room was rather subdued - air conditioning really good. |Very nice breakfast area. Modern and fresh presentation of breakfast food. Lots to like. Receptionist K and her colleague were both efficient and lovely. There was little people-traffic when we were there.|Downside- we weren’t greeted or made to feel welcome at breakfast and perhaps slightly implicitly unwanted especially towards end of breakfast nor offered the usual charming eggs option. Minor gripes however. |Lunch in the pleasant garden was another matter. Very nice indeed, good food, nicely made and presented- served by efficient and cheerful staff with presence. |Generally a very nice private hotel, devoid of the sadly corporate drivel in its presentation and I wish them well. Best Hotel in this charming small town. I warmly recommend it.

We stayed here for a conference we were in town for, so the company picked our accommodations. This is a small boutique style hotel with a great location! It's in the heart of old feldkirch, close to shopping, restaurants and the conference center. We stayed in room #6 on the first floor of the main building. They do also have an elevator to all but the very top floor. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy, there is also a mini fridge and a hairdryer that weighs about 50 lbs. My only two complaints are #1 the room is small and had a lot of large furniture so we didn’t have a ton of space for our suitcase and belongings. #2 the bathroom was also small, the shower was not enjoyable as it was the size of a phone booth with a Phone Booth style door but the worst was there was no shelving to put any of your shampoo or Conditioner on so you either have to sit it on the floor or i put a towel on the toilet w/ My shampoos etc. and had to open the shower door every time I needed something. There is A/C in the rooms in the main building, it won’t go below 20 C but it was sufficient. Some of our colleagues were in the apartments and there rooms were so big but the downfall there is they didn’t have A/C, we were here in June and it was pretty hot like over 80 degrees every day. We also got free breakfast every day which was pretty good, fruit, cereal, pastries and eggs. If we come again we would stay here however I would probably ask for a corner room for a but more space.|

Very nice, ambiente, fine dining restaurant. Professional personal (just one minus - they are handling the menu repeatedly first to men then to women), nice atmosphere and really delicious food. We enjoyed steak tartar, lamm, garnellen risotto and some desserts in the end, everything was perfect. Before the starters they are offering house bread with truffle butter (butter was great, bread could be freshly heated and thus warm and crispy) but overall it was a very nice experience and would dedinitely come back again. Based on local experience, this is one of the best choices in the area. Reservation needed.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. A wonderful 4-star hotel at 3-star prices. Every employee was polite and friendly without exception. The rooms are well appointed and extremely comfortable. And a special heartfelt thank you to the desk clerk, Claudia, for helping out with a lost passport issue. Her kindness and generosity saved us from a disastrous situation.

So beautiful! In two words - plush elegance. Dinner outside was a delicious and memorable experience-just lovely. Complimentary breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was delicious. There was a machine that squeezed fresh oranges for juice. The only downside was that we couldn't figure out if there was air conditioning, so we opened the window (just the tiny amount allowed) and assumed it would cool down. Nope, that was the most uncomfortable night of our vacation. I regretted not calling to ask if there was sure conditioning, but it was too late. That is why I gave it a 4 star rating. However, if I am mistaken and there really was air conditioning, then 5 stars all the way!

Very beautiful and stylish hotel in the old town of Feldkirch. Rooms are nicely decorated and quiet, dinning rooms also stunning. Interior designer did a nice job there! Dinner was really-really fabulous! Big shout out to the kitchen. All we had was really excellent, including deserts. Unfortunately evening serving staff is strongly untrained to serve up to the level of promise. Breakfast was seriously catastrophic. Breakfast is from 6-11, but from 9.30 they start cleaning it, thus you can’t help yourself anymore. From 10am there is barely anything left. We came around 9.15 and lot of food from the buffet was missing or extremely dry and ugly looking. There is no one around to help you out. Two darker foreigners from the kitchen are cleaning and filling the breakfast buffet, with no greetings, eye contact or idea of professional human interaction or what star services should be like. Choice of offerings of the buffet was low under our expectations as well, tables are left dirty and uncleaned, you have no cutlery on the table. Manager doesn’t greet either, people are running in and out from the kitchen, bouncing with the dirty dishes in the washing area and disturbing the morning quiet mood customers are after. This wonderful place with talented kitchen chef would definitely get lifted up by more professional manager and then by him trained staff. Even through they serve up to Vorarlberger standards, to the international & wealthier clientele staying over it’s still strongly underserving …. The best star customer service offered one young shorter male waiter with glasses (we don’t have hus name), which could be inspiration for the team. Julia was also sweet.

Yelp
Wonderful! We dined with two kids under the age of 13 and had a wonderful experience. A wonderful way to end our time in Austria.
