Fancy Food Hall Le Central Is Coming to Place des Arts | Eater Montreal

"Office towers such as the Guy‑Favreau Complex sit near the Carré Saint‑Laurent site, and I was told their presence—along with new condo developments—could provide year-round foot traffic to support the food-hall operators through winter." - Tim Forster

I love the interior of this building and the facilities they are providing. I went their for an appointment at the service Canada office. However the waiting time for outside was prolonged but the interior structure of the building was amazing which helped to reduce my boredom level!!

Wanted to share my passport experience. It’s mid December and we are traveling in the beginning of January, and I have no appointment because they were booked fully till after our trip. I waited in the first line downstairs for about one hour, then once triaged in the main room upstairs I waited an additional 90 minutes. I was considered a standard/non-urgent case. I did see people come in and get served immediately, for very urgent cases. They have a very black and white system of “if travel day is x, pickup day is y” and you don’t get to expedite service to the next day for an extra cost if you want to, you have to go with the schedule they give you. I suppose that’s fine as long as the pickup day is firm, which it appears it’s going to be. All staff, security and passport workers, were kind and efficient. I had no problems receiving service in English. Will update if anything goes awry but considering the circumstances, I feel like everything went as well as it could have. I arrived in that first line around 8:45 on a Monday. You might be able to shave off some time by arriving just prior to the building itself opening. There’s a sign outside that says you are allowed to come in and line up as soon as the building opens.

Can’t even explain how happy I am! I didn’t realize my passport was expired and already had my flight booked for next week. Went there Tuesday without appointment around 9am with all my documents and got out at 10am. They’re well organized and it was fast. Picked my passport Friday and it took like 5min. Very amazed by the service! Excellent and swift:)

The security agents are... something else. More than once have I been fully ignored by the staff who refused to unlock the door to let me access to the parking garage, forcing me to go all around. Thing is: I'm in a wheelchair. Look, I understand that there are rules, but use your judgment. How do you expect a disabled person to access the parking garage when the doors are locked at 7. It happened twice, while the security agents were stupidly looking at me and yet refusing me access. Don't expect the complexe to be accessible, it isn't and the staff is ableist and incompetent!

Guy Favreau Complex is an administrative building housing various offices of the Canadian federal government. If you are looking to renew a passport or get information on your old-age pension or a multitude of other services, chances are that you will find your answer here.

Remove that "accessible" sticker you have, when leaving the convention center to go to the parking lot, they won't let us in to get to the elevator even tho there's a wheelchair user. The security just looks at us from inside and either ignores us or tells us to walk around the whole block instead of going straight to the parking lot -that we paid for-.

I was there for an urgent passport renewal at Canada Service office. I arrived at 8 am, before the opening hour. About 10 persons were lined up. The office is very organized and the staffs were knowledgable and collaborative. It took 1.5 hrs to get out.
