This was our second time eating at this restaurant, sadly the service wasn't as great this time as it was in the past. I had tried multiple times to call throughout the day to see if I could make a reservation, because I was t able to make one online, and the phone would ring several times and then hang up. We knew later in the evening they would slow down, so we arrived at the restaurant around 9pm. When I asked the hostess about the phones, she stated they don't answer them when they are slammed, and she also stated they had turned off the online reservations because they were so busy. Thankfully we were promptly given a table but had to wait several minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us. We had to repeat ourselves several times because she didn't seem to understand English very well. She frequently disappeared which meant we had to try and flag down other staff to assist us. Thankfully the food made up for the service.
We started with the "LOBSTER LOLLIPOPS-
tempura-battered lobster bites, Old Bay-smothered SMC* fries, roasted garlic + lemon aioli". These are a family favorite of ours and totally worth the money. The outside is crispy and the inside has a huge chunk of lobster. Then you dip it in the lemon aioli and it melts in your mouth. These are also served with a small portion of fries and could easily be an entrée by itself.
Another family favorite is the "DRAGON'S BREATH CHILI-
"low n' slow" cooked beef pork chili topped with melted cheddar cheese, sweet cornbread, sour cream, scallions". Just a heads up, the cornbread does have chunks of corn in it if you can't eat corn. The cornbread was a little dry tonight, but the chili was great. You get big chunks of flavorful meat in every spoonful. The chili does have a little kick to it, so if you don't like spicy, this is not for you...I would recommend the French Onion soup if they have it (it's really good too).
On our last visit we got the BACON MAC-N-CHEESE BURGER and it was great, but we wanted to try something different this time. So we got "PRIMETIME AMERICAN KOBE-
American-style Kobe beef, caramelized onion jam, smoked gouda cheese, cheddar cheese, onion straws, aged parmesan cheese, pickles + donkey sauce on a garlic-buttered brioche bun". This was a really great burger! Its one of those burgers where the juices run down your palms because it's so juicy. The meat was so tender and very flavorful. The only complaint er had was that we ordered it rare, and the burger was rare in the middle but more cooked on the edges, so we have to wonder if the grill had uneven temperatures. We ordered the burger with the fries which comes in 3 different cuts, and they were good, but nothing special.
We also ordered the "TATTED-UP TURKEY BURGER-
ground turkey burger grilled with poblanos, pepper jack cheese, topped with gouda cheese, ancho bacon, sweet peppers, red onion jam, LTOP* + donkey sauce, all stacked on a garlic-buttered pretzel bun". I'll just say that I love the donkey sauce. This burger was good, but the patty was a little over cooked on the edges. The flavors go really well together and it creates a kind of sweet taste on it.
I ordered the LOBSTER MAC-N-CHEESE which is half the cost of you order it as a side instead with an entree. The side portion had more than enough food to share with someone. There were large chunks of lobster which was great. The noodles were cooked great, but dish lacked flavor. It would have really benefited from a dash of Old Bay seasoning.
