I have wanted to try this place for awhile, and I was torn between delight and disappointment. First the good: the gals behind the counter were so smiley and nice. The dining area was really tidy. The menu is straight-forward and offers all the Greek goodies that I have been craving, living further north of Atlanta in an area that doesn't offer much in the form of Mediterranean restaurants. The quantity for the price is outstanding. I loved the condiment counter, with several options for hot sauces. The FRIES. Ohmigod. Salty, scrumptious starch sticks!
Now the bad: the parking lot is wretched. This tiny little strip is adjacent to the liquor store, so that afforded a bit of additional parking, but with Roswell Road's divided construction, getting in and out of here, not to mention finding a parking spot with the limited space in front of the other businesses here, was frustrating. It's no wonder other nearby places have either moved or gone out of business, as so many haunts between aforementioned liquor store traffic light and 285 have disappeared. (I have some fuzzy early '00s memories of American Pie.)
And the worst of the bad. My gyro plate was my Christmas demise. The morning after eating at Gyro Bros, I became violently ill, and was not exposed to any sickies, and can only attribute it to something eaten there, possibly from a lack of kitchen cleanliness or something having gone rotten. I missed out on 2 days of holiday festivities and hooplummings with the family, quarantined to bed and bathroom out of necessity. I would've loved the opportunity to celebrate with family and overindulge in seasonal grub, but my insides were positively wrecked. My entree tasted good (see fries above), gyro meat veered slightly into bland territory (improved upon by; see condiments above), pita bread was fine if not a bit dry (enter condiments again), and the side salad was mostly torn hunks of romaine, onion and tomato, nothing remarkable. The food was literally dangling off of the side of the plate, there was so much of it, and while it tasted good as I ate it, I can't say that I would necessarily want to risk that taste again having experienced it several times over for the days following. So my final recommendation would be to use the drive-thru, or eat during an off time of day when the parking lot is easier to get in and out of. But otherwise, fantastic service and a cute joint.
