The Guide To Affordable Eating in Beverly Hills - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Japanese BBQ chain restaurant you blacked out in four years ago at your roommate-you-no-longer-talk-to’s birthday party has made the list. Sure, there are locations all over America these days, but we’ll still stand by Gyu-Kaku as a solid Japanese BBQ place with one of the all-time best Happy Hours in the history of humanity. All cuts of meat are about $7 or less, with some items hovering just above free, and there’s even a 12-item pre-fixe menu that’ll cost you about $20." - brant cox

It was a great experience! Although we didn't make a reservation (we should have), we had to wait for a table for 2 for about 30 minutes. Luckily they do have tiny bar where we can sit and wait because there's a chance someone cancelling their reservations. We got seated and Timmy was our waiter and he was awesome! He was attentive and friendly. He helped gave us suggestions on how to cook certain things, he made sure we were taken care of. All the meat that came out were amazing! The garlic fried rice was phenomenal that we had to order 2 times! All in all, wonderful experience. They have parking space available although limited, unsure if it's comped or not because we walked.

Love this place. Our servers Ryan and Abbey were amazing and took such good care of us. Came on for the $32.50 ayce lunch special and they have happy hour toll 6pm all day. So much fun and love coming here. Will be back again soon. Always a good choice.

Google
Absolutely amazing experience. This wagyu spot in Beverly Hills completely exceeded my expectations. The beef is insanely tender — it melts the second it hits your tongue. If I could change one thing, I honestly wish the course started with the beef first. It’s so good that I wanted to dive into the meat before anything else. That said, the sides in the course — the rice, soup, and small dishes — are really delicious and definitely worth having. Everything is seasoned perfectly and nothing feels heavy or overly salty. The staff was super friendly, and the whole vibe of the place just felt right. If you’re in Beverly Hills and want a memorable meal, this place is an easy must-visit.

The lunch deal is really good, especially for the number of options you get. Food is pretty good as well. Loved the toro beef.

Lillian Rhinehart

Google
The harami, garlic noodles, kimchi and dumplings were a standout! The toro has great unique flavor, deeply savory and a little sweet, but quite chewy when cooked. The grills were sticky upon first use which made cooking more difficult. Staff was kind and helpful. Would recommend!

Everything is so good! And such a friendly group of people from Jonathan the General Manager to Gio our server. There is so much to choose for, but luckily we had a guided tour from our friend, and let me tell you, everything we had was so good! First of all, you can't skip the garlic noodle and the Bibimbap. They're must haves! For the meat entries, we had kalbi short rib harami skirt steak, bistro hanger steak, umakara yaki beef, and yaki-shabu beef. It almost doesn't matter which piece we ate, but EVERYTHING tasted so good! And don't skimp on the ponzu and sweet soy sauce , either! This is a restaurant that you want to skip lunch for so you can come in with a healthy appetite. Even the Nigori Sakewas delicious. Lastly, the mochi is such a satisfying treat as a palate cleanser. We left completely satisfied all around. Thanks Gio, Jonathan, and the rest of Gyu-Kaku!

Google
This BBQ place offers tasty grilled dishes and a fun dining experience. The quality is great, but prices can be a bit high, likely due to the prime location. Still, it’s a nice spot for Japanese BBQ lovers seeking flavorful options.

Delicious foods and an interesting concept, a bold move to let us cook our food. Make sure you can cook it well with the time, especially if you ordered a chicken. Nice music and I loved the cosy architecture!. The all you can eat price is interesting... (around 35$ for adult, 25$ for child under 12) but the regular grill options range from 10$-20$.

Yelp
Our guy Gio was outstanding tonight. Today would have been my dear Gramma's 99th birthday. We used to hit Gyu-Kaku all the time since she loved having lil bits of this and that. She especially loved happy hour and we'd share a beer (or two). Gio didn't know all this but he really made tonight special. TYSM

Yelp
I'm always in the mood for Gyu-Kaku, like who doesn't love Japanese BBQ! I particularly liked the one in Beverly Hills a lot since the service was great and our server was very friendly, making the experience just better compared to other locations in Southern California. All of their meats and appetizers are delicious but you can always choose a set to make it easier to order. Or if there is a Dine LA special go with that too! Food is top quality, and you can cook your meats as you go controlling how long you want to stay there for dining in. Love their sauces as well- ponzu, spicy and sweet soy. And don't forget to order s'mores at the end! Huge plus- they have a happy hour too! Check this place out!

Yelp
Bottom-Line: Results will vary depending on your location. The WEHO location was not an enjoyable experience. Try the one in the valley perhaps? Lowest of the low of japanese BBQ. Quality is grocery store level, and to add insult to injury, it took over 40 minutes for a carry-out order. I ordered the japanese Fried Chicken' and also a spicy chicken/rice with side miso soup combo. The Japanese 'Fried Chicken' was a heck no! Basically tasted like a bag of old fried grease. I couldn't detect any, and I mean any chicken whatsoever. And while the chicken rice bbq combo was spicy as ordered, the chicken was so tough and overcooked, it tasted like a weeks old refrigeration.

Yelp
We eat here if not weekly then every other week. The service team at this location is amazing. Like I love seeing them and they are absolutely incredible. The food is good and fresh - never had an issue. We opt to get the higher quality meats - they just taste better. The ramen is also good and beer is nice and frosty. Very family friendly too and that's awesome. I have been to other locations but none too this one.

Yelp
This review is for the ambiance. What is going on here? Last couple times I came here, the vibe was really dismal. The walls have dents, paint chips and previously good. The seat cushions were ripped. It's in Beverly Hills but def giving ghetto vibes. Service was fine. Wouldn't say it's great. Had to ask for water and follow up to get someone to fix the flame in our grill. The ambiance and service was really lacking. It is a small lift to just repaint the walls guys. Please. And maybe wipe down the tables so the aren't sticky. Everything just felt gross.

Yelp
I always order a la carte now so I don't overeat on AYCE. I honestly spend less this way too. It's a standard cook the meat yourself experience. The booths are kind of old and need replacing, but aside from that, I had a great time and the food was good.

Yelp
This is our third time back Thank you so much Gio for your excellent service We have had a great time here at Gyu Kaku The quality is great with a very reasonably priced Highly recommended

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. I loved all the meats we had. The service by Zander and the staff was also wonderful. Everyone was so attentive the entire time. I truly appreciate everyone staying on top of our request for me and bringing us all our food. The music was great. The vibe was Vibing thank you.

Yelp
Excellent service, but a little pricey if you're not a big eater of meat Luckily, they give a discount for seniors.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Filet mignon is. 8/10 it's good but super lean and kind of bland Premium sirloin is so good that's the best

Yelp
Food, service, ambience- I this place is delicious! The service was 5 stars because of our waitress, Camilla! She was always looking out for us and explained the meats and cooking in a way you would want. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
is RYAN A MANAGER YET!?? I've been coming here for a minute now. & I've been to so many different chains. THIS BY FAR exceeds all of them! Ryan has been the best server were always so thrilled to have. He remembers what we like and always notices when the grills need to be changed. His customer service skills are far more noticeable than any place we've been to. I love going out and trying new places, but this is always my go to spot knowing I won't be let down. We look forward to always seeing Ryan and the food here is just so fresh tasting. It truly doesn't get better than this spot! The ambiance is always warm & welcoming. We hope to come again more often even though we moved further.

Yelp
Food is always good at any Guy-kaku, I did feel like the meat was more flavorful here and I really enjoyed all the food that was served. The lighting threw me off though as I had track lighting in my eyes and had to switch sides with my husband as they were unable to dim the lights. And service was decent but not amazing. But overall I would come again as the food is excellent.

Yelp
First of all, we always love coming to this location for the ambiance & amazing service. With that said, we haven't been back in a very long time & what a treat it was to have Zander as our server! Just a darling human who doted on us in all of the right ways - such a kind soul & we are grateful. And of course, the food is top-notch chefs kiss every single time. HIGHLY recommend for a delicious good time.

Yelp
I hadn't been to GyuKaku in over a decade but a friend suggested we go. The staff was nice and attentive. The food was good But I will say some of it was overseasoned. A couple of things like the egg drop soup, seaweed soup, one of the meat, some stuff were just a bit too salty. The yuzu avocado salad was nice and big and enough for three of us to share. The cocktails were also a bit too sweet so I'd personally stick to sake, the sparkling sake was nice. The meats come in smaller portions than in places like KBBQ but still good and obviously if you're doing AYCE it's perfect so u don't over order. I'm not sure about parking but we went on a Monday night and found easy street parking nearby. Over all it was good but for the price I think I like kbbq spots better for doing all you can eat.

Davon J.

Yelp
We wouldn't say it was just a good dinner, it was excellent. The staff was amazing, the food was fresh, and everything came out quickly. One of my daughters loves Japanese barbecue, and the other usually isn't too into it, but both left full and happy we came. It was a great day, topped off by outstanding service. We'll definitely be back. We had a lot of fun, and the Supreme All-You-Can-Eat was well worth it.

Yelp
Excelente !! Thank you for your service! Was very attentive to us making sure that we were good ensuring that if we need anything, we appreciate a service amazing amazing person. You should definitely give him a race. He's a keeper. Thank you Zander

Yelp
Zander was a great server! He was so nice and sweet :) Also, the food was INSANE. GET THE TORO BEEF

Hakeem P.

Yelp
1 star is being generous. Our server, whoever she was, was not attentive. She forgot our drinks and never came around to ask we needed anything else. Had she came back we would have ordered more food but instead we had to flag someone down and just ask for the check instead because we were tired of waiting. Won't be returning to this location.

Yelp
Gyu Kaku is an irresistible draw for any discerning palate, effortlessly combining exceptional food with an inviting atmosphere. The allure begins with their generous happy hours, which stretch enticingly through most of the day, but it's the culinary experience that truly captivates. Their beer towers, designed for convivial gatherings, add a spirited touch to the dining experience. The staff, ever amiable and attentive, enhance the warm, welcoming vibe that makes each visit a pleasure. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between lively and cozy, creating a setting that's as appealing as the menu. Among the standout dishes are the spicy tuna crispy rice and the delectable garlic noodles, each offering a burst of flavors that linger long after the meal. The tender chicken, savory fried rice, and succulent pork dishes exemplify the kitchen's expertise. Favorites like the perfectly grilled skirt steak and the indulgent broccoli with cheese further underscore the restaurant's culinary prowess. In a city teeming with dining options, Gyu Kaku remains a beacon for those seeking both exceptional food and a memorable dining experience. S/o to my mogul colleague who introduced me to this beautiful establishment.

Yelp
Great Japanese BBQ spot with high-quality food and a chill, fun atmosphere. What really stood out was the service--our server, had the coolest nails (not sure what his name was), he was super quick, thoughtful, and on point the whole time. He made the experience smooth and enjoyable. Definitely coming back! Cant express my gratitude for his wonderful service. Also I loved the peach Bellini.

Yelp
The only thing better than the entree selections, was our server, Zander. We were looked after so well, and we had an amazing experience.

Yelp
Just had an amazing meal at this beautiful restaurant! Zander and Laurice made us feel so comfortable and welcomed! They made our meal and experience even better!

Yelp
I've been ordering the bogo fried rice combo for work every week. It is a lot of food and you get 2 combos for $14. Combo includes fried rice with meat, salad, and soup. You get delicious sauces to pair up with this. It's a lot of food for the price and def worth trying. Best bang for your buck for Gyu kaku!

Yelp

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Gyu-Kaku in Beverly Hills. The food was amazing, but what truly made the visit special was the incredible service. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to the manager, Jon, for being so professional, warm, and genuinely attentive. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience, and it showed in every detail. It's rare to feel that taken care of at a restaurant--10/10 service. Thank you, Jon and staff!

Yelp
Worst service I have ever seen. Their staff is horrible. Rude, they make their rules as they go. Never coming here again.
google avatar

Ashanti Q.

Yelp
Thank you so much to Zander! His customer service was above and beyond amazing! Very kind and attentive! It was our first time here and had a great experience because of excellent service from him.
google avatar

Tiffany F.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Food was okay- as expected for gyu-kaku. With some dishes especially- the taste can be a hit or a miss. Same goes with the portion (depending on what dish you order). Service was okay- nothing to rave about, the minimum expected. If you need anything, you do need to wave people down. Am I dying to return here? Not really. Should you come out of your way to eat here? Not really. Casual date night? Sure. Will it satisfy your bbq cravings? Yeah, sure.
google avatar

Toni R.

Yelp
All you can eat is well worth it!! Zander was a fantastic server, super attentive and sweet!

Maty D.

Yelp
Every time I'm here it's the best experience! Laurice and Gio are phenomenal servers that make the experience phenomenal. The kimchi, spring rolls, and assortment of meats are incredible. I come once a week and I need to be sat in their section!

Angela F.

Yelp
We love this place!! Thank you for a great experience!! Luis, Henry, and Abbie took great care of us and managers Mike and Jonathan stopped by to make sure that everything was perfect. Hostesses Maryna and Dani always make sure we have a great table as well! Highly recommend the Harami miso, Karage Chicken and the Spicy Addicting Cucumbers! Great prices and app with points toward FREE food!

Yelp
Was craving some Japanese bbq while I was visiting LA. Given that Gyukaku is one of my go-to chain restaurants, I didn't hesitate to visit the LA location - but that turned out to be a mistake. After placing our order, we waited for about half an hour before getting the appetizers we ordered. Our waiter was nice - he explained that the kitchen was understaffed (on a Mother's Day weekend by the way). In addition, we also noticed tables that arrived way after us got their food ahead. Overall, the food quality and quantity were on par with other Gyukaku locations (maybe a little more messy for presentation of appetizers). Deducting two stars mainly due to inefficiency.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
As we sat down, the hostess presented several different menus, there was the a-la-carte menu, the all you can eat menu, the valentine's day menu and the bar menu. I ordered a Sapporo beer and when he returned, he told me that they were out of Sapporo beer and suggest sake. I ordered a Kirin draft. We ordered a salad and a few items to grill and the food started the food started to show up fairly quickly. Overall, the staff was friendly and the service was good. At one point during the meal, I made a comment to my friend about the ambiance, I had worked in restaurants and pre and post service, we would crank up the music and we would get loud. The moments guests arrived, we behaved professionally. I could hear a lot of socialization between the staff and it one of the employees was having a birthday. It was a nice that the staff wished him a happy birthday and sang happy birthday but it by the end of the meal, this had happened at least 5 times. I kept wondering, does the staff not realize that they have customers or is this they way that carry on? It wasn't a pleasant experience.

Perline A.

Yelp
I will never set foot in this restaurant again. The hostess is an absolute disgrace of an hostess. She is condescending and rude. The food is substandard and full of fat. I have been to other locations of the same brand restaurant and they were much better.
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
I frequently visit other gyu locations and this one is by far the worst. They forgot some of our parties items in their SELECTED course where everything is listed out... Multiple hairs in our food. Terrible service, not following up. Not filling waters. Having to ask for our ONE meat order that we placed 15 mins ago. Our waiter was in the back doing dishes just watching us sitting there waiting to finish. Made eye contact a couple times as I was just sitting there. Only half the restaurant was full. The whole front half empty. They're running around cleaning like madhouses but no one check up on their tables. Very disappointed and won't be coming to this location again.

Yelp
Laurice and Gio are my favorite servers! They're super nice and funny. Love this place

Yelp
Service was amazing. Food was amazing as well. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend coming in on Sundays for a Sunday funday experience.

Yelp
The hostess Laurice was amazing! Tracy and Abby were excellent! We had a great time and the food was delicious!

Yelp
Great service at this location. Good food as always, although one of the spicy meats was pretty salty.

Yelp
I've eaten at quite a few Gyu Kaku in the past, and it's on my regular rotation of restaurants. This location was a first for me. I arrived around 11:30am for lunch and they took over half an hour to get our order out, long enough that they felt the need to apologize with free edamame. That's nice, but I was still unhappy that other tables that arrived after us were getting their food before us. Overall, food was fine. Not too much worse than other ones I've been to. Portions were good, but I was really hoping the team would be a bit more ready when they opened (half hour before we arrived).
google avatar

Roy J.

Yelp
Camila was awesome! She took care of us and made the whole experience amazing and the food was verry delicious!

Kimberlyn M.

Yelp
Disappointed and Unwelcome Experience I came here with a group of four to celebrate a birthday, and unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed by how we were treated. We were initially seated at the tiniest table, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. When we asked to be moved to a booth for more comfort, the host agreed--only to then redirect us to a cramped half-booth instead of the full booth we were walking toward. When we asked why we couldn't sit in the full booth, we were told it was being held for a larger party. Yet right behind us, a couple--just two people--was seated in the exact kind of full booth we were being denied. The restaurant was not busy, and it felt like a basic request for accommodation was being intentionally ignored. We made it clear that we were celebrating a special occasion and still weren't treated with the courtesy or flexibility you'd expect. It truly felt like they didn't want our business. So, we decided to leave and drive to Burbank location , where we were welcomed with much better service. Very disappointing and unprofessional. I won't be returning.

Yelp
Geo and Xander making dreams come true. While I always come here for the food, the service tonight was exceptionally phenomenal.
