First time coming and with my family of 8 for Saturday dinner.
My uncle and aunt raved about this place when they came last month, they said the server they had (Kevin) was so attentive and quick. However, they came on a Thursday night but they said it was still busy and crowded.
This time, we arrived around 5:15pm. Wait time was 15-20 minutes, they recommended we reserve a table next time in case the wait time is longer.
We got seated pretty quickly, we sat somewhere in the middle after the kitchen. We ordered the 50$ premium ayce. Our first round was ordering a bunch of appetizers and meat. I didn't realize how busy it got and how little the portion of meat they gave:
Garlic edamame was delicious and super garlicky
Gyoza and spring rolls were crispy but tasted like the ones you buy from the freezer section
Kimchi and cucumber salad were crunchy and seasoned well, not too spicy
The seaweed soup was warm and the white pepper gave it a distinct taste, my dad drank two
The cabbage salads came very late, but they were amazing (I recommend the spicy one as it was super flavorful and wasn't spicy at all)
The half salad never came...
The meats were confusing, I only knew which one was the pork belly because of the color.
Pork belly was super flavorful and tender
The only beef one I can differentiate was the New York steak which was tender and amazing
There was a cubed beef that was super chewy and I was not able to eat it :(
Calamari was good, make sure it's cooked throughly to get rid of the fishy taste and not too well done as it can get really rubbery.
There is a 90 minute time limit, not sure how they track but the time we went they were really slow in getting things out of the kitchen. Unfortunately they were really short staffed in the kitchen and super full in the seating area. The servers were running back and forth as many tables were still idle and waiting for anything to come out. Luckily, my family didn't need to eat much to feel satisfied, they ordered mochi ice creams and smores. The favorite from them all is the green tea.
It did take us more than 90 minutes to finish eating. A strange thing happened towards the end, our server squeezed lemon on the meat and told us she will change the grill so we had to take the meat off. So we did, but she never came back. Which made me want to laugh because I had no idea what happened.
Luckily the meat was medium rare and all beef so we ate it and left.
Overall, I enjoyed most of the food. Although service wasn't as great as my family's previous time, it was still pretty good.
Parking nearby was 15$ (all day). Street parking is always full and 2hour limit (metered). However, most of the parked cars had their meters on red, and it felt like no one was monitoring them, but I don't want to risk getting a parking ticket.
Seniors (age 60+) are 37$ instead of 50$, which my family (except me) were priced. It also makes sense given they barely ate anything and didn't take long to feel full.
