I visited your store recently to purchase a large number of snacks for my workplace, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
The cashier named Tan was quite rude and unprofessional--there was no greeting or acknowledgment whatsoever. The other three cashiers nearby were occupied chatting with one another instead of assisting customers. Tan asked me, in broken English, if I needed a bag. I clearly replied, "Yes, I need a bag." She then continued repeating, "You bag," and I kept responding "no" because I didn't understand what she meant. I even asked if she could get help from another cashier, but she ignored my request.
She scanned my items with visible frustration and treated the transaction with a poor attitude. Once she was done, she called another cashier named David, who had just finished with a previous customer. In front of me, Tan said to him, "I asked him bag, but he said no." David then told me that it was "common courtesy" for customers to bag their own items. I explained that I had said I needed bags, but that I did not agree to bag the items myself. He continued to argue until I asked if it was actually required for customers to do so--at which point he stopped responding.
The staff need to understand that bagging items is part of their responsibility, especially when there are no other customers waiting. The other three cashiers were still chatting while my items were being scanned. Basic customer service should include greeting customers, offering assistance, and treating shoppers respectfully.
I spent more than $500 during this visit, and I will not be returning to this store. It's disappointing to see such poor service and lack of professionalism. Megamart and other Asian supermarkets provide a much better customer experience.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides proper training to Tan, David, and the other staff to ensure that future customers are treated with courtesy and respect.
I will definitely bring this up to the management and to their corporate office.
