Twelve Hotels With Sights Set on Sustainability

"A 19th-century building in central Rome, just to the east of the Piazza Venezia, is where you’ll find H10 Palazzo Galla, an 82-room outpost of the Spanish-born H10 hotel chain. Across all H10 properties, an ambitious sustainability program aims for the following goals by 2030: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent, reduce water consumption by 20 percent, and reduce waste by 25 percent." - Mark Fedeli

I stayed here for part of our honeymoon europe trip and I got to say I’m so impressed by this hotel! I’m very particular about cleanliness and the small details and this hotel and the room is spotless! The bathroom shower was so nice (water pressure is great! and there’s a rainfall shower), the toiletries smelled so so good and leave your skin so nice! They add in things such as slippers and robes even complimentary water and an umbrella to borrow in case it’s rainy in the city, making it more like a five star hotel in my opinion!! Pillows were nice and soft, mattress was comfortable and firm! The windows open up so you can get some nice fresh air! The check-in process was so smooth and they were very accommodating and they let us check-in early. Staff is very nice and friendly, and the hotel and rooms were nice and quiet. I think this hotel is a great deal for its price, I tried a few others in rome and this is number one in my books. Will definitely check out more H10 hotels and will come back to this one whenever I’m back in rome!

We recently stayed here during a 3-day trip to Rome, and our experience at H10 was mixed. The good....the staff were (mostly) kind and helpful throughout our stay, with the exception of a few snarky workers at the bar & restaurant. We booked a large 2-room suite with a balcony which was lovely, spacious, stocked with nice amenities, and the beds were comfortable. The location of this hotel is also nice and within an easy walking distance to many attractions. The not-so-good....the food at the restaurant was absolutely disgusting, overpriced, and flat out inedible. We paid $100 for breakfast for three, and the scrambled eggs were watery and they tried to pass off a hot dog as breakfast sausage. Nowhere else in our European travels did we encounter this. It was positively repulsive. Equally as repugnant was the smell in the hotel. I'm not sure if they were cleaning carpets or what was going on, but there was an absolutely overwhelmingly nauseating smell of carpet powder that made us sick. We paid over $700/night to stay here and having paid the same amount the week prior at The Cotton House in Barcelona - THAT was a FAR better value for the money, and the hotel was significantly nicer, too. Based on our entire experience, we likely wouldn't stay at the Palazzo Galla again.

We have been in H10 Palazzo Galla for a whole week and we really enjoyed this pleasant stay!||The hotel is located in the heart of the city, close to Piazza Venezia with a walking distance to most of the beautiful monuments and sightseeings (Colosseum: 10 min, Forum Romanum: 5 min. Trevi Square: 5 min.).||There are plenty of very good restaurants with traditional roman food at resonable price in close proximity. During our stay, at the day of "Festa della Repubblica" we were lucky to watch the corso of the italian president in his open car and the tricolore of the fighters in the sky.||We booked room category "Superior Roma" and the room with air condition was very comfortable. Each evening, the "sleeping man" (I called him as such) was preparing the bed and arranged the house shoes and the sleeping dresses, also putting some cookies onto the bed.||The breakfast was of high quality with italian specialities. There was an open breakfast buffet and in addition it was possible to order extras from the menu card such as eggs (fried, scambled, ..) , different kinds of omlettes, various side dishes (incl.sausages, mushrooms, bacon, beans) and sweets (waffels, pancakes), all prepared and served for you!||At the birthday of my wife, the kitchen staff prepared a little warm chocolate cake for her in the morning. The entire hotel staff was very friendly, helpful und attentive. The service in the hotel was exceptional. We also got lots of recommendations where to go and where to eat.||Also to mention the spectular view from the rooftop of the hotel! You will have an amazing 360 view all over the city (including Colosseum, Centro Storico, Vatican City) and you can enjoy and relax with your drinks on the rooftop bar at sunset.||We thank you all for the great time and hope to see you again.

We were immediately greeted by several staff members, offering warm welcomes and cold water on a hot day. They promptly brought our bags to our rooms and ensured we had everything we needed for the stay. The lobby was vibrant and modern and the rooms well furnished and comfortable. We appreciated the extra space that a suite offered. The breakfast offered many choices, with cold items setup as a buffet and hot items ordered from the kitchen. Easy walk to many popular sites, restaurants and gelaterias. Try restaurant Melo just around the corner for authentic pasta carbonara. I would choose this hotel again without question.

Had a wonderful experience at the hotel. Starting at the check in - the front desk stuff was so nice and friendly, they brought welcome drinks which was very nice. The hotel lobby is very clean and cosy, many places to seat down, relax and order a drink from the bar. Rooms are clean, esthetic and the housekeeping stuff are so nice. Location is great - quite but close to everything. Can walk anywhere. And also, there is a nice rooftop at the top floor. I will absolutely come back in the future.

We had a fantastic stay. Our first time in Rome and couldn’t be a more perfect location to get anywhere we wanted to go! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms were very clean and nice! Would recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

This hotel is extremely overpriced for what it offers. The service and location are more in line with a 3-star property, despite the 4-star pricing. While the staff are kind and well-meaning, it's clear they haven’t received proper training—especially noticeable during breakfast, where you're expected to place your order while standing and juggling plates from the buffet, rather than being seated first. The food was disappointing; the “avocado toast” was made with a green paste that didn’t taste anything like real avocado. On top of that, the laundry prices were outrageous—€12 just to wash a single piece of underwear. You expect the 4-star hotel to offer good food options, but not this place. Booking from the U.S. seems to trigger significantly higher rates. While we paid around €550 per night, other guests seemed to pay closer to €150. You think you’re booking a 4-star experience, but what you actually get is a very average stay at a premium price. Not recommended at all.

A lovely hotel, well situated for many of Rome’s must see sights. Very helpful and friendly staff. Plentiful breakfast with cereals, meats, pastries and a cooked breakfast. Rooftop bar has great views. Be aware it does stop serving drinks from 9pm in winter months. Clean , cool room. Definitely stay here again if we are at that end of the city.
