Seattle’s Best Restaurants That Are Open Late at Night | Eater Seattle

"It’s not immediately clear from the outside what this Upper Fremont spot is all about — with a name like Ha!, it could be a comedy club. Turns out, it’s just a cute neighborhood bar. Inside, it’s cozy and pubby, with a bartop full of regulars watching the game and a menu of American and Mexican classics on offer until 2 a.m. Everything’s pretty solid here, but the crab melt and the slightly charred quesadilla, loaded up with black beans and creme fraiche, are what’s up." - Harry Cheadle

This bar in Fremont is a reliable option with decent food—nothing fancy, and while I wasn’t blown away, it was good enough that I’d return. The staff is friendly, and the location in a pretty neighborhood adds to the charm. There’s a nice window to look out onto the street, and it’s especially convenient if you need food around 2–4 PM, when many restaurants are closed. A solid casual choice if you’re nearby.

Lovely bar that's truly open late. Good selection of beer taps, great staff. Love the vibe in here. The Al Pastor tacos are to kill for. They usually have good local beer selection on tap and they play great music too.

My experience here was not very Ha! :( I am not sure if I did something to upset the bartender but as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a death stare and a very forced "hi?". The bartender, an older Caucasian woman, seemed annoyed that I was there as she was talking to her friends. I tried not to interrupt so I sat at the bar silently until she was ready to take my order. When she came over I asked for a lemon drop cocktail and again I was met with annoyance and an eventual "...sure. you have ID?". I felt bad since I thought they might not have the materials but they did and she continued talking to her friends for the entirety of her making my drink and my stay there. When she made the drink, she handed it to me silently and immediately gave me my bill ($15 for one cocktail). I felt extremely alienated as I just wanted to grab a quick drink before attending an event next door. I don't want to say this was racially motivated but as a brown women, it felt very targeted as I saw her demeanor change when a Black patron walked in and they were given a very short, monotone response compared to a White patron who walked in and was met with a smile and cheery tone.

This has become a brunch routine for my friends and family. At least two-three Sundays a month, we are there to enjoy amazing mimosas, great coffee, and a food menu that is full of knock out dishes! Can't wait to keep coming back!

My favorite dive in Seattle? It's tucked away, has a versatile clientele, and they're always there for you when you need that perfect balance of casual bar and good food.

Google
super cool local neighborhood hangout. food recommendation from the server was awesome..I didn't think I would be able to get authentic Mexican food on the West side lol...glad I was wrong...so good!

Google
A great little neighborhood bar with very good reasonably priced food. A nice mix of salads, sandwiches, pot pies and Mexican food. Friendly and quirky staff and customers. A great casual hangout place.

Google
A wonderful local bar with high-quality food. The drinks are real, and the staff is amazing! Free wifi and great atmosphere

Yelp
Service was awesome. They set us up on game day for a table of 8 in no time! She got our drinks out fast and orders in with ease. I didn't love the Bloody Mary, I'd normally not complain about a strong drink but I stirred that one up for a long time, and it was still so vodka forward. I gave the bev to a friend half way through and still left buzzed! The food was excellent. Just what you want on a lazy Sunday morning. The whole place was really welcoming. Quiet for a sports bar, (and we couldn't get their attention to turn tvs in the back room, but could still hear the game) but good for a small group or brunch bunch.

Yelp
Loved the breakfast menu! It's loud on a Sunday due to football games on the TV and people at the bar, but if that isn't a big deal to you, definitely hit it for Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Was in town to visit and we went here for breakfast and I had the crab scramble with a side of salad. My god it was so good everyone was picking off my plate.

Yelp
Food is incredible! Best bacon I have ever had. Staff is also amazing and you can really feel the community coming together. Lots of laughing and great drinks. Love to look at the artwork and trinkets throughout :)

Yelp
Came here for brunch with some friends as a pivot after the backyard bagels line was way too long for our patience levels. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was great! The service was super friendly, and the food was quite good! It is pretty typical diner food but that isn't a bad thing. In particular, I think their Mexican breakfast foods were really good. I got some chorizo hash thing which was great, and the potatoes were soft and fluffy. I did wish they were hash browns bc those are my go to breakfast potatoes, but these were good enough that I didn't miss the hash browns too much.

Yelp
This spot is so cozy! Great location in upper Fremont. The bartender who also served us food was friendly and food/drinks came out fast. The margaritas are FANTASTIC, both the strawberry and pomegranate were delicious and neither were overly sweet. The chicken tacos were not great, but the rice and beans on the side were seasoned so nicely, I definitely want to try more of their food options in the future.

Yelp
We only came here because it closes so late, but it was a great choice! Ha! is a small bar/restaurant with a very friendly and cozy vibe. I've never been here before, but our bartender/server was very friendly and seemed to be good friends with the people at the bar. This BLT was the best BLT I've ever had. Several pieces of thick cut bacon, a slice of juicy tomato, some lettuce and mayo on lightly toasted bread. The bread was a little thin so it got soggy, but it was really just a hefty sandwich. I added chicken for $5 more so the sandwich came out to $19, which is more than I'd like to pay for a sandwich but still reasonable. The fries were also very good! They were similar to McDonalds fries which are my favorite :) I will certainly be back for a late night bite!

Yelp
Ha was a Nah. The food wasn't worth the price, flavor was missing, and so was the customer service. It's like the staff are children that are making rules up as they go. I tried paying with cash and the girl didn't know if they accepted or not, but she took my money and was gone for 10 mins. She came back and forth from the back of the restaurant to the front and didn't say anything but looked at me and went back to the back again. It was weird. Finally gave me my food since it was to go and I had to ask if my cash was accepted or if I needed to pay with card. She seemed confused and went to get my change only because I had to ask what's up with the money I gave her.

Yelp
I can't judge the drinks because we never got that far. When we entered the bartender was a little uneasy and frantic telling us we had to wait at least 5 minutes to order. It was not busy but we were okay waiting but that general atmosphere and vibe felt chaotic and we felt like they were doing us a favor by not serving us. We ended up not ordering and leaving in the end. it was an odd experience overall

Yelp
Loved every minute of this place. Terrific ambiance. Meaning incredible divey scene which I love. The owner tends bar during the day and the place is named after her laugh. Loved my Big Burrito and the service was fantastic. Can't wait to come back here over and over again Great Mexican style food.

Yelp
Their breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese is the best breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese I've ever had in my long life and I've had a lot of breakfast sandwiches with egg and cheese because I've loved breakfast sandwiches with egg and cheese my whole life and I think you should go to Ha and order their breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese and eat it.

Yelp
The cutest restaurant/bar tucked in to the neighborhood! It's located on a lively street with a bunch of other places to check out. Burrito: it was super filling and great price for what it was! The chicken was so tender and juicy. However, the sauce and other fillings weren't too great. Still the better of the burritos I've had in Seattle till now. Enchiladas: the green sauce was definitely better of the two and the chicken was marinated super well. Perfect amount of food and they gave plenty of sides to spice it up.

Yelp
A bar that had a dog? You can catch me here every weekend :) We received great service and the bartender was so kind. The drinks and shots we got were definitely strong and they fill it to the rim. I'll definitely have to try the food next time. Drinks: 9/10 Service: 10/10

Yelp
Just got done listening to some music bands at the Fremont Abbey which is next door to Ha!. I was so hungry. I found Ha! open and serving food after 10pm!! Yay! I walked inside and was greeted and sat down- this place is so great! Love the ambiance- great radio music in the background. Service was stellar! I ordered fish and chips and oh wow so delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and loved the tarter sauce. Got a margarita and it was delicious! Came at a good time Thursday night - it wasn't that busy. Thank you Ha! for a great dinner and being open late!! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food and they have late night food which is becoming a rare find in Seattle. Drinks are always solid, if they have the sangria ORDER IT. The staff is all friendly, funny and welcoming. Julie is an absolute GEM and at this point it's the main reason I come here! If you sit at the bar there's a good chance you'll make a new friend and have a good laugh.
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted some late night eats and randomly came across this place. It's been a little difficult finding such a place since lots of places close on the earlier side. They have an eclectic menu of comfort and Mexican food. I got the cilantro jalapeño margarita and it was superb, very well done. It was hard to choose what to eat because everything sounded great! But we'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. The environment is welcoming, cozy, and fun. Could easily sit there for hours. The service was excellent, there was only one bartender serving the whole place on a weekday but you couldn't tell that it was just him. Everything was timely and it was a great casual dining experience.

Yelp
Food: 3 Atmosphere & staff: 5 Resulting with a 4 star! We were exploring the area looking for a late night bite. Ha!'s kitchen is open until 1am so we ran in around 11pm. The burger was a burger. Nothing special, a little dry like it had been sitting out. My buddy got the veggie burrito wet and enjoyed it though! Great staff and atmosphere, we will return for sure, but most likely for finger food / apps and drinks!

Yelp
Ha! That's what I said after coming here for the first time and laughing at myself for not coming sooner. Ha is a comfort kind of place for me. It's small digs nestled into a Fremont space that emanates warmth with it's red walls, cushions and pillows in window seats with the glow of neon lights beaming and the co-mingling of dining tables and a small bar usually filled with regulars. They have a nice cocktail list as well as taps and a varied menu from Mexican mainstays to potpies. They offer specials such as Whisky Wednesday and BBQ ribs. I really appreciate they are open later as so many Seattle locations are operating on less available hours. The service is friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Ha, is great and always have been. Easy company from the bar and friendly interactions with the guests. Nice taste and refreshing. I always have a good time here whether I come alone or if I bring a date. The seating is ample and they have a nice quite area as well as up near the bar. Pub food Lactose intolerant friendly reasonable prices $-$$ good drinks
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot with super welcoming staff and solid food. The veggie burrito was amazing (especially with the wet sauce). The bartender / waitress was super sweet and accommodating. She also gave out snowflake supplies for us to make snowflakes to hang up around the bar :)

Yelp
3.5 stars. Cozy little restaurant that keeps going back and back. Since this restaurant seems to be more long and narrow you will be sitting pretty close to your neighbors/other parties. There was a football game on when we went a lots of people crowded around the bar cheering. If you aren't there for a sporting event- on the day of a sporting event- it might be a bit too loud. Because of football and the packed bar our service was a bit slow, but friendly. Quite a decent variety of foods on the menu, but I think the "vegan options" listed as an amenity is a bit miss leading. I went with a vegan friend and it seemed like her only true options were chips and guac or salad. That being said the food was really tasty and a bang for your buck! A decent price for a plate full of food. Nothing fancy but a nice place for a casual dinner.

Yelp
Good breakfast spot in Fremont. Nice craft beer selection, solid breakfast options. Awesome Bloody Mary's!

Yelp
Good place to drink and get some wings but the rest of the food was bad. Do not under any circumstances order the crab cakes or crab melt. Both had either canned crab or bad crab but it was awful. We couldn't eat them bad! The wings were yummt and fish and chips were ok but the tartar sauce was awful, sour and tart. Cute bar with nice folks working the place. Great place to hang and drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Chris, the bartender - is a total bad ass. Stumbled on this place after wild lanterns at Woodlands Park Zoo. We were treated like neighborhood regulars right from the get go. Great food, warm service and a fun and eclectic setting. We'll definitely come back.
google avatar

Bonnie S.

Yelp
Our first time stopping by. The food is delicious! The atmosphere was eclectic. Service was beyond excellent. All three of us would go there again and again.

Yelp
In the before times we first tried this place with some friends and had a lovely brunch; everyone at the table was pleased with what they got and that's always a great first experience. So feel confident about the breakfast or lunch menus - if it looks good on the menu, it likely is when you get it! Since then I've gotten takeout a few times - and have similarly been pleased. The staff's kept it safe, fast, and responsive and the food's always been right. It's exactly what you'd expect from reading the menu and when you have a day where you just really, really need a big tasty meal without fuss, this is the place in upper Fremont :)
google avatar

Yelp
Hey, Ha! Thanks for making room in your busy space for my anxious baby. She feels so welcome in your community and it's been a great source of support during our challenging time. Also, thanks for having affordable prices, vegetarian options, and great drinks! Oh! . . And juniper says thanks for the bacon.

Yelp
I bypassed by here all the time and always saw a good crowd of people here for brunch (pre-covid tim) and finally decided to come in this summer when the indoor dinning was allowed. The atmosphere is rather cozy and friendly, the restaurant follows pretty strict covid guideline which made me feel very safe. The menu was pretty extensive and we had chicken waffle and veggie egg whites omelette. Both dishes came out great, my boy friend was impressed with the chicken waffle and I was really happy with my egg white omelette.

Yelp
The best little neighborhood watering hole. My partner and I frequent Ha more than we'd like to admit. We love the laid back vibe, the strong drinks, and the excellent food. Here's a few favorites: - The Ha! - for all you gin lovers, like me. Muddled lime and herbs and gin. What more could you want? It's also prettyyy strong which is delightful. I could drink these all night long. - Chips & guac: because duh. Comes with pico de gallo. - BLT with chicken: this is my go to order. It's sinfully good and always hits the spot. Their fries are also a 10/10. - Vegetarian burrito: my partner loves this and is mystified at what makes it so good I've also brought friends and family here when they visit and they equally have rave reviews.

Yelp
One of the only places in the area open on new year's day! We went for breakfast and tried Huevos a la Mexicana and buttermilk biscuit and gravy. Huevos a la Mexicana was delicious! Basically scrambled egg with veggies and lovely Mexican spices. Comes with delicious potatoes and corn totillas. I normally don't eat totillas, but these were sooo tasty and light at the same time! Biscuit and gravy was fine. Be sure to add eggs and chorizo. The chorizo is amazing! Fresh with the right mix of spices! The lady was really nice and friendly. They are take out only for the time being. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. Great take out option during covid!

Cathleen H.

Yelp
Went here for late night food last night. The food was delicious!! However the bartender or server was very rude and rushed us to eat, saying she needed our dishes because the kitchen was closing, after only 7 minutes of getting our food!! It was over one hour before the place would even close. Things you should never do in this industry is rush the customer to eat.... We all felt very uncomfortable and left shortly after finishing our meal, 45 minutes before the place closed. Don't bring your family from out of town to this place! Clearly it was not appreciated. Ambiance was okay, it was pretty crowded in such a tiny space the size of my apartment with many loud drunk people. Never going here again. Bad vibes

Jason W.

Yelp
Had lunch there on a recent trip to Seattle and was happy with the experience. Crab melt and Bloody Mary were tasty. It was a little before noon on a weekday but it seemed like there were already plenty of familiar patrons there which was a good sign.
google avatar

Camille W.

Yelp
Comfort food with a small town vibe. Got lunch here which was a happy surprise. Everything from the customers to the service felt very homey. It seems like everything they make is fresh and come in huge portions. Definitely get the dive bar feel to it as well and had great music! Classic rock jams made me feel right at home. My friend and I ordered the crab grilled cheese with fries and salad sides. The Dungeness crab melt was so cheesey, ooey, and gooey. So good. It had a little kick to it - pimento cheese, which is always an added plus with grilled cheese-esque sammies. The truffle fries were missing the truffle taste though, was really looking forward to it. The salad was refreshing and not wilted at all. Ha! is a fun place and is perfect for its comfort food feels
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Grabbed lunch here and it was a great experience. I had one of their chicken pot pies and it came with a nice salad. Their mix of bar/diner food and Mexican food seemed weird at first but I think it's pretty good. The service was great and the bartender was really friendly. Parking in the area is good and I had no trouble during a normal week day. Lots of great options in the area but this is certainly worth coming to.

Dan B.

Yelp
Service was horrible. Went in at about 11:15pm and asked about their hot chocolate. The lady bartending was unbelievable rude and snarky. She responded to my question by rolling her eyes and saying, "Yeah, if you want to be annoying about it." Made me super uncomfortable, so I just left. Such a buzz kill. I was really looking forward to chilling with a hot coco.

John D.

Yelp
Open til 2, kitchen til 1. That's enough of a reason to stop by in a city where bars inexplicably close at 9 pm. It's also a chill place with good food and drinks. House marg is a good place to start. Food always seems fresh to order, hard to go wrong.
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
Met a friend who lives in the neighborhood for lunch. Definitely a small local spot. Parking could be a bit of an issue. First thing I saw was the bar on the right with pretty much everything you need for cocktails and a TV. Felt right at home when the staff invited us in. I can just imagine what the place looks like during a football game. Had the crab melt with truffle fries, which always sound better than they taste. The crab melt was very cheesy with plenty of Dungeness crab stuffed inside. My friend's French toast was huge! Yes, breakfast is good for any time of the day! Definitely will return.

Yelp
Delicious dinner, awesome drinks, great service, best music I've heard in a restaurant so far while in Seattle. If we lived here this would be a regular spot for us.
google avatar

Bridgette G.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, they were able to accommodate seven of us (I called a few days before and were able to set us up with a big area tucked in the back) my sriracha chicken sandwich was delicious. The people I was with didn't think the steak sandwich was bad but not the best either. Mac and cheese, nachos, the pot pie and breakfast food was all a hit though. Bartender was also our server, made yummy drinks and service was great.
google avatar

Yelp
PSA 1: They have chicken and waffles here PSA 2: The chicken and waffles are not great We found this place and came because my husband was craving chicken and waffles and was looking for a place nearby that served it (oddly hard to find online around Phinney Ridge). Ha! is a cute, colorful little place with plenty of brunch options. It was quiet when we came around lunch time on a Saturday. The bar area was oddly packed but the chatty, singing bunch there enhanced the light atmosphere. Obviously, we ordered chicken + waffles, as well as steak + eggs. The breading on the fried chicken was not crispy and was not seasoned well. Fried chicken skin is usually booomb but this one was not. The waffles also tasted like they came from a boxed mix. The entree came with a small portion of sausage gravy which was a nice touch. Overall not a great plate of chicken + waffles but not bad enough to leave a craving unsatisfied! The steak was over cooked (asked for medium rare and got well done) but everything else on the plate was standard and tasty (eggs, toast, potatoes). I had no expectations coming in here and I was not disappointed.

Yelp
One of my first pick-up experiences during the Covid crisis and here's how it went. Perfectly. Sarah Jo was SO nice and easy to work with - I had lots of questions about the menu and she patiently answered all of them, even gave me recommendations when asked. I also had several friends order from there so we could minimize everyone's exposure, and even though some of them called in their orders last-minute, all of the food was hot and ready for me to pick up. I felt very good about their safety protocols, lots of hand sanitzer, gloves, etc. But on to the best part - the food. My family ordered a lot of food so that we'd have some leftover for the next day. Ha! Oh, wait, now I see why they are called Ha! Because the joke is on you if you think you won't eat every morsel. The burgers were great, the fries outrageous, the crab melt has my mouth watering just thinking about it.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for a late meal. Loved the atmosphere and service. The carne asada big meat burrito was fresh, spicy, and extremely flavorful. The portion was generous and worth the price. I'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
I grew up in the south so I love comfort food. Something about the way these carbs are prepared makes you want to lay around in happiness until you digest. The food at Ha! Does a good job at that. The venue is small and cozy with a bar that seats about 12-15 and about 8 or 9 tables. I popped in for brunch right after a grueling workout and was ready to eat. Fortunately, the service is fast and I got my order in within minutes of sitting down. The biscuit and gravy I had was excellent and reminded me of the ones I would eat all the time in the south. I did not attend to their drink menu this time, but looking at their menu, I will definitely pop by in the near future. The supersized mimosas definitely has my interest.
google avatar

Yelp
Burned my leg on their heating vent that is under the window seat. When I told the server she offered me ice but seemed totally unapologetic. No comped drink or attempt to actually cover/guard the burning hot grate. We always had to flag her down for service and she was out smoking the other half of the time. Just unprofessional in my opinion. Tainted the night. I also asked for coffee and she said they didn't have any, what?! I'm pretty sure she just didn't want to make it. Piss poor service, especially to someone who just injured themselves in your establishment.

Varun K.

Yelp
A cozy little place. Nothing too fancy. Didn't enjoy the Mac and cheese. Loved the classic 80s 90s music. Decent service too.

Chris J.

Yelp
What a "find," a local joint with world class food and the friendliest bar tender/ wait staff person. I had Huevos Papas with a serious helping of chorizo and my wife's mac&cheese was goey goodness. Highly recommend

Daniel D.

Yelp
Very nice customer service and solid breakfast/brunch menu items. Hits the spot! Not pretentious.

Yelp
I'm back, this time for late night eats, and I can say: it's awesome here after midnight! Fun local crowd, creative cocktails, better music (gone is the "New Country" misery). Service is friendly and playful, the vibe is relaxed and fun. This joint makes more sense late at night! The food...well...I don't know what's going on back there, but they got good stuff- they just do odd things with it. Figuring I couldn't go wrong (shut up!) I ordered the burger ($11) with cheese and Mama Lil's peppers ($1.50 each). Everything was fine, except the bun was scorched black (burnt sesame seeds are NOT yummy) and the burger was undersized and had been cooked over too hot a grill, resulting in burned edges. That said, the rest of the traditional American meal was perfect: generous tomato slices, crisp onion and lovely bib lettuce, perfect fries. My cocktail, the "Ha!" was muddled cucumber, lime and mint with Hendrix gin, just delicious! If someone can figure out why the kitchen messes up otherwise good, simple food, this would be a five star place. The ambiance is wonderful! The drinks are approachably creative. Friendly, attentive service. Good beer on tap. Just a fun concept in a good place! Hope they fix the food oddities... A hopeful four stars!

Pat V.

Yelp
A comfortable place, has a bit of a dive bar feel in all the right ways. Service was quick and friendly. Food was good with large portions.
