"Housed in a century-old villa, Hà Thành Mansion spans three uniquely designed floors, each radiating artistic charm. The diverse menu, crafted with locally sourced ingredients to guarantee freshness, celebrates Northern Vietnamese cuisine. Standout dishes include the grilled black pork with galangal, notable for its golden crust and hint of ginger. The cocktail bar at the entrance is the perfect spot for a drink before or after your meal." - Michelin Inspector

The best restaurants in Hanoi aren't exclusively the ones where you eat on a tiny plastic chair on the side of the road. Some places serve exceptional food along with an upscale and relaxed atmosphere. Hà Thành is definitely the latter. Their signature Chả Cá sizzles above candle fire and exceeds the lofty expectations set by their Michelin Bib rating. The claypot eggplant tofu was the most creamy and succulent I've ever had. My only regret in Hanoi is that I can't try everything on the extensive menu!

The food is quite delicious and well-prepared, with a balance of flavors that really stands out. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that feels like an old traditional house, which makes dining here very relaxing. The staff are friendly, provide excellent recommendations, and are always willing to assist with anything you need. Overall, it’s a place worth visiting again.

You have to eat at this place. The food is fantastic. The libations are wonderful. And the service is outstanding. The restaurant is in French mansion that was built 125 years ago. It is tastefully decorated. The food is tasty and delicious. This place is a big highlight in our visit in Hanoi.

Hà Thành Mansion Vietnamese Restaurant is a stunningly elegant spot tucked inside a century-old French colonial mansion, right in the heart of Hanoi. The atmosphere is serene and visually captivating—every corner of the restaurant is designed to impress. Whether you’re seated indoors amidst the soft classical interiors or on the upper floor enjoying the peaceful light, it feels like dining in a piece of art. The restaurant operates in two distinct service periods daily and closes after lunch around 2 PM, before reopening again for dinner. It’s worth planning your visit accordingly, especially if you’re keen on experiencing their delightful lunch menu.

Elevated Vietnamese cooking. Quality ingredients and produce. Loved the grilled prawns and shredded duck. But it was the simple silken tofu dessert which took the spotlight.

We had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the building's architecture and overall atmosphere were truly impressive. Initially, we were seated on the second floor and served by a very friendly and attentive waiter. However, due to the noise from the busy dining room, we asked to be moved downstairs, and the staff were very accommodating and helpful about the request, which we appreciated. Once on the first floor, we were served by a different waiter. While I understand some staff try to be friendly and engage in small talk, I felt uncomfortable when the waiter asked if I was Vietnamese and after I responded yes, this waiter commented that I didn’t look Vietnamese and looked more Malaysian instead. It felt unnecessary and somewhat disrespectful, especially when comments about appearance and ethnicity are involved. At the end of our meal, the same waiter addressed my partner by name and asked him to leave a TripAdvisor review. While we were happy to support the restaurant, what made us uncomfortable was how the waiter stood very close and kept looking at my partner’s phone screen as he was writing the review. This felt intrusive and made it hard to be fully honest. While we did leave a 5-star review in the moment, we both felt a bit pressured to do so. The food and setting were fantastic. But the experience would have been much better with a little more sensitivity, especially around personal comments and respecting customers’ privacy.

We had a delightful meal here. Service was attentive and friendly, and staff could all speak very good English. Despite being on the pricier side (which was well worth it), the overall experience was amazing. Unfortunately with some dishes you have to pre-order, and we didn’t do research beforehand, so we didn’t get to try the pork intestine platter that we really wanted to. I still highly recommend coming here for a special occasion.

The place has a beautiful, cozy vibe. The Vietnamese dishes were genuinely tasty , even as someone who eats Vietnamese food all the time, everything felt spot-on. The flavors were rich, balanced, and really true to the cuisine. The staff were super attentive and friendly. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.
