Hà Thành Mansion Vietnamese Restaurant

Ha Thanh is a Michelin Bib Gourmand Vietnamese Restaurant situated south of Hoam Kiem, the Lake adjacent to the Old Quarter. Experience has taught me that it is rare to dine in both a charming ambience AND to have good food. I would always trade the former for the latter, but when you get both, its a unique experience. Ha Thanh is one such experience. The signature dish is the camaralised pork, the beef cubes and the fried spring rolls which is the best I have ever had. The restaurant is in a century old mansion. You can dine in the courtyard, on the first floor or on the other floors. The service staff is very attentive which added to the experience. A Bib Gourmand in Europe would consist of a three course meal under EUR40 per head withiut alcohol. In Vietnam, this can be had easily for under this, perhaps half the price. This deserves to be listed. #hanoi

If you come to Hanoi and don't eat at Ha Thanh Mansion, you are missing out. For real, where else besides Hanoi will you have the opportunity to eat Michelin Starred quality food at a reasonable price. They have an extensive cocktail menu and wide selection of food. Our server made good recommendations with consideration to my husbands shellfish allergy. We ordered the spring rolls, beef with bamboo shoots, and tofu with mushrooms. I ordered a Cosmopolitan with was perfectly prepared and attractively presented. Service was quick and attentive and the staff was fun. There was a traditional music performance in the courtyard playing Vietnamese influenced Christmas music. I would definitely go back. Reservations were easy to make through a link on Google Maps and we received a quick response via email confirming our email.

Nice casual place with good Vietnamese food. Better to come just before lunch to find a table since it’s a Michelin Guide spot. If you have kids, sit outside, much easier. Try the snails and share a few dishes. Relaxed place and good experience.

Nice villa. Staff were courteous. pomelo salad exquisite. Green pepper pork delicious. Galangal pork was a letdown : chewy skin and bones. Jasmin Rice on the house but wish it wasn’t so gummy. Overall not bad. Maybe other dishes would hit better.

The best restaurants in Hanoi aren't exclusively the ones where you eat on a tiny plastic chair on the side of the road. Some places serve exceptional food along with an upscale and relaxed atmosphere. Hà Thành is definitely the latter. Their signature Chả Cá sizzles above candle fire and exceeds the lofty expectations set by their Michelin Bib rating. The claypot eggplant tofu was the most creamy and succulent I've ever had. My only regret in Hanoi is that I can't try everything on the extensive menu!

We are an Italian couple on our honeymoon and wanted to experience top-notch Vietnamese cuisine, so we relied on Hà Thành Mansion restaurant. Everything was excellent: food, experience, atmosphere, cleanliness, service. We are glad to have come here and we recommend it to everyone. A special thank you goes to Michael who, with his sympathy, won us over.

As I sat and ate, I kept thinking how this restaurant could have won any awards when even ordinary street food tastes better. It was also one of the few restaurants where the service was not doing its job. Constantly waiting for someone to come and you can order, ask questions or pay. I note that the restaurant had a minimum of guests and 6 waiters were walking around, but they didn't even ask if the food was okay.

You have to eat at this place. The food is fantastic. The libations are wonderful. And the service is outstanding. The restaurant is in French mansion that was built 125 years ago. It is tastefully decorated. The food is tasty and delicious. This place is a big highlight in our visit in Hanoi.
