Honestly, this is one of my favorite Taco Places in the 626! Why? Because it's convenient, there's a drive-thru and the food, is always good. Habanero is literally a minutes drive from my house, but has been a staple for me ever since high school. I always get the Fish Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos, All meat burritos and Agua de pina. Let me start off by saying that in my opinion, this is one of the BEST fish tacos I've ever had. Not one single ingredient makes it the best, but when it's all pulled together, it has a certain taste that just makes me happy. The fish isn't the crispiest, but I think when you pair it with the very thinly cut cabbage and the sauce, it becomes next level!
The tacos themselves are good, not great. To be honest, the meat can be a bit dry and the salsa that comes with it, I recommend salsa verde. It has more flavor. The salsa rojo has heat, but that's about all it has. The All meat burrito is the same, sometimes the meat can be a little dry, so you need the salsa to wet it a bit.
What I do love is the free chips that they give you. I always crumple some up and throw some in tacos.
The thing that really pulls everything together is the agua de pina. It's one of the best I've ever had! It's more on the refreshing side because it's less sweet, so it actually hydrates you, yet still has that strong refreshing pineapple taste. It's not like those arrowhead flavored waters where it tastes like someone just threw fruit at the bottle and WHA LA! Fruit flavored water.
The breakfast burritos are also very nice, I will sometimes order the chorizo burrito, but I get all my burritos without beans. They use pinto beans and personally I feel like the flavors crash and makes me unnecessarily full.
They have $1.50 Fish tacos on Wednesdays, so if you're craving fish tacos on Wednesdays, habaneros is the place to go!
