The Best Coffee Spots in Philly

"Sustainability and responsible sourcing are the buzz at Greenstreet, a cozy and funky roaster that goes to great lengths to secure the most ethical beans directly from producers. All that work and care translates to some of the best cups Philadelphia has to offer and should be on every coffeehead’s list. Even the shop’s website is thoughtful, offering useful how-tos and tips. There are two locations — one in Washington Square West and one in Point Breeze." - Ernest Owens, Eater Staff

Google
I love this place. Probably the best cappuccino and cortado I have had in Philly, and I have probably ordered >100 in the past year. The staff are always so friendly and warm and definite coffee lovers/hobbyists. They have traditional sizing for their espresso drinks. Good technique in crema and milk foam. Latte art is always refined. And I love when cafe's have dine in mug options rather than the takeaway paper cups. This place checks all my boxes! A good work spot if you're alone and don't need a lot of table space. It's got limited seating inside but some outdoor seats. Shouldn't be hard to grab a spot. That being said, most people just grab and go. I see people bring their dogs too sometimes!

This coffee house is so cute and quaint. It has an industrial aesthetic. The coffee and tea are high quality with wholesome ingredients. The staff was very friendly! The only downside is that the space is kind of cramped, but this is pretty normal in Philly. But the line was outside of the door, which is a testament to how good this place is. Would love to visit this place again next time I'm in town. Pictured is the matcha latte.

While it's not a very big space they make up for it in atmosphere. The large wooden windows, and cute seating both inside and out. The natural light comes in from all sides since its on the corner. While there arent seats for more than two people, its a good spot for working and catxhing up. The coffee itself was pretty good but a little on the sweat side for me.

This is maybe one of my favorite coffee shops anywhere. First of all, the space is just too awesome, exactly what I think of when I think of a coffee shop. Love the open windows, small and simple menu, and the total vibe. Wish I had this close by but live to visit when in Philly! If you’re looking for great coffee in an awesome space, stop here!

Google
Highly recommend! Coffee is excellent, I came back the next 2 mornings I was staying in Philly. They serve the spectacular Kioto brew and open at 6am! PS: I had the cortado and it could not be any smoother

Google
Friendly staff and good quality drinks. Only 3 syrup flavors to choose from. Wish the space was bigger as there not much room to move, similar to feeling like canned sardines. It would be nice if there were more pastry items.

Google
The perfect corner shop in Philadelphia! Staff made you feel like you were an every day customer and the drinks were amazing! I’m still raving over the rosemary latte and I’m thinking about driving from the DMV just to have another cup! If you’re a crazy coffee addict like me, get in there today!

The space is small but it’s very cozy and nice atmosphere to read a book. I had a vanilla flat white and it was very smooth. Good experience at Habitat coffee house!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for coffee in the city. Tiny space, but plenty of outdoor seating perfect for beautiful weather and people watching. Oh, and the coffee and the service is great! On my most recent visit, my barista offered suggestions for making my chai latte even better, and it was delish! Great little place!

Yelp
Cute coffee shop at the corner of S 11th. The shop is really small with 5-6 tables, each can sit max of 2 people. The staffs were really pleasant which is a highlight, I think their coffee are alright, nothing to write home about. A plus is they have decaf :)

Yelp
This place is awesome for a coffee and it's very cozy inside. It has a handful of seats in there but there's outside seating as well. They're usually open early and open till later in the day and the Stafford generally pretty friendly my coffee taste really great all the time and I love my Matcha lattes

Yelp
Fantastic! The mocha is made with a creamy chocolate milk and was absolutely the perfect mixture of sweetness, cocoa, and smooth espresso. I think that was the fastest I've ever drank a coffee. The staff were completely friendly and quick to make our drinks, they even had handmade pastries available. It's a small shop with several small tables, but they were full of people getting work done. It's conveniently located on the corner and very easy to walk to. There is even a restroom available so you can stay and enjoy your drink for a while.

Yelp
So happy I recently found this coffee shop! While I was a huge fan of the prior coffeeshop here (aka Greenstreet), I was really happy with my recent experience here. The barista was helpful and friendly and the vibe of the shop just felt so hygge. The hours were also perfect if you have an early appointment or work in the area.

Yelp
3 stars for the coffee flavor, the aesthetics / indoor furnishings / location. They lose one star due to how cramped this location is. There is barely room to stand and order. If you were to have a seat it is soo cramped inside. Obvi sitting outside gives you a little more space. One of the baristas was not having a really good day when I went and I prob can't blame them but they seemed stressed or flustered unsure. Combined with how busy and cramped it is I would prob just walk a block and get a coffee from a different cafe. Overall nice coffee and indoor decor but poor structure and service.

Yelp
A cute spot, service isn't very welcoming or friendly. No smiles at this place. The lattes were well made, but both left a bit of an after taste in the mouth. Maybe it's the brand of almond and oat milk they used? Not sure.

Yelp
I now look forward to coming here in the morning when I get the chance. I still don't consider myself a coffee person by any means. However, so far, this place has made me the beat vanilla latte. The best part is they make it CONSISTENTLY goof. There are other good cafe's I'm the area, but I feel like some of their barista's aren't consistent. This place hasn't been missed yet. I love their small, cute coffee shop vibe. The only reason they don't have 5 starts is due to their very limited food options. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
DRINKS I came in around 10 am on a Friday and ordered a hot mocha to-go. The latte art was gorgeous, and lids are placed on the side of the bar. I think they use 2% milk for the latte, which is fine, but the coffee itself tasted thinner than I would have liked it. I tried Greenstreet before it became Habitat and thought the same, so I think the coffee here just isn't for me. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly, and orders come out quickly. Stickers of the namesake are also available for purchase priced between $1-2. AMBIANCE There is limited seating available inside the store as the tables are situated cozily beside one another. Some seating is available outside the storefront as well. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.

Yelp
I really like this coffee shop! The coffee is always fresh and each time I get a little design! My only critique is that the baristas take their time making each order and if I'm in a rush during my lunch break it can get a little much.

Yelp
Every time the staff is very friendly , I love this tiny place ... coffee is always delicious ...

Yelp
The marzipan latte is like a toasted almond ice cream bar the heart beat latte was light and earthy. The perfect Sunday morning treat. Don't skip the lemon poppy muffin! Thanks for the sweet smile Sarah you're a gem !

Yelp
Super cute corner coffee spot. Staff was helpful and friendly, but indoor as a well as outdoor seating is limited. Would but a cool spot to get some work done if you can grab a seat for sure

Yelp
Five stars! What a gem. This small place has the most amazing latte and nitro! It's was one of the best lattes I have ever had. Habitat has small tables inside and has outdoor tables to enjoy. The people were very nice. Go check this place out!

Yelp
Yummy and delish simple small corner coffee shop! Chai was good and lots of seating outside Simple delish menu

Yelp
I don't leave reviews often. I stopped by at the end of October while in town for a conference. The Autumn Orange Latte was recommended but the barista. Very fall vibes with hints of orange. I still think about it nearly 6 weeks later, one of the best lattes I've ever had! Shop is a little small but cute and surrounding area is nice too.

Yelp
Good coffee. Nice baristas. Small and intimate coffee shop! We got iced latte, cold brew and cappuccino and they were all good.

Yelp
Happy to make this my 700th review. These folks are awesome. Heard their story today - going from working at the shop to owning it. Great beans story and most of all coffee

Yelp
Such a cute little coffee shop! I ordered an iced chai tea and it was the best one I had during my trip! Stop by, you won't regret it!

Yelp
THE HEART BEET LATTE IS AMAZING so sad that it's seasonal but i am so happy that i tried it after being hesitant from it containing beet but soooo worth it the people are always lovely and welcoming a great spot to stop for a quick drink, snack, study sesh or meeting a fri

Narayanan R.

Yelp
Ordered cafe latte and matcha iced coffee. Both were delicious. Would highly recommend. Much better than Starbucks coffee

Karl B.

Yelp
Service is great, very kind and helpful. The barista offered a couple of different coffees which was great. I had the El Salvador light roast which had a wonderful taste-citric notes, light-medium body, mildly acidic. The location is easy to get to and access but has very limited indoor seating. Outdoor seating is available. In general I would not plan to stay and hang out.

Yelp
Great ambiance, coffee and staff were amazing and friendly. Like was long but the staff did a good job of getting everything read for everyone

Jorge M.

Yelp
Service was incredible! Coffee is amazing. Love this place! It is a small cute little shop!

Taylor G.

Yelp
i often go here before my book club. wonderful coffee and staff. a nice cozy little spot with That Quality Brew!

Briyanna H.

Yelp
Each time I go, I think I'd like it and try to give it another chance but each time the espresso is a bit too acidic for my taste. Their iced latte is much better. The cafe/seating is compact indoors so I would not recommend it for doing computer work in the fall/winter but it's got outdoor seating when it's warm out.

Matthew W.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop in the heart of Philly! The baristas and manager are all super friendly. The coffee is delicate, fruity, not too acidic. I'm not a big coffee guy myself, but their stuff is incredible. They also have great tea options if you're in to that. Occasionally, they offer a seasonal drink. I've studied here, made new friends, caught up with old friends. Can't express enough how great this coffee shop is!!'

Josh B.

Yelp
Excellent local coffee shop! Loved the coffee and and decor. Great staff who really know how to make an excellent latte. I will be back for sure!

Yelp
Habitat, formerly known as Greenstreet, has an incredible vibe and even better coffee. The barista's are super kind and helpful. I work just down the street and try to come down often on my breaks to grab a quick bev and they always greet me by name! The coffee is also roasted by Habitat itself, so delicious! My favorite roast is their Ethiopian and their House Diner!
