Habitat - The Fort Apartments

If you're considering The Fort Apartments based on the promise of "luxury living," I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The branding is slick, but the experience is frustrating from start to finish. the quality of service does not match the price tag.-- not exactly what you'd expect from a so-called luxury property. What's even more disappointing is the lack of accountability when things go wrong. You're paying premium rent for an experience that feels far from premium. The building may look nice in photos, but don't let that fool you -- it's been one frustrating issue after another. Save yourself the stress. There are better places in the area that are actually worth the money and deliver on what they promise.

The Fort is an exceptional community! With modern architecture, natural light-filled apartments, and stunning city views, it’s the perfect blend of comfort and style. Located in the serene and upscale Mission Hills, it's a peaceful retreat with easy access to the best dining, parks, and walking trails in San Diego!

This is not a review of the management company. However for prospective tenants please note that the restaurant downstairs spews smoke into some of the living units. This occurs six days a week from the late afternoon through the evening.

Response to the comment left in October 2021 ---- I don't use Yelp often, but I would like to say that, excluding the comment here on Yelp, no one at the team/building/company ever spoke to me directly. I wanted to live there, but no luck. I don't know how to live there, but if the communication is an indicator, it worries me about how the living/maintenance experience would be. Why is this a common factor (per reading the other reviews)? Does the property management have too many complexes to manage? That's a standard question, not trying to throw actual shade. At this point I am unemployed, and would be happy to help their leasing in becoming better at this type of thing. Jonathan Segal buildings are the most amazing architecture in San Diego! I've lived in two of his building so far, and I wish they were being built north of La Jolla. Del Mar, Encinitas etc. The concrete aesthetic and minimal vibes are the best for focus and business oriented professionals. I wish these were purchasable that's how much I love it.!! Please build more of these.

Garage has been broken for months now... homeless sleep in the garage. This is not acceptable nor safe, garage needs to have a guard on duty at all times until repaired.

Agreeing with the previous comment about it being impossible to contact someone. It took forever to get an appointment for the tour. We were supposed to be contacted the day before the tour with details and no one ever called. And I wasn't able to get ahold of anyone regarding the unit.

here to say i agree with the other 2 reviews... more than a year later and it still seems like they haven't gotten it figured out. my partner and i have tried contacting someone through multiple numbers found online and no luck. online booking system says you can't book online so text the given number. you text the given number and it sends you to the same online booking system that isn't working. plus the number you're texting is automated and not a real person so it doesn't help. even tried contacting the management team and they claim that they don't see an available unit on their end even though it shows on multiple apartment finder websites and even the fort's actual website.

This is not a review of the management company but rather a heads up to prospective tenants. Some of the apartments get significant smoke from the restaurant downstairs. They burn wood in their oven and it permeate through the building.
