This restaurant was exceptional!! The atmosphere is like stepping into Tulum. Live Mariachi band and birthdays being celebrated left and right. I went to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed. My server Eric was amazing! He treated me with a birthday surprise after dinner. If you’re celebrating a birthday or even just wanting a nice date night, this is the spot! Food was okay but portions are kind of small.

My daughter wanted to have a dinner party for her 16th birthday that had "vibes" so we chose Hacienda Calavera and I'm so happy that we did. This place is so gorgeous. Fantastic for pictures. The staff was very nice and the food was good. The numerous birthday celebrations they did for her were really amazing. They even had a live band. I am very thankful to the entire staff for such great service and a birthday my daughter will never forget.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Hacienda Calavera! The food was incredible packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was just as impressive vibrant, welcoming, and full of character. What truly made the night unforgettable was our waitress, Patty. She was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Went to Hacienda Calavera to celebrate my sister’s birthday and we had such a great time! The ambiance was vibrant and festive, just perfect for a celebration. There were several other birthday groups there too, so it’s clearly a go-to spot for special occasions. The drinks were amazing, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Even though it was super busy, the staff really took care of us and made the night feel special. I highly recommend booking online in advance: it’s a popular spot for a reason!

We came to celebrate a Birthday and Patty was our Amazing server! She made sure we had everything we needed and more! Her drink suggestion was on point and food was goooooood! Definitely a VIBE! Music was great. I had to shake it in my seat while eating 😜🥳🥳🥳🥳

I loved the hospitality at this place - Cinthia, Bryan and Victor were so so hospitable and welcoming. We sat at the bar thinking we would just have appetizers and a drink. We were so amused by their craft and how they prep drinks. I had never seen a crown with a magic genie lamp or an airplane with shots. All of the drinks were creative and fun to watch. The food was superb and the atmosphere was so much fun. They celebrated birthdays and people. There’s live mariachis music on Friday’s and Sunday’s. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants.

Love the food. Our waiter Alfonso was the best he was consistent. Gave great food advice celebrated my birthday to the fullest. Presented me with a crown and sash all. I definitely highly recommend if you’re celebrating a birthday to come here the atmosphere is amazing. First time won’t be the last.

Amazing delicious loved the vibes I couldn't put my phone down there was so much to record and so many places to take pictures and videos! The presentation here was amazing. Great vibes as soon as we sat down. They had a presentation for everyone whose birthday it was and brought them to the stage and sang to them and gave them bday shots! Their presentation for the Calavera desert was awesome and nice. It looked amazing in there. For service there were so many workers there and they were all very attentive and helpful. They all looked like they enjoyed working there and were very nice. For food I had a great dinner. Ordered Los 3 Huastecos with the steak being juicy and flavorful, the guacamole was delicious, the jalapeño and bell peppers so tasty, and the octopus was good. I just thought the shrimp for mine wasn't as flavorful. My gf ordered I believe La Noche Triste and her shrimp and the sauce with it was so flavorful and tasty. We also shared the the purse drink which was pretty strong and a lot to drink so it hit the spot. Prices I would say are decently priced.

All I have to say is this spot is A VIBE! The ladies and I had A BLAST; it was perfect for our girls night out! The decor and layout, plus the art - love it! The food and drinks - LOVVVEEEEEE IT! One thing about me- I love to eat with my eyes first and so many of the dishes and drinks have beautiful presentation; I was constantly like "wowwwwww!" This family owned restaurant serves guests authentic Latin American cuisine, while transporting you to a night out in Mexico! I would agree with others about the guac needing more seasoning but I loved its beautiful presentation. We went on a Friday night and the night started off with the DJ, but ended with live music! The band that was performing got the crowd involved, and it was so much fun, especially when the shots went around the floor! The whole atmosphere was lit Girls night out, date night, ANY celebration - you should slide here and tell em Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! Enjoy!

1st review of the year! But I went to this place in Dec of 2024. Anywho, they were a fairly new bookmark that I had and wanted Mexican for a date night night with my friend and we chose this spot. There were several large parties here celebrating birthdays everyone was dressed up and in party mode even for a Thursday night. But we were seated promptly and the servers were all polite and nice. We ordered fajitas steak and chicken dishes, we had drinks/shots. Everything was ok, steak grade of meat used was a B. They're PRICEY!!!! I wasn't wowed so I wouldn't be returning, but I'm glad I tried them out.

Overall I had a great experience dining at this establishment! All of our food was delicious - except the guac was mid. It was quite bland and was missing seasoning, and the chip to guac ratio was also off lol. The ambience however was soo lively! They had mariachi come on around 8:30pm which made the dinner experience unique.

Cockroaches- I came here to celebrate my birthday with a party of 10. Everything was going great until we saw a cockroach- when we told our server under our breath- she responded with "sorry we just fumigated last night" didn't offer us anything and we didn't ask for anything. Later another one came out we told another server and all she did was kill it and went about her night. We emailed management and asked if they would atleast comp my meal as it was my birthday and she offered a complimentary meal but after seeing and hearing what I had I asked again about just comping my meal and she never responded, sent follow ups and she chose to ignore me.

Came here for my mom's birthday definitely will be back soon! The food was amazing gives you nice portion size. Love how they have the mariachi band and celebrate everyone's birthday. Love the decor as well.

My kids brought me here my milestone Birthday. I was in disbelief. The music , the ambiance, the food was absolutely amazing. It was the best birthday ever. A place you must go celebrate

I was on the phone attempting to make a reservation for a party of 7, the lady on the other end asked for my credit card info, in which I was driving so I had to pull over to get my card, when I asked her to give me a minute she quickly hung up the phone on me. I tried calling several times, all of my calls quickly went to voicemail. As I showed up I saw a group of females in the front listening to the phone laughing. They take advantage of the fact that their manager or boss isn't present to fix this issue and laugh in peoples faces over some childish beef they made up in their head. I will be addressing this to who ever is in charge the day of my reservation. I doubt after this encounter I will ever go back, I won't even recommend this place to anyone moving forward. This place is so underrated note only is the place and dishes and drinks aesthetically please but the customer service is also top notch, Lucy greeted us at the door and showed us our tabled. We were served by Erick & Manuel. My par tried a few dishes I loved the steak with the octopus it was soon deliocus! The drinks like the muerte not only looks good but taste good as well. They have a mariachi every Friday & Sunday night and upstairs turns into a nightclub. The dessert was a chocolate covered skull with churrus and fruit around it and icecream which was so good...... there is some street parking and I believe after a certain time they have valet highly recommend checking it out It's perfect for large groups..

Pros: Presentation was fantastic! They really put in a lot of thought into their plating and drink service. I ordered the taco dinner and I have to be honest, it was really good. They come with rice and black beans, and I wish there was more because they come in these really small ramekins that you'd see sauce in, but honestly i finished my plate clean, so it was enough. The others at the table ordered the 3 Huastecos entrée, and that was good as well. it was served on a cutting board, well presented and cooked to order. Ambiance was like a party vibe, loud music, a dancefloor, and several Instagram photo ops. A Barbie box, swings, and this beautiful tree with lights on it. Gorgeous! I felt like I was in a Tulum or Cancun restaurant. The Calavera dessert was actually really good. Churros tasted fresh too! The dish is accompanied by a man in a skull head and two staff members with light up wands like it was a birthday party, so enjoy that! Fun! Cons: We got the guacamole tropical and while it had some mango, avocado, and red onion in it, it didn't have any lime or salt. That lacked in any seasoning. For the prices they charge for the food, as they are making the effort to make this place a higher quality establishment, their silverware was very cheap. Something you would expect at a local taqueria, not a high end restaurant charging $35-$35 and entrée and $18 cocktails. The bathroom was also not included in the remodel of the restaurant. This restaurant has had many faces, but the bathrooms remained intact. I wouldn't even say they were at least clean, because they smelled like sewage. Really kills the appetite if you ask me. The table they sat our group of 5 at first was lovely, but the wood table was too high and it made you feel like a small child when you sat there so we asked to move to another table. The next table they took us to was a booth in the stage area by the big screens was better, but the table was as big as a grand piano and we could barely converse or pass the appetizers without standing up. Our Server Eric was great with us at first when we were sitting at the high table, but after we were moved and we weren't ready to order the first couple times he came around, (mind you the music was loud, not everyone spoke Spanish, and the table was so big not everyone was able to hear his description of the family style cocktail he was recommending), and our declining of the family style drink, his demeanor changed a little bit. Also, there were a few times we had to wait on him to come back around, the restaurant on a Thursday evening around 8pm was not even halfway occupied, and we could see he wasn't busy with other guests. We ended up ordering the Calavera dessert from another server who walked past our table, while Eric was staring off into space at the bar. Long story short, I'd get the food for take out. But it would be a fun place for a birthday party, too.

I went there and the service was bad, the waiter was not attentive, I ordered the meat and asked for it to be medium well and they gave me medium rare red, I did not want to send it back because it took them too long, while I was waiting for the check to pay a new table arrived, it took them 30 minutes to serve them and finally the waitress arrived and said wait a moment and left again, they just laughed

Two starts for the drinks being pretty good and the service was good The food wasn't good not good pairing on the sides with main dishes. The music wasn't Hispanic taste so it didn't give a Hispanic vibe at all. The presentations of the food itself was very nice definitely made up for the taste of burnt rubber. The shrimp cocktail has three shrimps on the rim and one shrimp cut up inside the dish itself. Waste of the money. Good money I could have used at Texas de Brazil a way better way to spend money.

They have good drinks and it's beautiful in there. As far as the food... their meat is a bit skimpy. Too much vegetables and not enough meat.

Place was good looking I can tell what kind of environment they were going for but the service was absolutely terrible would go long periods of times without getting a waiter for no reason, especially when everybody's running around it was 45 minutes after I've gotten my first plate then another 20 minutes before my girl got her plate after they chose her new plate because apparently what she had originally ordered wasn't gonna be ready till God knows when so they brought her some unseasoned shrimp with the sauce it was not so good A bit overpriced drinks were good. Probably won't be going back to this ever.

(Español al fin) We came today for the special pop-up Barbie brunch and we were very happy. Not only was it a club like atmosphere, which we thought was pretty cool on a Sunday afternoon, but everything was decorated so beautifully. They were Barbie dolla and skulls everywhere (my kind of place) They had pink flags and a big banner out in front as well as the classic Barbie doll box inside. We got to try a variety of things from the menu with a buffet style brunch. My friend ordered a drink called La Muerte and the presentation was out of control. He brought it in like a little treasure chest box and opened it up and poured it. My husband and I just ordered Micheladas but everything was really good. We love concept spaces like this where it's visually appealing and the food is good. Very happy with our experience and can't wait to return for future events they mentioned like Mexican Independence Day and Day of the Dead. Venimos para el tema Barbie Brunch. Todo fue super bonito para fotos y nos gustó la comida. Fue muy divertido y ellos dicen que habrá mas eventos asi. Vamos a regresar para estos eventos!

Where do I start? This was such a horrible experience!! Came here to celebrate my cousins birthday and what a terrible celebration it was. Water down drinks. Most of the drinks were not good. We Got guacamole and ceviche as an appetizer. Had to ask for chips for the appetizer several times. Guacamole had no flavor, ceviche was eh. We waited over 2 hours for our food. Tables next to us were served before us and had a bigger party than us. Food FINAfreakinLLY comes and load and behold, it was not good! 4 were cold, 4 were not correct and my fajitas mix had NO FLAVOR!!! They forgot my Shrimp with my fajitas mix which was suppose to be included. How do fajitas have no flavor !???!? On top of no flavor, my shrimp was not cook all the way. Whole time, no one ever came to checked on us as much and we kept asking how much longer. One of the worker, even told me that our corner didn't get the love/service we deserved. What was suppose to be a fun night, definitely wasn't. Leaving a restaurant hungry is not the way you want to celebrate a birthday. Manager finally tried to make things right after 3 1/2 hours smh but the whole night was already ruined. I do not recommend this place it's Not worth the hype!

I was so excited to attend this place however after bein here I was let down. First the host told us the wait was 15-20 min wait which was fine cause we didn't have a reservation. We were happy to wait, we arrived a little before 6:45. We got seated at almost 9pm and because the waitress decided to sit someone that came after us and the party that came after us. Her excuse was "they had a reservation" which was a total lie because she called 2 party's before that, and gave up and asked the party that was sitting how many they were...... that was the first "WTF" moment. When we finally sat down our waiter was very nice just a little distracted.... when the food came out it was the incorrect food. Which they attempted to hand it to the two tables beside us. Which meant they had no idea where it went. We order the empanada for apps Two drinks which both were amazing. We also order the 3 Garcias, which was diven, a little spicy but delicious. On the plus side the music was popping and the food/drinks was amazing. In conclusion they need to work on their customer service. And better hire.

Good food, good service, good drinks, clean environment, good vibe. Up beat before 7pm. Mariachi after 7pm on certain days. I highly recommend. Parking is on the street and on the side.

Amazing place for Birthday celebrations. Staff is very helpful when communicating properly. Our waiter was very polite, friendly and professional with our table. Food was surprisingly well seasoned and cooked to our satisfaction. I would recommend meats, seafood, and the oysters!. I was also surprised and impressed to see different cultures come check the place out and enjoy the ambiance as we did as well. Love the birthday sing with the chocolate skull and ice cream!!!. We were very satisfied with the service and food. Thank you to the staff and manager for being polite and professional.

The overall vibe is very nice! If you like a club feeling this is a great place. It's great for celebrations, not necessarily for grabbing a casual dinner. The service, when present, was very hospitable but it took a long time for anyone to come around to check up on you. Almost like a sense of hesitation from them but would've loved if the servers came by more often to offer any additional refreshments or anything at all. Also, parking was confusing, there is not enough parking for the popularity of this restaurant. Came here for a birthday celebration and they definitely made it a fun experience.

Went to HC to celebrate a birthday...first the place is beautifully decorated! I would suggest only going here for a drink ...it's overpriced & food not worth it! Big prices for small serving. I was disappointed to get my tacos cold ( tortillas ) the steak was seasoned good but not worth the $23! The staff was nice but not very attentive therefore the service was mediocre:-( I'm only giving it two starts because of the decorations...

Similar experience as the ones posted. It was siblings brunch for us, so I wanted to take them to a new spot!! Sadly disappointed!! The service was horrible they sat us in the back corner and completely forgot about us. We finally get the waiter to take our drink and food order... food was semi decent but needed sazón!! I understand it's a new spot and they're trying to make it with limited staff but it was early at noon when we got there and service was slow to respond and no chips and no salt to add for flavor. We came during the day I'm afraid to come in the evening where it might be super busy and we really won't get served. Ambiance is great beautifully decorated.

This place is awesome. Everywhere you look there is something fun and artistic. There's club music playing so you want to dance in your seat. Their specialty drinks are good but small. It is a fun place and great for families. Food is slow to come out.

We came for my cousins birthday. I loved the atmosphere, we went on a Saturday night and they had live music. They also had someone entertaining the crowd and giving birthday shoutouts. The food was great. We were about a party of ten and none of us had any issues.

The service was amazing at Hacienda Calavera, the servers and other staff were very attentive. The ambience was fun and vibrant. I ordered the mango margarita and would like to try other drinks next time! I really liked the blue corn tortillas with my Tampiqueña dinner.

This place was great! Food was amazing. I had the trio with the steak shrimp octopus. The octopus stole the show. It was so tender and perfectly seasoned. I really recommend this place.

Food was 8.5/10 flavorful and also very fresh! Considering how busy they were the food was served no later than 15 minutes. Very fun dessert for celebrations too! Services was 9/10 we were well taken care of from the food service to the manager asking if everything was okay and the food was good or not. The waiters kept coming asking us if we needed anything and also cleaned the table if dishes were done with in between. Ambiance was great! 8/10. The had live music and a dance floor too so couples and families could dance on it. The restaurant is colorful and super vibrant.

I went to Hacienda Calavera to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had an amazing time. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed the guacamole appetizer and the steak dinner and the drinks were on point. The music was amazing and the vibe was perfect. My only feedback was on the service - It was a extremely slow and it was not a packed day however, our server tried very hard to ensure all the tables were taken care of. Not sure why there was a delay but I hope they have addressed that moving forward. Here is some tips Parking - They have a small parking lot so street parking is your best bet. Pricing this is on the higher side for pricing i would caution coming in with large groups. Reservation highly recommended on the weekends

Reservations was at 7:30 PM on a Sunday and it was the weekend so quite understandable that it was busy. PROS: -Food presentation is really well done -The vibe and atmosphere of the place is great and staff knew how to hype the guests -Photoshoot friendly (Have Barbie box, Swings, and decorations around the place to take good pictures with) -Staff were really friendly and apologetic on delay of food -Great music CONS: -Food took FOREVER to arrive. Reservations at 7:30 PM, but food did not arrive until 10 PM and not all of the group received their orders at same time -Mostly everyone in the restaurant was waiting for their food and looking concerned about when their meal is going to arrive -Food is overpriced -Staff was compensating for the delay of food by giving free drinks and shots instead of free appetizers. Maybe some guac and chips could've helped -Parking is very limited

This place is aesthetically pleasing. The ambience was great. The mariachi was great! Now let's talk about food: It was more presentation than flavor. Rice was bland, beans tasted like they came from a can. What was supposed to be guacamole, it was more like avocado spread. The tampiqueña was delicious but it wasn't cooked to order. I asked for medium well and it was bloody. The pollo en mole was very bland. My Llorona drink was not delicious. Now let's talk about service: The waiter wasn't very pleasant. He took our order and never came back. He didn't check up on us. It took almost 30 minutes to get our check where I had to get up to go and ask for it at the register where there were up to 4 people back there. The waiter was busy but that's no excuse to not check in with his customers. There were other employees that could have helped us but none of them did. Overall, this place is very nice with the music and the ambience but I would never come back here again unfortunately. Very disappointed!

Place is delish and beautiful! Saturday afternoon and music is bumping! Service was exceptional and with such elegance, thank you Gonzalo! Loved it! Octopus tacos are 10/10 and so are the empanadas! I highly recommend the "La Muerte" and "El Deseo" for a memorable experience! Have your phones and pallets ready, and prepare to be pampered. Again, mil gracias Gonzalo!!!! Will def be back!

What an amazing experience! Came for a girls night on my birthday weekend with my bestie! The food was amazing! the ambiance was perfection but the service was out of this world! everyone was so attentive but i got extra luckily with Eric as our server! he really went the extra mile to make it a special night! Thank you!

This was my first visit to this restaurant that has been on my list for a while. The décor and the ambiance are great and perfect for picture taking. The food was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced. While our Cantarito drinks were nice to look at, there was very little alcohol in them. The service was average and we waited quite a while to get our check after requesting it several times. They automatically added 18% gratuity for our party of 4 and then an additional fee of 3.9% for a credit card payment. One visit to this place is more than enough and I don't think I'll ever go back.

Food is over priced and limited selection for such a place that promotes a great experience (taste was okay), drinks to me were the worst I've ever had! Crowed and hot. Go there if you want to hear noise and spend your money unwisely. Staff seemed nice.

I made a reservation for 10pm and got seated at 1055. I insisted we leave at around 1030 after being told twice that it would be 10 mins. It was frustrating to see the hostess all just not do there jobs in updating the system so it would give accurate turn around times & to see the hostess taking selfies while she has 20+ people waiting to be seated. The food was 2/10 i honestly expected way better than sour mashed potatoes & steak just full of fat. The asparagus was hard and smelly (not fresh). I can genuinely see why people like it the music was the best part of the whole night but everything else is just not for me.

This was a great experience for sure. I can definitely say it is more of a birthday celebration spot, it seems to be what they're known for. I enjoyed the food, although it did seem extremely basic. Every single steak plate comes with the same thing; a scoop of mashed potatoes, a few sprigs of asparagus, and one portabella mushroom cut into slices. There isn't much variety, the menu is small, items are limited. The drinks were great, I had a tequila sunrise and la bruja. The shrimp is okay, the steak was cooked perfectly! It is a bit pricy, but you're really paying for the atmosphere, the ambiance, the aesthetic, or at least in my opinion it seems that way. With 6 plates and 2 appetizers, and about 8 drinks, our bill was a little over $450. Definitely not an every weekend type thing, but this was a fun experience. I probably would not come again simply because I do feel like I'm paying more for the aesthetic of the place than the actual food, which is totally fine.. but it seems more like a place for people who are out with big parties or content creators lol.. But, our waitress was amazing! Ana took our drink orders almost instantly and was very patient and kind to our big table. She brought out food out quickly, was constantly checking in, and was very helpful with the menu. Thank you Ana!

Bartender Cynthia was the best. Drinks were amazing she was always on point. We ordered food and she made sure everything was to perfection. Highly recommend it.

We came here for a birthday and had a great time! Our group had the tropical guacamole, two different shrimp dishes, grilled octopus, steak fajitas, and the seafood pasta. Everything was delicious and well-seasoned. The calavera and bruja drinks were really tasty; the gavilán was just okay. We came on a Wednesday and there was a mariachi playing and it was a fun time. It does get a little loud so this is more of a fun place to get drinks and have a good time than to come and have a conversation. Our server Esther was really nice and attentive, as was the rest of the staff. Definitely recommend Hacienda Calavera to celebrate a special occasion or have a fun time with friends!
