Hot San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, October 2025 | Eater San Diego

"La Mesa — A Sonoran-style Mexican restaurant opened in the former Por Favor space, which closed after 50 years in La Mesa, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune . Hacienda Cazadores offers regional dishes, such as enchiladas Sonorenses with chicken tinga, spiny lobster in a mojo de ajo, and parrillada Sonora for two, which includes generous portions of beef rib, Spanish chorizo, chicken, and grilled cactus. Other dishes include a broad selection of dry-aged steaks as well as fajita-style chicken or adobo-marinated spicy pork. For a bit of showmanship, chefs arrive tableside to grind tomatoes, chiles, and spices in a volcanic stone mortar for fresh salsas molcajetes." - Helen I. Hwang

This historic bank building that previously housed Por Favor Mexican restaurant has been remodeled beautifully with a menu featuring Sonoran inspired Mexican fare. My parents and I went to try out their happy hour... They have an extensive happy hour food menu. You know how you usually get a few apps on a small card, this was a whole page menu with so many options, there's something for every taste and price range. The updated interior still retains the charm of the original building, and has been opened up so it feels very spacious. Sitting in the bar lounge allows you a terrific view of the beautiful restaurant as well as people watching in the village. Service was excellent, attentive, friendly and welcoming. We tried several things on the menu, the highlights were the Brussel sprouts (amazing lime smoked guajillo aioli and were perfectly crispy), the chicken tinga flautas (crispy outside but OMG, perfectly moist and flavorful tinga inside), and the al Pastor Taco (perfectly moist also). The only disappointment for me was the octopus, the flavor was amazing but the texture was just a bit chewy... It's so hard to cook octopus and it may have been the piece we were served, which was thicker in part than usual. The only cocktail we had was the passion fruit honey margarita, it was a bit over engineered and sweet for my taste, id have liked to see an inexpensive classic margarita served up or something. Minor quibbles really, we'll definitely be back for more in the future!

We loved our experience at Hacienda Cazadores in La Mesa! The restaurant is new, beautifully decorated, and has such a warm, welcoming vibe. Both visits (on busy Sunday evenings) were great—our server Ivan took fantastic care of us and made excellent recommendations. Everything came out fast, fresh, and full of flavor. The Queso Fundido, Aguachile de Callo de Hacha, and Parrillada Sonora were delicious. The Charred Caesar and Baked Potato stuffed with rib eye, bacon, and mushrooms were incredible too. Portions are generous and desserts like the panna cotta and chocoflan were the perfect finish. Great food, great service, and a beautiful atmosphere—we’ll definitely be back for the steaks next time!

New Favorite Alert: Hacienda Cazadores! 🇲🇽 Had the most fantastic early dinner tonight after visiting the La Mesa farmers market. Decided to check out Hacienda Cazadores, and wow, what a find! This place just opened, and they are already killing it. The food is genuinely delicious and authentic traditional Mexican. More than that, the service was great, and the drinks were perfect. Seriously, the margarita had a beautiful presentation and tasted even better. If you're looking for an amazing, authentic meal, you have to go. Highly recommend! #HaciendaCazadores #MexicanFood #LaMesa #SanDiegoEats #AuthenticMexican #NewRestaurant #Foodie #Margarita

I’m visiting from San Francisco and decided to try Hacienda Cazadores today for the first time and I’m so glad I did. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is authentic and full of flavor, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. A special mention goes to Miguel, the manager, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It’s rare to see that level of care and professionalism, and it truly elevated the experience. You can tell this restaurant takes pride in both its food and hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming back on my next visit. Highly recommend Hacienda Cazadores to anyone looking for great food and genuine service!

I came across this new restaurant. I regret not taking pictures of my plate. I had the spinach salad, it was AMAZING it had bacon, avocado, red onion and wrapped in cucumber. The honey mustard dressing sealed the deal for me. I will definitely be back. The chips are accompanied by a variety of salsa's AMAZING!! My drink was a mix of coconut, lime and strawberries, it was refreahing and made to perfection. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. Oh the frijoles charro were outstanding. I highly recommend this new addition to La Mesa, Sonia

Google
Gorgeous restaurant and equally delicious food. We had the callo agua Chile that was amazing, hubs had the molcajeté, and I had the seafood enchiladas. All were fabulous. The drinks were good too. We're definitely coming back!

Everything was amazing! They put so much detail into this building. Everything we ordered was so flavorful and prepared perfectly. Our waitress was beyond attentive and so kind throughout the whole night. We will definitely be back

It tastes like family gatherings with the people you love. Waking up at your tía’s house, the one who cooks incredibly well, full of flavor and sazon or at Grandma’s house, where the whole family gets together and cooks homemade meals all day. There’s always a big plate waiting for you at the table. That’s what Hacienda Cazadores reminded me of. It brought back memories of weekend family gatherings, where everyone enjoyed each other’s company, had a great time, and shared amazing food. It’s the perfect place to make memories with your loved ones, offering stunning and authentic Mexican cuisine. There’s no need to drive to Old Town and leave disappointed unless all you’re looking for is an okay tortilla. If you’re searching for authentic Mexican gastronomy, Hacienda Cazadores is the place to be. We made reservations to celebrate a close friend’s birthday, and Alberto took excellent care of our party of seven. The table was filled with dishes, incredible aromas, and delicious food. Have your cameras ready ! You’ll want to record and share the experience. Portions are large, well seasoned, and generous... Don’t even get me started on the meat cuts ! We had the dry aged Tomahawk and the Parrillada Sonora we left with full bellies, big smiles, and happy hearts.

Yelp
The ambience was nice but unfortunately, my whole group thought the food was not that great. It isn't cheap there so it should definitely taste better than it does. Sadly, I'm not sure we will go back anytime soon.

Yelp
The food was perfect from appetizers to entrees to deserts and the service was spectacular! This place seems like it would be great for a private date and is definitely great for family gathering.

Yelp
Came in for dinner the other day. Food was amazing and Andres was an amazing server. Loved every minute of it

Yelp
Wow! Immediately obvious that this new spot is going for quality - every item was good. Grilled chicken was a wow. Very quality ingredients and exceptional presentation. Chips and salsa very nice. Our waiter - Ivan - was exceptional, very nice guy. My only advice is that they could lower the house lights by 10-20%. it's a bit too bright - similar to the restaurant Limoncello, down the street. Both great restaurants but they need to dim the lights a little bit.

Yelp
The food was okay, nothing amazing. The service was okay, but our waiter seemed irritated by every request. We had to ask for chips and salsa, which is fine when it's trying to pretend to be a fancy Mexican food place. The queso fundido is SWIMMING in grease, it was not good. The pulpo appetizer was tough to cut through. Entrees were okay, nothing spectacular. The price for the food is ridiculous. On top of that they added a "large group" 20% surcharge for 5 people. Then added a $25 cake fee which we have never been charged even at nice steakhouse places, annnnnnd a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. I am fine with paying for fine dining but this was definitely not fine dining. I would try Javier's or Red Circle instead.

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing! Came in for a date night and wasn't disappointed. From the friendly and playful service to the amazing food, I highly recommend! We shared the Cachete de res en su jugo as an appetizer. It was flavorful and the meat was very tender. A great start to our meal. I had the Enchiladas de Mariscos and my partner had the Chile Relleno, both dishes were impeccable. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
We attended the official grand opening on 11/2/2025, which was quite a delight. We managed to get a table on the patio and were able to be up close to the entertainment. They performed all evening! Food: Nopales, Alambre al pastor, enchiladas sonorenses, and flan. The alambre was delicious and came with the most delicious side of beans that I've ever tasted! According to my husband, he wasn't too fond of the enchilada, but the alambre plate was plenty enough for both of us. Dessert: we went with the flan, which was so cute! It came with a sun shaped piece of toffee (I think?), which is a little difficult for me to eat because of the stickiness, but the flan and cake itself was amazingly delicious.

Yelp
Yummy food! Would recommend. The servers were nice, but felt like they had a lot of tables as it took a long time to get to us. The restaurant is lovely. It's beautifully decorated.

Yelp
Great experience at this newly opened spot! They just started brunch service on Sat-Sun and the chorizo sopes "Benedict" was amazing! I also got an Al pastor taco and the meat was perfectly grilled and the taco was stacked with guac and pineapple on a homemade tortilla. Great flavor and value. The patio is large and the inside interior well decorated. I will be back to try their dinner as their grilled Sonoran meats looked amazing.

Yelp
Not worth the hype. Beautiful space and friendly staff, but the food, drinks, and value didn't deliver. La Mesa Hacienda Cazadores - Honest Review The restaurant is beautiful, with friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Watching the women in back make fresh tortillas through the glass window is a great touch. The patio is also lovely and relaxing. No chips and salsa were offered, which was surprising. We ordered the Queso Fundido with shrimp and the Enchilada de Mariscos, which came with rice and four small sides of salsa. The salsa was mild and not very flavorful, and there wasn't an option for anything spicier. I know Sonoran food isn't usually hot, but I like a little more kick. We also ordered a spicy El Pastor taco but it wasn't spicy at all and it also didn't come with any salsa. My drink, the jalapeño one with the umbrella, looked fun, but was mostly alcohol and ice, with no spice or flavor. My husband ordered a beer, but they had none on tap, and brought a can instead, not even a bottle. The bill was over $100. For the price and the hype, it just didn't live up to expectations. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, but the food and drinks we're not exceptional. We probably won't be back.

Yelp
Our dinner reservation also coincided with La Mesa's Octoberfest on a Saturday night and the streets were PACKED, like your typical Farmer's Market but with 10X the normal pedestrian traffic. We were told Hacienda Cazadores (HC) had recently garnered some very good reviews since its inception. Upon arrival, we were told was being prepared for us. We were thrilled our table was inside dining room versus out on the patio. Ivan was our server and he was awesome! If you ever visit and Ivan's working, you'll be treated great throughout your stay. My wife & I shared their Empanada de Tinga for an appetizer (we found it tasty) as for our entree, we ordered their Alhambre Cowboy fajitas platter. While the portions weren't as much as we'd like, it tasted good! Their beans & rice sides were also less than the beans & rice serving which our friends received. The blue corn tortillas were tasty. Our drinks consisted of sparkling water and a bottle of Sangiovese wine. We ordered three servings of chips, salsa, & guacamole. The others ordered their Enchiladas Sonorenses, and 2 Tomahawk Ribeye steaks! All food was finished with exception for 1 of the Tomahawk steaks. The dining room was a lot busier than usual due to Octoberfest, but Ivan made sure our table had received everything we needed. HUGE props to him and all his busers who helped him serve and clear our table when needed. While the food, atmosphere, and service were amazing; the really big negative we experienced was their lack of adequate restrooms (only TWO, one upstairs & one downstairs) for a restaurant/bar this nice and for as large a restaurant it is, that is unbelievable. Worse than that, the uncleanliness of their restroom was beyond bad! Honestly, had my wife needed to use the restroom in the filthy, unkempt, and unsanitary condition it was in, we definitely wouldn't return, no matter how awesome everything else was. To not send staff to clean their overused restroom regularly to ensure patrons have a clean restroom to use is completely unacceptable! This was the only downside to our entire experience. I sure HC addresses this concern by the time anyone reads this review of mine.

Yelp
Hacienda Cazadores has recently opened their doors in the heart of La Mesa. They are located in the departed Por Favor location. This new old world Mexican Style Hacienda offers a beautiful Sonoran style ambiance and cuisine. The menu speaks volumes as to the direction of the multitude of flavors and the engaging presentations of the food offering. It's not just the great flavors and textures, but the experience as well. To start my meal, I had a Mexican traditional shareable item called queso fundido with sauteed mushrooms and Beef chorizo. First of all, Hacienda Cazadores does it correctly. They use queso Chihuahua which offers a great melting buttery rich quality, that is baked in a cast iron vessel, with Anaheim peppers. You can add mushrooms, beef chorizo, or shrimp to the mix. I had it with mushrooms and the chorizo which went very well together. The queso fundido was fantastic. I have not had it made correctly this way for a while now, so I was very happy and excited to partake in it. The baked melted cheese was gooey and offered a great pull, and the beef chorizo and mushrooms were great. It was great eating with the house made corn tortillas. You can also ask for flour tortillas. If you love cheese, this item is a must. Next, I had the salmon ceviche. It was delicious indeed, and came with a side of crispy tortilla chips. The ceviche came with the chopped serrano peppers, mango, cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions which all played well together. The lime citrus dressing was delicious and the sliced avocado on top was smart. I can't wait to try the other ceviches on the menu. For my entree, I had the Enchiladas Sonorense with chicken tinga in a red sauce. Now, these are not your ordinary enchiladas because they do not come rolled, but stacked as they do in Sonora, Mexico. The corn tortillas in the stack were house made, lightly fried, layered with tender well seasoned chicken tinga, and drenched with a mild guajillo sauce that offered a little heat in a very good way. I loved the queso fresco, the crema, and the pickled onions on the enchiladas. The enchiladas were a great experience to dine on. I not only enjoyed my meal, but I was also very fond of the experience that "Elena" my server provided. She was attentive, amiable, and very helpful regarding the question I had regarding ingredients and such. She was an example of how important, great service can make an eating experience, that much better. Not to mention how it reflects abundantly positively in a restaurant. Hacienda Cazadores is a great addition to the city of La Mesa.

Yelp
We were so excited to give this place a try. Read through the reviews and went in with an open mind. Note that we just went for Happy Hour so this isn't representative of the dinner menu. Ambiance is good, nice decor inside, spacious bar. We sat outside since there was no bar seating available. Excellent service, very attentive server and staff. The hostess seemed miserable and not friendly. The bathroom (downstairs), as others mentioned, was disgusting. One shared bathroom, which I don't mind, but the cleanliness of a shared toilet is a complete turnoff with trash on the ground. Happy Hour margaritas, what can one expect. Diluted, no flavor, I thought I had ordered a specialty one but they brought the happy hour one according to my bill. Old limes as well :/ Definitely would get a beer or wine for HH instead. Guacamole and chips- great guac, nice salsas. We asked for more chips and they told us we had to order another basket so we did, and it was now 2x the guacamole order, which we didn't eat the second one. Queso Fundido- with chorizo. Extremely greasy (I know it typically is but this was over the top). Lacking flavor, terrible tortillas. Flautas De Pollo- this was the best thing we ate. Nicely fried with good flavor chicken. Crema and lettuce on top. Crudo De Jurel- disgusting, fishy, bloodlines were still in the pieces we had. It wasn't cold. We didn't even finish it. Side of fries with serranos. The dish came out with cheese and jalapenos. We told our server and he discussed with the kitchen. We were looking forward to serranos which never showed up. Overall disappointed, might come back for dinner after a few months of them working out the details.

Yelp
Heard a lot of great things about this place, so my husband and I decided to check it out. We started off with the sashimi tricolor and tostadas de atun -- both were incredibly fresh and flavorful. For dinner, we had the tomahawk steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare, paired with a papa rellena. The food was fantastic, but the service was even better! We got to meet the managers and the owner -- everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has so much history and charm. We sat in the lounge area, but every part of the space is beautiful. Highly recommend -- we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Once again, food was top notch today. Stopped in for brunch on the beautiful patio and did not leave disappointed. I had an al pastor taco and a side of charro beans. The charro beans were not on the brunch menu, but asked if they had them available and they did! I had these on a previous visit and was enamored with them. So...damn...good. Do not sleep on these beans. They are spicy, flavorful and delicious. The portion was also generous. My husband had the Wagyu arrachera with grilled nopal and onion, which he devoured. Our meals were excellent as were the Cadillac margarita and Bloody Maria. Service was exceptional. We will keep coming back.

Yelp
Make a reservation! We heard people getting told the wait was over an hour . Drinks were good , we had chicken flautas to start and they were pleasantly surprising with a burst of flavor when you bite into them ! Would definitely order again . Also I got a ribeye taco ... good lord this was the best taco I have ever had ! The flavor and seasonings were on point and the side of bone marrow was a bonus !! I would recommend trying this place out !

Yelp
A group of old friends met there and it was all of our first time to this new restaurant. We love the happy hour food and drinks. The tuna tostada was sooooo fresh and amazing flavor. Carne Asada taco was so tender and delicious. Everyone said their drinks were refreshing, I can guarantee there wasn't premade mixes here, it was made from scratch, fresh squeezed.

Yelp
Stopped by Hacienda Cazadores for dinner and loved it! The place was packed (they just opened last week!), but the service was awesome. We started with chips and salsa to start, and they come with 4 different sauces, all pretty good and not too spicy which I liked. I had the shrimp chile relleno with chipotle sauce and it was super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The tortillas tasted homemade, which is always a plus! My fiancé ordered the cachete de res en su jugo that came on a bed of mashed potatoes, portion was small as it was meant as an appetizer but it was amazing. For dessert, we tried the panna cotta de coco. It came in a chocolate shell that looked like a coconut with a lemon syrup inside. So delicious! I will definitely order this again next time I go! Yasmin, our waitress, was super sweet and attentive. Food came out fast, drinks were good, and the whole vibe was fun and welcoming. She was amazing! We'll definitely be back to try their steak next time! Great new spot in La Mesa. We will be back fo

Yelp
Everything and everyone was wonderful... until we found a rubber band in our food. When the manager came over to talk to us, he accused us of putting it there. We are foodies who frequent many restaurants, and we were so excited to find a new one close by. This was just so insulting, humiliating, and embarrassing! Ruined our date night completely with such poor management.

Yelp
Hacienda Cazadores is a new gem in La Mesa that instantly became one of our favorites! We first heard about it from friends who live nearby and decided to check it out--now we've been two Sundays in a row! The area itself is super cute, with twinkling lights adorning the street and a cozy, festive vibe. Both times we visited, the restaurant was busy but everything came out fresh and fast. We were lucky enough to have Ivan as our waiter both nights--he's absolutely wonderful! Attentive, vibrant personality, and his recommendations were all spot on. The entire staff makes you feel like you're dining at a family gathering--warm, welcoming, and professional. The décor is beautiful--colorful Mexican art, cowboy hats, and a Dia de los Muertos altar add so much charm. The ambience is enhanced by great music (Luis Miguel fans will appreciate it!). Now, the food--everything we've tried has been incredible: Appetizers: Queso Fundido with chorizo - rich, flavorful cheese and perfectly made tortillas (especially the thick blue corn ones--my favorite!). Panceta de Cerdo Taquitos - crispy, hearty, and super satisfying. Frijoles Charros - authentic, with a touch of spice. Aguachile de Callo de Hacha - ultra fresh with a salsa negra that's perfectly spicy and flavorful. Entrées: Parrillada Sonora - listed as for two, but it's a generous portion! The beef rib was fall-off-the-bone tender and the arrachera was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Charred Caesar Salad - divine! No need for added protein; it's flavorful on its own. The croutons were some of the best I've ever had, and the anchovy flavor was balanced beautifully. Baked Potato - massive and stuffed with rib eye, bacon, and mushrooms. A full meal in itself! Dessert: We tried both the panna cotta and chocoflan--each one delicious and not overly sweet. Portions are large, prices are fair, and the flavors are outstanding. We've enjoyed every dish so far and can't wait to come back to try their prime steak selection next time. Highly recommend giving this place a try--you'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit!

Yelp
What a fabulous new addition to La Mesa Village! From the moment you walk into Hacienda Cazadores, you're struck by the beautiful ambiance and stylish décor, warm, inviting, and perfect for a night out. Our server, Lilliana, was fantastic and full of great recommendations. We started with two of their signature cocktails (so good!) and later paired a glass of wine with our meal. We also tried a couple of their appetizers and sides, and everything was absolutely delicious. The true standout, though, was the Arrachera de Wagyu steak--perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with incredible flavor. Definitely a must-try! La Mesa Village has been waiting for a restaurant like this, and Hacienda Cazadores delivers on every level...food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back soon!

Yelp
I was anxious to check out La Mesa's newest upscale restaurant by Alba Restaurant Group. They have done a beautiful job of updating the old Por Favor restaurant, and transforming it into something that looks beautiful, and fits nicely into the downtown area. Overall, the experience was good, but not without some concerns. The menu is a very broad, detailed, selection of Northern Sonoran cuisine. The menu is printed in a very small, light font, and it's not easy to read, particularly outside with limited lighting. My guest and I shared the PULPO SARANDEADO charred octopus, which was delicious, then she opted for the COSTILLAS DE RES AL CARBON (grilled short ribs) and I had the ENCHILADAS DE MARISCOS (seafood filled enchiladas). The entrees were flavorful and amply sized, but came out to the table at different times, and the enchiladas and sides were cold. The short rib portion was huge - but so was the "market price" - $90!! WAY over-priced, even for the large (3-rib) portion. It is served on a searing platter with one charred jalapeno, one charred baby onion, and a piece of cactus. Rice & beans were served on the side, as well. If the serving was half the size, and half the cost, it would still be over-paying for short ribs. The service was spotty, though friendly. Very undisciplined or poorly trained & managed - appetizer before drinks, entrees at different times, cocktails one at a time. Because it is very loud inside (be ready for that) we asked to sit outside. However note: there are surprisingly no heaters!?! So plan with the weather in mind! It is a nice place, and I want them to succeed, but it does not offer the dining experience one would expect for their price level. Dinner for two: one appetizer, two entrees, four drinks, no sides, no dessert was $225 not including tip. And oh yeah, be ready to be pissed off when you read there is an ADDITIONAL 3% added if you opt to use a credit card!Thankfully I had a debit card too!

Yelp
Wanted to love this place. We will try again once they dial things in. We went on a Thurs night, they were busy and overwhelmed. We ordered Sopes, Rib Eye Taco, and Scallop Ceviche. Rib Eye Taco was the best 8.5/10 Scallop Ceviche was over dressed 7/10 Shrimp Sopes 3/10 - do not order. Shrimp was dry. Our dinner plates came before our App, which wasn't the end of the world, but made for an awkward flow. Service was 5/10. We ended up trying to make conversation with the waitress but it fell flat. Lots of time sitting unattended to. Again, they were busy. I'll give them a pass. This place has a ton of potential and we want to see them be successful. We love what they are attempting to do. But right now there are too many wrinkles to put this in the regular rotation. But I have faith they will deliver.

Yelp
I give it a 3 stars this a nice place good service good food we had the guacamole with chicharron that was awesome enchiladas de mariscos and the arrachera perfectly cooked just a bit salty i give it 3 stars one because its a little pricey i would think think think twice to visit this place more like for special occasions 17 dollars a cocktail beer on tap not working beer bottle not cold. another thing that you guys need to be aware if you paying with credit card there is a 3% surcharge i feel like servers should let customers know about that surcharge I would come back but not regurlarly because of the prices. I hope this was helpful

Yelp
So I'm gonna give grace to this restaurant because it has a lot of potential. The decor, the ambience and the vibe are phenomenal. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the details and it is a pleasant place to have dinner. The menu has unique offerings that you rarely find in Mexican food locally since Sonoran cuisine is unique. Our server was kind. Their appetizers were quite tasty as well. All of the above said, unfortunately I can't say our entrées were great. My husband ordered the Pollo a las Brasas and they claim it was supposed to be deeply marinated, but it tastes like it was marinated for 10 min. It had a plain bland chicken flavor on the inside that comes from quick/lazy cooking in kitchen. I got the seafood enchiladas and they left a few shrimp tails on the shrimp inside. My rice was cold and bland. The drinks were pricey for being so small. Lastly, something that bothered me is they only offer beans with a heavy pork grind in them. Seems like a severe limitation that the restaurant only offers beans with pork in it. Plenty of people don't eat pork out there. Anyway, like I said, I'm gonna give them grace and give them a rating of a 4 even though I really wanted to give them a 3. I did this because the first few weeks of an operation there's a lot of experimentation going on in the restaurant business. I just hope they yield the feedback they receive on Yelp.

Yelp
Great service but food is underwhelming. Salsas lack any sense of spice...so Sonoran for sure. The queso fundito was excellent, however no chips and salsa to start the meal...the seafood enchiladas virtually flavorless. But service was awesome. Bathroom situation is absurd for a bar...seriously no men's room? I get a joint bano but next to a bar? Wow...no thanks. Also, you served me an $8 beer in a can? No thanks.

Yelp
Four paws up, amigos! From the moment my humans opened the polished wooden door of Hacienda Cazadores, the scents hit my nose -- roasted pork, smoky poblanos, and something tangy (maybe lime?) floating in the air. I knew we'd arrived somewhere special. I gave the maître d' my best "good boy" eyes. It worked. We got a patio table with a soft breeze and my own water bowl. Classy move. The humans ordered tuna sashimi alongside a grilled Caesar salad. Next step, was the Mega burger, it was bigger than my human's face... Although they did not share that with me, I was lucky to get a perfectly salted french fry!, And let me say it did not disappoint! I wagged like a blender From my view under the table, I noticed the staff gliding around like synchronized dancers. Everyone smiled and smelled of fresh cilantro and confidence. My humans ordered reposado, old-fashioned, which made them laugh and drop more crumbs. A strategy I'll use again. Pricey? They said it was "fair". Worth it? My tail's still wagging. Final rating: * Ambiance: 10/10 (excellent patio shade placement) * Smells: 15/10 (intoxicating) * Staff friendliness: 12/10 (belly rub-level) * Leftovers potential: High * Chance I return? Only if they drive fast Sincerely Levy (rhymes with chevy)

Yelp
I loved the place, the food was incredible, the atmosphere was amazing, the drinks were great... honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this beautiful restaurant, and the service was outstanding. The waitress, Irene, was super cheerful and friendly, making our experience excellent. She made us feel like family. We will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Wonderful date night out! We loved the ambiance, the service and food were amazing. We were lucky enough to meet Alberto one of the managers and you can tell he takes pride in the restaurant. We had a fabulous time, each item came out with good flavor, unique to its own, and delicious. Highly recommend this place and the Mexican wine was so good!

Yelp
Pretty good all around. Food: High Priced (not overpriced) and tasty - the Caesar salad was pretty much the only item that was gross Service: decent service. They were absolutely slammed, so I will give them some credit. They did pretty good. They were very attentive at the beginning, and then basically seemed like they forgot about us towards the end. Ambiance: great remodel, way too loud.

Yelp
Went in tonight to try out this new spot! Super nice inside! Big upgrade from what was there before. Yasmine was our server and did a great job! I got the arrecheras tacos and they did not disappoint! Will be coming back!

Yelp
First things first, the remodel of this space from the former Por Favor establishment is 100% on point. They took advantage of the historic architecture and elevated the street side appeal by tenfold. You cannot not notice this place and want to take a seat. The food flavors here are good, like REALLY good. And the menu offering is pretty expansive, when you consider the complexity of how things are prepared. For some people that have a certain expectation on what Mexican cuisine is they'll find it different - but in a good way. Our service experience was great - crowded Friday night and Ivan took really good care of us. He knows the cuisine well, looks you in the eye and provides great service from the time you sit down from the time you leave.

Yelp
Just had dinner for date night. Somewhat crowded-getting a reservation helped with not having to wait for a table. As not having been to Por Favor while it was open, we were not sure of what the inside looked like. So as a first timer, the inside was beautiful and very western Mexico, the food was delicious. Service was good for being a busy night. For appetizers we had the simple chips and salsa and an empanada. The chips came with four different salsas. The empanada was tasty and full of cheesy chicken. We ordered cocktails-hibiscus drink and the basic margarita. As for entrees, we ordered the 20 ounce ribeye and the 10 ounce skirt steak. Both very flavorful and cooked to our request. The only thing I preferred to not have on the steaks were the extra Himalayan salt sprinkled on both steaks. We asked for the dessert menu but none of the options didn't "tickle our fancy".

Yelp
Food was alright could use some more flavor, I had the chicken flautas, the corn, and a side of rice and beans, my bf had the al pastor fajitas and the frijolles charges. He said they were good but nothing special. I had the la tradicional and that was good. Service was good. Ambiance is nice. What was really wack though was the large party fee we split the check 4 ways and it was a group of 6 of us and it was $14 per person for a "large group" which we thought was ridiculous and we originally asked for one check to avoid this and they brought it separate when it was time to pay. Overall it's okay for a date but if you want authentic Mexican food go elsewhere.

Yelp
We both had a few mixed drinks, an appetizer, a main entre, and dessert. Every part was very delicious. The service was very good. We spoke to the people next us and they had different food and drinks. They also really enjoyed their food. We can't wait to return.

Yelp
This place is a must! My wife and I came to check it out since they just opened we are quite impressed. The food, the drinks, and the service is amazing! I know we are in trouble because we will keep on coming back! Don't hesitate and try it out

Yelp
The drinks were great, the customer service was amazing. The food was not worth what we paid for. I had the enchiladas sonorenses and they came out cold. It was just a tortilla laid out flat with chicken on top and another tortilla on top. With a bunch of sauce. Nothing to do with what I grew up with. The place looks nice but the food was not worth almost $300. Definitely won't be going back.

Yelp
Our server was awesome. She was extremely nice. The Canelita and the Mezcalita were both fantastic. The Canelita tasted like an Old Fashion and an Espresso Martini had a holiday child. The Mezcalita was very refreshing. We both got the fajitas style Alambres and it was delicious. The house made corn tortillas were fantastic. We tried all three salsas on the menu. They were very flavorful. If I was to nitpick I wish they had a spicier option amongst the trio but otherwise everything was delicious and the portions were plentiful.

Yelp
The oysters were amazing, super fresh. The shrimp/seafood enchilada was good as well. We came for my mom's birthday and Ivan went above and beyond and helped us make her feel special on her day! Would recommend

Yelp
This place is THE place to go for authentic Sonoran Mexican food! The place is absolutely beautiful, the staff is extremely friendly and treat you like family! The food is phenomenal as well! Our waiter Cesar was the best waiter I've had in a very very long time! His knowledge on the food is was what made our decision! Everything he recommended we bought and it was an experience! I couldn't have asked for the food to be any better. Absolutely delicious! If you get a chance ask for Cesar, he will recommend you the right dishes! I will be going back and we will always recommend this place for a great dinner out! Thank you Hacienda Cazadores!

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed sitting and eating at the bar. The manager and staff were attentive and chatty. Our meals were absolutely delicious- I chose the ribeye, which was perfection and my wife had the chicken, which was incredible! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Service was quick and the ambiance was great. However, what's disappointing was I ordered the Rib-Eye Bone Marrow taco and was later told that the bone marrow was sold out after they served me the taco. I asked my server about it and he told me they just added more rib-eye meat instead of the marrow. The server tried to make it up by giving us champagne, but we already had drinks. Overall, service was great, food was good but I don't know if I'll come back.

Yelp
I Had dinner here tonight and it was phenomenal! We ordered the Aguachile Divorciado and the Pulpo Sarandeado both were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Our waiter, Ivan, was amazing! He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us the best recommendations. You can tell he really enjoys what he does and cares about his guests. Everything was a 10/10 from start to finish. La Mesa really needed a spot like this! I didn't even take pictures because I was too busy enjoying every bite Definitely coming back soon! Thank you Ivan for such a great experience!

Yelp
Not a big Yelper but our first experience here was great, our server Andres was great. Very attentive and answered all our questions, my girlfriend has celiac and was able to enjoy a meal without getting sick. His manager Alberto was able to confirm that it was safe to eat without worries, will definitely make another reservation because their menu is huge. Next time I'll post a picture, this time I was hungry. Thanks Andres and Alberto!
