BEWARE!!!!!! This restaurant says it has a dog friendly patio, but they do not follow appropriate laws and guidelines that make it safe for your dog and people to dine there.
I had an incident where I brought my dog with me to their dog friendly patio which resulted in my dog being attacked by a "Service Dog" (think not really a service dog, but someone slapping a service dog vest on their dog). The restaurant staff did nothing and did not respond to make sure others' safety was prioritized.
On the evening in question, which occured on the evening of Saturday 7/15/23, I was entering the patio with my family (me, my husband, and 8 yo daughter) and my dog who was on a leash and had the leash in my hand. We were meeting friends there who were already seated by the patio entrance at one the of bar top tables (think tall). I was rounding the table to help my child in her seat and say hello to my daughter's friend while still holding my dog in my hand on his leash. Before I could say hello to my daughter's friend, another dog that I did not see at first, came out from underneath the table next to ours and began sniffing my dog. The dog had a "service dog" vest on. Once the dog began sniffing my dog, I paused so I could observe what was going on, and after a couple of sniffs, the "service dog" began attacking my dog who is a sweet, and docile Golden Retreiver. I moved away quickly to to try to get my dog away from this other dog, but he just kept coming after my dog (this dog looked like he was some sort of collie). The owner of the service dog was not paying attention until her dog attacked my dog and did nothing to pull her dog off of my dog. My husband had to help me get my dog free.
Once her dog attacked my dog, I did not say anything to this woman with the dog, but immediately she began yelling at me saying that I should never approach a service dog and accused me of bringing my dog over to play with her dog. I quickly told her that a REAL Service Dog would never have been aggressive and would never have attacked another dog and that I didn't even see her dog in the first place because he was under the table. To which she responded "I don't give an F" and when I asked her not to curse in front of my daugher she repeated "I don't give an F". I told her to apologize for her dog's behavior and she kept yelling at me. The restaurant staff did nothing at that time.
I asked the waiter to speak with the manager about the safety concerns, and they said there was no manager on site. So nothing was done. According to ADA laws, a restaurant has a right to ask if a service dog is trained to do a certain task to aid in a person's disability, and what that task is to determine the veracity of the dog being an actual service dog. But if the dog is being aggressive and creating safety issues for patrons they need to ask that owner to place the dog outside of the restaurant or ask the dog and the owner to leave. The staff did nothing!!! Also, the dog snapped at my friend's legs when leaving the restaurant and the staff still did nothing!! This was awful and a major safety issue; and a possible liability for the restaurant. Real service dogs do not initiate interaction with other dogs or people when working in public and only focus on interactions with their owner, unless they need to get help from another person in cases of emergency. Clearly this was not the case in this situation.
Also, after the incident, there was nothing done to compensate me or my family for the incident, and I saw the wait staff be chummy with the woman who verbally attacked me and whose dog attacked mine. That definitely added insult to injury. They clearly do not care about their customers equally.
Not only was the matter not addressed, but their service was not great. The waiter over stacked our table with food and one point the waiter handed me a plate with food to hold, because there was no room on the table. Also, I had to ask the waiter to refill our water glassess three times before we got one refill of our water. The food is also of average quality. I would not recommend going there. You also may be putting your safety at risk if you dine there because they allow aggressive dogs and aggressive people to dine there without them doing a thing about it. I will never come back to this place and I will also be telling all of my friends in the neighborhood not to go there either .
