"A Valentine’s Day gift from actor Richard Burton to (final) wife Susan Hunt, Hacienda San Angel retains the romance of that gesture. American Janice Chatterton bought Casa Bursus (Bur for Burton, Sus for Susan) from Hunt in 1977, adding two adjacent properties before deciding to turn her vacation home into a 12-suite hotel. More hostess than hotelier, Chatterton personally welcomed guests to this hideaway perched above Banderas Bay. She has since passed, but her daughter and grandchildren are committed to protecting her legacy in the form of Hacienda San Angel. Three pools, a rooftop fine dining restaurant, and a nightly cocktail hour round out this property—a delightful surprise for those weaned on The Love Boat’s portrayal of this town at its tackiest."

"Puerto Vallarta was, at one time, among the most glamorous of Mexican destinations — and though it fell victim to overdevelopment, it’s never completely lost its magic. These days there’s a bit of a resurgence at hand, with a few absolute gems among the big hotels. One of the better examples is the Hacienda San Angel, which offers a measure of privacy and exclusivity that might be without equal anywhere in town." - Mark Fedeli

We came here for dinner and were immediately met with an unwelcoming attitude from Norma. She seated us by the kitchen, and when we politely asked for a different table, she refused. We understand that the restaurant was full, but a simple smile or a bit of kindness would have made all the difference. Given the price point, we expected a better experience, at the very least, good hospitality. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression, and we won’t be returning. Instead, we went across the street to La Capella, where the ambiance was much better, the food was excellent, and the staff was genuinely welcoming!

We just got back from a lovely week in Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at Hacienda San Angel. It is a beautiful, charming hotel. The rooms are gorgeous. The food is amazing - the continental breakfast, food by the pool and at the hotel restaurant. We tried it all: ) The staff was so, so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel. We could not have been more pleased. Thank you!

Exceptional Sunday brunch experience with prime rib. The restaurant is set in a quaint charming hacienda that used to be owned by Richard Burton. A good selection of high quality ingredients including prime ribs, smoked salmon, shrimp, cold cuts and cheese. They also have an egg station where a chef will make eggs and omelette to your liking. Brunch deal includes mimosa, coffee but you pay extra for Bloody Mary bar. The staff and service were top notch. Friendly, attentive and personable like the rest of Vallarta. They also have a live violinist that can play anything you request. The atmosphere was very quaint, more cozy and charming compared to La Capella which is just across the road. I love the grandeur of La Capella and the interior and the view is unbeatable but Hacienda San Angel feels more intimate and less of a tourist destination. If you love your prime ribs then I definitely recommend the Sunday brunch here. A real treat in a beautiful intimate setting.

The staff was incredibly attentive during our three-night, four-day stay, making us feel welcomed and cared for the entire time. Staying in a spacious, unique room with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean was such a refreshing change from the typical hotel experience. The highlight of our visit was definitely the food. Every meal was a 10/10, thanks to the talented, world-class chefs. One of my favorites was the Chilean sea bass with mashed potatoes and baby carrots—it was absolutely delicious. For breakfast, I had red chilaquiles with fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. And the red snapper fish tacos for lunch were simply the best I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to return and recommend this beautiful boutique luxury hotel to our friends and family. Thank you again for everything!

The entire staff at Hacienda San Angel was incredibly attentive throughout our stay, ensuring everything was perfect.||It was very pleasant to stay in a spacious, unique room that offered a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean—definitely not your typical cookie-cutter hotel room.||But the highlight of our visit was, without a doubt, the food. The menu is incredible, and the world-class chefs delivered meal after meal that was simply exceptional. Every dish I tried was a 10/10. The Chilean sea bass with mashed potatoes and baby carrots was so amazing, I ordered it two nights in a row! For breakfast, I savored the red chilaquiles, accompanied by fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. And the red snapper fish tacos for lunch? Simply the best I’ve ever had.||I can't wait to return!

This is my favorite restaurant in Puerto Vallarta! Over the years I have had my birthday dinner there, but last night I went for Christmas dinner for the first time and it was incredible as usual! From the greeting at the front door, to the service (our waiter, Marco, was beyond perfect!) and quality of food to the Mariachis…..a new tradition has begun! Thank you, Paula Castaneda for never disappointing!

Went here for dinner with my wife on the final night of our honeymoon and had an excellent experience. The views were spectacular and the food delicious. This place is more expensive than many restaurants in PV but well worth it in my opinion. Cannot recommend this place enough whether you want to go out for a romantic outing, a birthday, or even just to treat yourself to a nice meal. Debit/credit cards were also accepted which is nice given how many restaurants in the area seemed to be cash only. I would also like to give a special shout out to our server Raul. He was very friendly and went out of his way to make our experience special from taking a photo for my wife and me, having the mariachi band play a special song for us, and bringing out a dessert to commemorate the occasion. Can't thank him enough and was shocked to learn he was relatively new to their team given how excellent of a job he did. I would have assumed he has been there for years with how polished the experience was. All said 5/5 and whether you're local and have never been, or travelers like us you should add this to your list.

This restaurant is off the charts GREAT! We have Sunday brunch here every time we are in Vallarta. The attentive service, food, view and ambiance is so welcome. Very relaxing. We love it here. ||The buffet is outstanding. So many selections to choose from and you can have seconds! I love the prime rib. My husband loves the prawns. The dessert table is so great, we have a hard time choosing. They have a cook station where you can choose your own ingredients for omelettes etc and they cook it right there. So fresh! ||Walking through the entrance feels like oldtime Vallarta. Manicured green grass, water fountains, statues, wishing well, tiled stairs up to their open-aired restaurant, vivid colors of flowers, trees and bushes, white tablecloths and napkins on the tables. The cloth napkins are embroidered with HSA. The professional violinist 🎻 is outstanding! ||HSA is attentive to every detail to make your meal very enjoyable. Thank you for all you do! We will be back ☺️!

Yelp
For a true fine dining experience in Puerto Vallarta, Hacienda San Angel is the place to be. The service is unbelievable. The wait staff is so well trained. The food is excellent each and every time I go there. They also have several vegan and vegetarian options. The view is outstanding. I can't say enough good things about Hacienda San Angel!

Yelp
We came here for an anniversary meal on our trip. We heard great things about the restaurant and honestly loved it. While you definitely will pay US prices here, the view and service is absolutely amazing. We came at 6pm for the sunset and watching the sun go down was absolutely beautiful. We ordered 2 cocktails and they were delicious. My martini wasn't too strong but that's ok. My husbands drink was better and whisky based. For appetizers, we shared the coconut cream soup (this was soooooo good. The shrimp wonton crisp in the middle was AMAZING) and the beet and goat cheese salad. Everything was super fresh. We also got the scallops and they were cooked so perfectly. Great sauces too. For mains, we got the steak and the short rib. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. The short rib fell off the bone. The mariachi band came while we were eating our entrees and they were great. We wish they stayed longer! We were too full for dessert but the staff brought over a flan for our anniversary. Honestly a beautiful dinner with really good food. You won't be disappointed here.

Yelp
This was a true treat to once again dine at Hacienda San Angel. We were here with our dear friends. You can't even imagine from the street that paradise awaits you on the other side of these grand wood doors. This is a Mexican house that offers hotel rooms and an out of this world dining experience including a superb mariachi band where everyone participates in the singing. The service and food are exquisite and the view of Puerto Vallarta is incomparable. Put this on your list as a highlight of your stay! Btw, a brand new elevator was available and railings for steps were accessible.

Kim S.

Yelp
I brought the man here for his birthday and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is located within their hotel and the grounds are beautiful. The view of above Puerto Vallarta was gorgeous. Our meal was wonderful with the main course being incredibly prepared rack of lamb. I don't care for lamb, but this was delicious. The best part was the birthday dessert and the mariachi. They sang both Las Mañanitas and Happy Birthday to him, which made him so feliz!

Patricia P.

Yelp
Really great value and it's definitely a nice restaurant so youll be paying US sit-down prices but for US very nice sit-down value. The live band was incredibly talented and I loved their voices. The wait staff was excellent and were very accommodating for our double birthday event for our party of 7. They gave us complementary birthday flans which were delicious and came with fresh fruit. I ordered the shrimp and the watermelon that came with it was so delicious and flavorful!! I was impressed I could taste the watermelon flavor despite the savory seasoning around the rest of my dish. Great flavor. Such a fun and incredible romantic and gorgeous venue for a group! I highly recommend here and Cafe des Artistes while in PV. Also loved the fresh and complementary bread at the beginning, we got a few refills haha.

Brandi K.

Yelp
This is such a lovely restaurant! The grounds are lush, romantic, and inviting. If you'd like to explore a bit prior to being seated, they will allow this, and I highly encourage as there isn't much like it in Puerto Vallarta. Our table was thankfully near fans to help keep us cool on this unseasonably warm evening, completed with a lovely view of the city and bay. The service is spectacular from start to finish. We selected a Restaurant Week option - tropical salad and fried avocado to start, both selected the huachinango fish fillet and finished with the textured chocolate dessert. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked and well presented. A wonderful restaurant for a special occasion as it is a bit pricey.

Dean S.

Yelp
Amazing service here. The manager stopped at every table to introduce himself. Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre and for some of us, less than that. Management and servers apologized for the fishy sea bass and removed it from the bill, but for the price, it should have been near perfect.

Yelp
My second trip to Hacienda San Angel was just as fantastic as the first. Everything exceeded our expectations. Ambience, service, food and drinks, five strong stars across the board. On the outside, it is an unadorned building along a tiny plain street. Pull a rope to ring the doorbell, the speakeasy opens and the person asks questions. Answer correctly and just like in The Wizard of Oz, the huge double doors swing open and you are granted entrance into another world. Although not the Emerald City, Richard & Susan Burton's renovated hacienda is step-back-in-time Old Colonial Mexico enchanting. Indoor-outdoor, you're greeted with huge oak furnishings, religious icons, water fountains, steps and gardens. It looks even more evocative and romantic at night with hundreds of tea light candles. The open air restaurant view is one of the best in Puerto Vallarta, and sunset and night remind me of Monaco. Many customers are decked out in the finest clothes they've packed. We started with cocktails, and I loved the Jalapeño Margarita. Smooth and spicy! Friends liked their picks as well, including an awesome Hacienda 75 Martini. Lion's Paw Scallops came with green tomato sauce, heirloom tomato sauce, purple cauliflower purée and topped with lumpfish caviar. They melted in my mouth and were gone in a flash. I'd also recommend the Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes. A rich and delicious appetizer! My Shrimp & Coconut Cream Soup was just as tasty as the first time. Last time I thoroughly enjoyed the Cabrería bone-in filet steak entrée. This time the Rack of Lamb was even better. Succulent, flavorful and grilled medium rare, it tasted like heaven. A friend had my alternate choice, and the Chilean Sea Bass was moist and perfectly cooked. Four of us shared a few desserts while listening to the mariachi band. The Chocolate Soufflé is simply not to be passed up. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but worth every peso for the ambiance, view and gastronomic experience!

Megan H.

Yelp
Views were amazing from the table and our server was a 10/10 today. We were the only two in for breakfast this am and it was the most tranquil and amazing experience. Food was also amazing. The taco trio had tons of flavour. Service and food were impeccable. My friend got the chilaquiles and those were amazing as well. Definitely a must try.

Rebekah C.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! Not only is the food decadent and delicious, but the service is top-notch. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yenderson S.

Yelp
Lovely hotel with a great restaurant, a bit fancy but perfect for special occasions or when you just want to have a nice dinner. The service was excellent, friendly, and on top of it. They had a group of what I believe are Venezuelan singers that gave a great mood to the night. The food was awesome; we all had an appetizer and a main dish, which was very worth it! There was a little problem with one of the desserts, they poured alcohol on it to make a flame, but if it left an ethanol taste, we didn't finish it! Overall, great place, would go back!

Melanie W.

Yelp
Went to this gem of a restaurant on US Mothers Day. Beautiful atmosphere, great service, excellent food and drinks. All this plus a Marachi band. I highly recommend.

Doliver A.

Yelp
Amazing view, amazing service, and magnificent food! Definitely enjoy the food around sunset, reservations highly encouraged.

Robbie R.

Yelp
The perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner! Don't be deceived by the average looking door that you walk up to upon arrival. Once it opens up, you'll find a beautiful walkway and garden that leads up to a beautiful view and dining room. Elegant tables and decor await you. The view consists of hills of beautiful green trees and a backdrop of the ocean. The staff are friendly and ready to assist you with any questions or requests. Amazing selection of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. From the first bite of your Caesar salad, to the melt in your mouth entree, you will enjoy every bite. The desserts are also packed with flavors that can be either delicate or sweet. This restaurant is a must if you're looking for high class meal while visiting Puerto Vallarta. I hope I get to come back again.

Yelp
After a very steep and sometimes frightening drive up a cobblestone road, there lies San Angel behind large nondescript wooden doors. When you walk in you will find one of the most unbelievable locations to have dinner in the beautiful Vallarta. The location is also a botique hotel, with a beautiful interior worth exploring before or after your meal. A moral formal location, expect to pay a rate for a nice sit down meal. Be sure to grab your photo at their beautiful stone staircase lit up by candles in the evening that leads up to the residences. Once you area seated, enjoy the view overlooking downtown Vallarta. They often have great mariachi band playing that really sends it over the top (nearly 15-20 members!). The food is all excellent. You really can't go wrong at a place like this. One of my favorite stops in PV I insist on going back to every year!

Russell P.

Yelp
Planning a special evening? This must be a consideration! Perfect for a date night or entertaining visiting friends. Parking is challenging so consider a taxi or Uber. Allow time to capture memorable photos with your cell phone. At the unassuming street door, pull the rope to ring the wall bell. You will be greeted by a lovely hostess who will welcome you & escort you through a unique & awe inspiring lobby to your reserved table. Sit back & take in the view! Prepare to be pampered by your waiter. Service is what you would expect from an upscale restaurant: 5 star. All food is artfully presented. Dressy casual is encouraged.

Martin L.

Yelp
Extremely slow service. Food was mediocre at best. Also, the mariachi music blasted my ear drums. Although the music was good, they were playing across each group which resulted in lots of loud noise. By Vallarta standards, the prices are well in excess of being reasonable. Not worth the hassle of driving downtown and paying exorbitant prices for less than good food. Too many excellent restaurants in Vallarta to go back here.

S C.

Yelp
The staff was great. I can't thank them enough for a great dinner and service. This place will always be my 1st when I come back to town.

Kevin N.

Yelp
I love this place. It's a boutique hotel and a beautiful restaurant with an awesome view of Puerto Vallarta. I'd like to visit again with a special someone,it's a very romantic place.

Tony V.

Yelp
This is a review of the rooftop restaurant only. Ambience, view and service was top notch. Food was decent for the price but not very memorable. Unfortunately it seems we were overcharged on the bottled waters. $7.50 USD a bottle is extremely overpriced, even by New York or Paris standards. For a table of eight adults and four children, we each got two glasses of water. They rang us up for ten bottles. Up to you if you think the view and service is worth the price of admission. If you want bang for your buck, look elsewhere.

Rose P.

Yelp
Upscale, beautiful surrounding for a lovely dinner. The restaurant had entertainment as well which was quite enjoyable. We tried several menu items, all good.

Tracy L.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at Hacienda San Angel and would like to give special thanks to their manager, Emilio! The view and food were incredible but the special care from Emilio is what would bring us back! He certainly understands how to take care of his customers. We had a great table, excellent service and enjoyed the mariachi band. Emilio checked in on us and provided some suggestions on the menu and wine. He was personable and made our dining experience. We look forward to a return trip to see him and dine at Hacienda San Angel.

k Z.

Yelp
I have been their many times and it is quite lovely. Can't wait to go there again. Food and service is perfect.

Megha M.

Yelp
I so wanted to really love this place, but I left underwhelmed. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights this past week in the Angels view suite. The grounds are gorgeous and the food was some of the best we had in PV, but the list of pros pretty much ends there. I have mixed reviews about the housekeeping and concierge. We'd have to follow up/remind the concierge staff multiple times to get little things done, which was kind of annoying. We also didn't find them to be very helpful at any point. As for housekeeping, we had some issues with our room. The furniture and decor is all very antique and I think to some extent has a smell... there were two couches in our room that had giant stains on them and smelled like urine. We asked the concierge if they can clean it or remove it, and they said they'd take a look at it. When we returned to our room after having informed them, it smelled like someone had just sprayed an entire gallon of febreeze into the room. It masked the problem, but didn't solve anything. We had to go back the next day and just ask them to remove the couches. They were kind enough to replace them with chairs, but the smell was still there! Maybe it was the carpets? I'm not sure, but it wasn't pleasant... We also had an issue with the shower - there was barely any water trickling out of the shower head. We had to follow up twice and finally 2 days later, they just replaced the shower head with a new one. In general, housekeeping also didn't really tend to our rooms the way I'd have expected at such a nice hotel. Our robes weren't cleaned and refreshed consistently, and they didn't always refill the water pitcher and remove used towels. Some of the plus sides however, are that all 3 pools are amazing. My favorite was the one on the lower level by the lobby - it's so beautiful! Food was amazing and all the chefs and waiters were incredible. The views from the hotel are spectacular, and from the Angels view suite you get incredible views of Banderas Bay. The location is great because it's easy to get down to the main parts of the city within 5-10 min walking. There's also a lot of cute shops and markets on the surrounding blocks and the neighborhood feels safe to walk around. Overall, I don't think the hotel was worth the money we spent. For over $400/night I didn't feel like I was staying at a luxury hotel and I was disappointed in the status of our room. Maybe we just got unlucky, but personally, I won't be back

William P.

Yelp
One of my favorites in the neighborhood. The staff are all really kind and polite, and the food is quality. It's great for people watching on the sidewalk as well.

Oliver D.

Yelp
This is such a romantic restaurant! The rooftop view of the skyline and sunset is just beautiful. The Mariachi Band is a nice addition and makes for a great dinner experience. The service was friendly and great. The food was outstanding and overall one of the best restaurants in town. I would suggest to order the lobster which is the highest priced item on the menu but we'll worth it in my opinion. For desserts the Pavlova is to die for.

Todd C.

Yelp
We had New Years Eve dinner there. The property is gorgeous. Once we got the food, it was really amazing. However, we were seated 45 mins before bread even arrived. The set menu with wine pairings at $400 took 4 1/2 hrs to complete. I found out the mixed drinks while waiting 45 mins were not included at $400. Several tables departed as soon as possible and skipped the dessert due to the long wait Very Poorly executed night.

Garrett N.

Yelp
Been here several times for the delicious and beautifully presented food, excellent service and stunning 200 degree views. This time did not fail me again as the walk up is magical in its own right - ring the bell at the entrance (it's a hotel too) and await the door opening to be whisked away to a new destination that's chock full of perfect photo moments in every direction - and that's not even at the level where the city views are. Once you arrive up a flight of stairs to the actual restaurant, be prepared to start making memories. All the food is great but do stick around for the desserts too bc if you like fine flavors, dive in. One of my favorites is the Apple Flambé. Be sure to request a table at the edge if they have availability otherwise you could be tucked deeper inside the indoor/outdoor dining room with obstructed views and where you'll see more of the other dining parties rather than the city views. The roaming and performing band is top notch and so talented. I think it's the best mariachi band iver ever seen which says a lot since I'm from LA. Enjoy it as yet another ideal experience in PV.

K. B.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. The lively and welcoming music was just the right atmosphere, the food and drink were top notch and really delicious. The staff was attentive. The linens were freshly starched. Even the weather was perfect.

Gabie L.

Yelp
The brunch was delicious!! Made-to-order omelet and a grand variety of brunch choices, along with a dessert bar. Great views , beautiful restaurant and amazing staff & violinist. Such a chill vibe.

Dylan M.

Yelp
A charming 20 suite inn with a wonderful restaurant open to the public with beautiful views and 5star service. The food was excellent and the setting was magical. The late Richard Burton purchased the Hacienda's main villa as a Valentine's Day gift for his wife, Susan in 1977, after falling in love with Puerto Vallarta as he filmed John Huston's The Night of the Iguana there in the mid 1960's. The cult classic film put Puerto Vallarta on the map as a favorite vacation spot for the international glitterati, including Burton's ex, Elizabeth Taylor, who owned a house mere blocks away from Susan's. Perched on the hillside above the famed Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church, the villa, aptly named Casa Bur-Sus, embodied coastal charm and Mexican architectural tradition. If you are looker for an uber high-end place to stay while in PV or a romantic special meal this is the place to be.

James M.

Yelp
This is probably the nicest restaurant we know of in Puerto Vallarta. The setting is in a beautiful old world building, rooftop location and amazing views, elegant seating and service. The food is just fantastic and served with a very professional staff. They have live music every night. The mariachi band currently is twice a week. Check the website for current. If newbies join us, they are always very impressed.

Christopher C.

Yelp
Loved this charming hotel. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Very beautiful rooms. Great view from terrace. Ten out of ten.

Irma A.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place for dinner. The food was amazing and so was all the staff. We can't forget the mariachi that played at sunset. The view of the sun setting behind the church was breathtaking.

Kelly M.

Yelp
As always we had a great time! The food was outstanding! The Mariachi band, views, sunset and fireworks make for a wonderful evening! Thanks for all your help Anna with the cab and photos! You were so sweet!

Mark T.

Yelp
The setting is absolutely beautiful. Deceptive from the outside appearance. You won't be disappointed. We enjoyed the Mariachi Band, one of the best we have heard. The service was outstanding. I had the Tuna for an appetizer, superb! Then I had the beef short ribs extremely tender and delicious. Finished with Crème Brûlée. My wife had the seafood angel hair pasta very nice. We will return.

Jose C.

Yelp
Words can't describe our experience. Elegant accommodations, breathtaking views, solid service, and delicious food. Will definitely be back when in PV.

Michael H.

Yelp
Incredible service and food. We always look forward to our meals in this lovely space.

Julia A.

Yelp
I almost hesitate to write this review as to not let the word out for our future bookings. However, this Hotel is so deserving, we will just book super early again for next year. When the staff opens the door to let you in, You actually feel like you have entered a magical paradise. Every year we reserve the Presidential Suite Package so if you can spring for that, go for it. From start to finish all Staff goes out of their way with their service and kindness. You can tell they take pride and appreciate your patronage. We had dinner in their restaurant and everything was presented so beautifully. Mariache Band was so fun and we took our aperitif to our Balcony and enjoyed the music from our Balcony in our private hot tub. This hotel is following strict Covid 19 protocols so we felt safe. The concierge booked our covid testing 24 hours before our flight to come to the property so everything went smoothly with that. Thank. you to everyone there for providing a nice, romantic get away which was especially needed for us during the " Covid" holiday. See. you again next year!

R L.

Yelp
Service and food was great HOWEVER bunch of customers are disturbingly low class: Grownup adults shouting, screaming, cursing, standing or walking around the table whole time etc,,, the musicians were getting along with those lousy people and being loud and completely ruined the ambiance. Whole ambiance will make you feel like you're at the lowlife sports bar. I should have wear tshirt and shorts instead of nice dress. We left earlier than we could have because of it. I know the restaurant can't choose customers and not their fault but it was THE WORST fine dining experience I ever had in any country. Wasted our time and money. W e won't going back.

Benjamin F.

Yelp
What a hotel. If you're in the mood for a wonderful boutique hotel that's set in the hills of Puerto Vallarta then this is your spot. Full of amazing artifacts and art inspired by the Catholic Church, this hotel transports you to another time and place. I'd assume that most people that visit PV are all about the all inclusive beach hotels but can I say, that's a mistake. Avoid the tourist traps and sink into a different Mexico experience...please!!! I've spent a couple vacations at this hotel and they have both been 5 stars all the way. Each room is unique and you feel like you have the entire hotel to yourself, it's magical. There are three different private pools, a great wine list and service with a smile. All of the rooms have blazing cold AC, and the linens are top notch. The best part of staying here is access to the chapel across the street. It not only provides some of the best views of PV but, is a moving experience. I'm not a holy person but there's something about this place that's moving. Check it out if you're staying... Lastly, let's talk location. It's situated in a great geographical area sandwiched in between the marina area and the river that flows to the sea. Lots of amazing restaurants are just a walk away and it's perfect for those that want to explore the area. All in all, I'm a lifer. It's a great place for any couple and romantic getaway.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants ever. The food, the service, the views - all unbelievable. Tucked away through a hidden door this hotel and restaurant are simply superb. 5 star everything. Every time we visit PV we make this a must stop place. The lamb, steaks, sides nothing to complain about here. MUST go to place if visiting. Fridays have mariachi band.

Yelp
This place is simply magic. The grounds, the flowers, the building, the view, the waiters, the patio... it was literally magical. The dinner was spectacular looking out at Puerto Vallarta and the sunset. A Mexican group of singers came and sang beautiful songs and ballads at our table... ivy and white lights lined the patio. A must do in PV. If I had the money, I'd buy this place as a home. Just spectacular on every level.

Yelp
Just spent a wonderful week at the Hacienda. Our room was spacious and decorated with very cool religious artifacts. The building and grounds are something to behold with 3 nice pools. The rooftop restaurant is a 4 star and was top notch; wonderful mariachi serenaded us. All in all a great experience. We had a private terrace overlooking the bay and it was quiet at night.

Yelp
The food was exceptional and the view was breathtaking. Just the building alone is worth going for. The coconut soup will knock your socks off. The shrimp, red snapper and steak were phenomenal. Do not miss out if you have the opportunity eat here.

Yelp
Such a beautiful hidden tucked away gem my husband to me to. Even with an overcast the view is spectacular. Our server Oscar added to our experience with his attentiveness making sure my husband was taken care of, allergies and all. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Yelp
A wonderful, beautiful, historic hotel, if you can afford the expense. The staff are delightful! Had an overnight power outage, but no harm done. The restaurant and all the accoutrements are very, very beautiful! Great for touring the sites and the Malecon, however not so good for beach access or pier access.

Yelp
To say Hacienda Saint Angel is the absolute best of the best dining experience in Puerto Vallarta, is clearly an understatement! You must try: * the oysters * the scallops * the caesar And - for your entree, the lamb with mint jelly is to die for, the lobster tail is over the top, and the filet mignon is a must have! Other guests loved the beef short ribs, the penne pasta was reported as lovely, and another guest ordered an off menu carbonara which was a chef's accommodation and it was out of this world delicious!

Yelp
We have stayed here many times on our annual vacation to PV - it was where we came on our honeymoon. Only once did we try another location...and we regretted it. The wonderful staff and impeccable service has us hooked. The restaurant is fantastic. Great views of the bay and town. The mariachis play six nights a week. The food is spectacular - the red snapper is terrific. The prices are in dollars...and expect to pay what you would for a nice dinner out in the US. It isn't a bargain, but if you are looking to splurge and have a memorable dining experience you won't regret it.
