Hacienda Uayamon (Campeche, Yucatan Peninsula) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just fifteen minutes from the historic walled city of Campeche, and deep in the heart of Mayan country, Hacienda Uayamon offers a taste of the other side of Mexican tourism — not the hedonistic indulgence of the seaside resorts, but the time-machine fantasy of the remotest places in the country’s interior." - Tablet Hotels

I do NOT recommend staying in this hotel, The price is insane for the acomodations and service that you get. Everything is very poorly maintained and very dirty, a lot of riped furniture, the buildings are in decay, the placemats were disgusting with old food stuck to them. the service is very very slow, and the food not great with very limited options. We stay before at puerta campeche with is the same group and they have the exact same menu, so after 5-6 days the menu was really boring The rooms door didnt close properly, we are a big family and were staying in 5 rooms and not even in one the doors work. Also you dont get enough hot water. You can only fill about 1/8 of the jacuzzi and you have to wait an hour and a half to have hot water again. In the soap the made i used the last of it and the bottom part was filled with bugs. The worst part is there is absolutely nothing to do. The pool was freezing and we were told they dont have a heater. They have around 4 very old bycicles and thats all. It’s absolutely not acceptable that they do tours and let people who is not staying in the hotel to use the pool. I was trying to get into my room and i had to wait for people who was taking pictures outside to finish. Its such a same that such a beautiful place is in this decay. Over all we have a very bad experience and i didnt even listed everything.

What an incredible place - the nicest we’ve ever experienced. Everything about our stay was perfect. Could not recommend it more highly.

We’ve now stayed at three of the five IHG haciendas on the Yucatan peninsula. Hacienda Uayamon is clearly one of the most beautiful: it is surrounded by lush gardens and woods with a deep wealth of birds. Understand that this is a hotel installed in the ruins of a picturesque, remote agricultural institution (sisal plantation)—it is gracious and luxurious, but not antiseptic and refined to the ultimate degree. This is the countryside. You may encounter imperfect plumbing, perhaps a frog in the shower (I did—it’s not a big deal), and creaky old doors that don’t operate perfectly. On the other hand, you will enjoy friendly service, a magical swimming pool, beauty, and peace. The food is fine and pleasant, but don’t expect memorable preparations—the kitchens in these haciendas are not ambitious. (I’d particularly love to see the haciendas elevate their regional cuisine, but of course, some guests would then whine about it being “too spicy” or otherwise challenging.) Understand that there’s not a great deal to do, here, either. The Edzna archaeological site is about half an hour away, and this is a great place to stay for that attraction. Picturesque Campeche city is 30 minutes in the other direction. The knowledgeable gardeners happily offer a bird watching tour (they supply good binoculars)—highly recommended. Mainly, if you’re ready to enjoy doing nothing in particular, then Hacienda Uayamon is a terrific choice. We stayed in a King Suite in the hacienda’s old hospital building. The room was fun and the bed excellent. Worth it.

Well this place left me with mixed feelings. The place itself is absolutely amazing, lost in the jungle, in historic buildings, I loved the experience. However I believe that for the price you pay you lack many things. The rooms are nice but not very furnished with 5* equipment. They are not clean and full of enormous spiders (inside the bed as well). The doors do not close properly, the bathtub outside seems very pleasant but doesn’t have enough hot water to be filled, the swimming pool is amazing but not clean, the service is nice but very very slow. So mixed feeling because for the price you pay you expect things to be perfect and they are really not. But the location is stunning.

A charming old hacienda with a huge jungle like garden and pool in ruins marketed as luxury 5* Hotel and charged over 600$ per night BUT not at all luxury hotel experience because: we stayed 3 days and small menu never changed even every day more things were out, so had to eat always the same. Quality of food was mediocre and at breakfast no butter (!) because Hotel run out of butter!!! Service was friendly but extremely inattentive and slow: had to go into the kitchen to ask for waiter ( beside us were only two other couple at that time). |First day of our stay a group of guest (family) conquered the pool and eat and drink in the pool not at the side of the pool.To Our complaints about that unhygienic and unsafety (glase broke) behavior didn’t change anything. Next day at pool were bottle corks and lemon slices frontage tequila drinks…|It’s such a pity as the place is charming but run in such a bad way! Nothing like luxury boutique hotel which is more than 600$ per night worth. Big disappointment

The facility is beautiful, but be ready to wait, and wait, and then wait. Service is poor. Staff are very friendly and inviting but extremely forgetful. We started off by showing up to our room for 4 with only 2 bottles of water, the top cover bed sheets had holes in it, our bathroom window with private tub had the blinds broken and missing, and there was a large amount of paint splatter on the wall from some ceiling fan touch up that must have been done some weeks prior. There are some scattered caves and caverns about the property which would be great to photograph however sadly they are packed with old construction debris and trash. Look out for hidden broken tables and other miscellaneous catering furniture behind walls through out the property that you will need to strategically angle your photo shots to make sure they do not fall into your back drop. We loved walking around the property and sitting at the pool, but be prepared to bring your own lunch or drinks, because getting a waiter or service requires you going to the front desk multiple times to order. The food was nothing to complain about however the cocktails are not worth the spending. All in all this hacienda has so much to offer and when we sat outside our room on the private covered decks, it is extremely peaceful, but it lacks the full Marriot service experience. Enjoy the location and the facility but go in knowing what to expect and it should not let you down as much as it did us. We plan to return because of it's tranquility but hope to see some improvements in the service.

While this hacienda (part of the 5 haciendas which are in the Luxury Collection of Marriott) is fairly isolated, it is still an excellent base to visit Maya ruins at Edzna and the small costal city of Campeche. |Founded 300 years ago, but with building dating mostly from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, this hacienda is filled with history. At one time, it was bursting with activities as many local people were working to produce dyes sold in Europe. Many buildings, including the factory and the chapel, are now in ruins but can still be visited, giving a unique atmosphere to that hotel. |A beautiful pool is found in another ruin, creating the impression that soaking in there brings you back to the past… I really had the impression of bathing in a Roman bath house!|The restaurant is located in the main building, overlooking the deep jungle. Beautiful settings with cocktail bar and library, as well as two outdoor terrasses. The food was very nice (without being gastronomic), but the cocktails were simply amazing. |Our room was located… in an old charity hospital! Very high ceiling and beautiful furniture. |Those historical settings have a cost… on one night we had no hot water, while internet was unavailable in the room for most of our stay.

The hotel and surroundings are beautiful , but the service is completely poor. The check in it’s with no special treatment (neither water was offered to us). The room telephone didn’t work, I reported it and nothing happened. We found 2 frogs in separate times (1 in the shower area & another in the toilet area) I had to walk a long way to the reception to report it. In the pool area (beautiful one) there were no towels, again I walk to the reception area to ask. We spend 2 days in the pool and no one showed up to offer us the bar service, I needed again to go to ask for a drink & snacks. In the second day I asked for towel service before we go to the pool and they didn’t leave them. The night before I reserved a table for breakfast, I arrived on time and the table was occupied, they completely ignore my solicitation. The restaurant has very good food and drinks, but lack of personnel, and lack of service, they don’t offer you coffee, they don’t come to your table to see what you need. As I said, the building, nature, surroundings are worth the visit. If you want to have a nice stay, bring your own beer & snacks for the pool. Enjoy the restaurant food and don’t expect a good service.

Yelp
We didn't stay overnight in this hacienda. We came to visit and had a lunch here. It is a very beautiful garden. I can spend a day to explore here. Every place here is worth to take the picture. The meals of their restaurant are good but a little expensive.(Appetizer: MXN$86~160, Main course: MXN$150~320) Atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome. Recommended to visit here.
