Let me start with the positives. The amuse-bouche was very strong, with the veal broth being the standout. The atmosphere is elegant and calm.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I had the standard tasting menu, with the additional crab and sweetbread. If I’m being brutally honest, the food wasn’t memorable. The flavors felt safe, with nothing daring, and overall the sodium levels were not well controlled. The wine pairing was disappointing as well, with no real standouts.
As for the service, it was overall a bit cold. The younger staff were friendly, and the manager was welcoming, but the rest of the team seemed to be there merely to fulfill their duties.
In the end, this was not a memorable experience. At best, I would rate it two stars. Michelin was too kind in awarding this restaurant three stars. I would instead recommend The Table by Kevin Fehling, the other three-star restaurant in Hamburg, which offers a far better experience.
