As a Bun Bo Hue enthusiast and a pilgrim of Vietnamese restaurants + local stalls in Vietnam I can proudly confirm that this has been my favourite outside Vietnam so far. Something about their broth hits different.. it’s honestly hard to describe but somehow every sip slaps my tongue screaming “How about I complete your life”. My partner who is the biggest non-Asian Pho fan I’ve ever met doesn’t even dare to breathe when slurping these noodles. It’s just simply dang good. Also the owners are super friendly! Surely you shouldn’t expect what is provided at a Michelin starred French restaurant, but as an Asian myself their lively and lovely attitude is the exact customer service I would love to have.

The owner was super welcoming and attentive. Recommended me another type of pho with more flavour! The portion was massive compared to other viet spots. I’ll be backkkk ❤️

A family-own restaurant with a large menu of classic and traditional Vietnamese dishes with options for vegetarians. Owners are very friendly. Portions are very generous and full of flavours. I loved the banh cuon! Come here if you want an authentic meal and not bothered about the frills!

Relentlessly delicious Vietnamese restaurant on Mare Street that you have to try if you happen to be in the area. This place has me about to faint. The food is so good and it's so chill and the service is top notch. I love the pho and the squid and and and everything there!

Probably the worst Vietnamese meals I have ever had. My friend’s pork dish was bone dry and my chicken was tough. The freshly chopped chilli was not fresh and when we pointed this out, we were met with defensiveness. She did take half off the pork after admitting she had deep fried it twice, meaning it wasn’t fresh. Awful!

Oh my gosh! Fantastic food! I’m so happy great flavours, the mint and chilli of the Summer rolls! Died and went food heaven! Thank you 😊

Vietnamese, cheap, BYO, not in/ near Shoreditch. Yes, this place ticks all the boxes! Not the best ever, but it does a great Goat meat, Lemon Grass and chilli starter, the grilled dumplings are yummy, and the Crispy Aromatic Duck is great. Rest of the food tried was fine, want to attempt a soup - look rather large, and the local vietnamese customers always seem to be eating this. Must be good!

Hai Ha, I so wanted to like you, and for us to be the best of pho-friends. Unfortunately, even on a rainy windy night, the pho broth here was so immensely disappointing after all the rave reviews on Yelp/Tripadvisor. Barely any of that cloying smell of spices or meat you'd usually expect. I suspect I get more flavor at home out of tossing a bouillon cube into water. Portions are meh as well. Pho is around £7.50, for various meats. We should have peeked in, noticed how no one was Vietnamese, and spun right around!

After a long, tiring weekend, my boyfriend and opted to order in a Vietnamese. We decided to try Hai Ha as we are due to move into the area soon so thought we'd try and find a new local and I'm not going to lie, we were swayed by the free delivery. The food did not disappoint and arrived promptly. There was so much of it with the goat noodle dish a particular highlight. We also tried some of the fresh rolls and mango salad which were fresh and flavoursome. Highly recommend for somewhere which is as a good as the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road.

I had never tried Vietnamese before. What is it about Christmas that draws me closer to other cuisine? Savouring other tastes in anticipation of making that Christmas meal all the more foreign perhaps. This restaurant delightful. You can byob, which is always delightful with the corkage at just £1 per person. The food portions were immensely fresh perfectly sized. I had a delicious duck in a sticky sweet sauce that was so fresh and zingy. There was just so much on the menu that I will definitely been stopping in for another look. Definitely a reliable haunt for bringing someone to dinner for a reasonably priced reliable meal!

Pho-king great! You don't have to go to Kingsland Road to get a decent bowl of Pho. Right here you can BYOB and slurp away on a tasty soup. I like this place because it gives you options. Large or small and a variety of meats. I struggle to finish a huge bowl of Pho that they normally serve out, so being able to get a smaller size was perfect. Everything is made fresh so it doesn't come out super fast but that's cool because you can open up you're wine and nibble on their soft shell crabs while you wait. Not quite the standard of some of the other places I have been but indeed it is tasty!

Came in here in the hope of a good, flavorful Bo Kho, which is like a beef stew and usually served with bread, ho fun or rice. Instead there was no option of baguette, and only ho fun/rice. The rice I ordered never came but did show on the bill at the end.. The Bo Kho was more like spicy, tumeric infused beef in a watery jus. So I ordered another main, Bo Luc Lac (shaking beef on bed of salad).. this is usually the dish I order when I am having Vietnamese food, so I know the variations but this was some variation that did not work. The beef was far from 'shaking', they were well done and garlic overpowered the marinade. The taste of garlic overpowered my day, and several haribos and bubblemint chewing gums later, I was still burping up the garlic! The meal was saved slightly by the starter.. we went for quail was was cooked really well, juicy, tricky to eat but well worth the sticky fingers after! Had a Vietnamese iced coffee, which had good balance of the nutty coffee and condensed milk.. and of course, crushed ice! There are so many choices in the neighborhood for Vietnamese food, so you are spoiled for choice. Having said that, I have had some good meals here, so maybe just the Bo Kho and Bo Luc Lac are to be avoided.

If you like a BIG bowl of pho, then this place had the friendliest service. Staff pulled the curtains over the door as the temperature dropped and the food came out quickly. The beef pho was gorgeous and filling and the biggest portion I've had so far. The banana fritter was decent and they served orange slices as I waited for it to arrive.

I go to Hai Ha when grocery shopping in the area and need a bite to eat. It is nothing special but can satisfy that need for a Vietnamese lunch. The soups are a bit weak to be honest and I end up adding more fish sauce/hoisin/siracha to balance the flavours of the pho. They don't really have a stand out dish and one wishes that their menu would be a bit smaller and have them concentrate on a few really decent dish. That said, avoid the bo luc lac (shaking beef) it is way way too garlicky and will be an unwelcome friend in your mouth all afternoon. What I do love is they are extremely friendly and understand a fellow Viet's need for fresh chillies to accompany his meal :)

Hai Ha is a great Vietnamese cafe serving good food at very good prices. The restaurant's exterior and interior is not spectacular but the bench seating combined with circular tables makes it a relaxed place to eat. You are able to bring your own wine which is good news for the off licence next door. There are a few Vietnamese restaurants scattered on Mare Street but Hai Ha is definately my favourite. The barbecue ribs and the rice with mixed meats is so delicious and the portions are very generous. The staff are usually friendly but the odd occassion where someone has been a bit abrupt has been quickly forgotten when the food arrives.

This Vietnamese restaurant is a regular hang out for my friends and I. It's a pretty standard cafe lay out, you don't go there for the decor, you go for the food! A place where you can fill your belly for a fiver or chuck in a tenner with a few friends and order vast quantities of food, a veritable feast that has you rolling out of the restaurant with a warm glow. Oh and it's BYOB! just brilliant Best dishes: Starters: Fried squid or king prawns with salt and lemongrass Cha thit Nuong - chargrilled slices of pork Fresh Summer Rolls Crispy Aromatic duck Mains: Any ho fun in soup - fill belly for a fiver! the duck, the bbq pork or the veg are very good. add more chilli for a good burn. If you like sweet and sticky then go for the crispy duck in chilli sauce - it's not very hot but it's lovely and sweet and comes with caramelised carrots,yumyum. My personal favourite hangover cure is the Vietnamese style sweet and sour chicken (the pork one is great too) Otherwise the favourite of the boys is Roast Belly Pork You only ever need 1 rice between 2 people and the same goes for noodles - in fact their fried noodles with beansprouts at £2.80 is enough for 3 or 4 people! I go at night, for lunch and even on a hangover for some soup for a late breakfast on a Saturday. Cheap and cheerful, try it!

I've been going to and ordering from the Hai Ha for a number of years with both family and friends and feel saddened that I have to post this review but given that the last three times I've eaten there I've had to complain I have to share my experiences. So the reasons for the 1 star rating. - They use chicken which tastes close to or past expiry. - I've previously waited an hour and 45 minutes for a delivery which was promised in half an hour. I was constantly assured it was 5 minutes away and finally offered a free can of coke with my next order as compensation. - Most recently I was charged £15.90 for two small wonton soups, a king prawn dish and some prawn crackers. When I questioned the prices when compared to their website (£10 for that order) I was asked 'what do you want me to do about it?' before eventually being offered 10% off my next order, a price which most places offer for collection anyway. Overall, below average food at inflated prices with poor customer service.

Have been a vegetarian for 30 years and ordered aubergine with tofu, was given pork and unfortunately ate a few mouthfuls before realising (thought it was TVP). Mistakes happen but when I called and explained what had happened they offered to give me the meal I had ordered, I said thank you but this was not enough in circumstances, the lady offered some vege soup and said it would with me in ten minutes, it arrived 45 mins later.

Fantastic Vietnamese cuisine in Hackney - there are a few choices in this area but Hai Ha is good for being really fairly priced and having a great menu, with some pretty authentic cuisine options including goat dishes. BYOB (but not soft drinks) - nothing special to look at, but it's all about the food.

Not the best, everything is soft and tastes the same.. It's never full on the weekends which explains a lot..

Have been regulars here, but the last two times they have brought us the wrong dishes and argued with us rather than try to sort their mistakes out. Just ended up eating lukewarm noodles and feeling very ripped off. Time to go back to Green Papaya.
