Appreciation for Gao Tao Tao (高桃桃) – Haidilao Bugis, Table 8, 25 September 2025
As a gold tier member with 86 Haidilao visits, I’ve experienced service from many head and assistant managers across outlets. On this visit to Bugis, I was served by Gao Tao Tao, and she delivered one of the most impressive service experiences I’ve had.
Despite not being a regular at Bugis, Gao Tao Tao exceeded expectations. She visited our table 12 to 15 times between 6:35pm and 8:05pm, checking in every 3 to 5 minutes with purpose — refilling drinks, responding to requests, and ensuring everything was in order. Her memory was exceptional. She remembered our coriander preferences across soup and sauce requests without reminders, and when she noticed we preferred our soups more flavourful, she adjusted the broth each time to suit our taste. These small but thoughtful acts truly complete the customer experience.
Even while managing four full tables, she handled multiple requests with grace and precision. I asked for a customised sauce, cold beancurd skin with seven condiments, steamed eggs, and noodle-pulling — all while she was mid-drink refill — and she delivered everything flawlessly. Her multitasking and attention to detail are traits every staff member should learn from.
She also displayed high emotional intelligence, engaging us naturally and making everyone feel included. Her warmth was sincere, and she treated us like friends, not just another table. Even the usual Haidilao niceties felt personal and well-timed, not just freebies handed out for show.
Gao Tao Tao exemplifies what excellent service looks like. I suspect she has years of experience, yet she isn’t a manager — which surprises me. I hope her contributions are recognised and her example shared across outlets. I’ll definitely return to Bugis and hope to see her in a black uniform with a shiny new name tag.
