Haidilao Hot Pot London Piccadilly

Haidilao has been on my must-visit list for a long time so I was pleased to finally visit. My friends and I arrived at 7 and waited about 15 minutes for a table. Whilst we waited we were offered a hot drink and a snack. When we were taken to a table we were offered hand wipes, cloths to wipe the steam from classes, aprons (since the soup can splash), and hair ties. I thought these were all very thoughtful details. Our server, Yang Fan, was extremely help when explain how to order and made sure that we ordered food that was suitable for our dietary needs. We accidentally ordered something containing egg (which we couldn't eat) which he realised and deducted it from our bill. Yang Fan was really attentive throughout our time in the restaurant and it looked like the other servers were very keen to help guests too. The food itself was good - the options are significantly limited for vegetarians and vegans but there are still several soups and items to choose from. We were told that customers are given free ice cream, which we didn't eat. The only negatives were that £3.90 per person for dips seemed quite expensive and the ingredients are sold in sharing portions so it could get extremely expensive if everyone wants to order separate items. It's a very large restaurant so it does get very noisy and there are entertainers in costumes which walked around the restaurant. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience - I felt well looked after and the food tasted good.

I was really impressed by the service. When we mentioned that the food was spicy, the staff( XiaoLin ) quickly brought us soy milk and jelly without us even asking. They were so thoughtful and attentive throughout the whole meal. The food was great, but the service made the experience even better. Thank you for XiaoLin!

Really good time out, the broths were tasty. Got one spicy, one mushroom and one braised beef. Really recommend the braised beef, it was perfect balance of sweet and salty. Mushroom was also good earthy, but felt it lack compared to the braised beef. We got a bunch of meats, seafood, beef, chicken. The seafood was great, I loved the squid tentacles which were chewy, and also loved the ox tongue. It’s got a chewy texture but I love that and it tasted so good when cooked with the braised beef. The whole read sharing platter was also great and looked amazing. The staff and atmosphere was also good, a lot of birthdays for which they sing to people. We also got the kung fu noodles which come with a dance which was great entertainment Only thing I’d say disappointed is the chicken, put simply wasn’t a fan of the flavour. Also as a warning it’s very easy to lose the food you cook in the hotpot (unless I’m doing it wrong) so be aware of overcooking. Otherwise a very positive experience. The staff were super friendly and would check up on if you need anything without intruding

Super service and delicious food. The waiter was excellent—very polite and attentive, taking great care of us. There were some issues with our voucher, but the manager happily resolved them. We also had great fun with the entertainment, trying to figure out the stick trick. Thank you! We will definitely come back again with more friends.

Our server; SiJing was so nice and fun to talk to, the food was amazing and the experience was 10/10. I came with my brother for the first time and we were treated very nicely! If you want to have an amazing hotpot experience, i would recommend coming here!

Coming here is an experiance . It is not just the food. But eveeything around the food. It is so clean and nice. Everything has a place. You can put your coat in the drawer under the table or the put a cloth so it wont get dirty while you eat they give you a ruberband for your hair and an apron . For the food you can choose upto 4 different soups you choose meet chicken vegtebels and more.. you put it all in the soup . In the end in the bathroom you havemouth wash and a dental toothpick . e

The service was very good. Our server YI HE took a very good care of us. She was very attentive and so sweet. She was always refilling the water and checking up on us constantly. And also she gave us a panda it was so cute.

Good hot pot which is quite comparable to good hot pot places in Asia. Even if you book a table for a specific time slot you may neee to wait in the entrance for 5-15 mins since the place is always packed. The selection of broths is good. Tom yum was pretty good even though not classic. The mushroom broth was underwhelming and not as rich. The sichuan broth was way too spicy for me. Guizhou broth was a bit inconclusive - tasted the best among four initially but I started getting some aftertaste after a whole. In terms of the meat, it definitely doesn’t matter whether you get a more expensive premium cut vs something more basic - it tastes more or less the same after being boiled and when you add all the sauces. The plum juice was nice. Instant noodles were really bad and had some weird aftertaste. The Huoguo noodles tasted well though! Overall a nice activity. Don’t expect extra mind blowing flavours but it’s nice to have a meal there once in a long while

Haidilao delivers an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service is incredible, the food quality is top-tier, and the whole experience feels like dinner and a show rolled into one. It's lively, welcoming, and genuinely fun for the entire family. Even the waiting area is unique and thoughtfully done, which says a lot about how much they care about the customer experience. The staff and waitresses were all lovely, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We ordered a huge spread--pretty much the entire menu and then some--and everything was delicious. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd recommend staying away from the Sichuan soup. On the other hand, the clam-based soup was one of our favorites--comforting, flavorful, and perfect for balancing out the meal. Amazing food, amazing service, and a great atmosphere. Haidilao is absolutely worth the visit while in London.

Fun hot pot spot to try with a large group while visiting London! We were a group of 8 and there was perfectly sized tables for groups of this size where we wrap around and are close enough to talk to everyone. Sharing hot pots are divided into four quadrants - we got half and half mala spice and the mild but super savory mushroom broth. Very different but both excellent! Individual dishes are ordered via iPad. We got a large selection of meats, veggies, noodles, and some more unusual delicacies like beef cheek and colon(?). There are self serve stations for sauce making, and some small sides and desserts/fruits. I LOVED the seaweed salad there and got three helpings... not sure what goes into this but it was so yummy. Tissue boxes at the table are a nice touch for runny noses with the spicy broth! There's a bit of a show that comes with ordered hand pulled noodles! A staffer comes out and pulls and spins and dances with the noodles table side. I think they also sing for birthdays (seemed to be a couple of those around us). For tourists, this is located in a nice area for a bit of a site walking tour before or after dinner! (To either work up an appetite or walk off a bit meal.) We strolled - Trafalgar Square, Big Ben & viewing Parliament/Westminster, St James Park, and Buckingham Palace.

I'm a huge fan of Haidilao as a chain restaurant concept. I've experienced it in China, Queens, and London, and it has always been consistently excellent, maintaining that signature Haidilao charm and outstanding customer service. This visit was no different. I came here with a friend during Chinese New Year week, and everything we ordered was extremely good. (Yes, I meant to say that twice!) The only thing worth noting is that the prices have definitely gone up since my last visit--especially for the hot pot base. Still, the quality and experience were top-notch, and I'd absolutely come back again!

The service was good and efficient. The meat were also good and tasty. I only got 2 complaints about this. I don't like how they charge for the sauces considering eating something like this, you would usually dip the meats in the sauce. Also they placed a jug of tea on our cart, without saying anything, we thought it came with the meal so we poured some for ourselves and drank it, yet when we were about to pay, they then told us it was not free and we would be charged for each cup. The other option was for each of us to write a review then they will take out the charges for the tea. They basically purposely not told us anything about the jug of tea so that they could either charge us more, or get reviews from us.

I've always wanted to visit this chain and the experience did not disappoint! The tea was beautiful and bloomed in the hot water and had a lovely aroma. I got the tom yum broth which I'd never had before and it was so good! It came with some shrimp and lemon slices in the broth too which was an added bonus. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh. They have a smaller selection than other AYCE hot pot chains which was a bummer and they also make you pay for the self service sauce bar which was a first for me.

This place was great. We ordered multiple rounds of food because it was just so good. They had these towers to place the raw foods on before we cooked them. It really saved space and I haven't seen that other places before. The dumplings were delicious and so were the scallion pancakes. I will 100% come back here and you should too! The staff was good even though they were swamped with tables. You order on tablets which is nice so you make sure you get what you want and nothing is missed! Plus you can see what you're ordering rather than hoping you list everything you wanted.

The only reason this restaurant is getting 2 stars is because the food was fantastic. Everything was fine until the very end. The check was left in a random spot and my son happened to find it. No one came around to ask if we were done. This young man stood and stared separately at myself and then my son when the other person had gone to the restroom. I placed the check on the table with my credit card and no one came. I finally asked a server to take my payment. AFTER paying, as we walked out, the young man CHASED us up the stairs accusing me of not paying. I showed him the receipt. We left and then returned to complain so that no one else has to experience this. As a "sorry", the manager gave us 2 oranges, 2 apples, and 2 drinks. The next morning I decided to eat an orange and it was so old, there was no juice at all inside. In addition, the manager said that the company charges the employees for meals when customers don't pay! That's a terrible policy and this company will never get my business again

Hands down best hot pot place in town, pricy but worthy, and be careful don't order too much, as some food are already in the north, you can also get salad, bread and Chinese soup dessert from the sauce table. Service was superb compare to other Chinese restaurants. We ordered triple flavor and spicy broth, turns out the spicy one was too much for me. All dishes including meat, shrimp, fish and verges were very delicious. For $2.99, you can enjoy a noodle show & dance by the table. We had a great time here.

I ordered the chicken and mushroom soup base, marinated chicken slices, haidilao styled beef, and fish balls. The food was ok/good, the meat was fatty/chewy. I more so enjoyed the service than the food, wish all restaurants provided service like haidilao. Our servers were super sweet and kind. They accommodated us without a reservation. They always refilled our waters, spooned out the bubbles/fat on top of the soup, and removed the plates we were done with. The bathrooms were clean and stocked with anything you would need (toothpick, mouthwash, hair ties, pads). Their flower wall was cute for picture taking.

Always a go to place all over the world for late night hot pot. It's a pity there weren't many options for vegetables during our last visit

For someone who lives in Cali, I feel like this was quite expensive. We usually have all you can eat $20 per person hot pot/shabu places! Despite it coming out to approximately $35 per person, it was really good!! We came at around 9:30 pm (they close at 2am) and the guy at the front gave us a ticket and said that there was about 36 parties ahead of us, so we took the ticket and went to walk around. They have this online checking system which showed us our position in line which I thought was pretty cool. It was about 11:45pm now and we decided to head back to the restaurant since our position was going down (15 at this time). We went inside and they have a waiting area where people can get manicures, snacks, drinks, and even play some games while waiting for their numbers to be called. They stop accepting people for the waitlist after a certain time though. I saw some people trying to get on the waitlist at the time I went back to the restaurant, but they apologized and turned the customers away. It was around midnight when our number was finally called. Two hours and 30 minutes that we had to wait! We wanted to go somewhere else, but there has to be a reason so many people come to eat here and we already committed! We went downstairs where they have all the tables and honestly, it was very clean and organized. It was my boyfriend's first time at a shabu place and he really enjoyed it. They have this sauce station where you can make your own sauce! My boyfriend got the mushroom and chicken broth and I got the very very spicy mala broth. The mala broth is so spicy, so I don't recommend getting that if your taste buds can't handle spicy. We ordered two bowls of rice, beef, lamb, enoki mushroom, and Chinese cabbage. We ordered on an iPad which gets sent to the kitchen and the waiters would bring out our meats and veggies. There wasn't too much interaction with the waiters, but whenever I needed something, they were quick and kind to help me out! My boyfriend thought the meat tasted very fresh. Although this is on the pricier end, I would definitely recommend trying this shabu place out and I would definitely come back!!

From Tokyo to London - Haidilao is to go place for hot pot . Try their signature noodle which comes with special performance :D

As usual hdl always keeping it good and never disappoints me even though it is quite expensive still worth it to eat here everything was lovely and meets my expectation. Recommended if you have never tried hdl before. Recommended to keep coming back and im coming back again. Cheers!

Just like in China. Full of Chinese customers on Sunday afternoon. Ready to queue up at 5pm Excellent food and service. Just like in China. Selection of condiments is excellent. Hot pot choices are ok for meats and veggies, but do not expect organ meats (delicacy in China and commonly eaten). If you do not speak Mandarin, invite a friend who can, staff speaks mandarin and some English

I've never been to a Hai Di Lao branch until the one in London opened and I'm impressed! The service is impeccable! While you wait for a table, there is a manicure station, games and free snacks (including Haagendaz). Ordering is also super easy with the iPad and the food comes within seconds from when the order is placed. We ordered our broth first and took our time with ordering the food so that the broth would have ample time to boil. There's also built-in ventilation in each hot pot stove so the smell isn't too bad considering the dining area is on the basement floor. For the broths, I recommend trying the spicy (it's numbing), original and mushroom ones! The quality of the food is also better than most hot pot restaurants in Central London. Most importantly, compared to other hot pot spots, Hai Di Lao has the biggest selection of toppings and sauces for your own dipping sauce! Table service is also amazing. Every person gets an apron and a zip lock bag for your phone. Throughout dinner, servers offered to peel our shrimp, refill our (self-serving) cold dishes, change our plates, etc. There's was also a Chinese mask changing performance which really made the place a lot more energetic. Overall, it was such a pleasant and fun experience and it's been my latest most frequented place!

Having been Haidilao's loyal customer for the past 15 years, I have been to Haidilaos around the world, and this Haidilao is THE worst. Service is close to none, ambiance is chaotic and food quality is mediocre. I don't know if this is franchised out or still owned by Haidilao corporate, but looking at this particular restaurant, Haidilao would have lost alll it's competitive edge in the market. Very unhappy about the experience and won't go back.

Everything was good but the line was ridiculous... Went there by myself on a Sunday night and had to wait for 1.5 hours.

I've only had one experience with hot pot before and keen to try this one we arrived about 5pm on a Sunday and had to wait for an hour as you can't book. What an hour we had! Free snacks, free ice cream, free manicure, board games and water of course! This was amazing and we hadn't even been to our table yet. The time flew by and we were escorted to our booth and shown the ropes. We chose four assorts broths, quite spicy, Malay, mushroom and tomato based. We had a veggie in our party so decided which ones would be dedicated to tofu and veg and which for the meat (we ordered lamb and beef). There's also a section where you can create your own sauces with an amazing selection of ingredients to put in. Ordering on iPads was cool and almost instantaneous too! The food was so delicious and we realised you don't really need the meet and the tofu and noodles (order the dancing ones) were the best thing to have. Couple that with the brilliant and friendly service and you've got a winner here! I can't recommend this place enough and it's so so different to anything else you'll ever see or experience here in London and that's saying something. Enjoy!

Managed to get a last minute booking at Haidilao. We ordered the following: - Sliced Lamb - Beef Tripe - Sliced Ribeye - Handmade Fish Mash - Chinese Dough Sticks - Chinese Cabbage - Enoki - Bamboo - Sesame paste - Bean paste - Coriander - Spring Onion - Garlic Before talking about the food, this had the best off-the-table experience I've ever had when eating out. When arriving you are placed in a waiting room and given a goody bag of snacks (and a manicure supposedly if you're extra early) and the toilets are stocked with disposable toothbrushes, mouthwash and cotton buds. All really nice touches. Even the layout of the restaurant, down in the basement has a really nice vibe to it. The staff are all friendly and periodically check in on you to remove the scum from the broth. Now onto the food. The Chinese dough sticks and mash were insanely good. The dough sticks absorb the flavours of the broth, becoming wonderfully soggy and the mash has a delightful texture and appearance. The meats were decent but also the biggest problem with the restaurant. Out of everything, the meat was the weakest part of the whole evening, falling into the shadows of the side dishes and off-the-table wonders which is a crime for a hotpot place. It was tasty but not special, as the other things were, which perhaps made them seem worse than they actually were. Had that not been the case, this would have been the best hotpot place I've ever been to.

Waiter attitude is bad, don't know how to react nice to customer. Would recommend better employee training as price on menu is much more expensive in where-else

We came 10 minutes before they opened and was seated via walk in. They let us hang out in the waiting zone on the ground floor and provided free snacks. All the workers are so nice and the service is spectacular, even when the place filled up. The food is also really good! Highly recommend!
