The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"Yes, Haidilao is the largest hot pot chain in China, but you should still make a visit to the Markham outpost, if not for the eight different soup bases (the spicy mala rules), then certainly for the “noodle dance” performed by staff (imagine rhythmic gymnastics combined with noodle pulling). Keep your head up if the staff leap into a performance — patrons have been known to get smacked by wayward noodles. Note: Unlike some other hot pot spots, there’s no all-you-can-eat option here. This has easily become my FAV place for hot pot!!! The food is consistently good & the quality is high. My parents who are generally very critical on food taste & quality agree that it is done well here. My hubby who used to hate hot pot now loves it after his visit here. The service is top notch. There are special touches here such as aprons we can wear. This is good for me since I always end up splashing broth/food all over. They also give you baskets to put certain food items in so it doesn't get lost in the pot. Hair ties to keep your hair out of the way. They also do free manicures Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. onwards but can't recall what time the lady there says it ends. The ambiance is great here! High ceilings, bright and very spacious! They also have secret codes you can tell them for free items.

Google
Excellence service. We celebrate my son’s birthday here and we enjoyed a joyful night and hot pot dinner here. They have shows such as Chinese opera dancing and noodle dancing both are interesting and gave extra entertainment during your hot pot. Food quality is good and quite many options.

Wow what an elevated hot pot experience here. We came here right before the dinner rush and avoided the wait. But even you had to wait, there’s a small children play space, nail station, and various games and entertainments. There is also a special timing game, where if you hit exactly 10.000 seconds on the timer, you can score 20% off your meal. The moment we sat down, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. It felt like we had a personalized server that came over every 2 mins to check on us. Ordering the food on the iPad can get a little confusing, but once the waiter saw that we had trouble, they came over to explain everything in detail. They had nice high hair/booster seats and small bowls for the kids. Pro tip: if you tell them a special code you can score freebies. I def recommend the tomato broth that was so good, we drank it as soup. There was also a live show in the middle of dinner, where everyone stopped to enjoy. Overall, the food felt fresh and made to order. We would def go back.

Google
I highly recommend you don't wait as long as I did to try this place. The food is fresh and the soup bases are delicious, the salad/desert bar is a steal at $3.99 and it is a very clean and organized establishment. Our servers Teresa and Jeff were 2 of the best servers I have had in my recent memory. They check in regularly, explained everything thoroughly and were very friendly. I will definitely return here soon and often.

We came to Haidilao for a birthday celebration and had an amazing time. We chose the pork bone and tomato broths, and both were absolutely delicious. The meats were tender and full of flavor. The honeydew was so good I couldn’t stop going back for more. There was a great variety of options to choose from, which made the experience even better. What truly made our visit five stars was Jeff. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and always there when we needed him. Honestly, he is one of the best waiters I have ever had. There was also a fun performance during our visit, which added to the lively atmosphere. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back.

Google
Haidilao is one of our go-to spots for Chinese hot pot, and honestly, it never gets old! We’ve been lots of times, and it’s still such a fun and satisfying experience. The menu is always abundant, with so many soup bases, condiments, meats, and fresh vegetables to choose from, it’s impossible to get bored. Yesterday the AC was down on the hottest day of the year, the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The noodle-pulling show was impressive, and the noodles were perfectly al dente when cooked. The face-changing performance was entertaining, and we even got a complimentary manicure! Haidilao is more than just dinner, it’s dinner and fun, with top-notch service. Always a good time!Highly recommended!

Google
This was my first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. I wish more restaurants would take a page from their book—it’s not just about how much you can charge, but how happy you make your customers. When the service is exceptional, tips naturally follow. I had a wonderful dining experience with my family. Special thanks to the manager, Zoey, and the waitress for their outstanding service. Sure, you can have hotpot at home, but the experience at Haidilao—especially the warm, attentive service—is what makes it truly special.

Google
We came here to celebrate our birthday. Big fans of the franchise but first time trying it outside of Asia. Impressed with the decoration and how they are able to keep it consistent and on brand half way around the world! The iPad menu order system is also the same… the prices are similar too but just in Canadian dollars! So yes, it’s a bit on the pricy side. The atmosphere and performances kind of make up for it. The nostalgia factor is huge for us and our family. Will be back in the future but definitely can’t afford to eat here as often as we did in Shanghai!

Yelp
Came here with a group of 8 for the late night ayce beef special. Reservations are highly recommended. Overall, wow. Haidilao hot pot experience was almost like an all inclusive - type feel. Service was great. Attentive. Responsive. Meat was plentiful, flavourful & soup bases were packed with flavour. Was a fan of the laksa soup base. Loved the sauce station, with so many options to customize your sauces!! Can make a bunch of different sauces to compliment your hot pot meats/noodles/items. P.s. there are secret haidilao codes that you can request from the servers for free items. Feel free to look them up online. We personally used "I like your golden bricks" and obtained free condensed milk deep fried buns (YUMMY!!!!!). Service was so attentive that they pay attention to empty water often, gives gloves if ever using your hands, aprons (to prevent splashing), hair ties for the girlies, and also nails (done with reservation) if available! Overall 5/5, would definitely come back!

Yelp
Coming from someone who usually prefers hot pot at home, it's a rare occasion for me to go out for it, especially when it's a chain. That said, the quality of the food was pretty good, even if the price was a bit steep. They definitely make up for it with the service and the entertainment. The day I went, they had a Chinese performance with a performer who switched between what felt like a zillion masks. I swear I've only ever seen that kind of thing on TV, so seeing it live was actually pretty cool. I ended up paying around $80 for my portion alone, though we definitely over-ordered. Apparently, if you eat quickly and leave earlier, they give you a discount, which I only found out after the fact. This place isn't AYCE (which is what I prefer), but I still ordered way too much because I wanted to try so many things. Though I think recently saw that they do have an AYCE option... which may be more cost effective. We went with two soups, tomato and spicy version, it really adds up the price, especially the spicy soup base. If I go again, I'd probably get an extra portion of plain "soup" (aka boiling water) just to rinse off some of the spice. I noticed a few other tables doing that, and it honestly makes sense. We got their signature seasoned meats, some meatballs, shrimp paste, and a variety of veggies. Everything was solid, though in hindsight, we probably didn't need the seasoned meats--the spicy and tomato broths added more than enough flavor. I also really liked the DIY sauce station and the shaved ice dessert bar. Nice little touches that round out the experience. Though I can't say I'll be jumping to revisit again. I think I heard the Scarborough location may have a free manicure, which I think is much better value for me.

Yelp
April 29, 2025 - I went to get the late night special, meat carnival, $19.95 pp. The food was great. It was an all meat special, so we ordered an assortment of meat; fish, chicken, lamb, beef etc. We also got the sweet buns with condensed milk using the special code. That was good too.

Yelp
My first hot pot experience in Canada and won't be the last! Saw this place on TikTok and had to check it out.. it met all of our expectations and more! They had great lunch specials, the ice jelly station was so fun & we used some secret codes to extra items! "Your soup base is so yummy" = a free bag of tomato soup base! "Can we have the golden bars?" = order of fried dough with sweetened condensed milk Pro tip: you can take home whatever you don't eat, including your broths!

Yelp
Most interesting experience at a restaurant! This chain stands apart from any Chinese restaurant let alone hot pot. They are overly well staffed beyond any restaurant I've seen, so that there is always attentive service. This is pretty unusual of any Asian restaurant, let alone The Keg steakhouse! There is a lot of small details here that they offer and I'm sure we didn't even see all of it. From sealed hand wipes, soup splash aprons(even kiddy sized), kid friendly plates/cups/toy puzzle, wipes for eyeglasses and hair ties you can request for, plastic sealed hair combs and hair dryer in the clean washroom. There are pull out cubbies under your booth seat to store jackets/purses. A swivel holder for water/beverage jug. We came for early dinner at 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening, and when leaving the place was full and line up crowding into the cold. This is a sleepy looking plaza at night but do not be fooled how busy this place can be and how hard parking can become. Once we arrived we were quickly, warmly welcomed. Funny, as my kids wanted to wait so they could check out the free snacks, look at the hot fruit teas, and I wanted to get a manicure since the little girl was almost done her polish by the manicurist. Order is done by tablet, pick your flavoured broths or you can request hot water which is free. We tried and would highly suggest their House Tomato, and Sukiyaki (Japanese, sweet soy sauce like) for the kids or meat lovers. Everything we tried was delish and soft. The tender beef, no idea what part this is from, but the kids gobbled it up and wanted more. Chicken, shrimp, beef tendon balls is typical. The shrimp baggie is neat, really plump and tender. The server came to portion it into the soups for us. It's very neat to watch their finesse; squeezing the bag and snipping it into bite size, while I would have made a different art project with it! Veggies, tofu pockets/rolls, lotus root are a must try and partly strategic. They absorb the flavour and soup so well. You can order noodle from the Dancing Guy for $4.95. It's entertaining as we had a good dancer and he has different jams playing on his speaker while making his noodle lasso but it's not a lot of noodles. Let's say 4 feet of noodle, making it nice to try but any noodle fan would want more. $3.99/person for the sauce and dessert bar. It's a tradition for hot pot patrons to make their own saucey concoction. Some swear by a recipe and it gets copied in the family to make this experience. Some are just trying new flavours and making experiments but it's part of the fun of hot pot. We skipped this add on as the soup broth is enough flavour. The dessert bar is more "toppings one can find in a bubble tea drink" and not fruits or cakes. They gave individual Chapman ice creams to us instead and some fruit slices on the house. This place is neat to try with anyone new to hot pot. It's not cheap ordering Ala carte, we could have saved money dining at an AYCE but it's not the same quality as here.

Yelp
Went there for hotpot tonight. 5 pm seating was good not busy yet. We were told they are fully booked for the night and we must leave after 90 minutes. 3 of us picked 15 dishes among us. We picked the pork none soup base, $24.95 The dishes were ok but not as good as last time in August. Surprisingly the Hostess told me I got a 15% discount because we finished eating in less than one hour! Total cost after tax and tips $162.15

Yelp
I came here with family on a Friday evening and it was packed. Luckily we had a reservation and didn't have to wait long. The service was amazing and the staff were so attentive. I spilled something during the night and three staff ran over to me to help me clean. We also had two birthdays in the group and they sang them a song, along with some gifts as well. There is a large sauce and dessert jelly bar. Everything is ordered on an iPad. The food quality is good and decent portions. Our bill came to around $60 per person, which was in par with AYCE prices, and we all left super satisfied. Look forward to coming back here again!

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was amazing. We enjoyed our time there. It was on a Friday night and was very busy. They allowed us extra time there and did not rush us out ... which we appreciate. After 9 pm, we order the special beef for over $3.99 per order. Excellent deal

Yelp
haidilao, my hotpot heaven. as a silver member that has been here 50+ times, i realized i have never written a review lol. service is always a 12/10. they go above and beyond: handing me a hair tie, giving me free food and drinks, remembering my name and birthday, etc. food here is pretty standard - can't expect too much from hotpot food. beef slices here are cheap at certain times, and the cuts are getting thicker which i love. soup bases always rich and not too msg-like. vibes here are always amazing. i love the homey feeling and occasional noodle dances and birthday celebrations.

Yelp
I was looking for more hot pot options lately and finally got an opportunity to try Haidilao. I've tried their chain in China years ago, the vibe and noodle dance impressed me a lot back then. We made a reservation in advance and it was only a few minutes' wait before we were seated. This restaurant was quite kids friendly, providing you high chair, kid's utensils and free kid's toys. The food was relatively more pricy than many other Chinese hot pot restaurants in GTA (expect ~$60 per adult). For food, we ordered quite some varieties. For soup base, we tried the pork bone and the mushroom. The pork bone soup base was more flavourful. The food was generally with fresh quality. My favourites include the marble beef, the cheese stuffed meatball and their signature hand pulled noodle (the signature noodle dance by the staff is a plus too). The lamb wasn't good though. It was pretty dry and hard. Not good cut. It also took much longer time for the water to boil at this restaurant compared to other hot pot places previously. Overall, this place offered decent but not wowing quality of food at expensive price. I might revisit occasionally but it's not my no. 1 hot pot choice in Toronto.

Yelp
High end hot pot with excellent service Noodle dance was fun. Dude brought a speaker so he could dance to the music. Fun for the whole table This is a la carte so be careful as they serve larger portions. We ordered like it was a buffet and were stuffed Free dessert ice station was surprisingly good. Loved the boba toppings. Pricey but good. Staff super attentive and even poured a bowl of soup for us.
google avatar

Yelp
I am not a big hot pot person, but came with friends for a meal to catch up. I was impressed by the service, quality of food, and efforts to make the meal interesting. They have a convenient iPad ordering system for all the food, a full bar of sauces to mix your dips, and a small dessert bar in the back for some sweet treats at the end. We of course had to try out the noodle dance, which was entertaining and fun if not a little awkward if you are not used to the attention. We even caught the Chinese opera dance, and several birthday celebrations. All in all, a nice experience for hot pot and I can see why it is so popular and always packed. Reservations definitely recommended

Yelp
Nice hotpot place in Markham, which has very good service. In fact, it could be one of the best places in the area. Servers are very attentive. From ordering, to any extra things you need like soup refills, aprons, drinks, removing empty dishes, etc., all give patrons a very good dining experience. It is not AYCE but an à la carte hotpot restaurant, which I find better off. Higher quality food, less stressful, and a more enjoyable dinner rather than rushing through the meal under a time limit. Mini shows like hand-pulled noodle demos available randomly. I don't dislike them but I am not too interested in these "shows", neither to the kids around me like watching any. Perhaps, people who have not seen before might find it entertaining. Somewhat similar to those teppanyaki shows in Japanese restaurants. Overall, a good à la carte hotpot place with good meat quality at a reasonable price. Recommended!

Yelp
Great spot with somewhat limited parking if you come during busy hours. Service is, as usual for Haidilao, 5 stars and very very good. Food is always fresh, and the sauce bar is always stocked and both the restaurant & restrooms are clean. It could be a bit expensive if you do the whole enchilada including alcohol but well worth the expense if you're celebrating. Always make a reservation ahead of time and your wait time will be short.

Yelp
My niece was craving hot pot and recommended we go to Haidilao. This chain has s few locations. We opted for the one in Markham. We arrived at 4 pm and it was alteady PACKED. Good thing she made a reservation. Rather than go a la carte our waitress recommended the 3 person combo ($80). The only extras we chose was a half order of beef and an extra noodle. We chose the pork bone, mushroom, and spicy broths. Mushroom broth was particularly good. We received beef, pork, and lamb for protein. As well as three trays loaded with cabbage, lettuce, sweet potato noodle, tripe, etc. Quality of ingredients was excellent. At the end we were stuffed. They also had a special discount applied to our bill for finishing within a time slot. Total cost was $90. Our waitress and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall well worth a visit if hot pot is your craving.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 10/5-exceptional Ambience 5/5-great for families A second visit in six months and the service continues to be as attentive, thus the 10/5 for service if that is possible, friendly and efficient as our first visit. Servers came by without us asking and automatically refilled both broth dishes. We had the lunch combo again with the Pork Bone Broth and Sukiyaki for the second broth. We both preferred the Pork Bone broth. The Sukiyaki was a bit sweet. Once again we had an entire tray leftover and brought it home. We will return again to try the other choices.

Yelp
Always passed by Haidilao but never had a chance to try it out. Friends took me out on my birthday and now I understood what's the hype behind Haidilao! Their service was so thoughtful and attentive. There were hot brewed flower teas for customers waiting in line. Staff also periodically handed out snacks to those waiting. Our group were seated at the booth and we were impressed by all the small details they put in for their customers such as having compartments at the seats for customers coats, the 2-tier shelves for the food to save table spaces, the quadruple soup base option, the mask changing show and the complimentary manicure service, hair ties for ladies with long hair and aprons everyone! Even their bathroom has so many amenities and a lowered sink for little ones. Food was fresh, and portion was decent for the price. I appreciated the different meat options. Love that we got to drink the pork bone soup base and pork tripe & chicken soup base before cooking our food. Because both of them were so flavorful. The noodles were delicious and served with a noodle dancing show which was quite fun. I enjoyed my first experience so much that I brought my son to celebrate his birthday here. He loved the mask changing show and the noodle dance. Also got a free "beef cake" too. I can't say enough good things about the place. It's a great place for hot pot for families. Oh and don't forget about the secret codes for freebies ;)

Yelp
Might possibly be the best hotpot place in Toronto. Service was 10/10, super attentive and considerate. Our waitress kept coming by to clean our empty plates, fill our water cups, scoop out the oil in the broth. I haven't experienced such nice service in a LONG time. ( se had a table of 12!) The place is also bright, clean and it seemed like everyone was having a great time there. The noodle dance was pretty entertaining as well has the birthday song they sing to you. All the ingredients for the hotpot were high quality and plated nicely and the soup base was amazing! LOVE the tomato broth! Would definitely come again, also beef was only $3.00 after 9pm.
google avatar

Gabriel S.

Yelp
What a difference covid made! Now you get the full Haidilao experience, including manicure, popcorn, drinks - and a long wait. The birthday song (with staff coming by with LED signs & a speaker) & dancing noodle men are still there of course. But the changing face man was still nowhere to be seen. This place is good for people with small appetites, since it's not all you can eat (though you may not end up paying less). Ingredient quality is pretty good, though not markedly better than many places. Service is definitely better than at most Asian places. Had the tomato and milk mala broth. The former was pretty tasty. The latter was really really spicy - beyond medium & into hot territory. They're quite innovative, rotating sauce bar (which is chargeable) items & soup bases.
google avatar

Winnie H.

Yelp
Never thought going to hotpot is so much fun. Soup based is very good. I chose tomato and pork bone soup. Both are very yummy and can take out after you are done. There is sauce and fruit station as ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT can eat. At end of the meal, they offer ice cream. If you know secret question, like is there golden pillow? They will give you free deep fry bun. The service is very very good and attentive. I have line up for manicure. Yes it's free. Senior get a gift and birthday get birthday song and a slice of milk creamy cake. I heard there is baby sitting too The place is casual and there is dance performance and traditional Chinese change mask show. It very entertaining and good for different group of people. Will visit again

Yelp
A bougie hot pot restaurant that has impeccable service. Haidilao is one of those super popular hot pot restaurants with a long wait all the time. It's a popular chain in Asia best known for their services like free manicures while you wait for your table. Their service is also very attentive and their waiters/ waitresses are always keeping your tables clean and cleared. It's pay per dish and not all you can eat. If you know the secret codes spoken in canto/mando, you can get free toys/ gifts from the servers. Onto the food now: There's a self serve sauce bar that has all the fixings you'd like. Soup base you can choose either 1, 2 or 4 different bases. Soup bases 4/5 - Tomato is a must get and is delicious. Spicy is the numbing spice and is quite delicious if you can handle it. Sukiyaki was great and a sweet touch which was different for the palette. Coconut was my least favourite as I thought it lacked flavour. Wagyu beef 5/5 - It's expensive and comes with 5 slices of beef. However you get what you pay for. It's absolutely melt in your mouth, buttery goodness. Seafood platter 4/5 - Comes in an assortment of seafood like abalone, scallop, shrimp, and cuttlefish. Bean curd rolls 5/5 - Can't go wrong with this. Always so delicious Konjac noodles 5/5 - A cheap low calorie item if you're looking for something to fill you Regular beef 5/5 - Still a good option if you don't want the wagyu. There's lots of hot pot staples you can find here on the menu. Since raw ingredients are pretty standard from restaurant to restaurant, I think the review is mostly on the soup base and service which is fantastic.

Yelp
A well-liked bougie hotpot restaurant that is not all-you-can-eat and we came to discover why it was one of the highly praised restaurants. Haidilao is a very super well-known chain all over the world with locations in Asia, US, UK, and Canada! They are known for their excellent customer service, as well as their complimentary manicures and hand massages, and the "secret codes" to get more freebies during your visit. We ordered the classic lunch combo for only $19.99, which includes the soup base, choice of protein, a tray of veggies and fish balls, choice of "carbs" - hand-pulled noodles or rice or seasonal dessert, and a can of pop! Since I came with my mom, we ordered the lunch combo for 2 ($39.99) and you get the same thing as the combo for one but doubled the quantity. Soup base- we ordered the oat milk soup and the mushroom soup. The oat milk was very interesting as it tasted more like a regular soup that's packed with flavours of herbs but it did not have a milky texture so don't get repelled by the thought of cooking in the milk. The mushroom soup was a bit disappointing as it was quite watery and lack of flavour. Protein- we picked their house-special spicy lamb and fish filet. The spicy lamb was tender and the marination had a good amount of spicy without overpowering the gamey taste of the lamb. The fish filet was not mushy and retained its texture after its been cooked. There's a hidden drawer beside your table where you can find extra chopsticks, napkins, wet wipes, hair ties for those who have long hair, breath mint for a fresh taste after a savoury meal, and also wipes for glasses. The special codes are still VALID but you can only use ONE CODE PER TABLE.
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
I'm actually not a hot pot fan since I don't really like to eat a lot of meat or fish balls etc. but I do enjoy going to Haidilao! They are always known for their excellent customer service and it did not disappoint. Recommendations: The tomato soup base is very flavourful. I also like getting the kids combo which has a little bit of everything. It has a serving of noodles, vegetables, spam, crabmeat (my personal fav lol), quail eggs and fish. If you are able to go during weekdays when they have their lunch combo ($20/pp) - that's also a great deal as well. The price includes a soup base, condiment fee, a rice/noodle, a meat of your choice and a misc. platter of vegetables and other hotpot items.

Yelp
The service was good and the food quality was good too but i didn't like how the secret codes for things you were only able to get one. If u say the message for soup base its not like everyone get one but only 1 message for the whole table. From other promo videos ive seen each person gets something or everyone gets to say on message of their own... I like how they have the discount for completing ur meal under certain time

De Z.

Yelp
Excellent service. We got the mushroom and pork base for soup. Food was great. Thank you Cici and Marvis.

Very friendly service and fresh and reasonable choice of ingredients. Spacious and clean environment. But busy restaurant and reservations are recommended.

Yelp
I'm purely reviewing Haidilao for their lunch special. It's incredible value at $21.95 (used to be 19.95 but even at the new price, the value is really great). You get choice of soup, a plate of protein (usually beef for me), a tray of assorted veggies and fish balls, choice of rice/noodles, a drink, and also access to the appetizer bar and dessert bar, + ice cream at the very end. The amount of food included is just incredible and as always, the service is excellent. Honestly I can never come back for dinner again, knowing that lunch is such incredible value. It's also very easy to make a reservation through Google (and they sometimes get quite busy at lunch). Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Visited this location on a late night dinner on Saturday at 11pm. I made reservations for six people online and it was a pleasure receiving text message updates and reminders about the reservation. I booked the online reservations about 3 days before the day, so having the reminder messages was great! And the automated message asked me to confirm or to cancel the reservation. Upon arriving to the restaurant I was greeted immediately and advised I was there 6 guest reservation at 11pm. We had to wait a few minutes for the table to be cleared, but we did arrive about 16 mins early so it was fine. We hung out at the waiting area and they had some tortilla chips, grapes, prune juice, orange juice and brown sugar water available for consumption. The a Self serve waiting area was a bit dirty and not too well maintained. I only consumed the orange juice. While waiting for our table to be ready, the hostess provided me with the tablet device and advised we can start placing our order so when we got to our table we can save time. This was a nice gesture and we took a glance but didn't order anything at the time. Shortly after we were brought to our table, the hostess asked if this was our first time at Haidilao, and explained that due to the late dining time they were in the process of closing down one of their three self serve sauce, dessert, snack, fruits area. They also advised on where the washroom location was. The washroom was nicely marked with navigation aids being projected onto the floor, so this was great for those who may get lost in the busy restaurant which I found was a nice touch. We were provided with special bowls prepped with small meats and finely chopped celery and the server used our tomato soup base and served us soup to drink at the beginning of our meal. We then began to order a wide assortment of meats, vegetables, dumplings, noodles for the hot pot dining. Our orders arrived very fresh, and arrived via robots and brought down to our table by our server. The service provided by our server was exceptional. One of my guests spilled some soup on the table when the server wasn't around, and wiped up most of the mess, but the next time our server came to our table she noticed some residual liquids from the spill and promptly cleaned it up. Throughout our evening, our glasses of water were constantly being refilled, our soup bases on our hot pots refilled, and all empty food dishes were promptly and when I say promptly it was very promptly removed from our table. We indulged in some fun and games and tried some of the secret codes like we are all kids, I like your soup base, I like your snacks, I'm a fairy, and said it's my birthday. And we're provided with free soup bases, toys, snacks and a fun and positive birthday celebration with free cupcake! At the end of the evening, our party was throughly impressed with our late night dining and thanked our server both verbally and thru a handsome and generous tip. Thank you so much for the delightful evening!

Yelp
First time doing hot pot so I really didnt know what to do or what to expect. Glad we had an experienced couple in our group of 6. The service and attentiveness was excellent. The place is rather large, well lit and very clean. Food was good and the kids really enjoyed cooking their own food. The DIY (with recipe/instructions) sauce making station was cool. The DIY dessert station was also something new to us. Where it fell a star short was in the value for your money. Our a-la-cart lunch averaged out to $45pp which included an 18% tip and no tax. Seemed a bit steep for the amount of food we received. For that price, and ayce would be the way to go instead.

Yelp
fresh food. Great variety. priced reasonably for the food and the quality. soup bases were flavourful. got the tomato and the pork bone for cleaner flavours. tomato was sweeter side but added acidity from the tomatoes. they have AYCE dessert bar with jellies and popping boba The servers JP and Ceci was really great. Fun atmosphere. It was my nephew's birthday and they made him really happy with the cheerful singing and the party hat (he's only 5 lol). We started with the Chinese version, but he didnt seem to know what they were saying and the host was nice enough to sing again in English. My niece was also envious of the party hat so they gave her one too! It was a fun experience for all.

Yelp
What's good about this place is that the hot pot has lots of soup base variety and not too oily or greasy like the ones back home. Meat and veggies are fresh, a la cart style. You can request birthday celebration and tik tok dances

Yelp
Hot pot is not my cup of tea. But unfortunately someone decided on this joint for the Mother's Day weekend. Parking is freakin' horrendous. Good luck to you on a Friday eve or a weekend. Food-wise was okay. You might say 5 out of 5, if you like this type of dining experience, meaning hot pot. I don't, so I might be biased. It's noisy, so don't bother with this place if you want quiet - And the restaurant is huge in terms of the size inside. Service-wise, gets a full mark. Very attentive and courteous.

Yelp
Insane service, I've never experienced anything like this. Great food, great sauce bar. The dessert bar could be better but everything else makes up for it. The ladies washroom has pads, hair combs, hair dryer, mouth wash. It's a great place to hangout and eat!

Yelp
I came here for a birthday celebration, and the environment here is very overwhelming and very stimulating, but fun! It is a unique experience that I would recommend everyone to try at least once if they are a fan of hotpot. I will say, the food is quite expensive, especially since the dishes can rack up really fast, but the quality of food is really good for what it is worth. The sauce section is $3.99 but is included in the base price for everyone already. For us, we got four soup bases to try, which is really good and not restrictive. There are secret codes you can say to the waiters, and you will be able to get something that is considered hidden from the main menu. I suggest looking up a list of the codes you can say!

Yelp
I came here for a special occasion. I found the service to be very attentive. The food here was also very fresh. I really enjoyed the noodle show, it was quite entertaining. They were so detailed oriented including giving you a hair tie for your hair before eating. Your water was always full and never empty. The restaurant is set up in booths, you get enough privacy from other tables and get to have conversations with your friends or family at your table easily. I definitely will come back here as my experience was a good one.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Came here for my toddlers 2nd birthday. It was my first time here, but mr. Tran has been here couple times before. We were able to make reservations for 5pm, which was not very busy yet when scoping the place. Our waitress was very attentive and quick to serve us and helped us scoop out the scum from the broth, got us extra bowls, hair ties and provided cute aprons for us including my toddler (a very thought out hot pot experience). For the sauce area you had to walk and serve yourself; they had plenty of sauces for you to choose from and they even have fruits and cold appetizers as well. Ordering was from an iPad, which was pretty simple and straight forward, it even calculates the bill for you in case you go overboard and might need to reconsider what you want to order next. Prices seem fair, and it can get pricey depending on what you get (wagyu or sea cucumber stomach $$$). Quality of food is fresh and there are a lot of varieties to choose from. We got Chinese ice cream bar at the end of the meal which was nice, it reminded me of the banana popsicle when I was a kid. I did find a piece of hair in my tomato when I was eating it and told the manager, she was able to offer us 20% off the bill which was very nice of her. Upon walking out of the restaurant, it got busy and people were waiting to be seated. Just as you're walking out, you can see a manicurist doing someones nail while waiting to be seated.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I went to grad school at USC with a mainly Chinese cohort and many of my classmates talked nonstop about Haidilao. So when I got to Toronto and saw they had a couple I knew I had to tap in. I was immediately happy to see most of the clientele were Chinese so I knew I was in a good spot that would be authentic. We ordered pork belly, shrimp and a variety of other meats. Went with the Spicy Base and the mild base. I definitely do not recommend going with the Spicy base. It is hot as all hell and I was legitimately almost dying by the end of the night. My stomach was upset as well, but that's a skill issue on my part. The service was so attentive and fast, you felt like royalty. I had never seen robot servers before that would come bring you food to your table. Honestly just an otherworldly experience and I can't wait to be back. Since it was my birthday, the staff sang happy birthday, gave me custom chopsticks and free ice cream. Really a nice experience that made my day.

Yelp
Location/Service This place is a bit east of Highway 7 and McCowan - within a plaza that also have Congee Queen. The sign is very easy to spot so you can't miss it. The parking lot during peak hours is packed - so best if you can carpool or else it will be tricky as there are not other convenient lots nearby. Inside is pretty big and spacious with bright lightning and high ceilings. There is a central area where you pick up sauces. And there are individual private rooms if you have a large party. Food Although this place is hot pot, it is not AYCE. Definitely review the menu thoroughly to see which soup base and food items you want to order. The staff are very nice and informative to answer any questions you have. I got a Laksa and Pork Bone soup base - both are very distinct and different, so contrasting taste as you cook the food. As for the food, definitely try their signature items like marinated beef, basa fish, beef/lamb slices, and some of their assorted seafood items. Their fish/meat balls are pretty unique as well. If you are celebrating a birthday, they come by with a sign and sing happy b-day for you. They also have a little noodle show if you pay for spinach noodles (I believe) and they also have a face mask show that's pretty interesting. Overall a very family oriented place - very good service and nice selection of food choices. Although it's a la carte, you do get full and price overall is pretty standard.

Yelp
Not usually the type of person who likes going out for hot pot since it can be easily done at home but this place is worth raving about. We made reservations for two people and we're seated quickly upon arrival. Immediately after being seated our server was here to acknowledge and assist us. The hospitality here is above standards. Staff are very friendly and they even give out freebies if you say certain phrases to them (can easily find on Google). Don't even get me started on their washrooms. Firstly, its clean and secondly they have literally everything you need from menstrual pads, to hair comb, to hairdryer to mouthwash. Their lunch meal only costs $20 and for the amount of food you get, along with a complimentary popsicle or ice cream, I consider it a great deal.

Yelp
Definitely a new experience to eating Hot Pot! I'm still not too clear on all the complimentary perks like when they offer free manicure. First time here recently for lunch and we got the $19.95 lunch special per person which is a really good deal. Each person get a tray of veggies and you choose one meat dish. You can also choose your own soup base and I got the mushroom soup. I was really impressed when our server asked us if we wanted the shrimps peeled and if we wanted the heads intact or not...wow, that's real service! Overall, excellent service, great food and atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is at current one of the better hot pot shops in Toronto. There is a nail station you can take advantage of while waiting for your table. A beverage bar with 3 cool drinks and an espresso machine to perk up after a long day out before your hot pot experience The ordering system is all electronic with many pictures to see what you are ordering and soon to enjoy The delivery system is electronic via robots There is a large self selected dipping sauce station to customize to your enjoyment along with some fresh fruits, snacks (if your friends run late and don't want to just sit there twiddling your thumbs) and 2 cold dessert selections. There is complimentary ice cream at the end so leave room to indulge

Yelp
I am, without a doubt, OBSESSED with this place. The staff are all super friendly and treated us very well, on multiple occasions, and they were very quick to bring out the bases and the dishes. There are quite a few bases to choose from, I personally like the Tom Yum and the Oat Milk ones (the oat milk might be a seasonal one though), and you can customize certain bases. For example, the spice level on the Spicy Soup bases and the amount of numbing in it. The individual dishes themselves are also quite good, and as someone who doesn't eat a lot, I appreciate the fact that this is not an all you can eat place. There were three side bars in the restaurant, to make your own dipping sauces/sides, and the restaurant itself has a very friendly atmosphere to it. I genuinely believe this is the best hot pot place in the GTA and would go there every week if I could. p.s. Get the spicy soup base and the oat milk base together, definitely a good combo (especially if your spice tolerance is on the lower end XD)

Yelp
Amazing hot pot experience - friendly staff, quick serivce & lots of variety! This place does get super busy so best to make a reservation especially if you are coming in a larger group! They provide disposable hand wipes, a glasses lens wipe, hair tie, and apron which is nice to keep all your personal belonging clean. All food is brought out with a robot server, which my mom loved. Will need to come back to try more items on their menu!

Yelp
My first time at Haidilao but have heard great things. I booked our table for a bday two weeks in advance and I'm glad I did! Our reservation was for 5:30pm and it was completely packed with the line up out the door. We waited about 10 mins for our table and were given snacks and toys for the kids. When we did get our table, our server Annie was great, very attentive explaining how everything worked. Keep in mind this is a la carte so you can rack up a hefty bill pretty quickly. You pay $3.99 per person for the sauce and dessert bar which the kids enjoyed. I'd say budget for $200 for 3 adults. Food quality was good and we enjoyed the mask changing show and noodle dance.

Yelp
I've been here twice so far and have loved it. I've always heard about Haidilao's service especially at locations in China. I have never felt so pampered at a restaurant in Canada before. The place is a la carte and expensive but given the amazing service, I think it's worth it. I've tried the mushroom, pork bone and spicy (filtered) broths. I like that they offer the filtered spicy broth as it comes without any of the peppers / other spicy mala bombs floating in the broth. Warning: It is quite spicy and mala! I personally prefer non-spicy broths because I don't eat spicy (my Chinese genes skipped that trait) so I quite liked the mushroom one. My friends/family who like spicy have said that the spicy broth is very good. The pork bone one actually comes with giant pork bones that you can gnaw on. You can ask the staff for plastic gloves. You place your orders on the iPad. For food, I like to get the typical hotpot selection which is all good here. Some highlights are their deep fried buns (炸馒头) with condensed milk, shrimp paste and their freshly hand pulled noodles. Where Haidilao shines is the service. They give you hair ties and aprons. You're checked up on frequently, there's never any trouble waving people down. The robots serving food are very cute to look at. There's a nespresso in the waiting area that my friends took advantage of before we left the restaurant. The noodle dance is a fun thing to get and watch, they ask if you want music to be played during the performance and you can tell them how thick/thin you want the noodles. They also squeeze in the shrimp paste into the hotpot for you (ask them to do it, it's easier than doing it yourself). Lastly, I have to comment on the bathrooms. I think it's adorable they offer a child size sink as well as mouthwash , combs, cotton swabs, and even a hair dryer (in case you dunked your head into the hotpot). I was also confused why there was a plushie inside the bathroom stalls but it turns out they keep pads in there in case if your time of the month! I wish every restaurant did this - would be a giant win for women everywhere.

Yelp
his place has been on my radar for a while and I'm so glad I got the chance to finally try it! I was quite impressed with the quality of the food for hot pot. This place does a la carte rather than AYCE but I really liked this option since I don't feel like I have to stuff myself (although I ended up ordering a Variety of foods in the end I did have to stuff myself a bit lol We tried a number of foods on their menu and overall I was really impressed with how fresh everything is! The meat was thinly sliced to perfection, the dumplings were one of my favorites, their shrimp paste was delish, shrimp was super large and beautiful texture, the broths were amazing as well - we tried 4 different ones - pork bone, laksa, mala and tomato. All four were amazing! They also offer you blanket if you're cold, place to store jacket, aprons so that you won't spatter and overall very friendly service from the staff offering to devein our shrimp and even offered to cook (if we wanted to but we were okay on our own). They also have a huge sauce station which has everything imaginable as well. I did use some but I must admit with al the 4 bases we had I really didn't have to use much of the sauces! All in all a lovely experience and if you want a good quality hot pot experience, definitely check them out!

Yelp
Food was not impressive. We ordered a beef dish and it tasted rancid and returned it. The sukiyaki soup base was tooooo sweet and Tom yum was toooo spicy. Will never return.
