Haidilao Review - South Loop - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Haidilao in the South Loop is a Chinese hot pot chain famous for its robot servers and noodle dancers. And while robots beep-booping around the dining room with trays of sliced ribeye and servers whipping long, fresh noodles around the table are neat, they’re not the main reason you should come here. That would be the food, which is quite good. Haidilao has an extensive menu, with nine soup bases to choose from—and you can get up to four. There’s also a long list of options like shrimp paste stuffed with salted duck egg, omasum, boneless duck feet, and various other fun things that are begging to be dunked into boiling broth. Unsurprisingly, the condiment bar is equally robust. It has snacks like little fruit leathers that act as great palate cleansers between spicy bits. Also worth noting is that Haidilao accepts reservations, and will give you free soft serve at the end of your meal." - Adrian Kane

My sister and I took my fiancé here for his first hotpot experience, as it had to be Haidilao! They are the best in terms of their customer service, food quality and options offered. I always recommend getting a reservation as every location gets pretty packed! The customer service is second-to-none here. They constantly gave us extra napkins, top-ups of our broths and lemon tea, and all of the service was kind and prompt. The restaurant itself is clean, well-designed and has additional amenities provided in the bathrooms. They also have restaurant-wide karaoke that you can sing to win free food! We opted for the 4-quarter pot, with three Haidilao broths (Laksa, Tom Yom, and Sukiyaki), with the fourth being water that we used to customize our own broth (using ingredients from the sauce bar). We made soy sauce-based and peanut sauce-based sauces (with some green onions, sesame oil and garlic) for dipping. All were delicious! They have a slew of recipes you can follow at the sauce bar and some snacks you can grab. We ordered a bunch of items including the various fatty beefs (plain and marinated varieties), the Wagyu Beef, a variety of seafood (mussels, squid, clams, prawns) and veggies (spinach, enoki mushrooms). Near the end of the meal we got some udon noodles and their signature Dancing Noodle. The beef quality was all consistently amazing, and the wagyu just melt-in-the-mouth. The seafood and veggies were all fresh, and the broths were all superb. The noodles were amazingly delicious, with the Dancing Noodle being out of this world! Perfectly bouncy, chewy and full of flavour from the long-cooking broth. For dessert we got their Dough Buns with Condensed Milk, the Sakura Blossom Dessert, and complimentary soft serve- I got matcha. They were all the perfect sweet treats to end the meal. If you’re looking for a premium, authentic hotpot experience, I always recommend Haidilao. They are the best. Don’t forget to bring some friends or family along!

My friend and I were looking for a hotpot place nearby and randomly found this restaurant. We were a bit skeptical at first because of a bad experience at another hotpot spot in Toronto, but fortunately, we got lucky this time and had a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly, showed us to our table, and explained how their hotpot works. We ordered two types of soup — the pork bone and the Thai tom yum. The dishes are served a la carte, and while the portions felt a bit pricey for the size, everything tasted incredibly fresh and delicious, so it was definitely worth it. The staff were very attentive and thoughtful. They offered us a phone stand when they noticed we were filming and even gave us gloves when they saw we needed to use our hands for some dishes. They also surprised my friend with a small gift for her birthday, which was such a nice touch. And I have to mention the washroom was elite! They even have mouthwash available. The moment we walked in, I honestly thought I was inside a hotel, haha! Overall, we had a great time and will definitely come back during the winter and bring some friends to try it out too!

We came on a busy Thursday night and were seated on the 4th floor. As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we were happily greeted by Grace :) Throughout our meal, she took incredible care of us. Checking in often, making sure our water was always topped up and clearing plates without ever feeling intrusive. At the end of the night, we mentioned we were hoping for a very specific dessert, and she went out of her way to look for it. We also casually mentioned that our dog loves small toys and to our surprise, Grace brought over goodie bags with snacks and a toy for our dog!!! It was such a thoughtful, unexpected gesture. Grace is truly kind, attentive and sweet. We’ve been to many Haidilaos across the GTA and honestly her service made our visit here super memorable, and we will happily come back to this location just because of her. Highly recommend asking for Grace! Thank you Grace!!!!

Service was exceptional! Our server, Jeffrey, was kind and helpful throughout our meal. He kindly prepared us our soups and clearly explained how long to cook the meat, which we really appreciated. There was also a woman who helped us. I didn’t catch her name, but she was just as friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and pleasant. There’s a reason why this place is rated so high, their hospitality is just so good. Would recommend visiting!

Whenever I'm in Toronto, a visit to Haidilao is a must for a satisfying hotpot experience. The quality of the meat is consistently excellent: tender, flavorful, and fresh. There’s a great variety of soup bases to choose from; my current favorites are the pork bone broth and the sukiyaki. For spice lovers, the Mala soup is a bold and fiery choice. One of the highlights is the DIY sauce station, complete with suggestions for popular combinations to help you craft the perfect dip. The service is exceptional. While waiting for a table, I was offered water and a light snack. Aprons are provided for every guest, and they even offer hair ties for those with long hair, such a thoughtful touch. If you visit late at night, keep an eye out for special deals. I dined during the dinner rush and received a 20% discount for finishing within a set time limit, and yes, we made it! To top it all off, they serve complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal. I’m a loyal fan of Haidilao and already looking forward to my next visit!

Google
I love haidilao! They have the best customer service and the food always hits 🤤 the Tom yum soup is the best and comes with shrimp you can eat. They also have fun secret codes you can redeem to get free things. In addition, after 9 PM you can get the sliced beef for 60% off and it is a great deal. And during the day they have a lunch special which is very worth it. Haidilao also has the biggest sauce bar I’ve ever seen with so many sides including fresh fruit and salads. This place is a must try for everyone.

I was so excited to try Hot Pot and I was not disappointed. When we got there we were greeted by a wonderful gentleman that took the time to explain things to us, he also gave us a place to sit that worked well with a small child. We took the time to watch the video explaining the sauce and we were seated. Our server explained how to choose what we wanted and stayed for questions. I had so much fun, our server even took the time to shucked our shrimp, It was so tasty. As a newbie I had not idea what things worked well together when it came to the sauces, but our group was big enough for me to try different mixture. My only complaint was that there was no change table in the washroom. This made it a little difficulty to change my son, but I also didn't ask. There might have been a special room for this. Over all great experience😄

We arrived around 8:40 p.m. and the front desk offered us to stay and wait until 9 p.m. They had a promotion: $3.95 for fine marbled beef after 9 p.m. If you spent over $120, wagyu boneless short rib was $11.95 instead of $54.95. It was worth it! Three of us thought we couldn’t finish everything we ordered and take it out to eat for breakfast before our flight. I had a great experience. Our server, Jing, was very nice and helped us with our orders and drinks. She even surprised us with some souvenirs! I was very happy to see her service. Overall, the experience was great!

Yelp
One of the best hot pot spots in the city! I've been to all the Haidilao locations and can attest to the quality and service is impeccable across all of them! The best deal you can find is their weekday lunch special here for $24 ($3 higher than their Markham or Scarborough locations) where you get a very generous portion--more than enough for lunch. This location fills up surprisingly fast on weekdays. We made a reservation at the opening hour, but there was a slew of people there all ready for lunch too. Within an hour, the surprisingly large restaurant was almost totally full! As always, their food and soup is so delicious. Hands down the best soups you can find at any hot pot or shabu shabu spot. Make sure to say one of the various "secret phrases" for free goodies! My favourite being "ni men de fan qie tang hao hao he" in Mandarin (or "your tomato soup is delicious" in English) for free tomato soup packets to take home!

Yelp
Haidilao Hot Pot offers an unforgettable dining experience. As you step inside, you're greeted by a delightful blend of tradition and modernity. Hot pot, a beloved Chinese culinary tradition, involves simmering raw ingredients in a communal pot of flavorful broth. At Haidilao, this centuries-old practice takes on new life. Haidilao has mastered the art of refinement. From the moment you're welcomed by the host, you'll notice the attention to detail and the quality of service. During your meal, be prepared for delightful surprises. Performances--whether it's noodle-pulling or "mask-change"--add an element of theater. The sauces, a crucial part of hot pot, are customizable to your taste. And the attentive staff ensures your experience is nothing short of exceptional. Enjoy your hot pot adventure at Haidilao!

Yelp
Located in the vibrant core of downtown, right across from the Eaton Centre, Haidilao Hot Pot offers a dining experience that's as bustling as the city itself. Making a reservation is highly recommended as this popular spot fills up quickly. If you are feeling adventurous, you can join the waitlist on Google or Yelp for a chance to dive into the hot pot goodness. My friends and I arrived around 6:45 pm, already on the waitlist. After a brief shopping session at the Eaton Centre, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated after just a short wait of 5 minutes. While waiting, complimentary hot tea and lemonade water kept us refreshed. Seated on the 3rd floor, the service was both attentive and friendly. We opted for three different broth options - tomato base, spicy, and tom yum. The variety of proteins, seafood, and vegetables were all fresh and of high quality. The seasonings bar allowed us to create our own flavour concoctions, and the appetizers and palate cleansers were a delightful touch. The night was not just about the food; it was an entertainment extravaganza. Staff members dressed up as characters, and the lively atmosphere included celebrations for birthdays and even happy break-ups. Before cashing out, I whispered a secret code, earning me a takeaway pouch of the delectable tomato-based soup. They have other secret phrases, but I refrained - no need to risk butchering words and missing out on more delicious surprises. Overall, Haidilao Hot Pot is more than a meal; it is a culinary adventure filled with flavours, fun, and fantastic surprises. Highly recommended for hot pot enthusiasts and anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in downtown Toronto.

Yelp
This is a place that you need to starve yourself a full day to get the most out of, and it is definitely worth it in the end. It's famous for the service, which was incredible at this location. If you have glasses they provide lens cleaning wipes, and if you have long hair they will provide hair ties as well. The iPad ordering system is incredibly convenient and the options are very nice. Tips: Reserve a table ahead of time since there will always be a line. Also be sure to learn some of their special phrases to get free stuff. For example we said 你看我们这桌的小朋友可爱吗 Look! Isn't our table's lil friend cute? (or you can say it about yourself) and they'll give you a toy. You can find phrases for free fruit or sauce etc.

Yelp
Cute setup. Prompt and friendly service. Large portions. Thought out additions - like hair-ties, apron, popcorn snack, complimentary ice cream at the end, offering to peel our prawns for us, etc. Perfect meal idea for the winters and the food, service and vibes stack up - making it absolutely worth it

Yelp
As many people have mentioned, Haidilao service is topnotch: welcoming and knowledgeable staff, spacious and bright interiors, casual and meticulously clean vibe. Hot pot selections are pretty good too. The laksa sauce was thickly delicious though I would have liked the sukiyaki sauce to have just a bit more sweet kick to it. The meats were of good quality, the veggies were fresh. While I'm more used to the all you can eat style of hotpot, this pay what you eat style was ok given Haidilao's reasonable prices. Also, they give free popcorn which was a yummy snack. I'm not hotpot expert but this is a good downtown spot.

Yelp
Coming in we had high expectations after hearing the good reviews about Haidilao. The wait time can be super long for dinner time but you can put your name on the waitlist online. We put our names down for a table around 4:30PM on the weekend and our table was ready around 6:30PM. There were a ton of people waiting for tables. The service was good we were seated quickly when our tables came. Now for the food. We been to many AYCE style hotpot places in the city and we found the meat to be pretty comparable couldn't really tell a big difference. The service was unique, our first time having someone peel our uncooked shrimp at the table. They have little snacks and secret world that would give us freebies. We got the soup base to take home. We ordered the noodle dance but it literally took them an hour to come so we pretty much finished our whole meal and the noodles came at the very end. Overall the food was good but for the price I don't think it's worth it. For two people it was about $150 and we would be happier with AYCE style for half the price.

Yelp
We wanted to come after 9pm on a Sunday to take advantage of their $2.99 beef deal. We joined the Yelp waitlist for a table of 4 around 8:20pm, and were seated about an hour later. As soon as we entered the restaurant, I was impressed by the service that started with the hostess at the door, and extended to each waiter that attended to our table. I've seen similar service in China, so I'm happy to see that the high bar has extended to North America. We opted for 3/4 pork bone and 1/4 laksa broth. Though we focused a lot on the beef, we also ordered an assortment of noodles, veggies, and seafood. If you've never experienced it before, I would order one noodle dance for some entertainment. As a bonus, you get to choose a free dessert (and vanilla ice cream is my favourite). Our meal ended up being around $50 per person. Not cheap, but well worth the food and overall dining experience!

Yelp
Had an amazing experience. First time and our server, Jeffrey helped us with what to do. The food was amazing and the service was even better. A big shout out to Jeffrey. Thank you for making our first experience trying hot pot a great one. PS the happy birthday was a surprise that I didn't expect so thanks for that.

Yelp
Haidilao is the one standing at the pinnacle of hotpot chains- and for good reason. All of their ingredients are very fresh with reasonable portions, the service is prompt, accommodating, and VERY on top of things. It's always loud and boisterous- with servers weaving in between aisles and diners balancing expansive trays of food. The soup bases are delicious too! We tried a "milk broth" soup base, fully expecting it to not be very appetizing- but to our surprise, it had a very balanced flavor! Always come to Haidilao for a good time- just remember to make your reservation well in advance! P.S Look up the Haidilao secret codes. You'll thank me later.

Yelp
We ordered spicy soup base, laksa and pork tripe chicken soup base, all three of them were good. My favorite was laksa. Basa fish was a great choice to dip in different soup. Condiment section was veru impressive. The highlight of this restaurant is the top notch service. They constantly check on your table, listen to your request and tidy up the table for you. Only thing I did not understand was that they don't serve dinner size napkin and there was a little tissue box left on the table instead.

Yelp
Haidilao is the answer to my prayers for good individualized authentic hot pot in Toronto. They can offer four different soup bases in a single pot (see picture), so you don't have to worry about everyone else's preference. We had here two spicy ones and two veg ones, and they met everyone's dietary preferences. Their soup bases were all delicious and unique in their own way, and the meats+veg available are really good too. Their sauces are self served as usual so you can really add and experiment as you wish. The ordering is done primarily on a tablet so it's very quick and easy. If you get the noodle, it comes with a man dancing and twirling the noodle to its full length - a bit of a dinner and a show! One last note here, they seem to have very good ventilation as our clothes did not have too strong lingering scents from the oils. This is a definite plus in my book as this was always a concern in other restaurants (never wearing wool sweaters to hotpot).

Yelp
Make a reservation or you'll end up waiting for at least an hour! This place is busy on both weekdays and weekends evenings. The service here is great - the staff are nice and attentive and the food comes out fast (generally). There were some issues with the beef we ordered (ending up cancelling them as they didn't arrive in over an hour) due to some defrosting issues but I assume this is a one off problem. This place is not all you can eat and can get quite expensive depending on what you order. Expect to spend a minimum of $40 per person and most likely more. Furthermore, soup bases cost money ($25 for the full pot) and sauces as well ($4 each person). I really liked the shrimp paste, Basa fish and meat balls - definitely recommend getting those. There is also a 20% discount if you finish in 60 minutes and a 12% discount if you finish in 90 minutes. Overall, good service but expensive.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't been said, this place is the standard for exceptional service and experience! Have always wanted to try Haidilao but never thought to make the trip out to Markham in order to try it. You'll hear from people time and time again about how good this place is, but until you try it you truly don't understand. Upon entry you are greeted immediately by the hostess. If there is a wait time, you'll add your name and number to an electronic wait list and be notified when the table is available. Upon being brought to your table, you're met with an exceptionally well though-out and intuitive design of seating that features compartments for storage and for all utensils, accompaniments, and freebies your server will be providing you. Our server ran us through the process of ordering and cooling with the hot pot, and our party decided to go with four different soup bases to try each one. Before our meats got to the table, our server provided us with little snacks as well as WIPES FOR GLASSES for my friend with glasses. Never in my life would I have thought a restaurant would provide such a thing. Haidilao is not all you can eat, so you will be ordering ala carte, so you have to be careful how much you end up ordering because you might get fuller than you expect. The meat quality is great, and the soup bases range in taste for any time of taste buds. Overall the experience at Haidilao is one that is perfect for both newcomers to hot pot as well as hotpot lovers alike. With this location now being open downtown, this is a no brainer if you're able to get a table with little to no wait time.

Yelp
Haidilao is of course one of the best places to experience hot pot. The quality is top notch and the service is legendary. We've been to the one in NYC so we were excited to try HDL in downtown Toronto. Located right across from the Eaton Centre, it's a great place to grab a bite after a long day of shopping. This location is pretty small so seating is pretty tight. Parties of more than 4 will feel really cramped (which is my only complaint). As usual, the broths were fantastic and the food was nothing but excellent. The highlight was the hand pulled noodle which is done table side. Prices are what you expect from HDL. Service was good although they were late on some items and forgot our bday requests (understandable since it was really busy). Overall another great experience but I do wish the sauce bar and location were slightly bigger but I'm guessing that space in downtown Toronto is pretty limited. Thumbs up still.

Yelp
Service is absolutely fantastic - very attentive, kind, and funny staff available to all who come in. If you're looking for a calm ambiance to your night, then this restaurant might not be for you, as the place is bustling with good spirits, conversation, and working waiters/waitresses. That being said, this joint has a fun, festive vibe to it, and the food is delicious. Spicy or mild, you decide the punch to your flavorful broth(s), as well as the fixings you'd like to cook for the night. Reservation or not, you'll get in fairly quickly. I can't recommend this place more for tourists and locals alike. It was a great experience that all should come experience at least once.
google avatar

Yelp
AMAZING. Western restaurants gotta take a page from asias book and pamper the customers like this. There was mouthwash in the bathroom. There were glasses lens wipes. You get fed broth assembled by the waitstaff. You can basically eat a whole meal just from the sauce station. I hotpot and this was the best experience ever.

Yelp
Awesome experience! I love their service, very accommodating and attentive. The place is clean and organized. I love their food, we ordered mostly meat, took some fruits from the buffet, made 2 of sauce and their soup base is awesome!! I love it! This is one of the places I can recommend

Yelp
A fantastic experience for hotpot. The service is top notch, they gave us so many great tips, helped us with refilling food and poured water for us. Truly it's worth it just for the service. The food was amazing and its easy to go overboard. We definitely ordered too much and stuffed ourselves. Pace yourself as you can order throughout the night. My favourite were the beef and pork selections and the shrimp paste. Warning!!! The spicy soup bases are SPICY. Like numb your tongue and give you a stomachache spicy. But I have no regrets.
google avatar

Kai-Wen L.

Yelp
This restaurant was newly opened downtown. We ordered spicy and pepper pork broth pots. The spicy one is really...spicy. I mean the real spicy for Chinese or Korean. I'm Taiwanese and I think that is too hot for me, so you know that's a legit one. tbh, the food wasn't bad, but it was pretty pricy. I should've given it only 3 stars; however, the service was really great! The servers were polite and always add more soup to the pot when it needed. I think I'll go back in the future

Yelp
I always like Haidilao, even back in China. In China my hometown, honestly their food is not top tier and their price is relatively high, but they are so famous for their impeccable service that people love them regardless. This is my first time come to Haililao in Toronto. Last time I went with a group of friends (8+) people to Haililao in San Jose, California and it was okish but nothing too memorable. That was also my last time there in California. This time I went for their workday lunch special with a colleague. Their workday special is $23.95 for one including meat, combo platter, soft drink, soup base, side dish and noodle/rice, which is more than enough for us. Their side dish is unlimited, which means you can mix and match your sauce or anything on the sauce section that are not sauce, and typically includes various fruits, porridge, snacks like roasted peanuts or seaweeds, and light dessert. The food are all fresh and as usual, the service is one of the best things about them (some may even argue it's too much). Besides everything we got in our lunch special, we also had soup before meal and candies and ice cream afterwards, all free of charge. We finished about 50-60% of our individual combo and are all stuffed. $23.95 for all these is honestly such a good deal. I will def go again, alone or with friends, just for their lunch special. And yes there is a short line on Friday around 2pm but it just takes ~3 min for us (2 people) to get a seat, which is basically nothing.

Yelp
Clean and spacious spot, tasty options and amazing service. Gina was friendly and attentive, she went the extra mile to serve our table. We went with four different soup options recommended to us and it was the perfect variety of savory, sweet, tart and spicy. On this day, they were running a special on the beef brisket for 2.99, what a deal! This alone made the meal super reasonably priced. The sauce station had everything you could possibly think of and the fruits were sweet and fresh. I especially impressed with the bathroom which was stocked with toiletries like it was a hotel. I wish they had locations in the states!

Yelp
Maybe this place is so new I couldn't find it on Yelp? I've been to many, many different hotpot places, and it's rare that I'm literally shocked at how great a hotpot restaurant is, until today. Located across the CF Toronto Eaton Centre mall, you're greeted warmly when you first enter. The wait staff will fawn all over you while you get seated: putting your jacket away in a drawer under the seat to reduce the chance of your jacket smelling like hotpot for days on end, putting your mask away in a ziplock bag so you won't be smelling hotpot on the way out, and then getting you a fruit plate while you peruse the menu on an iPad. You can choose up to 4 different flavored broths, and order at your leisurely pace. Everything was fresh, everything was good, the sauce bar is filled with large selection of sauces and ingredients, plus desserts. Meat selection is good and tastes as good as Happy Lamb meats, which is my go-to benchmark. Service was absolutely the highlight: I have never wanted to go back to a restaurant as much as I do this particular Haidilao. The level of fawning can be a little overwhelming but holy smokes it felt GOOD to be a customer.

Yelp
This place is fun for group dining. We were offered a private room for a group of 7. Staffs were very attentive. Our group had a lot of different diet restrictions and there seem to be something for everyone. They do additional charge for the condiment bar which I thought was odd. Not everyone uses the sauce bar so we were a little bummed out when we saw that they charged all of us for the sauce (found out later that if one person uses the condiment bar, the whole party will be charged as well). Why nickel and dime customers when condiments are essential to hotpot?
google avatar

Maya L.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this hot pot place, excited they opened a location downtown. We got the classic spicy soup base and the tomato soup base. I enjoyed both soups, the classic base is savoury and spicy, the tomato base is light and refreshing. We ordered a variety of meats, seafood, veggies and etc. some of my favourites were the yam vermicelli, sliced beef brisket and their signature Lao mein. I was really impressed with their service, they provided aprons, hair ties, coat services, and a variety of amenities in the bathroom. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place, it was a very enjoyable dinning experience.

Yelp
My daughter and I were in Toronto last weekend and were looking for something different to eat for dinner. Well we found the right spot. We had been wanting to try Hot Pots for some time now and we finally had the chance. Unbeknownst to us, you have to make reservations in advance. Once we arrived our names were added to a waiting list and we only waited about 10 mins. My daughter loved that you can try their free snacks in the waiting area. Once we were called, the hostess directed us to an elevator where she advised us that we'd meet another hostess in the 3rd floor. When we arrived on the 3rd floor, another friendly hostess showed us to our table. Our waitress greeted us at the table where she asked us if we've been to a hot pot establishment before. We informed her that this was our first time and she took the time to thoroughly explain how it all works. I must admit, this dining experience was a little confusing at first but once we settled in and ordered, we got the hang of it all. You order everything from the broth to your proteins & veggies using their table. Word of advice if you don't have a large party, I would suggest to order 2 liquids for your steamer. Get one broth and the other one water (to cut down on cost). We ordered pork broth for steamer and water in the other at no cost. For our protein, we ordered slices pork neck and chicken. We also ordered noodles and a mushroom assortment of vegetables. Because this was our first time, our server took the liberty of putting together ingredients from the sauce bar. She instructed us on how long to cook each food item for. The sauce complimented our entire meal very well. This is a very place to go to as a date night, or celebrating a friend's /family's birthday, girls night out or to hang out with friends/colleagues. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you're in Toronto. My daughter is a k-pop stan so she really enjoyed the experience and the music that was playing during dinner. Can't wait to try this chain near me if they decide to open another location. If you are into this type of experience where you have to cook your own food, then you'll love this place. I give it an 8/10.

Yelp
Came to downtown Toronto Haidilao for their soft opening. It was super busy and my friend and I had to wait about 40 minutes before being seated. Luckily we are next to Eaton Centre so we were able to shop before dinner. It seems they have multiple levels in the restaurant. We were seated on one of the upper levels. First thing is that their service is amazing. Everyone is nice, the server was super attentive to our table, and the workers kept refilling the sauce bar constantly. I thought everything tasted pretty fresh and was good. We did two 1/4 soups - tomato and mushroom which is what was recommended by the server for two people. I wanted badly to try the fresh pulled noodles where they do it in front of you but I couldn't find it on the menu. Perhaps due to the soft opening. I will be back to try Haidilao again but I would probably go with a group of friends next time. If you're eating with just another person but you want variety, it ends up costing too much for just 2 people. I took off 1 star because I didn't expect to pay an additional fee (3.99) for the sauce bar. Most places its just part of the meal but not sure if it's because it's a la carte? Also we ordered cuttlefish balls but they brought us fish tofu and we didn't notice until later which is our fault for not saying anything but not sure how that mix up happened!

Yelp
First time here and it was amazing. Lots of food variety. I chose two soup bases - mushroom and pork bone and enjoyed both. Ordered the surf and turf and a few additional dishes. The surf and turf was a great choice and was delicious. Great service. Also liked that they offered ice cream at the end.

Yelp
I really love the tomato broth. It's definitely the best tomato broth I ever had in my life. The service is 10/10 I felt so comfortable and ALL of the employees are super nice. Inside the restaurant is clean and organized. It is a bit pricey, I would definitely go here again for special occasions. When you order the hand pull noodles you also receive an entertaining show. Just be aware that it is not all you can eat. They also accept card and I really like that.

Yelp
Service with Jing was excellent. She took a lot of initiative and checked in. Quantity of food was great

Yelp
i think the food and broths themselves are average for how pricey this place is compared to more low key spots. the service is really really attentive but imo that not super important since i'm usually busy yapping with my friends anyway.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday with a group of friends. There's not much to say other than the fact the food and service were excellent. I heard many great things about Haidilao and I can understand why since I got to experience it myself. It was my friends and I first time at Haidilao and the servers were very attentive to our allergies and gave us suggestions on things to try.

Yelp
Food tastes good. Also the deal for the special weekdays afternoon is really worth it.

Yelp
很好吃! We went because we love hot pot! I have to say out of all the hot pot places I've been to and all the Haidilao locations I've been to, this one has to be the absolute best! The food came out quick, the sauce bar is well managed, it's very clean, and the service is excellent! I don't think my water cup was every empty and the soup was always full! The servers were very attentive and always there! Zack did an amazing job and was super nice! I highly highly recommend this place because I've never had a tastier and such a great experience at hot pot!

Yelp
Food was so delicious. Bill often ends up being expensive but definitely worth it. There are so many soup bases to try and you can make your own sauce too. Will be returning

Yelp
As newcomers to Canada, we celebrated Christmas the best way we knew how and went to Asian hotpot. We were overwhelmed by all the choices on the menu but stuck to the staples; an order of beef, an order of shrimp, their vegetable platter and mushroom platter. We asked for tom yum and mushroom as the soup base but a tip we learned is to ask for the four soup bases to maximize your hotpot experience. When the mushroom platter came out we realized that it has all the same mushrooms as the vegetable platter and asked the waitress if we could return it without the extra charge, she had said it was no problem which was great! At some point in the meal a table next to us ordered the famous hand pulled noodles and we were treated to a show of culinary prowess. At the end of the meal we were given a little candy cane bag of sweets and snacks as it was Christmas day. Great value for money and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Nice place to experience hot pot. Only issue is too crowded during CNY time. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I'm in love with haidilao! I went to the Scarborough location a few times before they opened one in Downtown, and I've been going ever since! The service is excellent, but not as good as in the other locations. But this isn't such a big deal because they've only recently opened and the service is already fantastic! You wouldn't notice unless you've visited the other locations. The food quality is still spectacular!

Yelp

Yelp
Great service. Pretty good place to meet up with friends. But it's a bit on the pricey side for hot pot. And the restaurant locations usually are close to prime downtown locations

Yelp
Oh my what an incredible experience here! This is by far one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant, everything was so nice, clean, and the staff was very attentive. Haidilao was very hospitable, when we first walked in we were greeted by the host and was told to wait in the waiting area, they offered us snacks and tea and coffee, apparently at other locations you can receive complimentary massages or get your nails done while you wait for your table, that alone is just an amazing concept to customer care. We were walked up to the 3rd floor to our seats and they sat us down, gave us some fruits and some appetizer soups and proceeded to dawn on our aprons, I was just blown away by this. After ordering on the tablet the server offered to make our dipping sauce for us (I have never been offered that before) but we ended up making our own and they even have house recipes to follow to make dipping sauces. The food came promptly and was very well presented. The quality of their meat and seafood was excellent, it was freshly made out of the highest quality ingredients. While we were eating about every 15mins or so a server would scoop the excess oil and meat from our soups to provide the best taste possible and during that time they never let our water cup go empty. It was just an absolutely amazing experience and I will definitely try every Haidilao I come across from now on.

Yelp
New kid on the block! Attended during their family and friends opening and had the pleasure of a grand tour of the space prior to the public opening; space thoroughly and tastefully pulled together with central self serve salad bar. Looking forward to near future dinning experience

Yelp
It was my second time. The first time was back in San Jose, California. Both experiences were amazing! Foods were so fresh! The crews were so amazingly great! They're very attentive to the customer's needs. The soup bases are so good. I wish they will have one open in Massachusetts. They have the best hotpot. The ambiance was great in both locations. At every location, you need to wait in line. That's an indication of how good the restaurant is.

Yelp
I have come many times and the service never misses. The food is great, good price and kind servers. Ours this time was Liva I believe (i'm sorry if it's not correct, I did not see the name tag properly). He was very attentive and kind, so this review is also his result! Great ambiance for groups, definitely recommended for large or small groups.

Yelp
Came here for the first time last Sat. Night June 9th. The first immediate observation is the level of service, by everyone there. And it's not like they were doing it because they had to, everyone had an attitude that they wanted to be there. also, the cleanliness of the place, wow, probably the cleanest washrooms in a downtown Chinese restaurant. I'll come back just for that lol Our server was Fer, and she was great. Provided enough attention without being overbearing. Very friendly. The food is your typical hot pot items, but since it's not AYCE, the quality of the meat is much better. I am at an age that I can't eat as much, and prefer to eat certain items. So the a la carte fits our style more. We ended up over ordering big time, had to cancel the noodles, as we were so full. Also had a ton to pack home. Despite the over order, we didn't pay that much more for 4 person, than if we went to an AYCE place.

Yelp
Shout out to Jeff who was very friendly and waited on our group well. And of course, the food was great!

Yelp
"The hotpot was delicious, and everything came out pretty quickly. June, our server, took care of us when we told her it was our first time, and she made sure that we got to enjoy the whole hotpot experience in Toronto. She noticed my hair was down handed me a hair tie and gave us an apron so the food wouldn't get on our clothes. The vibes here are very inviting, the music really fits the atmosphere, and cozy. We had a wonderful time, and we will come again."

Yelp
It's good but not really the full experience. Many menu items still missing compared to other locations such as Vancouver. Would still recommend however. Lots of free items even though it's not a buffet style.
