‘McJesus’ Statue Sparks Violent Protests at Museum in Israel | Eater

"A museum's exhibition of “McJesus,” a sculpture by Finnish artist Jani Leinonen depicting a crucified Ronald McDonald, has sparked weeks of escalating tensions, including a firebomb attack and a violent confrontation in which hundreds of Arab Christian protesters attempted to storm the building to remove the work; police used tear gas and stun grenades to control rock-throwing demonstrators, three officers were injured, and one protester was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. Leinonen says he had asked months earlier for the piece to be removed after joining the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, but the request was ignored. The national minister of culture publicly urged removal, while museum leadership agreed to place a warning about potentially offensive material at the exhibit entrance and reiterated that artistic debate must not spill over into violence." - Greg Morabito

I loved their exposition. It is a very well curated collection of modern art, with lots of significance… The videos are worth seeing, and very well complemented with the huge objects that come to life within the walls of this museum. You enjoy them much more after watching the videos.

Nice cost place 3 levels, cafe and a gift shop. Met a humble old guard. Friendly staff can't say much about management as they seem overly reacted in slight action at when photo of old security man and talk with him for long.

The exhibitions were interesting and well curated. The museum encourages interacting with the pieces of art. In one area you could put on gloves and touch the sculptures and you were also provided with paper and pencils to draw the sculptures. The museum is located in an area where you can walk around and get something to eat.

you really need to find whats on before going there. With Two small levels you really need to decide if it's worse it. if u ever been in any other museums overseas this one is to be a miss.

Great place to see some modern art by Israeli artists. An added bonus was that it was free for Shabbat and one of the few places that were open on Saturday. One of the "exhibits" was a live performance in the exhibit hall, which was very interesting

I truly enjoyed the more contemporary art displayed here. Very thought provoking pieces and enjoyable works throughout the museum.

Well I'm giving 3 stars because its not my type of museum, it's Modern art, if you are into modern art definitely your place. Seeing a tractor or a bunch of chairs one on top of the other not much impressive. Although there are some good art work, there are better museums of art. (In my opinion)
