South Side legacy seafood that now rolls into downtown fests: crisp, seasoned Gulf‑style shrimp by the bag and shrimp po’ boys. A family operation with deep local roots and a new South Loop outpost backing the truck.

I will start off by saying that this food was definitely worth the wait! The shrimp was nice and crispy. There were great portion sizes and the shrimp was fresh. The staff was lovely and the establishment was very clean. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends. I will say that if you plan to order from here, call ahead so it can be hot and ready when you get there.

The shrimp is good. I go to the location on Vincennes, usually. However, I want to call out the fantastic service I received tonight. The young man working was patient and kind, reviewing the menu with another customer. Though it took a lot of his time to do so, he answered all of her questions and still managed to serve me with attentiveness. When a person enjoys their job, it shows. Treat that brother right!

I gave this place three stars because I was really excited to try it after seeing it all over TikTok. Being from Louisiana, I’ve been missing that good old seafood, and this spot is supposed to be one of the best in the city. Initially, things looked promising the place was very clean and the guy at the front was super nice. But once I got my food, I was honestly disappointed. The shrimp lacked seasoning and tasted pretty bland, which was surprising given the hype. And for $21, you don’t even get a side or a drink just the shrimp. Also, there’s nowhere to sit. For me, if your food is bland, you don’t offer seating, and there are no sides included, it definitely shouldn’t cost $21. I understand it’s downtown, but judging from other reviews I’ve read, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Let me know if you’d like a spicier or more professional tone or want to mention the name of the restaurant.

Went here because it was recommended. Paid $25 for what was supposed to be 8 jumbo shrimp. These had to be the smallest jumbo shrimp I've ever seen. Not even half the size of the other shrimp places that's local. If this were jumbo I'd hate to see regular. A spoon full of spaghetti that was all juice witj about 3 noodles. I feel like I was robbed. To spend $25 and still be hungry is crazy. I'll stick to the shrimp shop or captain B's. I wish I could add a pic

I'm sure my experience would have been better but the restaurant was having a bad day. The fryers were down, and the manager, I guess he was, informed us but also offered us the shrimp that he just cooked and extra for still choosing to shop there. Once inside, we ordered and paid, and then the guy had an attitude and was mumbling something under his breath. The shrimp were good despite being cold. My husband and I figured we would try them another time. Maybe a few months from now, when the store is running a little more smoothly.

I had a wonderful experience dining here. Ethen provided outstanding service — he was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my visit. I would also love to see a few more items added to the menu. Adding catfish and garlic bread would pair perfectly with the delicious spaghetti you offer also homemade drinks like strawberry , lemonade or even mango will be great as well . Thank you for a great experience — I look forward to coming back!

I went to Haire’s Gulf Shrimp to purchase a large bomb bag which cost $21 for 19 pieces at 5:30pm. I charged my credit card and the total came out to be $23.46 for a large. I asked if I could have it lightly cooked like the last Customer so he allowed me to taste one shrimp and I said “oh this is good,”yes just like that. Everything was fine. I left happy dancing to the gospel music playing loud at the restaurant. I received my food and thanked him and said have a blessed week . I was really happy when I left. When i got home and settled in, I took the shrimp out of the bag and on to my plate when i counted, it was only 16 so i call the the restaurant and spoke with the manager’s colleague and informed him that I paid for a large bomb bag of shrimp and asked if I was supposed to get 16 or 18 and was informed that supposed to get 19. I asked if I can bring the food back and get what I paid for and the colleague said you don’t have to bring it back, I’ll have it ready for you in 10 minutes and I’ll throw a little extra in and we laughed and I thought that was sweet. I forgot to tell him to cook the shrimp lightly so I called back and thought I was speaking to the colleague and was informed that I’m speaking to the manager so I explained what happened and the manager told me “oh you can come back and get your three shrimp,” I said, sir, I would like for you to prepare me another order for what I paid for and he said “OK well bring yours back and I’ll have it ready when you get here,” in a very inplesant tone. Oh, I forgot to mention that I informed the manager’s college that I ate one off my plate so it is only 15. A totally different experience opposite of when I first encountered the manager and it being my first time at this location. He was upset that he was called out for giving me 16 shrimp and then lying on Facebook and saying I paid for a small and I’m complaining about getting more food until I showed him the receipt that I paid for a large, then he said on Facebook live that people get in their cars and eat the food and come back and complain. Oh my God he did not want to admit his mistake so it got a little heated because now I hear him calling me a KAREN on Facebook and so I’m saying oh my God you’re lying. This is what happened when I returned to bring my food back. He went on Facebook live and lied because I said I’m going live. I am a very honest person or I would like to think so and I know that all who know me would say the same that I am a honest person, but the customer service I received at Harris‘s golf shrimp in the south Loop on Roosevelt and Jefferson, I will never go to this location ever again, and if this company has employees like this, then they need to hire better people to represent their business. COUNT your shrimp when the manager is making it.
