Haire's Gulf Shrimp. South Loop

I recently enjoyed the Fried Shrimp Dinner at Haire’s Gulf Shrimp on Chicago’s famous Riverwalk. The shrimp were perfectly fried, the sides fresh and well-prepared, and the classic family recipe made the meal truly divine. The frozen lemonade was the perfect refreshing touch that made the meal even better. A wonderful experience that shows why Haire’s is so beloved.

I will start off by saying that this food was definitely worth the wait! The shrimp was nice and crispy. There were great portion sizes and the shrimp was fresh. The staff was lovely and the establishment was very clean. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends. I will say that if you plan to order from here, call ahead so it can be hot and ready when you get there.

I gave this place three stars because I was really excited to try it after seeing it all over TikTok. Being from Louisiana, I’ve been missing that good old seafood, and this spot is supposed to be one of the best in the city. Initially, things looked promising the place was very clean and the guy at the front was super nice. But once I got my food, I was honestly disappointed. The shrimp lacked seasoning and tasted pretty bland, which was surprising given the hype. And for $21, you don’t even get a side or a drink just the shrimp. Also, there’s nowhere to sit. For me, if your food is bland, you don’t offer seating, and there are no sides included, it definitely shouldn’t cost $21. I understand it’s downtown, but judging from other reviews I’ve read, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Let me know if you’d like a spicier or more professional tone or want to mention the name of the restaurant.

The shrimp is good. I go to the location on Vincennes, usually. However, I want to call out the fantastic service I received tonight. The young man working was patient and kind, reviewing the menu with another customer. Though it took a lot of his time to do so, he answered all of her questions and still managed to serve me with attentiveness. When a person enjoys their job, it shows. Treat that brother right!

Went here because it was recommended. Paid $25 for what was supposed to be 8 jumbo shrimp. These had to be the smallest jumbo shrimp I've ever seen. Not even half the size of the other shrimp places that's local. If this were jumbo I'd hate to see regular. A spoon full of spaghetti that was all juice witj about 3 noodles. I feel like I was robbed. To spend $25 and still be hungry is crazy. I'll stick to the shrimp shop or captain B's. I wish I could add a pic

I'm sure my experience would have been better but the restaurant was having a bad day. The fryers were down, and the manager, I guess he was, informed us but also offered us the shrimp that he just cooked and extra for still choosing to shop there. Once inside, we ordered and paid, and then the guy had an attitude and was mumbling something under his breath. The shrimp were good despite being cold. My husband and I figured we would try them another time. Maybe a few months from now, when the store is running a little more smoothly.

PLEASE invest in better packaging for delivery orders. I ordered food via uber eats and you provided the delivery driver a greasy OPEN paper bag of shrimp. I’m afraid to eat it. Every other restaurant has bags/packaging that is securely sealed closed!

8-10 medium shrimp.priced at 21 dollars is crazy.typical taste.batter didn't hold up well.sorry but never again for me

Really fresh.. seasoned really well. Light Louisiana seasonings me personally I like a little more but everyone else in our party was thrilled. Got the shrimp dinner. Hmmmmm the spaghetti. Well. I hope it gets better. Bomb large. Delish. Not cheap. But neither is their rent nor are groceries. Will def go bk and support.. WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

I was about to place my order and the worker tells me " cash only " okay cool. I place my order and pull out a $100 dollar bill. Now he tells me that he can't accept $100 dollar bills. It's cool, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I am so so excited to have a Haire's Gulf Shrimp downtown. I would often visit the other location because it was just that good. This location is conveniently located right off of Roosevelt near Chick-fil-A. Customer service is always a hit. Any employee is always really sweet and very professional. If you have never had shrimp from this establishment, run! Do not miss out any longer. This is the best shrimp that I have ever had in my entire life. Sounds a bit dramatic, but it is the truth! With each bite, you can taste a bit of perfection and a little bit of heaven. I'm not sure what type of batter they use, but the shrimp is light and fluffy, but still has crispiness to it. You can order a bag of shrimp or you can order a shrimp dinner. They also have other things on the menu as well. The shrimp are simply delicious. Do yourself a favor don't walk but run to your nearest Haires Gulf Shrimp. I can't wait to go back!

The shrimp and fries dinner is$25 plus the drinks for a $156 total. Math did not add up so my husband asked and did not have a clear answer. Food was good but definitely no $156 good

Best Shrimp I have tried, not heavily breaded and the flavor was just right. Service was great and efficient. I will certainly recommend them.

Paid $25 for these 8 supposed to be jumbo shrimp. That little cup is supposed to be Spaghetti but it was like soup with about 3 noodles in it. When I arrived home and opened the bag I thought it was a joke. The only thing jumbo about these shrimp was the price! $25 and was left still hungry. I feel like I was robbed. Ill stick to captain you know who!

I've been a customer of their south side location for a number of years & this is among some of the best shrimp & cocktail sauce in the city. I'm honestly willing to rank them as high as #2. The shrimp definitely have a fresh & buttery aspect to them. It's not cheap & it'll honestly take more than a large bag to satisfy a hefty appetite but nonetheless I'm glad they're in such close proximity now.

Someone bought me lunch from this place, the shrimps were greasy and salty to me. Didn't enjoy the food, decent size shrimp. Would have enjoyed it more had it not been so salty.

I travel for work and I usually have one night where I don't feel like traveling anywhere to grab something to eat. I decided to give this place a try. Now there was a little hiccup when ordering online. You can order on their website but since the order isn't through DoorDash or Ubereats a driver will not pick up your order and they do not do delivery through their business. So make sure you order through a delivery service not the website! I spoke with the manager and he refunded me and I placed the order through the Yelp app instead. The delivery was fast and the food was fresh. One of the best shrimp places I have tried hands down! The spaghetti was just ok to me.

Shrimp were not seasoned or crispy. Looked like frozen shrimp that needed more cooking. Haire's on Vincennes much better. I spent $25.71 for the small dinner which included cole slaw and spaghetti. Spaghetti was lukewarm warm.

I stopped by for the first time and ordered a small bag (14 Pieces) of shrimp with coleslaw. Both were very delcious and piping hot. The server was very friendly, energetic, and repsresented the brand well. I love it when a business speaks to you, hopes you enjoy your food, and tells you they hope to see you back soon. I will definitely return. Thanks for the great experience today. Ample parking.

AVOID AT ANY COST! I was at the Riverwalk location with my daughter last week and was planning on ordering two shrimp dinners and a coke. When the woman rang it up the cost was over $70 bucks! Well, ok, it is RIverwalk and they are probably just out to fleece the tourists. But then I looked closer at the bill and they were charging me a $9.50 delivery charge! WTF? We were ordering at the counter, picking up at the counter, and eating at their own tables. When I questioned this charge I was eventually told that this money was used as a tip for the workers. Ummm, ok, but why did they also ask for more tips later in the process? Totally deceptive practices. I ended up telling them where they could put their shrimp and went to Brews & Bites instead. Better food, better service, and better prices! I REFUSE TO BE SCAMMED BY JERKS AND THIEVES

For all you fried shrimp lovers. Delish!!! Slightly on the salty side but still good. Simple menu. Shrimp, Forrest Gump shrimp, and more shrimp! Cooked fresh. Real Jumbo (well medium jumbo) no excessive breading to make it look jumbo. You can really taste the shrimp. They also have Spaghetti. Slaw. Pepsi products. Awesome, friendly service with a care and a smile. Well worth it. Surprised to have stumbled across them at this location. This Southside staple has made it close to downtown and they will soon open location on River walk!!! Looking so forward to it and you should too. Be sure to check them out! Did I say they offer shrimp?!? lol!

Shrimp was so flavorful! They gave us sample as soon as we walked in! It's a take out only.

This place doesn't have Jumbo Shrimp they have medium size and say it's jumbo. And the prices is high for these small shrimp I'll stick to bob's shrimp that's true Juno shrimp. And it's better and less expensive.

Stopped by today (Friday afternoon during lunch). This is a shrimp take-out joint; nothing more. Shrimp = YUMMY: service - personal and inviting.

I have been going to Haire;s Gulf Shrimp ever since he was on Vincennes Ave across from Simeon High School. Restaurant or food truck, I found the product to be consistently very good. I went to the new location on Jefferson last Saturday, and was very disappointed. Half of my shrimp were freshly fried and hot, while the rest were cold. Had I not already gotten on the E-Way I would have returned for a refund. Word to Management: Train your people on the way it's done at the other store and be consistent. The young woman was there by herself and probably figured she could do what she wanted, even if that meant serving cold shrimp that had been sitting in the tray. I will go back, but will insist my shrimp are fried to order, PLEASE.

If you remember the Caboose on stony back in the day this place is nostalgic. Food was great, service was fast. Still consistent. Its been over 15 years since I had it before last week, and it made me miss my childhood.

I stopped by during Black restaurant week. The service was excellent. They let me sample a shrimp before I ordered since it was my first toe there. I ordered the small shrimp dinner that came with a 3 tablespoons serving size of spaghetti & a tablespoon of coleslaw for $24. Although the shrimp was good, I'm not sure if it was worth it for the price. I imagine the price was high due to the location of the restaurant. Good shrimp & excellent service.
