This is one of my favorite tonkotsu in the entire LA area. So sad the one in Little Tokyo area near Downtown closed. I love the noodle itself. It tastes really fresh. The tonkotsu broth itself is very refined. I will go either way middle flavor and extra firm noodles. The middle flavor is just ok. Not too intense. The shoyu I tried. Middle flavor is going to taste too salty. I’ll go one notch down. Always order kaedama here. Really one of the best tasting noodles. $15 for ramen is why I come here. Most reasonably priced ramen with authentic taste. The gyoza is a must. It is quite good.

First time coming here and I have to admit it was so good and juicy. My favorite out of the dish was the rice. I come from out of state and coming here as a tourist it was so delicious. I will come back this way again when I am in town

Busy place! Put your name on the yelp wait list. No place to wait inside. Indoor dining conditions are not top notch and it’s a little dingy with dirty bathrooms but the food and service were excellent! I had the black demon slice level 3 and it was great. My wife had the mentai ramen and kids had the tonkatsu. All were excellent!! Would go back. We’ve been to Japan and ate all the types of ramen and also have tried Ramen in various big cities across the world. My wife is also half Japanese, and very critical of ramen.

Food and portion sizes for the price were great, and our server Jade tonight was phenomonal, she's everything a server should be! Haven't had a service experience so pleasant in a long time; refills (especially on water) were so consistent, she was great about providing recommendations for newcomers, is a natural at building relationships with customers, and it never felt like she was unreachable despite being consistently packed on Halloween night. It really makes you remember the experience and want to come back! Hakata is definitely going on my list of restaurants to return to. BTW I was surprised to see they had a Halloween special for spicy ramen being half off, they were great about communicating about the deal and options available, that was a pleasant surprise too!

Probably the best tonkotsu ramen in all of socal. It is a shame that the other two locations in LA and OC closed recently due to landlord and staffing issues, but this place is damn delicious. Hits the spot if you are looking for good, tasty, tonkotsu ramen.

Always wanted to try this spot, however last two previous visits were extremely packed. We came here around 4:30 pm on Saturday, and it was light and we were able to get served expediently. Karage Chicken & Gyoza for appetizers then a bowl of their Black Garlic Ramen. Wow! What amazing flavor in the soup. Their service was excellent and friendly, we will be back for more. Another fine spot for Ramen. *Soft lighting photos were taken late October 2020 during pandemic times. The outside dining was quite pleasant and so much more room. Both service and quality of their cuisine has actually boosted up since the first visit here. I'd give um 10 ⭐s for continued excellence.*

The food was delicious and exactly what you would expect from an authentic Japanese ramen establishment. The service was above and beyond the norm, staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys high-quality ramen, especially those who want to truly experience what ramen is all about.

Mmmm not my favorite. I got the light tonkatsu and was surprised because it still tasted super fatty. Like after the meal, my teeth felt gross. The flavor was fine and what stood out was the flavored egg, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms. We also ordered the chicken karaage and it was good, but a bit strange that the customer needs to cut it up, since it comes in one big chunk. Noodles were fine but not the best I had. Overall ambiance is very similar to 90s grunge. Not the cleanest place. Service was good though! Probably won't return.

When they have the 50% off special deal, it's a no brainer destination dining trek Torrance if you're in the South Bay Beach Cities. The broth is very tasty. I am spice adverse so ordered the spicy sauce on the side and it came "normal" not a hint of heat, the way I like it. Because it's ramen inherently it's real fast to prepare and serve. The service is fast and friendly here

We just came back from Japan and were missing ramen. It is very comparable to the ramen we had, the broth was very creamy and fatty. The workers were very nice and the price was very fair. It's located in a plaza with other restaurants. The store is small, we didn't have to wait for seating on a weekday night. I live in OC, it's nice that they also have a location in Costa Mesa. ig: @cravingswithcat

Giving them 1 star because it smelled good. Waited there for 43 minutes till my party was next. I asked to see how much longer till we get seated to and was told that we never "checked in" despite being on the waitlist. What's the point of getting on the waitlist if I still had to "check in"? Never received a text either after signing in. She didn't try to help or anything she just said your party needs to wait 10 more minutes. I was told this place is great but after this, I'm not coming back again.

He keeps running with his motto: "To bring happiness to all the people". He constantly pursues the most desirable taste and makes every effort to spread "Hakata Ramen" culture to the world. Kousuke Yoshimura was born in June 1976 in Fukuoka city. His father was a sushi-chef and his mother ran a Japanese-style bar. Naturally he got interested in cooking in childhood. Aside from his regular work, he had built up his experience in a gyoza restaurant for two years. He came back to his mother's bar and he devoted himself to cooking. Though those experiences, he completed his original tonkotsu ramen by himself and opened "Hakata Ikkousha" in Daimyo, Fukuoka. The shop was named "Ikkousha" with the hope that whoever comes here can find "one" or more "happiness" at the precious "place". He also opened "Hakata Gensuke", which was the very first Tsukemen,dipping ramen,shop in April 2008- Hakata. The concept of the shop is totally different from that of "Ikkousha". Law of the land 1) They do not accept reservations. 2) First come, first serve policy. Location/Parking: Located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking spots. Wait Time: Really depends on the time you go. They encourage everyone to use the Yelp Waitlist Kiosk. We waited about 10-15 minutes. Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance with pretty cool decor through the small shop. Service: Service was great. The staffers were friendly and attentive. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: 1) Large Karaage: Pricing was a bit pricey ($14 - $15), but you get about 4-5 big pieces. It would be great if they could put the pricing on the order form. I did like the crunch and how moist the chicken was. It was very nice that they provided scissors to cut them to smaller pieces. 2) Fried Squid Leg: Mmmmm. Very good. 3) Mentai Tonkotsu: Loved it! The tonkotsu soup base was so delightful to drink. Had plenty of garlic, but if you want more... ask for more! They don't provide an actual garlic and a presser, but they do give you minced garlic in a container to put in to your bowl. Has a little spicy kick. Noods were to my liking and the chasu was tender. Hakata Ikkousha Ramen For Thought: Would love to patronize the shop again.

TL;DR - they have limited time tsukemen for August and it is OUTSTANDING! Hakata Ikkousha Ramen is now my go-to place for tsukemen. They have tsukemen for the month of August!!! Hurry before it is gone! They're currently doing monthly themed dishes and this is the one for August. I was really surprised to see this option so I got it and was really happy with my decision! My normal go-to place for tsukemen is in Sawtelle, Los Angeles but I no longer need to go there, at least for August. Their tsukemen was outstanding. I don't know what they did to make their dipping sauce but it wasn't too salty or fatty like it normally is. The flavor was nice but not overpowering. The most unique element of the dipping broth was the unexpected smokiness that you could taste. I absolutely loved it. Enough to ask to waitress if it was going to stay on their menu after August. Apparently the staff likes it too and they're considering it. Please please PLEASE keep it on the menu! I would come back just for this. I even finished ALL of the dipping sauce despite having no more noodles (normally it's not recommended to drink it because it is too salty and fatty lol) The service was fast and professional as usual. They were very helpful with explaining everything. There weren't many people when we went so there were no issues with seating and it was quiet enough to hold a conversation.

I've always passed by this little plaza and today was the day to explore and this was our Stop. The place has nothing Fancy but some tables, cool decor and just DAM GOOD Ramen Period!! Their menu is simple and to the point some items that come as sides that you can get as well. I had their 5pc Gyozas and they were really good with the dipping sauce nice and crunchy. Their ramen was SO flavorful and Rich. When looking at my food presentation is important and I could tell right off the bat it was going to be good. I had their Signature Ramen and added Seaweed and every swirl of noodle was just perfection. Their black Tonkotsu was honestly the best thing EVER the flavors just blend so well together and it's different but so good. This by far has to be on my TOP list of Ramen spots to def hit up. May was our server and she was the sweetest and gave some good tips as it was my first time there and now I know how to properly order next time. Their staff are very quick to greet you and have you seated right away and instantly you have waters and you grab a paper and circle how you want your Ramen and so forth very easy and straight forward. Def looking forward to coming again and bringing our friends. You gotta come here!

Rich, flavorful broth with perfectly chewy noodles this place nails authentic ramen. The spicy tonkotsu was bold without overpowering, and the chashu melted in my mouth. Service was quick and attentive, keeping things flowing even during the rush. Cozy ambiance makes it a great spot to warm up and enjoy comfort food done right.

Visited this place over the weekend and it was so good! Definitely in my top fav ramen spots. They were busy but we still got sat pretty quickly. It seemed that they were understaffed bc our server was serving the entire restaurant with a coworker so service was a bit slow which was understandable but so worth the wait for our food. Our server was very kind and helped us out since we had some questions about the menu and how to order. Shoutout to her because I saw her dealing with a Karen sitting right next to us and she remained kind and respectful while the Karen was being so rude over some cabbage. I ordered the God fire level 1 which was spicier than I expected but still so good and yummy! Overall, a great experience and good food.

A quick search led us to this Ramen spot. We were able to join the wait list, so thought it was convenient. Wait time on a Thursday night around 8pm was 30 mins. We arrived early to open tables, us being 1st on the list, but still waited for a table. Orders are written on a separate sheet per person, taken by a server, with food delivered shortly thereafter. I ordered the 1st Ramen option which is very plain. I am use to flavorful broth, but this was far from that. Goid news though, it was not salty. The smaller portions vs competition was not a match for the price point. With a flyer on the wall for Japanese pudding, I gave it a try. Picture vs actual size were way off. It was tiny! 3-4 bites for $7. It was good...reminded me if flan, just not worth the price. Other than ordering and food delivery, not much service.

Haven't been here in a while, no waitlist needed this time. Cute restaurant with good use of space with bar tables for single eaters on the side and tables in the middle. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the tonkatsu with everything topping, tonkatsu ramen and katsu curry. The bowl seemed small for the amount of toppings they put with the "everything topping". Broth was flavorful and they cooked my noodles just how I like them (hard and firm). Katsu curry was also pretty good except the chicken pieces were kind of fatty.

Stop by the restaurant for a quick lunch around 11:30AM and the place was already full. I was lucky to take the last table. The ambience is of modern Japanese ramen place with seating for 40+ people. Since it was packed, there was some waiting for menu and water. Besides the menu, the staff also handed me a separate order sheet where I entered my order and chose options such as noodle hardness, broth strength and toppings. I ordered Tonkotsu with Small Mentai Don Lunch Combo: the tonkotsu ramen's broth was flavorful and thick but not oily. I could taste the collagen but it was not too overpowering. The chashu was tender and not fatty. The egg was not peeled nicely but inside was runny. The side order of Mentaiko Don was salty and slightly fishy as expected, but not too spicy and quite flavorful, and it went well with seasoned rice, green onions and dried seaweed flakes. Overall, a very nice ramen place for a quick lunch or dinner. Just couldn't give it a 5 star review due to health rating.

Tried this spot for the first time and, unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our expectations. Our waitress opted to memorize the order for our family of three--which I'm generally not a fan of since something always seems to get missed. Sure enough, she completely forgot our fried rice. On the plus side, the ramen came out quickly--within 5 minutes--and the service was fast overall. The restaurant has a decent vibe, typical of most ramen spots. As for the food: - My wife ordered the Shoyu ramen but wasn't a fan. - My son tried the Spicy Miso and really enjoyed it. - I went with the traditional Tonkotsu ramen, which I'd rate a 6.5/10. To be fair, our ramen standards are pretty high after living in Japan, so we're a bit picky. Surprisingly, the chicken karaage was really good--large pieces, flavorful, and they even provide scissors to cut it down to size. The gyoza, however, was disappointing. The menu shows them as pan-seared (the traditional style), but they came out deep-fried. While the filling was juicy and tasty, it wasn't the preparation we expected or preferred. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but with so many great ramen options in LA, we probably wouldn't return.

This is place is in a plaza with a bunch of brown facade buildings with nothing visually interesting outside. The interior is simple with chairs and tables, posters on the wall describing the menu, and an open view into the kitchen. You order on paper slips describing the ramen, addons, and side dishes to give to a waiter. I ordered the black devil spice level 2 and it came out quickly. The black devil has a mixture of spice and black garlic oil. The soup quality is rich, creamy, and packed with pork bone goodness. They use thin noodles here, which were alright. The pork charsiu was thin and not very flavorful, but passable. The egg was properly done with a creamy soft yolk. The black garlic oil added a nice depth of unami to the dish, and there was plenty of it. Spice level 2 isn't very spicy, so if you like spice I recommend a higher level. No real notes on anything. Excellent soup, middling everything else.

one of my go to places nearly once a week! i love the staff and most of all the food. This is a nice place to bring friends and company . Very calm and lively environment well lit and cool music always playing. Im happy to eat here and grateful to have found this place 6 years ago!

The service here is super quick! We order via a piece of paper and state which ramen we would like. The ramen already have all the default toppings like the image, but if you want to add more, you can mark it on your paper. I requested for more toppings and it was a hefty portion of ramen and toppings! I got spice level 3 and must say it packs a lot of heat. To any spice lover, 3-4 are great levels! Will definitely check out the one down in my area when I am free!

pros: - REALLY good karaage, 3 piece(large) was a huge quantity - will come back to try the spicy version - interesting 5 spice/msg dipping powder for the chicken - i like that you can customize everything from the noodle doneness to broth flavor intensity - good service cons: - no lemon for the karaage tho? huge miss - both god fire and spicy miso was VERY salty. wish i got "light" on flavor - sadly mid? reminds me of shin sen gumi which is also overrated imo

Best ramen in Torrance. Authentic Hakata style ramen with so many options. Service is quick and ambiance is cozy. The sides are outstanding and they also have curry bowls.

Yeah... the ramen here is decent. 7/10 but I'll round up because I don't think it deserves 3 stars here. The soup base, salt, noodle firmness, can all be customized which is pretty nice. Overall I would get firm noodles and less salty base, but that's just personal preference. I found that to be the perfect combination.

I've dined here a few times not because I like their ramen but because of their location and for the convenience. I'm not a fan of their ramens because they feel heavy but lacking the right flavors at the same time. The service here is bad, too. They never welcome you when you enter and I feel like the servers here always have a little bit of attitude. The last time I went, I found a gnat in my ramen. We all know that you can't have just one gnat--you either have none or a tone. And when I mentioned it to my server as I was paying, he took my ramen bowl to show it to the kitchen staff and they were chatting for A WHILE. My intention wasn't to get a refund (if that was the case I wouldn't have paid in the first place) and I didn't think the server would come back to me to apologize anyways so I just left and I'm never going back there again.

This spot never disappoints - food is always on point! It was my nephew's birthday and he wanted to come and eat here. For a party of 3 we waited around 15 minutes so it wasn't too bad. The restaurant is always crowded and lively. We ordered two appetizers, two ramen bowls, and one fried rice. Cabbage salad - yummy as always Kaarage - these were the most juiciest, tender, crispy fried chicken ever! Tonkotsu ramen - nephew had it, said the flavor is bomb Black Tonkotsu ramen - my order and omg the taste of the black garlic mixed with tonkotsu broth is prominent and flavorful Fried rice - this item is dangerously addictive on a good way Overall, come one and come all to this Hakata Ikkousha location. Guaranteed perfection 100%

I was recommended this hole in the wall for some ramen! I went on a Saturday night around 9:30pm. It wasn't full, there were still some tables open. The location is pretty small, like I said, it's a hole in the wall. Plenty of parking in the plaza. I ended up ordering the spicy miso tonkotsu. The broth was amazing, exactly how I expect my tonkotsu broth to be like. I was very intrigued by the corn that was added. I have never had corn in my ramen before I was very like wooooah. It adds a kick of sweetness that I'm personally not the biggest fan of. I prefer my ramen to stay savory, flavorful and spicy. It didn't ruin it, but definitely made me surprised. The service was speedy, and the waiter was extremely kind. He answered all the questions I had considering it was my first time there. I ended up getting a tiramisu to go. I didn't try it but my family said that it was tasty! I personally don't see myself returning but it was a nice first time experience to say the least!

Great service, quick seating. Cute casual spot for ramen! Got the mentai tonkatsu-- I can't say it had a very strong mentaiko flavor, but the broth was definitely very rich & kind of eggy (makes sense as mentaiko is cod roe). I really enjoyed choosing my noodle texture-- the firm noodles were perfect for me. The pork was not my favorite, but the rest of the bowl made up for it. Definitely get the chicken karaage!! It's extremely crunchy & juicy.

Me and my bf were craving ramen so we looked for a place and decided do this one. We placed a phone order and they said it'll be ready in 20 min. I got there and paid with the cashier that was friendly. When we got home and tried our ramen we were extremely disappointed. The noodle were super firm, the broth was bland and despite them charging extra for spice there was no spice. In my soup there was a hair yuck. The total was like $40 & it all was a disappointment.

They forgot my chashu :c I got their black devil ramen with everything topping. I ordered through yelp and for black devil ramen it's 16.50 but if you order from their website it's $15.50. The everything topping is additional $7.50. I ordered it to-go so i didn't take photos of my food cause it's no aesthetically pleasing to look at compared to dining in, but it was supposed to come with 3 pieces of chashu and it didn't come with any meat. It did come with seaweed, egg, bamboo, vegetables, but not the 3 pieces of chashu. I called them and they asked if I can come back to pick up the chashu. But it takes me 15 min to drive there and another 15 min to drive back cause they forgot. They said they're going to try to refund the everything topping so I'll be looking forward to it. Aside from that, the ramen is very good. It is very spicy which I like. The type of noodle they use isn't my favorite, almost similar to shinsengumi. The type of noodle is a personal preference but this place is a solid ramen place nonetheless. Interior is super tiny. Couple days ago, they had half price ramen on Halloween night. Missed out on it so been craving for this place since then!

Service was great. Food came out fast but I didn't really get the hype about this place. The ramen was good but not great. The menu wasn't easy to understand so we didn't order what we wanted which was definitely disappointing. The spicy fried chicken was absolutely delicious though. I would definitely come back for that. My biggest issue was the menu. I thought the bowls were build it yourself because they have you select soup base and toppings, etc but when the food came out we realized all the bowls had different noodles and toppings regardless of what we ordered. I personally wanted only veggies & an egg on my ramen so that's what I ordered. However it came with pork in it because I'm assuming the soup base had it? I also didn't order corn but that was in it. Flavor was okay. They give you options for how flavorful you'd like it and how firm the noodles are which I liked. But I ordered the level 3 out of 4 spicy in the spicy base and asked for extra chili paste because I didn't think it was spicy.

Super hot and delicious ramen. From flavor to temperature to the quality ingredients-- these ramen bowls are everything your ramen dreams are made of. The chashu was tender, not tough or dry, but flavorful and delicious. The soft flavored egg was also a favorite of ours. Definitely try adding the raw chopped garlic to your noodles, it gives an extra bite of flavor and adds depth to the already delicious soup. The customer service is great, very attentive and very kind and informative. The restaurant is clean and spacious-- but def gets packed according to reviews. We went at 9pm so not too packed but their to-go/pickup orders were off the chain busy! My husband had the shoyu ramen and he loved it. I had the miso chashu and it was amazing. This is now on our fav ramen list, love this place and will be back! Must try for yourselves!

This place continues to be one of my all-time favorite ramen spots in Torrance. I used to come here regularly when I worked nearby, but after over 6 years of working remotely, I hadn't been back--until now. I'm thrilled to say it's just as incredible as I remembered! The ramen noodles are cooked to perfection, and the umami-rich broth is nothing short of divine. This time, I brought my husband and kids, and they were equally impressed. My 3-year-old, who is notoriously picky, shocked us all by devouring nearly an entire bowl of ramen--a huge victory for any parent of a toddler! The ordering process is authentic and straightforward, just like in Japan--you mark your preferences on a sheet, ensuring your bowl is exactly how you like it. The service was quick and attentive, with the staff going out of their way to bring extra napkins and water for our 3- and 1-year-olds. We also loved how the ambiance transported us, making us feel as though we were enjoying ramen in Japan itself. We'll definitely be making the trek to this side of Torrance again for another taste. Highly recommended!

Disappointing First Visit I had a very unpleasant experience on my first visit here. I arrived five minutes before their opening time of 11:30 AM and noticed the door was already open, so I stepped in to check the menu. One staff member told me they weren't open yet, which I completely understood and responded politely that I'd just take a quick look at the menu. However, an older Japanese man--presumably the cook--rudely yelled, "We aren't open yet!" I calmly replied that I'd wait outside, but honestly, the whole interaction felt unnecessarily hostile. If the restaurant isn't open, then the door should be locked to avoid confusion. More importantly, that's not the way to treat potential customers. Thankfully, one staff member--the Filipina lady--was kind and helpful, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a bad impression. I won't be returning and definitely won't be recommending this place to friends. Customer service matters, and this place fell short.

We came here to try the Flaming Devil, and it certainly lives up to its name! It was the spiciest ramen I've ever had. The broth was thick with spice and every bite was coated in the broth, so there was no escape haha. I thought the meat chunks were fine. Some pieces were chewier or tougher than others, so I prefer their thinner cuts of meat since they're usually softer. The noodles were slightly curly and bouncier than their usual thin noodles. The service was great. The servers regularly checked in on us and the ramen chef asked us how the meal was. If you're curious in trying it, make sure to go before it's gone by the end of May!

Solid ramen spot- but I have to say my favorite thing here was the karaage! Probably the best karaage I've had in the South Bay. I ordered the black tonkotsu ramen- but I got the soup base light and found it a bit lacking in flavor. Noodles were cooked perfectly (I always order them hard bc I like my noodles el dente!). Pork slices were just okay. I definitely recommend getting NORMAL soup base rather than light.

Hakata Ikkousha always has a bit of a wait on the weekend for a reason - it's really good! The ramen dishes are entirely customizable, yet somehow comes out consistently each time, whether you're visiting the location in Torrance, Costa Mesa, or Little Tokyo. The quality control is high here. I always get the Godfire Ramen, level 4, light taste, soft or normal noodles, and it comes out perfectly each time. This is one of the best ramen I've ever had. Spice and flavor are amazing. Highly recommended.

Tried this ramen shop out since I was in the area and seen good reviews. Located in a shopping mall in Torrance, ample parking in front. Went here for a late lunch, they had lunch special sets so tried their popular Black Tonkotsu ramen set with fried rice. You can customize your ramen by filling out the form before you order, so I added an egg and extra charsiu pork. Ramen came out quickly, noticed that the charsiu pork slices are rather thin than I am usually accustomed to.... But the ramen was good, broth very thick and tasty. Fried rice was expected. Price was on point for what was ordered.... A generous 4 stars

Came in right when they were just open at 11 AM. Casual place to get some delicious ramen. We got the God Fire Ramen and Miso. The God Fire was very rich in flavor and the level 4 wasn't really that spicy as I asked for about some chili oil on the side. To get the order going, you need to fill out your own order sheet (one form per bowl/order). You can choose what kind of broth, noodle hardness, toppings, side dishes etc. The service was quick and the food came out pretty fast. I loved their chicken karage and the gyoza was just okay.

We were in the area and decided to try this place. The food was amazing! They have a check-in iPad that places you in line and then you get seated once table is available. They are very quick with service, food is amazing. We loved their ramen and gyoza! so delicious! This place is now our favorite ramen spot!

Best ramen I've had. I had the Mentaiko Ramen, It was so flavorful and the pork literally melts in your mouth, super delicious. The service was great as well!

Hakata Ikkousha is always so consistent. The Tonkotsu Pork broth is very rich indeed. The ramen is one of the best here. The Pork chashu is tasty and perfectly cooked. The noodles is how I love, firm. The staff are always on point.

My new ramen spot! I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra chasu and seaweed. Being able to customize your bowl is a plus, but it's even better that it's made perfectly. Noodles were perfectly firm, the broth was light, and had a great salty base. Normally, I leave my usual ramen spot feeling really bloated but here I did not. I'm excited to come back

One of my favorite ramen restaurants in LA! Authentic Japanese ramen full of rich flavor, paired with delicious toppings. This restaurant can get busy, so best to join the waitlist on your way to the restaurant. It is an authentic dining experience with tables or bar seating. My go to appetizer is the karage which is crispy and juicy. The black devil ramen is my favorite, which is a perfect blend of a rich garlic broth and spicy tonkatsu broth. Such a great pair for a broth. The thin sliced chasu drapes over the bowl, and the pairing of fresh bean sprouts added a cool and crunch texture to the hot and rich broth. The ramen is so good here, I get extra noodles on the side. I like the noodles cooked hard, and I add chili oil and chili flakes to the broth for more kick. Fantastic restaurant serving some of the best ramen in the South Bay of LA!

Prompt, quick service, delicious food, can't go wrong ramen place. It's in the big plaza with 85 degrees on the Carson side, so plenty of parking. Preset options (I like to order simply) as well as customized toppings/noodles and everything. Spicy stuff for the hubby, tonkatsu flavors for little one, and I love the specials they run once in a while. It's a smallish restaurant that gets packed... they have a bunch of tables set up for 4 and a wall table where solo diners can take up just one seat. I do wish they would split the table of 4 into 2 tables of 2 when it's so busy though. There is an option at check in to say it's ok to share a table... and a lot of diners are just 2 people.

I love the plaza this place is located in! So many diverse and awesome options. The parking lot is huge so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot. That being said.. I got the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu and the Chicken Karaage. I will say they were good, but I was just not personally a fan of it. It was not to my personal preference, so it had nothing to do with the quality of food. I will say though I've had a lot of ramen and this place is pretty expensive and requires you pay more for extra toppings. I probably won't be coming back as I just didn't enjoy it sadly as much as I wanted to. The service is great! The ladies were very nice and the service was fast! I appreciated that a lot! The place just transports you to Japan and it feels so authentic! It's super cute and I dig the vibes a lot!

You take a slip of paper per eating buying customer and you fill it out with red ink on white and black, they number the tables. The master chef who is at their Costa Mesa location is renowned for his gyoza dumplings before he started being known for inventing ramens. There is a heat sauce in red for the gyoza. It tastes very different from any spicy paste I have ever tried while already having a distinct Japanese flavour. The food came out pretty quickly. I love "Japan food stalls" although Angeleno ramen shops are all full blown restaurants to me. The chicken Katsu Curry Don was a marvel in a small bowl. The crust was fully crispy. The interior of the meat moist and juicy. I always love the pink ginger pickled condiment. The curry to me was sweet not bitter. Although at spicy levels 3 my face almost fell off from my Black Devil ramen, which is a combination of God Fire ramen which is heat and regular Black Tonkotsu Ramen which is calm without heat, I loved the seaweed, cha shu pork, the bean sprouts, the wood ear mushrooms, steamed cabbage, green onions, the bamboo, the delicately boiled egg with creamy yellow soft liquid interior. I would recommend for myself to try the new appetizers kim chi, fried squid legs, and takoyaki, especially if I should get to come back soon. We got the God fire, Tonkotsu, and fried rice. The God fire (8/10) had a good kick to it and the tonkotsu (9/10) had rich flavor. The way you order is through filling out on paper and choosing your choice of ramen, noodle texture, etc. I love how customizable it is. The fried rice (5/10) was just average wouldn't get it again.

Went for the 50% off Ramen 9th anniversary. Felt great to have our favorite ramen at the celebration price. God Fire was spicy and flavorful, Tonkotsu was nice and creamy. Followed another review recommendation to dip chahan into the tonkotsu broth, tastes great. Ordered 10 pc gyoza and some Sapporo for a nice touch. Service was friendly. Line was long as expected but the ramen was nice and hot by the time you were seated.

This is a very solid spot for some authentic Hakata style ramen. I really enjoyed the super rich and flavorful broth. The black devil is half spicy tonkatsu and half black garlic tonkatsu broth. It suites my desire for multiple depths of flavor. I tried my friend's regular tonkatsu broth, and it was insanely rich to the point where the broth will start to congeal if you let it sit for a minute. I love that there is an option for extra green onion as I love onions in general so this adds a refreshing bite. The premium toppings was a big too much for me, I think I would scale down to the level below. The chashu is very flavorful and not overly salty compared to other places. The egg was perfectly gooey inside and had good flavor. The only part I didn't enjoy as much was the noodles, but it is a preference thing for sure. I just prefer thicker chewy noodles over their thin style noodles. All in all, I would definitely come back, and it is a huge plus for being down the street from my house!
