We did walk it around 2 and not may people there. A bit pricy for what we get for the otoro and sea urchin don($11,000yen). Can get much better quality one in Tokyo than here. There are only 3 Otoro in the don although the name seems that the whole don suppose to be all Otoro but not some chutoro and tuna sashimi. Sea urchin isn’t too fresh and is a bit bitter. The mentaiko baguette is a bit too wet and bread shops ones taste better. View, service and environment however are great, seems to be a good place for tourists to visit for a quick lunch/dinner, but recommend not to order the Otoro and uni don. They also need one don per person. Won’t be back again.

Wonderful place by the river. You sit and look out into the river. We arrived very early at breakfast timing and there was no queue. Their signature dish is the ikura with mentaiko over rice. We ordered that and found it a little too overly saltish for our liking. But what really won us over was the grilled fish. It was so savoury and the meat felt like it melted in your mouth. Highly recommend trying the grilled fish !

Came here for dinner on our first night in Fukuoka with no reservation and was seated upon arrival. The restaurant was near the canal. We when the river was lit up with Christmas lights. The food was delicious when mixed together in one bite. Full of umami. The serving fills you up 😊

Came around 2pm and didn't need to line up, however the infamous Kaisendon bowl had sold out. Got the sashimi bowl instead, with very fresh sashimi and roe. Nothing much to the bowl other than the freshness of its ingredients. Includes unlimited self-serve side dishes (pickled cabbage and some other greens, miso soup) and green tea. Peaceful dining experience next to the water on a weekday afternoon.

Awesome place, Love spicy mentaiko, sashimi is fresh. The side dish, mentaiko potato is super addictive! Went around 10am, no queue. Waited 5 min to be seated.

Mentaiko here is seriously good! We came back to Fukuoka after 8 months cos we missed this so much! The fried Kyushu chicken was legit yummy too! 😋😋

I was really surprised by how good it was! Since the place looks quite modern, I didn't expect it to taste this delicious. Both the egg and the mentaiko were amazing, and I didn't have to wait long. I even walked over to grab a coffee, and by the time I got back, my food was ready. Highly recommended!

Pretty busy although queue is not overly long coming for late lunch, came around 1:20 PM and was seated 1:40PM on weekday. Got the signature mentaiko, ikura egg bowl with mentaiko baguette on the side. While the mentaiko bowl looks very pretty the flavour is not very mind blowing, doesn't seem to be any additional sauce in the bowl and rice but the mentaiko made up for it in terms of flavour and saltiness.
