Was full of expectations for this because it came so highly rated on all social media. Came here on a Monday evening. The road in is very narrow, please note if you are driving here! Parking is also expensive! 1000Yen for a night of dining! Walked in about 8.03pm and the restaurant closes at 9pm. The waiter was curt and asked me to scan some TablePass or something but I couldn’t find it, told him and he insisted and mumbled something until finally relented. Restaurant was looking quite empty. We asked to change seat to see the river and I was told “no”. My husband then asked again and he said “there’s a reservation.” At 8.10pm when restaurant closing at 9? I guess the waiter realised how foolish it sounded and told us we could have the table. We were made to order a main and a drink each for each adult, per the instruction of the waiter. Not sure if this rule applies to everyone here? Got the mentaiko ikura don, unagi egg don, ochazuke and tempura. Asked if I can change drink to dessert as the kids can’t take tea, but was made with a curt “no”. The shizuke tea was expensive and only few sips at 850! Nothing really stood out. They were as they look, nicely displayed, fresh no doubt. But will unfortunately not come here again.

MAKE A RESERVATION PLEASE. There were 2 groups before us and we had to queue for around 30 minutes in the morning as we decided to visit last minute. Many more are queuing after us, be prepared to wait as all the tables are for reserved customers. Only counter seats are for walk in. Food is good, slightly overpriced. Offers a wide variety of side dishes that all tastes great.

I came here to try Mentai Ikura Tamagoyaki Don because Mentaiko is a local ingredient that you should experience it once and I watched reviews from a Thai YouTuber that seafood at this restaurant is quite good. I tried mentaiko from other restaurants but I didn't like it that much because of too salty taste, but what I ate here was good. It was not too salty and when I ate it with rice, omelette salmon roe, it was just right. Their sushi was fresh and tasted good as well. My friends ordered Goka Kaisendon and Donabe Yaki Mentai Unatama Jyu (full eel & egg) , they also liked their food. I booked a table online before I came here.

overall a very enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend!! the seafood set was worth it’s price, with fresh ingredients and well prepared dishes. mr motoyama was particularly friendly and helpful, enhancing our dining experience. would revisit next time i'm in fukuoka!!!

We did walk it around 2 and not may people there. A bit pricy for what we get for the otoro and sea urchin don($11,000yen). Can get much better quality one in Tokyo than here. There are only 3 Otoro in the don although the name seems that the whole don suppose to be all Otoro but not some chutoro and tuna sashimi. Sea urchin isn’t too fresh and is a bit bitter. The mentaiko baguette is a bit too wet and bread shops ones taste better. View, service and environment however are great, seems to be a good place for tourists to visit for a quick lunch/dinner, but recommend not to order the Otoro and uni don. They also need one don per person. Won’t be back again.

Arrived at 9:30 for breakfast and there was a line outside the restaurant. The instructions were unclear, the line was for lunch so you need to tell the waiter to arrange seats for your breakfast. Breakfast menu has 5 sets to choose from, and the appetisers and water/ tea are self served. Not sure why it took the kitchen more than 40 min to cook my breakfast when the things that required cooking were the rice and the fried egg. Taste was average and not impressive, need not to come if you are tourist as it will waste one of your precious meal time.

Truly amazing place. Clean. Modern. Delicious. Highly recommended. They have budget options to expensive options. We loved trying the Mentaiko rice breakfast. Refills on side dishes included. I love this place and want to come back. We ate here twice.

The food is really nice but the service is even nicer ^^ Yukito introduced us to the special sake set which absolutely match the foods. Thanks for the great hospitality. We will definitely be back again.
