Visited Tanakada in Nishiazabu, a upscale izakaya known for the concept “order whatever you love, as much as you like.”
We had a sashimi assortment with uni, squid, tuna, scallops, and white fish — all incredibly fresh and perfect with Kyushu-style sweet soy sauce.
The thick-cut ham katsu was crispy with a thin coating, letting the juicy ham shine.
The butter-grilled abalone was huge and tender, full of rich flavor.
We also enjoyed kinmedai-style simmered rockfish, mentaiko, spicy kombu, and ended with their signature “zeitaku-don,” the perfect finish.
