Forest shower therapy, you can capture every little detail from the vivid green leaves, sunlit stone path to the tall straight cedar trees. I spent an hour soaking it all in.
Highly recommend if you love quiet moments, sunlight through trees, and taking peaceful nature photos

The museum wasn't interesting for me. It's all about portret etc. But the parc is pretty. Nice to escape for a calming stroll however it was quite small.

A relatively small but calming Japanese style moss garden with exhibit halls showing paintings of a Japanese artist and also some ancient Japanese pottery. Parts of the garden were closed off and there was some repair works when I visited at the end of September 2024. There is also a small tea house where you can buy tea and a small snack to sit and admire the moss garden. As it was empty and looked dark inside, it looked closed and I didn’t go in. I took my time at this garden/museum and stayed around 1 hr 45 minutes. I would say if you’re the check-box type of traveller, an hour would be more than sufficient. There is free parking within 3 minutes walking distance of the entrance.

Came at start of March and sadly is not the right season to visit but nevertheless it’s a nice scenic place. Will up review to 5 star if I ever come back at the right season!

Went solely for the moss garden & fall color and WOW was it incredible. My favorite park I visited in Hakone. Especially beautiful if you can go on a partly sunny/sunny day to really see the vibrant greens of the moss. I also had the matcha set which was delicious! They were accommodating of my vegan diet and gave me a different sweet made of chestnuts, it was so tasty!

Hakone Museum is a wonderful experience, we stayed 3 nights, giving ample time to take a relaxed tour of the area, friends who day tripped from Tokyo wish they had stayed overnight, they also missed Pola Art Museum and that is also great. Staying anywhere along the cable car route will provide easy access from any of the Onsen Hotels. It’s very hilly so walking to restaurants is not easy, best eat in the hotels, relax and enjoy.
