"Enjoy Traditional Israeli Dishes One can find falafel on just about every street corner in Tel Aviv, but Hakosem, which means "the magician," is considered to be the best purveyor of the delicious fried chickpea balls. Opened in 2001, Hakosem is clean, colorful, and fun while still being authentic. No matter the time of day, the eatery is bustling with locals and tourists ready to try its trademark green falafel. Another of itssignature dishes is homemade hummus, which is made fresh throughout the day. Each plate is served with a fresh pita, onions, pickles, spicy hot pepper, garlic, and lemon sauce. Other staple Israeli dishes are also served, including shawarma, shakshuka (eggs cooked in a spicy sauce of tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic, and seasoning), sabich (pita filled with eggplant), salad, and chicken schnitzel."

This Stretch of Tel Aviv’s King George Street Has It All, from Falafel to Footwear

"Even with a branch of Eyal Shani's famed street-food restaurant Miznon down the street, the patio benches of Falafel HaKosem are always packed."

The 38 Best Restaurants in Tel Aviv | Eater

"Falafel can be found on just about every street corner in Tel Aviv, but Hakosem is in a league of its own, offering perfectly plump pita and deep-fried balls of chickpea mash studded with fresh herbs, alongside impeccably fresh salads. Also try the hearty shawarma or the Iraqi breakfast known as sabich — wedges of fried potato, golden eggplant slices, hardboiled eggs, and amba, a sunshine-yellow pickled mango sauce that seals the deal. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HAKOSEM! It was super busy but i found a place to sit and got their huge servings of hummus, friend eggplant, falafel, schawarma! Definitely too much food for one person, but i loved it! The hummus was spectacular! The falafels were green and crunchy! You get to make your salad and they have loads of sauces and tahina to dip your falafels! I dream of visiting again! My favorite spot in Tel Aviv🫶🏽❤️‍🔥

Best shwarma in a LONG TIME The ratings are well deserved. Long lines, but worth the wait. Meat excellent, lafa breads equally good and the house special deep fried eggplant is simply amazing. Top #3 in Israel imo

I’m hesitant to give a great review since it’s already pretty busy all the time and I frequent here. Omar is the best chef and if you can request him, it makes a difference the lawful and all the ingredients are top-notch in the value is exceptional. I think you won’t find a better bang for your shekel. Nothing fancy here lucky if you find a spot to sit, it’s gonna be very messy so have napkins ready

Come when hungry, the food portion sizes are enormous. The vibe is really great and the staff are amazing. Would highly recommend if in the mood for a shawarma, felafel and you find yourself in central Tel Aviv

Wow! Absolutely delicious gluten-free pita with a dedicated gluten-free area to prevent cross-contamination. The food is absolutely delicious. You can create your own shawarma. The service is impeccable.

Great Israeli street food served generously with extra love. The service is fast and efficient but keep in mind it's always crowded, there's always a line, and not enough sits so you might sit and eat at the same table with complete strangers.

Great food. It was quite loud, and I had a gread deal of difficulty understanding what the person preparing my food was asking, but I also have a difficult time singling out a particular voice when there's lot of noise around me, so that might not be a problem for everyone.

✨ The creator of this concept has truly mastered Middle Eastern cuisine, adding that unique Israeli touch that makes all the difference. 👏 A big bravo for such an achievement! 🍴 In my opinion, this is simply the best restaurant in Israel—refined, thoughtful, and brilliantly executed. 💡 And if the idea of opening another branch ever comes up, I’d be more than open for business.
