As a biryani and kabob fiend, I had been dying to try this spot. All I wanted was true, authentic Pakistani food. Actually, I think I always crave it; I go gaga over the street food vlogs in Pakistan :P. What can I say, the South Asian inside me desires some masala and aromatic goodness! We order beef biryani, chicken sheekh kabob, and raita online for pickup.
Raita: 1 out 5
I never thought I would ever be disappointed with raita (yogurt with masala and freshly chopped vegetables). For an extra charge, it came in a tiny sauce container. It was watery, it just looked it it was milky looking water. Sounds funny, but it was actually very disgusting. I think raita, in general should come with biryanis as default. Like, come on, don't rip people off with a charging an unreasonable price tag for a small quantity and quality that makes you question your establishment.
Chicken sheekh kabobs: 3 out of 5
They weren't as flavorful as I expected them to be. I definitely think they can be using more masala to saturate the taste of the dish. Additionally, they were a bit on the dry side of it. I expect kabobs to be moist and flavorful, but it definitely was neither of those things. That being said, it will get the job done of satisfying your cravings for kabobs.
Beef biryani: 4 out of 5
I was very much excited for the beef biryani, as it was my first time. I've had chicken biryani, vegetarian biryani, fish biryani, and mutton biryani. One thing to note if you're new to biryani, is that different South Asian region prepares their biryani differently. The reason why I was particularly excited about the beef biryani was because the one's I've had before as from more Hindu-based regions. Meaning, because cows are considered sacred in Hinduism, beef isn't cooked or eaten. Pakistan is predominantly Muslim, so eating beef is acceptable. I must say, I was not disappointed. In terms of the food from this establishment, the beef biryani was truly the saving grace. It was large in quantity. The rice itself wasn't too dry or too oily. They definitely could have more pieces of meat in there, but I'm not complaining. I had been craving biryani for days and this dish definitely hit the spot.
Service: 2 out of 5
As mentioned previously, food was ordered online for pickup ASAP. We got there about 45-50 minutes later and our order still was not ready! The staff went inside and said the food will be ready in 6-7 minutes, so we waited. We turned 10 minutes later and our food still wasn't ready. The staff checked the order and said they didn't receive the order. What? They had just told us 10 minutes ago that it was being prepared. So, we waited additional 20 minutes for our food. The staff seemed sorry and I really don't know what happened there. We were on a time-sensitive schedule, so we were annoyed by how the order was handled.
