"“East London’s Oldest Indian Restaurant” opened in 1939, and it has been serving almost the same menu since day one. The laundry list of dishes covers every imaginable variation of a korma, vindaloo, bhuna, jalfrezi, or gosht, and then some. Pretty much any order is a safe bet, be it a couple of grilled kebabs, a chicken madras, and a paneer tikka masala, or go for luxury in the style of a king prawn biryani, some lamb chops, and maybe even four naans. In keeping truer to its name, Halal, which confusingly used to serve alcohol, no longer does as of January this year. Halal Restaurant doesn’t feel dated, only timeless." - Maazin Buhari

Very very tasty food. Good hygiene. Cheap price. Good quantity of items. They provide water to drink and small portion of salad with food which we rarely get to see at others economical restaurant. They charge min 10% service charge, to max 30% service charge on final bill depends on customer wish. Toilets are slightly untidy.

Glad we found this hidden gem! The food and customer service was top notch. Highly recommend the meat biriyani and chicken tikka masala - it had a unique smokey flavour and wasn’t too sweet. See you soon.

Food was wonderful! Delay on phasing the appetizers had all the food delivered at the same time but the servers were great and price was very reasonable considering the quality of food. 10/10 recommend - wish our trip to London was longer to revisit.

Among my favorite Indian restaurants in London. Friendly staff. Simple interior. You can bring your own alcohol. Plenty of dishes to choose from and the waiters help you to make a good choice. Very fair prices.

Food quality is not that bad but very small portion given compared to their price. NOT returning tbh :/

Lovely little gem of a restaurant for some fine quality Indian food. If you want that authentic taste with that old school vibe this is the place. There Biryanis are delicious and you'll be coming back for more. Very friendly staff implementing covid-19 procedures very well. Highly recommend you have the Gulabjaman with ice cream dessert too ufff mouth watering delicious.

Fantastic Indian restaurant, great prices and very good service. It is the oldest Indian restaurant in East London! Menu includes a wide range of vegetarian options too. I like the fact that you can order half portions of some dishes so you can try different things.

Had dinner there last night... Was an old school Indian restaurant... Which I like... The food was really nice... And next time I'm in the area will go back
