Halal Smash Burger and Phillies (Western Avenue)

The ambiance left something to be desired; it felt a bit too sterile and lacked the warmth I typically enjoy in a dining setting. The decor was uninspired, which made the whole experience feel less inviting. However, the food was pleasantly surprising. The menu offered a variety of options, and while some dishes were just average, a few stood out as genuinely enjoyable. The flavors were well-executed, and the presentation was nice.

Halal Smash Burger & Phillies Review Location: near western and foster Ave Chicago IL Certification: HMS certified I was driving by the area and decided to check it out. It’s a simple corner location but parking is an issue. Side parking requires permits and Main Street parking is limited. I ordered the Chicago style smash burger fries and a drink. No combo meal deal. 🤷‍♂️ Burger: Chicago styles is a smash burger with Lettuce cheese onion tomato toppings ans their sauce. I’m a fan of potato bun and this did not disappoint. The meat itself was perfect in thickness. Not too thin. The flavor was subtle. Tasted fresh. 8/10. Fries: I ordered the seasoned curly fries. Unfortunately the fries were NOT good. They weren’t seasoned, Over fried and extremely hard/crispy. The bag it was in was soaking in oil. I couldn’t finish it. 2/10 Drinks: Pepsi products Overall: I was pleased with the burger. Will get it again in the future. Will try their Philly next time. Avoid the curly fries, will try the regular fries

Chicago Burger with egg & giardinera = fire Ordered tater tots fried hard so they're extra crispy. Great customer service and a clean restroom. Will be coming back.

Love this place would definitely go back burgers were fantastic and the sauce that they put on the top I didn't think I'd like it and it was really good taste

I usually never give 5 star reviews but this place is truly amazing. From the welcoming atmosphere to the halal food, this place does not disappoint. We came in on their lunch special where we got the Cheesy Sriracha burger, Philly Chicken, Crispy Chicken, and the 10pc peri peri wings, which all came with fries and a drink. Right off the bat, prices were good compared to other spots, about $45 total. The food took exactly 25 minutes, and just by the look of it we were amazed. Everything was hot and fresh! Shoutout to the two employees who made our visit 10 times better who had a great convo with us— we’ll be back! You could actually tell the employees cared about the food they make and the customers they served (since they gave us extra)! The employees themselves were very conversational, friendly, and made the food much more enjoyable. I’ll be coming back soon (but I’m gonna need a spicier option!)

I astral projected on the first bite. 5/5 service, and Mohammed did it all. He took the orders. He cheffed. He served the food. He smash the burger. He curl the fry. He pop the jalapeño. He took me to halal smash-town. 100% recommend.

Don't be dismayed by the unremarkable exterior of this place. The smash burgers were excellent! Buttery soft bun, big patty size and good quality meat, big round pickles and delicious smash sauce. Prices are surprisingly low for what you're getting. Skip the franchise burger places, and you can even skip the more well reputed smash burger places. I will be making this my new burger place!
