I live in the same building Halcyon is in so I had to try it! What I ordered was just a plain vanilla latte and the breakfast burrito. The coffee was actually pretty smooth and good. I wish it was steamed just a tad bit hotter so it would stay hot longer. The breakfast burrito was so good! The prices are a little on the higher side compared to other coffee shops/Cafe places but you get what you pay for and that's pretty good food and coffee. The atmosphere is really good. It has an open air/room style with the huge glass doors open. Also has outdoor seating. It's located across the street from Cal State San Marcos so there's a lot of college kid foot traffic. Overall I'd recommend the food for sure, if my burrito was delicious I'm pretty sure everything else is!

I stopped in at Halcyon because from the outside they have a very open and modern aesthetic that really caters to making a relaxing and uplifting environment. The employee working there, Oscar, was incredibly friendly and very comfortable to talk with, and the coffee I received was incredibly good in my opinion. The little cafe offers breakfast and lunch options from what I saw, as well as coffee and alcohol (including happy hours!), and they are aiming to be an ideal study/hangout place for anyone. They are open to 2:00AM and definitely have a positive vibe, but I worry that the unusually-high price point will be alienating to a lot of the college crowd that Halcyon undoubtedly wants to attract. My rating of four stars is based largely on first impressions and I cannot say whether the food or cocktails were good -- I only tried plain coffee, which was excellent. If money is not an issue, I recommend trying it, if even as a place to sit and chat for a while!

So, they tout "bottomless Mimosas" until 3pm; But when we went for brunch this passed weekend, we had two mimosas and they ran out! The staff informed us, (after we inquired, rather than sharing the info freely) that they had someone running to the store. About an hour later (when there is a store less than 5min from the restaurant) they brought back mimosas. They skipped filling ours and we waited another 20min, finally we had another round. This unfortunately was only for them to tell us that they ran out again, so it was "last call". Last call implies that you can get another, but this was sadly not the case. Additionally, "last call" was called an hour before bottomless mimosas were scheduled to end. There was four of us and we all ordered food, we had intended to order more food, but the fact that they ran out of mimosas detoured us from ordering more. The food was okay, above mediocre, but nothing to write home about. I had the chicken and waffles, and my waffle was very thin and dense. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience, especially because I really enjoyed the downtown location the last time I went. The idea of trying the new San Marcos was exciting, only to be pretty dissatisfying. Maybe they'll get it together, but only time will tell, and I am unlikely to return anytime soon.

Great coffee options and an amazing food menu as well! You can get any of tour standard coffee shop delights, mochas, cappuccino, espresso, etc as well as being able to order breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Dessert is also quite amazing here! Service has been outstanding as well with quick handling of any requests. The overall atmosphere is fun and energetic. Really great location! One of our new favorite hang outs.
