"Half & Half Good Old Time is a part of the Half & Half chain, but is run like an old-school Taiwanese cafe. The drinks, which contain crushed ice and honey boba, are not fancy but rather nostalgic and good. Drinks including toppings and boba are usually under $5." - Kristie Hang

Google
Agreed, this place def gives me a “good old time” feeling. Loves the retro style that totally reminds me of the old times eating in Taiwan. The restaurant itself is not big, there are only 4 or 5 tables. Good thing there are plenty of options on the menu for you to try out, we’ve tried a few items and all were great. Most importantly, all were pretty authentic! The reason why I take out one star is because that the portions there were relatively small compared to other Taiwanese restaurants around the area. Plus, a bit pricy too! Worth trying!

Google
Good food, in a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. It feels like being in a Taiwanese cafe- full of color, and liveliness. The popcorn chicken is especially good! Their servings are nice and small so you can order a few for sharing. Really enjoyed their signature noodle dish, and their spicy tofu! They have a vast menu of options, it’s hard to pick what to get! Overall everything is really tasty, they work very quickly and aren’t excruciatingly busy on the weekdays. Their ice milk is so good! So many great classics to enjoy here in an intentional space.

Google
Super authentic Taiwanese street food place. From entree braised pork soup and squid noodle soup to appetizer popcorn chicken and fish cake(tempura) are all delicious. They also provide a variety of spices powder and sauce for you to customize your dishes. The only thing not as impressed is the soy pudding because the peanut soup is diluted by the ice. However, overall a very pleasant dining experience and prices are reasonable. Definitely would recommend it if you are looking for authentic Taiwanese food.

Google
Decided to stop by this little restaurant for a quick bite to eat. You can order to go or dine in. If you're eating there, sit down and look at the menu and mark of what you want to order. Then take your order sheet to the front and give them your order and pay. Their rice bowls were good and the popcorn chicken was tasty. I'd go back.

Google
Really good nostalgic Taiwanese food! Made me happy to get some old classics and the inside decor is super retro and cute- reminds me of my grandparent's place. Favorite was the guabao but the turkey cold noodles are always a hot weather move :)

Google
This place gives good vibe of good old timew and very authentic Taiwanese food! The food is absolutely delicious. The portion may be small for male customers but perfect for me. Their milk tea is tasty as well.

Andrew

Google
Friendly staff and great food! Loved the rice bowls and the homemade Taiwanese sausages. They also have great drinks with perfectly chewy boba pearls. My favorite was the osmanthus milk tea.

Google
A taste of Taiwan's culinary heritage! From the first bite, I was transported back to the streets of Taiwan with their authentic flavors. The dishes were prepared with care and showcased the rich tapestry of Taiwanese cuisine. The cozy and cute environment added to the overall experience, making me feel right at home. Whether you're craving classics like beef noodle soup or adventurous street snacks, Half and Half Good Old Time is the place to be

Yelp
If you're ever craving some authentic Taiwanese food or desserts, this is the place to go! Everything about this place reminds me of my hometown in Taiwan. From the sauce trays at each table, to the decor on the walls, to the traditional stools at the counter, and the server uniforms. Not only does this place feel like Taiwan, but the food is on point. Everything here is delicious, but my favorites have to be the Minced Pork Pickle Rice, the Fried Combination, the Good Old Time Noodle Soup, and tender tofu with Thousand Year Egg. For their desserts - my go-tos are the shaved ice - absolutely delicious and they have so many choices of toppings you can add! And their Hot Grass Jelly on cold days. Parking can get a bit hard as the parking lot is small for the amount of restaurants in the plaza so arrive early during rush hour! Service is always great but sometimes they do get pretty busy which is understandable. All the servers at this restaurant are very accommodating and will go above and beyond to meet your needs. Overall this place is a 10/10 for food, drinks, experience, and service. Definitely one of my top restaurants!

Yelp
Half and Half Good Old Time is like a taste of Taiwan right in your neighborhood! Their mince pork rice is so good, it's a crime. The noodles? They'll make you question why you ever ate anything else. And their milk tea? Let's just say I've found my new addiction! If you want a delicious adventure and don't mind a little addiction, Half and Half Good Old Time is your spot! Four stars because I need to leave room for the amazing surprises they might have up their sleeve next time!

Yelp
I love coming here for their milk tea and pork minced rice! The combination of these two orders are to die for! I love how their milk tea is really potent-- Some could say it is similar to a Hong Kong milk tea in flavor, sweetness, and bitterness. I was also told that they don't use dairy products for their milk tea (sigh of relief for my lactose intolerant pals ). The pork minced rice is so simple yet so yummy! It is a small shop with the cutest aesthetic. I feel very much at home and warm when I come here. The color scheme and decor gives off a very vintage feel! The staff is always so welcoming! Also, as a heads up, they charge an extra percentage if you use your credit card.

Yelp
I've come to Half&Half Good Old Time a couple of times, and it definitely makes me miss Taiwan. Located right next to YukDaeJang, parking can be difficult during peak times, so you might have to park out in the street. This is an order & pay first, grab a table second establishment...However, if you want to review the menu first, they may tell you where you can sit and then you can mark their dry-erase menu with your selections. Things can add up fairly quickly, but I think their flavors are pretty authentically Taiwanese. -Good Old Time Chicken Nuggets is like popcorn chicken from the old TapEx/Quickly days. Served with some shrimp chips at your spice level choosing. -Taiwanese Sausage on a stick, this I'd skip next time...but the flavor was standard. -Spicy Tofu, Intestine, and Brown Cake. Honestly if they just had the tofu and intestines I would be a happy camper. It does have a slight kick, but isn't too spicy. -Cold Combination Plate, comes with tofu, pig ears, seaweed and tea egg & a garlic soy dipping sauce. -They have one of my favorite comfort food dishes: Minced Pork Noodle Soup, which I can't find anywhere else since the days of Old Country Cafe.... -TW Style Gravy Brown String Noodle Soup is with pig intestines & fish balls. It's one of my favorite dishes as well. It's like the Taiwanese mifen (rice noodles). YUM! Flavor reminds me of Nice Time Cafe's noodle soup. Service is fairly quick. Space can be kind of tight if you're sitting at a bar/counter seat, but the interior feels kind of like a small Taiwanese shop too. Hubby loves it. One unisex bathroom available in the back.

Yelp
The price for the how much food they give you is a bit pricey along with the 3.5% charge if you use credit card, but this pork belly was so tender I'm not even mad. It was so soft and full of flavor that I need to go back for it. The drinks are also very cheap compared to prices after inflation (All under $5) and very good. I got their osmanthus and a caramel iced milk drink when I went. Their honey boba here is still great quality and if I'm ever craving Half and Half, I'd go here The tables are a bit small, so maybe parties of 2-3 would fit, but not for big groups. I really recommend coming here for the food and drinks if you have a small party.

Yelp
I had not been here since the pandemic, and decided to get take out. So glad that I thought about Half & Half Good Old Time! I got my favorite--- the Minced Pork Pickle Rice, which was delicious, and just as I remembered it. Steamed rice bowl with flavored minced pork, soy sauce egg and yellow picked radish. I'm not a big eater, and although it doesn't look that big, it was just right for me for dinner. Absolute comfort food at it's best! I also got a boba milk tea, which was very good as well. Although I've only gotten take out here, it's the first time since the pandemic that I've seen people dining inside. It's a small place, but really cute and charming. There about 5 small tables, with a nice ambience. It would be fun to dine in some time! Service was also very quick and friendly. The young man who took my order also asked me if I'd like my milk tea "less sweet" to which I said yes. I had forgotten to make that request. All in all, great service and great food. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Food used to be better, not sure what happened. I didn't enjoy the food at all. Service sucked, they charge you 3% more if you use your credit card. I won't be back here anymore. The end.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Haven't tried the food yet but was excited to see what they offered. Decor is kitschy and retro. My go to drink is Bo's coffee low sugar. Drink sizes here seem smaller than other H&H locations which is a plus.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
I don't come here often but when I do it's always the same high quality food I remember. I love their popcorn chicken and it always comes with these crunchy rice puffs that I had when I was a kid. Their good old time soup is good but I would say it's probably not what you expect. It's very thick and not your typically liquid soup base. Nonetheless I think it's tasty and you should try it once! When you eat there, there are tables with short stools and hooks to hand your bags. You can easily access their sauce bar in the back with different seasonings and sauces to choose from. It's also really easy to pack your items to go.

Yelp
4.5 star overall rating coz I think it's overpriced. Otherwise, a straight 5-star for food, ambience, service. A nice cozy taiwanese restaurant in Mission Plaza. Modern decor, nice mix of 50-60's western oldies and esay listening asian music playing in the background. Staff was friendly and courteous. Credit card payment accepted but they add the transaction fee. Bring cash. Psrking in plaza or street parking available. Ordering is done at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. Prices are higher than other taiwanese restaurants I've been to. Guabao was $2 more than what I'm used to paying. But I have to say it was more delicious. Sweetness of teas can be adjusted to your preference. Fried pork chop was crispy but tender and juicy on the inside and it came pre-sliced which was convenient because cutlery was plastic and would have required some work for me . All in all, a pleasant experience.

Lilly C.

Yelp
I got the mixed pork rice after seeing the reviews it has on Yelp. I ordered the food and got it in less than 5mins. I thought that the portion was pretty small(finger to show the depth of the box). The rice was a little gummy, maybe they added too much water when cooking the rice, just to clarify it wasn't gummy from being mixed with the sauce, it was the rice itself. I also felt that the flavor from the meat was a little bland and too oily. The egg was over-cooked(the green rim on the yolk). When I finished there was a good amount of oil left. Total for the rice was $7.25 after tax. TLDR: food was a small portion, a little bland, and a little oily. Quick service

Tiff M.

Yelp
Traditional bite sized Taiwanese dishes! Even the interior is like an old Taiwanese restaurant, great vibes for lunch. Everything was very delicious and it's located in a very busy mall with lots of great Asian food options. We surprisingly really enjoyed the fish ball soup, it was rich and flavorful. The chicken noodle dish we got was more standard, but solid. Portions run on the smaller size! Will be back next time to try their teas and shaved ice!

Myra L.

Yelp
This was a favorite lunch spot until recently. 1. I wanted a side of pickles, charged me a $1 for the smallest side 2. This is the reason I won't be returning, I witnessed the cook not using gloves while preparing my food. I ordered chicken and rice dish. While he was adding garnish he did not use gloves, he grabbed the onions with his fingers and sprinkled on top. I did bring to the cashiers attention and they did remake my dish. This was only because I caught him. You are handling food, use gloves!

Winnie C.

Yelp
The servers attitude is very bad, they never told us when we pay with the credit card, it's charge the fee. The fee is more than 3% charge. They should let us know before we order. They are very ruled and said "this is not there charge, it's a card company charge". I asked them to talk to the manager and they said manager is not available now and the manager only work in the weekday. OMG..... This is a horrible service I never get.

Kimmie L.

Yelp
Been passing by this place numerous time and finally had a chance to try it. Came on Saturday morning and it was quiet. Was seated right away. To order you would need to go to the counter or they have menu that you can filled out. Their food was okay. It definitely made me reminiscing about my childhood. I missed the rice and pork. It's hard to find a place that still make this kind of flavors. Their popcorn chicken is definitely how I remembered it from my childhood. It was delicious. Though food was okay, the stars were mainly for their Taiwanese flavors of the pork and rice, and the popcorn chicken. Their menu seems to have many options. Would definitely like to try.

Zinnia V.

Yelp
Cheap food/snacks and good drinks! The inside has a cute old country cottage style interior that makes me feeel cozy inside :3

Yelp

Victoria T.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic food! Got their sweet potato fries, satay udon, and thousand egg tofu. All three were delicious. I grew up on half and half, and when I saw they opened a restaurant I had to go. I was so sad they didn't have their minced porkoek over rice when I went. I'm definitely coming back to try that next time.

Lili C.

Yelp
This place is adorable. It is cute, cozy, and colorful with vintage furniture and decorations. (I have those Small World figurines!) I can't comment too much on the food because we've only been here once, but we notice that the prices are lower and the portions are smaller. Cute little plates. Which is a nice change because everywhere you go there is just usually way too much food. This felt just right. And you can order that extra appetizer/snack without bursting.

Christine L.

Yelp
Came here for the food and the shaved ice. Left dreaming about the shaved ice. The only food thing I would re-order is the Fried egg bing thing. i dont know what its called bc my taiwanese dad ordered it for me, lol. but the shaved ice. YUM. I love that you can customize your toppings. will come back for the shaved ice with friends.

Krissy K.

Yelp
Pros - A variety of small taiwanese snacks including Sweet Corn Soup and Tender Tofu w/ Thousand Year Egg. I got the Minced Pork Pickle Rice which had a lot of flavor and very filling! Come here to get your Taiwanese fix! Cons - 4% transaction fee to all credit and debit card transactions.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Half & Half Good Old Time is one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat. The menu is stacked with so many delicious options that it's hard to choose just one! The best part is that they have a picture menu option that you can ask for, making it easy to visualize what you're ordering. They also have a bunch of self-serve sauce and spice pairings that allow you to customize your meal to your liking. The bag of popcorn chicken is a must-try and is always stacked with juicy pieces. The seating is great for both small and large groups, with options for parties of 4 or 6, as well as bar-style seating. You can order to go at the counter or sit for table service. One thing to note is that they do bus their own tables, so make sure to leave a tip. I would skip on the hamburger as it's pretty standard, but everything else on the Yelp top food suggestions list is amazing.

Marc N.

Yelp
I came to try the drinks but it seems like people come here for the food and the shaved ice, so I'll have to come back. I only ordered boba. I got the coffee milk tea, half sweet, less ice, with boba and it was decent. 6/10. Boba had good chew and soaked in brown sugar. The ambiance is pretty cool, it's old school and feel like we're sitting on bad chairs at a table. I love it. It just doesn't warrant 4 stars.

Ella H.

Yelp
The authentic, nostalgic Taiwanese snacks are always so soothing and satisfying to my hunger for hometown! I really like the minced pork rice and Taiwanese sausage they have. The starchy soup is on the sweet end but the ingredients are so good and of great quality. Come and enjoy a light meal in the 50's - 60's Taiwanese romance -- it's the venue where the generation of my parents will go on a date.

Alice C.

Yelp
Really home-y feeling if you're missing taiwanese food! Got the spicy tofu with pork blood cake, sweet potato fries, noodle soup, and the chicken rice- all were really good and authentic! They even give you extra plum powder and all the typical condiments that pairs well with Taiwanese food (vinegar, white pepper, garlic sauce, etc.) Only regret is that we made the mistake of trying to stuff ourselves with as many Taiwanese food San Gabriel has to offer so we were too stuffed to order the whole menu by the time we tried Good Old Times

Annie C.

Yelp
I usually come here for their drinks. The drinks are pretty consistent, although occasionally the tea is a bit strong for me in the fruit tea. I normally get the almond milk tea and guava tea. Their honey bobas are always perfectly chewy -- not too hard and not too soft. The drinks only come in one size, so for those who like to get their drinks large, you won't be able to. The drink prices are lower compared to other boba shops. The restaurant is on the small side with three or four tables that only seat four each. There's also counter seating. Occasionally I order the popcorn chicken which is pretty good and they have shaved ice! The only downside is there's an extra 3.5% charge on credit cards. Very good place for boba and Taiwanese snacks.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Half and Half is such an OG boba place; whenever I think the 626 area and boba, I immediately think of Half and Half. I always get the Iced Milk Drink with Egg Pudding and Honey Boba, or the milk tea with the same toppings. The tea is very strong, so beware if you're sensitive to caffeine. The iced milk drink hits so hard on a hot day, but it is a classic anytime I'm in the area. I particularly enjoy this location because the drink is a normal size for a reasonable price and it is very consistent. The drinks feel like they come out instantly as long as it's not a smoothie. It also gives old Taiwanese cafe vibes, which is a mood. Parking can be a little difficult because there are a few popular restaurants in the plaza, but a spot should appear within a few loops around the plaza parking.

Kara L.

Yelp
I finally tried this half & half after someone recommended it to me. It's located in the same plaza as Bon Chon. Decent availability for parking spots since the lot is an average size. This half and half isn't your ordinary half and half tea express. This one includes a sit down for food instead of the regular grab and go boba. The boba selection is also smaller and limited. The drinks are a little cheaper due to it being one size and it's in a smaller size cup. There's a few tables inside to sit but overall it is a small place in general. I only tried their milk tea and I would definitely recommend it, if you like your milk tea a bit on the stronger and bolder side. The milk tea is also more thick and creamy than the usual milk tea from elsewhere. The price was $3.18

Maria C.

Yelp
Don't let the small bowls fool you into thinking it's not filling enough, both of us were full with our rice bowl orders and thoroughly enjoyed the combination fried snacks to share. Boba quality is still top notch and service is fast and friendly. Glad to see welcoming faces quick to share information and confirm your order, shout out to Sumin for making sure we were getting our orders we're exactly what we wanted. The small tables are cramped and homey much like the parking lot in the plaza that shares other popular restaurants. Try parking on the street as a backup.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Small restaurants that serves delicious taiwanese snacks. Cute interior decor. There were about four tables that seats four people and a few bar style seating. You order on the menu with a dry erase marker, take it to the counter to pay. Food is brought out to you. You have to serve yourself water and extra utensils if needed. All the food was really good and served steaming hot. I would get everything I got again with the exception of the hamburger.

Rita C H.

Yelp
Food is very good but the service very poor. I hadn't eaten here for many years and we were offered a table to sit. But, no one offered any help. I looked around but none of the employees acknowledged me or made eye contact with me. I had to figure out on my own how to order. The employees were busy chatting among themselves. They paid you no attention so it was difficult to get service. I looked to them to get help but they just did not (want to) pay attention. I hate having to say "excuse me" to get service but that was what I had to do because they did not anticipate my needs at all.

Alex P.

Yelp
The shredded chicken rice is good. There's some oil on the rice but not too fatty. Also some garlic sauce on top which is also a nice surprise. I also got a pork belly sandwich. I asked the waitress if the meat is fatty on this and she said no. The sandwich I got had pork belly pieces that were very fatty, and I said, I thought she said it wasn't going to be very fatty. Then I received a few not fatty ones, which was good.

Adrian G.

Yelp
Good place to hang out, chill music, tasty food and drinks! Excellent service! Ebi katsu is a must try and the popcorn chicken

Elena C.

Yelp
Thick and bitter tea, sweet boba, the right amount of milk (if you ask for less milk), this makes the perfect milk tea. Not too sweet that felt like dessert, but sweet enough that it's a delight for a hot day.

Magda N.

Yelp
This half&half is the same chain as the popular one. But they also serve Taiwanese comfort meals & snacks. The food are pretty reasonable too and they taste delicious. Lots of people come here for the food instead of the boba. Most popular items are probably minced pork or pork belly w/ rice. They are filling and like the good ol' time, they serve everything on stainless bowls. The snacks are good too and their serving is pretty big. The chicken nugget on the menu is popcorn chicken. They are juicy and delicious and big bites, meat to flour ratio is very good. The calamari is good too. The fried snacks are served with shrimp crackers. Their drinks are cheaper b/c they serve smaller cups. They have seats & booths inside and the vibe is like we're in some old town traditional restaurant. They have to go bowls, sauces, and pickles on the table next to the restroom.

Terrance Y.

Yelp
Half the price twice the fun! This is by far my favorite Half and Half locations. The decor is much more interesting. There is an actual vibe here (old school Taiwanese feel) versus just the generic boba shop setting all across SGV. The food is good too. If anything, just the nostalgic factor of seeing the menu on the wall gives me the feels. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I'll be visiting soon! Just double check the hours. I always get tripped up that they're closed on Tuesday.

Alex Y.

Yelp
The food here is delicious, but that's not all - the adorable decorations add a touch of whimsy that creates a truly charming atmosphere. Can't wait to return for another great experience!

Becky L.

Yelp
Wow!!!! You guys had me at Hello!!!! I Have been to this plaza before due to Taipei Bistro next door. I'm already craving Popcorn Chicken....going back for Round2 on the same day. I think due to Lunar New Year, I get traditional Taiwanese food cravings back..... I guess I arrived in a perfect time? There was no line and the cashier was very friendly and super efficient. Please keep up the great work. Just as I'm writing this review, I will head back for their popcorn chicken to go. For today's lunch~I ordered, 'Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice,' and 'Yogurt Green tea with no ice.' That was a fantastic combo. It came out to be reasonably, $9.44 with tax. I've got me a newfound favorite cafe in the City of San Gabriel, which neighbors Arcadia where I work. Way to go, Half and Half Good Old Time Cafe of San Gabriel. Was going back to 'Why Thirsty,' but they are closed on Mondays. See you in a bit, 'Half and Half Good Old Time' Cafe of San Gabriel....you made my day.

Jack L.

Yelp
Too bad I don't live in SoCal. If I lived within 30 minutes of this fine restaurant, I would be here every other day! My party ordered several dishes and every one reminded me of being in Taiwan. The turkey rice dish taste just like the famed dish from Jiayi. The tomato / plum juice brought back childhood memories from decades ago, when street vendors peddled sliced tomato cherries with candied plum in between. Prices are very reasonable. Will make a point to stop here on every SoCal trip from now on!

Trewen W.

Yelp
This is peak taiwanese food. Love the aesthetic too, it's like those old school dining plazas in taiwan! The food is great. Good price for a solid amount of food. Gotta get the rice noodles and the beef rice bowl. The coffee milk tea was really nice and refreshing too! Perfect balance between coffee and tea. If you're in the area, gotta check them out for some taiwanese comfort food.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Originally we were gonna tryout the Katsu place on the corner of the plaza but they were closed so we stopped by this place for our plan B. 1. The ambiance was unique with all retro themed vib. I really liked it. 2. The service was mediocre. It seemed evident that the entire staff lacked enthusiasm for their work. 3. One of the reasons we opted for takeout instead of dining in was because we didn't feel at ease or comfortable. 4. We had picked out few items and drinks to go. Upon arriving home, we unpacked our food and were pleased to find it beautifully presented in attractive to-go containers. Both of our dishes were delightful, with my personal favorite being the pork belly dish, which was served in a satisfying portion size for me. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his curry as well. Despite the unwelcome service, the overall experience with the food was exceptional.

Tiffany A.

Yelp
This place is small but don't let size fool you. It's always fast and consistent when I crave boba. - once you order, they tell you to wait outside and they call your order # once ready I always get a regular boba milk tea and sometimes add egg pudding. The fried calamari is good here-- not super breaded. Card is accepted with no fee which is a plus. There's only 6 small tables that would fit 4 people each and a small bar stool sitting area.

Jason L.

Yelp
This spot is a comfy and Irreverant diner type spot for good food, drinks, desserts and conversation. It's only got say 6 tables and a long counter. Service is efficient and the food is good. I would say most things are tapas sizes but the fries were excellent and a huge portion. Will come back and this plaza also has some other great eats. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is quite extensive so staff is ready to guide with recs. Thought it was appropriate to share some photos of the decor. Parking looks like it can get busy. But came here during weekday off hours

Jason F.

Yelp
I think in a sea of plentiful Taiwanese food around the area, Half & Half Good Old Time falls very short. The foods doesn't have the wow factor and the price is expensive for all the snack size portions.

Vivian A.

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is moderate size. They share the lot with several other establishments, so the lot can be full pretty quickly and easily during peak business hours. Some parking spaces are smaller than others. Food: I ordered the spicy ground pork dry noodles. It's really bomb. The noodles were very soft and chewy. Love the fact that they added mung bean sprouts to make this dish crunchy. The spicy ground pork actually wasn't all that spicy for me. The touch of cilantro was neat too. The Average size portions. Good prices. Can't complain. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, kind, and courteous. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Yelp
Service is great, the food tastes good. This is the closest place where you can eat authentic Taiwanese food/snack in the US. Price is decent compared to prices out there nowadays. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
We have been coming to this place ever since they opened several years ago, and have never been disappointed. Well, we stopped by this place for a quick lunch today, and the food came quickly. Staff was also friendly, so everything was fine....until it was time to pay. I was asked to pay at the counter, which was not a problem. At which point I was told that there would be an additional 4% credit card fee, which I don't remember paying during previous visits. Fine, I'll pay the 4%. Then the big surprise came - they are charging me a "dine-in" fee (something like a dollar something). Seriously? You've already raised the prices recently after Covid, but now you want to make another dollar for customers who want to come in and eat? Well guess what, I don't think I'll be coming back. This "dine-in" fee just shows how greedy you are. It also shows you have no regards for your staff - because people who like your food will now just order takeouts, once they are made aware of your poor business practice. Take out orders mean no dine-in fee for you, and no tips for your staff. Does this make you and your staff happy now? Why stop there? Charge for utensils, napkins, extra plates, using the restrooms, and bill preparation. Keep adding ridiculous charges until all your old customers stop coming.

Yelp
I've been coming to Half & Half Gold Old Time for many years and for the longest time it was my go-to secret spot that I loved so much. I loved that it was affordable, no-frills, homey feeling and most importantly, delicious. However lately, after the recent "renovations" they did a few months ago in August when they shut down for a few weeks, I feel like I'm eating at a whole new restaurant This place literally feels like a budget airline now. There are multiple signs everywhere in your face informing you of additional fees. Want to dine in? Additional fee. Want to pay with credit card? Additional fee. Want to make your drink hot instead of cold? Additional fee. Your child makes an exorbitant mess? Additional fee. You want extra pickles with your food? Additional fee. (Used to be unlimited & free!!) It's just too confusing, either raise your prices to accommodate for everything or don't implement all these additional fees at all. Also they fired all their old staff and now have all these new young kids working, most of whom can barely speak Mandarin or know the ins & outs of the menu. There used to be these nice girls who worked there who were so efficient and knowledgable about all their dishes, and now they're all gone. I have no clue why they fired everybody but it really makes me sad to see all those girls go, especially since they have been there for years and through a pandemic. The quality of their food is inconsistent now, I feel like depending on the day and who is cooking some days the food is as good as before and some days it is just okay. Overall I will keep coming because I love their menu, but I'm deeply upset by all the changes that have been put into place. It no longer feels comforting to be there after the implementation of all the new stingy fees & removal of previously free perks such as pickles. It used to feel like I was eating at a friend's home but now it feels like I'm flying on Spirit Airlines when eating there.

Yelp
(DRINK) I really REALLY like Half and Half so my review might be biased. I would rather be dumped by the girl of my dreams than to have this chain close down. That's how much I like Half and Half. I try random drinks but my go to is their regular milk tea and brown sugar milk tea with boba. Half and Half's boba is just SOOOOOO good. It always comes out so fat, warm, and chewy. It's very consistent. This location serves smaller cups at around 3 bucks so it's good for people who dont want to sip tea for 10000 hours. We all know how fat a regular Half and Half cup can be. (FOOD) I've only tried their pork belly and minced pork rice. For the price of around 6 bucks it ain't bad. It's like a lil snack. ( : (SERVICE) On point af. (PLACE) This place has crap parking like wtf? How are you going to dedicate 2 spots for a Half and Half? The decor has a very warm and cozy aesthetic and the bathroom is pretty nice. (VERDICT) I give this place 1000/5. Best boba ever. If you don't like it you either got the wrong drink or you just have bad taste. Or both. If you disagree I will fight you to the death.
