Half & Half

Tried Half & Half in Massachusetts for brunch around 10:40–11:00, and the place was packed and pretty noisy. The music choice was… interesting, but it did keep the energy up. I ordered the W.T.F (Waffles Tender Fries). The chicken tender was thin but crispy, and while the flavor was lacking, for the price they really could’ve included three pieces. The Belgian waffles were dense, and the waffle fries were overcooked and tough, like they’d been left in the fryer too long. The coleslaw was fresh with a nice zest, but overall the dish didn’t feel worth the cost — a 5/10 for me. The Philly cheesesteak, on the other hand, was great. Good portion size, flavorful, and paired well with the steak fries. Definitely the better choice — 7.7/10. Overall, food was hit or miss, atmosphere was lively but loud, and for the price point, I expected a bit more.

All I can say is... WOW!!! Everything about this place was simply fantastic! We are visiting from out of town and happened upon this place because of the already great reviews. The service was awesome with super friendly staff that check up on you consistently. The Owner and the Chef both came to our table to ask about our experience and make sure we were happy. The chef takes great pride in his work and it shows in his attitude but most importantly, in the food! I've never raved so much about a breakfast! 10 out of 10! The special "Halloween Pancakes" which were made with dragonfruit were amazing to say the least! The chef even makes his own flavored butters and we talked them up so much when he came over that he gave us 4 cups full of it to take home with us! If you're ever in the area make sure you stop here for a fantastic meal!

Great service, friendly staff and amazing food. We had the crunchy French toast and the eggs benedict. Both of them were cooked perfectly. Fresh orange juice squeezed on site and a live omelet bar. Fun place to eat and a good price. Get there early since its very popular!

We were traveling on vacation and had to try this restaurant because their 5 rating (at the time) with 400+ reviews was proof they were doing something right. During our visit, I witnessed a master class in customer service. The owner and staff recognized regulars and automatically put in their orders. When they recognized newbies, (like us) the owner visited the table and walked through the menu making recommendations based on our tastes. I saw him do this with three other tables while we were there. Given his recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash and a side of bacon. My wife had the fruit crepe. The chef brought out the food and personally thanked us. I noticed the chef delivering the food to multiple tables while we were there--a very nice touch. And speaking of the food--it was delicious! At one point, I dropped my napkin and before I could lean down and pick up the one I had dropped, one of the staff brought me a new napkin and took mine away. My coffee cup was never below half-full. The experience and customer service was phenomenal. After the meal, we waited to talk to the owner (Isaac) again before leaving. I wanted to thank him given the wow factor and experience they had given us. If we lived in the area, we would absolutely be regulars! What a wonderful human with an amazing positive and friendly attitude that has infected the whole team at the restaurant. If you are in the area, I can't recommend this place enough! And if you become a regular, they will put your picture (with your permission) on the wall as recognition--and presumably to help new employees recognize the regulars. If your experience was as good as ours, make sure and let them know by ringing the bell on the way out!

The best french toast I've had in a very long time. The perfect crispy outside and gooey middle, I'm sure the specialty french toasts are just as delicious. Staff was friendly and inviting and had menu suggestions. Smaller place made it very loud due to many happy guest. Wish I lived closer to try the other yummy sounding menu items!

I really did love this place. They claim to have the best hash in New England and that claim is solid. It is up there but I had one even better the following week. That doesn't take away from the quality of their excellent hash though. Also, their coffee is out of this world. Amazing coffee. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is a great diner and highly recommended stop in the area!

While traveling from North Carolina, we received a recommendation to try Half & Half and it absolutely lived up to our expectations. The food and service were outstanding. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home, like a part of a family. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area! A special shout out to Mr Isaac for his hospitality!!

This place was amazing. Clean fast friendly staff. Being from out of state didn't know what to expect. Don't let walking in confused ya ... food was fresh great tasting and quickly served . I had the huevos rancheros a great plate , the coffee hit the spot also . Didn't catch any of the employees names but all of them made sure we were topped off on coffee at every opportunity. Fresh baked item make by moms were delicious. I would definitely hit the family friendly place every time I'm in town .

The staff, I think owner, was so attentive. He took our baby's order right away and got that going while we hade coffee and decided. We were very happy with our meals - custom omelet and a filled crepe. The baby enjoyed the fish tank. The place is really cute. We will go back. They were good to donate to a recent charity auction so I wanted to give them some business.

On the "Good-Meh-Suck" scale, this was a meh. Local joint. FIRST TIME TIP- just wait in line. They don't take your name. The locals were pissed when we went in and made some rude comments instead of telling us the deal. Was it worth the wait? Not really. Nothing spectacular. Decent. Had to ask for items ordered and not delivered twice including after the bill came. Got a to go box. Water was rarely filled. Service was polite but slow. Not going back. Sorry.

What an amazing little find! Seated quickly, great price and serving sizes BUT more importantly, THAT HASH!! Well done! Definitely will be back.

Amazing food and better service Isaac was great! I enjoyed the Juevos Rancheros and the pancakes were outstanding.

" Huevos rancheros with fresh avocado, Whoa ! Oh man this place is rocking . Staff is bubbly and welcoming. I had a great time here . The food we got tasted fresh and being Hispanic I can vouch the " Huevos Rancheros " were spot on , NVM ( never mind delicious) and fresh . They put a whole fresh avocado on top , you don't see that much , so yum ! The coffee is fresh and tastes fresh . My coffee mug was never empty? Service is great ! I can say this is a great spot , we definitely will be back . Prices are great for the quality and quantity. Yum , Yum ! Parking is difficult but manageable. Wait time is not bad at all . The vibe is swell., and just plain old fun.

Always fabulous! If you love their breakfast or brunch you must try their other restaurant Zucca! Issac and his team do it all fantastically!

Amazing gluten free options!! I got the eggs benedict. They also do pancakes, french toast, and basically anything on the menu. A really small diner, with limited seating first come first serve. There's no waiting area and you have to wait in the small doorway but the employees are really nice, it's very efficient, and worth the wait! The food was so delicious I can't wait to go back. Only complaint was that we sat at the table right by the door, and the people waiting to be seated were standing holding the door wide open, and it was 25 degrees outside lol

Best hash on the North shore and service that makes you want to come back!!! Great atmosphere too. Love this place!!!! You won't be disappointed.

Visiting Massachusetts and was taken to this restaurant for brunch. Omg! The food was excellent and the owner, Isaac was awesome! He constantly checked up on us and if he offers to make something special for you...GO FOR IT!!! I would definitely return.

We ordered the hash and the savory waffle. Both were fantastic! Service was phenomenal! We definitely rang the bell on the way out!

The huevos rancheros tasted better than most restaurants here in San Diego ca which was wild as hell since we have so many Mexicans here. The French toast was also super good. They even made an iced mocha coffee for me that was no longer on the menu. The service was some of the best I have seen in years, keep in mind I eat out probably 5 to 10 times a week. Everyone in the restaurant was very polite, I loved it

Was visiting Boston looking for a place for Sunday brunch n found half and half on Yelp, nice clean restaurant. Not fancy . Located in the heart of reading less than 5 mins from I 95. Friendly staff. We had the fruit crepe, hueveros ranchos n oat meal w toast n home fries. The fruit crepe was delicious w strawberries n blueberries n bananas. The hueveros rancheros was delicious w avocado. Loved the oat meal w cinnamon. V crunchy . Thank you for a great brunch. Will be back next time when we r in the area.

What a find! Such an outstanding restaurant for breakfast! We went with a group and we all thought the food was delicious! The atmosphere, and the top notch attention from Isaac, made the experience even better!!

Great friendly hosts /servers and atmosphere . It was clear that this place is a popular local joint . I got the turkey club sandwhich, but I think this is the only place this restaurant fell a little short for me. Their house fries are fantastic, their coleslaw is a little creamy for me , but many people like that . The sandwhich , however was mostly disappointing and it comes down to the meat and cheese used. While the bacon was crisp and delicious and the bread and tomatoes and lettuce were fine , the meat and the cheese were below expectations. The turkey was presliced salty deli meat I would expect at a grab and go gas station sandwich , and only one or two thin slices on the each layer, as if it were a slice of cheese . Speaking of which, the American cheese is indeed the yellow American, as advertised , but the cheddar was basically white American cheese with little distinct flavor . Cabot's cheddar this was not . I would have preferred just Swiss cheese instead of these two preprocessed cheese slices. It looked like other people were having great food , and I'd like to give this place another chance if I come by this way again (maybe the burgers or the eggs are better by the looks of other people's meals). However I can't recommend the turkey club... which just wasn't good enough to finish. Service was friendly by a little slow to realize I needed a check well after I was done .

My friend and I stopped here on my trip so she could have breakfast. It's a small restaurant but very inviting. Service was top notch. Servers were personable and outgoing. My friend enjoyed her eggs Benedict while I had the chocolate chip muffin. The waiter suggested toasting it on the grill. It was super good and a large muffin. Would suggest stopping by if you are nearby.

I feel blessed. I can get on Yelp and find all kinds of outstanding breakfast spots within 15 minutes of my house. And that's exactly how we located H&H for the very first time just recently. Located right on Main St. in Reading in front of several parking meters, plus easily accessible nearby lots and side streets comes yet another classic early morning spot I hope is open for decades. Walk in and be greeted by the most vibrant, smiling brekky faces the world has ever seen! The entire mural is simply adorable and will keep you happy the entire time, apparently a local artist did it and may be a relative of the owners. High tops and low tables will greet you, we are still in that high chair phase so we were up towards the front next to the omelette station. And while I'm sure their lunch items are yummy alone, we were here and will probably always be here for those dishes usually served before 10 AM. My kids absolutely devoured their french toast and they can be pretty picky about it at times. They also loved the side of hash browns, which was an add-on to this particular dish. I got the huevos rancheros after spotting a few Yelp photos in advance and my wife had the crepes. She said it was a little light on the fruit but overall very tasty. The rancheros had a good kick to it, the tostada was super crispy and help up well with all of the toppings and it was loaded with beans and a bunch of other goodies. A nice touch was the avacado on the side. Service was OUTSTANDING. This older gentleman joked with us the entire time, gave us a brief background about the owners, how long it has been open (one year) etc. Just everything about the experience was perfect and we may just have a new king in town for an early morning greasy spoon!

Half & Half is our new go-to breakfast spot, though we haven't yet made it for lunch. The corned beef hash is unlike any I've had before, and the hash browns actually taste like potato (and not grease). We have felt like dear friends from the first time we ate there this summer, and have brought everyone who visits us there. The atmosphere is clean and convivial, and can get pretty loud when busy, but that's part of its charm.

Amazing breakfast. The spices on the breakfast potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. Service was super friendly and quick. Just a fantastic place for the whole family to have breakfast at.

We stopped by Half & Half for breakfast and were blown away by how awesome this place is! The service, food, and ambiance is 10/10. My coffee mug was never empty and the staff is SO kind and bubbly. The Eggs Benedict had perfectly poached eggs with a rich hollandaise, and the hash browns were phenomenal. I am so glad we stumbled upon this gem and will definitely be back!

Great little diner with a unique twist on our favorite comfort foods. The fries look like chips. We really wanted to try a savory waffle and a bunch of other dishes but we're just passing through. Too bad. It all looks really good and interesting. There's cricket playing on the TV. And so much more. A unique diner experience.

A bit chaotic breakfast place with a touch of Indian cuisine. The quality is kind of OK with incredibly cheap prices. Plenty of street parking.

Popular place and I can see why! As soon as you walk in, you can feel the joy and coziness. It's a wonderful vibe and the staff are incredibly gracious and kind. Best avocado toast I have ever tried! The fruit bowl side was so fresh and a an assortment of fruit. Presentation is wonderful especially for the price point. My husband is a picky eater, he ordered the eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns and ate every bite. We will definitely be returning! Highly recommend arriving early as this place gets busy especially on the weekends.

What an amazing experience here, first time wife and I came and we will DEFINITELY BE BACK!! The food we had was nothing short of phenomenal, the Corned Beef Hash was cooked from a whole brisket not canned like most breakfast places use, the Huevos Rancheros had fresh salsa, and fresh (not canned) Beans. Flavors exceeded our expectations, and so did the welcoming and friendly, fast service, Coffee was always full without asking. Ambiance is comforting, sports on TV and soft music playing in the background, Isaac is such an amazing host, total personality and makes you feel as if you were with family. Thank you Staff, we will see you soon!

Amazing! Out for mid morning breakfast...seared by the owner, so friendly and accommodating, but the food! House made corned beef with egg side.Came with two hash browns, The beef is house made over two days per the chef. So good! Also an order of fruit crepes, filling was perfect, creamed cheeses and a touch of maple syrup. Fresh fruit Plate to die for. Can't say enough good things about this place. Go now!

New to the area, this place has been a delight. Clean, friendly, super fresh and delicious food. We have tried almost evening. My husband likes the Huevos Rancheros and I'm particular for the Avocado Toast. Our son loves the pancakes with their homemade chocolate butter. We both love the coffee. (His hot, mine iced) We look forward to our weekly visit.

Not great. I was excited when I saw all the great reviews because good breakfast places in the area are few and far between. This place doesn't live up to the hype. The hollandaise sauce was sour on the Bennie but the potato hash browns were fantastic. The sausage looks like brown-and-serve which I hate but my wife was not sure. Eggs were good. The burger was very good but the waffle fries were dry and hard. They ran out of orange juice, a real disappointment. The coffee was bad, institutional swill. Service was slow but they were busy. We had different people for each visit to our table. Having to flag down someone for more coffee always sucks. The tables are crammed together so much so that my wife had to sit in the isle. Don't be greedy, remove one of the tables to give the others proper room. So overall not really good so we won't be back.

I just stopped by for a quick lunch and found the food, the atmosphere, and the staff all incredibly lovely. Had an impossible burger (a newer item I was told) and it couldn't have been better! The half and half fries....AMAZING! Do not miss 'em! The staff was so friendly and seemed committed to ensuring I had a good experience. I will be coming back and telling all my friends about this spot! Highly recommended!

Talk about DELICIOUS! It's hands down the best avocado toast I've ever tasted, bursting with flavor! My husband has tried their hash and eggs Benedict and has enjoyed every single dish. The atmosphere was fantastic, and our server was incredibly friendly. We'll definitely make a special trip every time we head to mass just to eat here!

They delivered toast about 10 mins before the eggs. Very strange. So it was cold by the time I got my eggs which were way underdone. I asked for over medium and got runny whites. Nasty. I asked then to remove the eggs from my bill and they did. But definitely won't be back if a breakfast place can't even do eggs correctly.

This restaurant is wonderful for breakfast & lunch. Bacon was perfectly crispy and non greasy. The French toast was moist and fragrant (we inhaled it so no photo). Waffle was fluffy and crispy. Issac, Shawn, and chef Joseph were super nice and friendly. We found our new fav casual breakfast joint in Reading. I'll have to stop by and try your avocado BLT off the menu since your bacon is so yummy. LOL Thank you guys.

Such a cute breakfast stop! The service was incredible and the owners are personable, funny, and undeniably hardworking. Was recommended their famous corn beefed hash and it did not disappoint!

I have been frequenting Half and Half two to three times a week since they opened nearly two and a half years ago. I have never had a bad experience with the menu and I have had everything on their menu many times over. When I have had a comment or a question Joseph responds immediately and if a correction is needed there is no problem. I will admit to being slightly prejudiced, but the staff is incredibly welcoming. They have become my family. Huevos Rancheros is a Sunday Breakfast favorite. And, being a Philadelphia boy, I will say that their Philly Cheese Steak is great. Like any restaurant, there will be those who are disappointed, but I can tell you from experience they are few and far between. If you decide to give H&H a try, tell them "Mr. Richard" recommended it. Isaac and the gang will make you feel very welcome.

You have to have the crunchy french toast. It's amazing. Huevos rancheros tasted fresh and delicious too. Service was quick and everyone was friendly.

This is the sweetest little business. Issac is so kind and always very welcoming. We go every Sunday after church, and he is always there to greet us and now remembers our drink orders. It gets very busy especially for weekend breakfast, but the food is worth the wait. I love the build your own omelette bar and fresh squeezed orange juice.

This great little breakfast cafe has become a weekly routine for my wife and me. I don't know where to start other than to call out the fresh, delicious food, variety of the menu, and the friendly staff. I've been fortunate to travel the world and have seen fine dining at its best, from cozy to posh. For the overall experience, Isaac and his team position themselves at the top of the list!

AMAZING! Everything from walking in to sitting down was great. Service is personable and makes you feel right at home. But the food! OMG! The hash was sooo good, and the crunchy French toast was to die for. Cute cozy feel definitely a hidden gem.
