How to Visit Highlands, North Carolina — America's Best Mountain Town

"The sister property to Old Edwards Inn, Half-Mile Farm is billed as a 'Napa-style setting and inn' on 14 acres of lush North Carolina beauty. It’s a decidedly romantic retreat, thanks to its adults-only rule and location just outside downtown Highlands. Each guest room and suite can be described as rustic-chic with touches of luxury, although you’ll have a slightly different experience if you choose to stay in the historic inn, the courtyard, a cabin, or one of the Woodland Suites; the latter is outfitted with fireplaces, heated marble bathroom floors, soaking tubs, balconies, and wet bars." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This property is absolutely gorgeous—immaculately maintained and clearly designed with care and attention to every detail. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely eager to make our stay enjoyable. The setting is peaceful and relaxing, with beautifully kept grounds that invite you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Breakfast was served fresh and delicious, adding an extra touch of hospitality each morning. We also appreciated the shuttle service to town, which made exploring stress-free and convenient. Overall, a truly special place that balances charm, comfort, and thoughtful service. We can’t wait to return!

This is our three visit to Half Mile Farm. Just when you think it couldn’t get any better, it does! How perfect to start each day with a gourmet breakfast. The food, service, and atmosphere are wonderful. The historic main house is quaint yet luxurious. A great spot to relax, have a homemade cookie, and sit by the fireplace….or outside by the fire pit. I would recommend enjoying a meal at the J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern. Each year we stay in a Woodland Suite…love the fireplace and terrace. All the amenities are high end. There is an attention to detail that is extraordinary. The added pool amenities are a great feature. The staff is so personable and attentive to every need. They each clearly are passionate about working at HMF. Already looking forward to our stay next year.

This was a perfect couples getaway! We were here celebrating my 30th birthday. The property and the room were beautiful and well maintained, the food was delicious, but the staff really make this experience top tier. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. We hope to come back some day! Thank you to Half Mile Farm for the amazing birthday getaway.

Absolutely magical stay at Half-Mile Farm! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The setting is serene and breathtaking, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and every detail is thoughtfully curated for a relaxing, luxurious experience. The service? Beyond incredible. Every staff member we encountered was warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. A special shoutout to Adrian, who gave us an amazing tour of the grounds—his knowledge, passion, and hospitality truly elevated our experience. If you’re looking for a perfect blend of Southern charm, natural beauty, and world-class service, Half-Mile Farm is it. We can’t wait to come back!

Half Mile Farm is by far the best property we’ve ever stayed at! Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. The service was top notch - everyone was so attentive and helpful and accommodating. The room was amazing - cozy meets luxury and you never wanna leave!! It was an amazing experience for our babymoon.

Another wonderful stay at Half Mile Farm! This place is such a special place located in the heart of Highlands. It is quaint, like it's set back in time, but has ALL the luxurious amenities and MORE! The service is excellent. A special thank you to Vivian, Juan, and Flavia! We enjoyed a lovely getaway and can't wait to return.

Stayed here for our 45th anniversary in February. Loved it, very special. The main dining hall had the Super Bowl on and the couples staying were great company. The hotel staff were all very friendly. We will be back!

If I could give 3.5 I would. This hotel is right outside of Highlands, NC and has a lot to offer. It was a bit of a mixed experience for me. The grounds are absolutely stunning—lush, serene, and a beautiful place to relax and unwind - half manicured to perfect, half wild, natural, and fun. The service was exceptional as well; the staff went out of their way to make sure I felt welcome and taken care of during my stay.||However, I did find my room to be a bit drab and the noise from nearby rooms/hallway was a bit disruptive. As a solo traveler, it was more noticeable, but I can see how this might not be an issue for others, especially if you're not as sensitive to noise.||Despite this, I would definitely consider returning with my wife. I think with a request for a quieter room, it could make for a much more peaceful stay. The location, the grounds, and the excellent service all make it a place worth considering, but I’d choose my room more carefully next time.

Yelp
"Bees blew like cake-crumbs through the golden air, white butterflies like sugared wafers, and when it wasn't raining a diamond dust took over which veiled and yet magnified all things." ~Laurie Lee, Cider with Rosie - Rarely have I found... Rarely have I had such a magnificent experience. Yes, it was the experience, not just any one thing but the compilation of and the consistency of all of the things. I remember the pastoral beauty of the Farm when we arrived. I remember being greeted and escorted to the lobby and being welcomed with a glass of champagne. I remember the ease of the check-in process. I remember our cozy, spectacular room with heated bathroom floors. I remember our beautiful, delicious breakfasts and being almost able to reach out and touch a forest leaf. I remember our sweet conversations with Kelly, the assistant manager. I remember laughing with Blake the charming bartender in the beautiful bar. I remember Paige, the manager, checking in on us making sure everything was extraordinarily. I remember the beautiful reflections off the peaceful water of Apple Lake. I remember the quaint, beautiful garden. I remember hoping to see the mother bear and her cubs. I remember our experiences fondly, you see, and that should tell you everything.

Yelp
There is not a negative word that can be said about this property. Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. The food was absolutely amazing. My mother and I stayed over Thanksgiving and had the pleasure of having a 3-course dinner of Thanksgiving Day. Wow is all I can say! The room was so incredibly cozy that it was difficult for me to wake up in the mornings. The property could not have been more picturesque. I felt like I was in a snow globe. Will definitely be back MANY times.

Yelp
I discovered this treasure through TikTok! I told my husband about it and we booked it for a short get away. Half-Mile Farm is a beautiful property nestled in the mountains of Highlands, NC. We arrived on Friday and just driving onto the property was tranquil and serene. We parked in registration parking and came inside to register. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne and given a shirt tour of the main house. There was a musical artist playing the acoustic guitar and couples enjoying the music and ambiance on the porch. There are two ponds, bike and walking trails (bikes provided), cabins, suites and rooms in the main house that are more like bed and breakfast rooms. As you can see from the pictures...the property is beautiful and perfectly decorated. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Our room was beautiful and had a great view. There are so many great shops and restaurants downtown you can park your car and enjoy a lovely walk and shopping. One of the most impressive things for me was when the servers came to our breakfast table, she noted my food allergies and made sure to avoid giving me food that would make me sick. Highland is in a great location!!!! It's not far from Ga, TN or SC. We took time to drive over to Harrah's in Cherokee and spent a few hours at the casino. Overall this was a great staycation! We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
What a beautiful property for a restful getaway! The chef prepared breakfast was phenomenal and the service from all the staff was amazing!

Yelp
Half Mile Farm is a wonderful spot run by the Old Edwards group. It has a beautiful location 5 minutes from Highlands downtown and offers a shuttle service that makes going to Madisons for an evening meal very convenient. There is a cute little bar has great bartenders and happy hour every night. The entire staff is caring & friendly. Included breakfast service every morning in the beautiful dining area was first rate. A calm relaxing retreat for adults, since children are generally not permitted.

Yelp
Fabulous...so relaxing and very responsive staff. This is a have to location. Outstanding bar and the food is awesome.

Yelp
This delightful spot should be called "Extra-Mile farm" because that's what the lovely hosts did for us--they went the extra mile in every way! I am ashamed to admit that I had never heard of Old Edwards Inn prior to researching Highlands and I honestly didn't understand the buzz. So while perusing google and Trip Advisor I learned of Old Edwards and it's reputation for excellence, then heard of a sister property they owned called Half-Mile Farm. I booked it on the spot and then promptly forgot about everything I had seen. Fast forward one month later to our drive up the rocky road and in front of us appeared a gorgeous white farm house with sweeping lawn, pond with boats, and gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge mountains. This was where we were staying?! Upon arrival, we were greeted with cocktails and a tour of the property, which includes a "Garden House" bordered by a grape arbor, pool encircled by apple trees, and that same pond with canoes to use. The main house has a breakfast room which can be open-air in nice weather and has complimentary hors d'oeurves from 5pm-6pm. There is a full bar, as well, that also serves light bites. There are two seating areas in the main house and one in the Garden House with comfortable chairs and fire places and games. Outside, there is a front porch with live music select nights, corn hole, croquet by the garden house, and bocce ball by the pool. In the evenings, the staff shuttle the guests hourly to downtown Highlands for dinner so there is no need to worry about parking or about that extra cocktail! Beginning at dusk, there is a fire in the fire pit encircled by Adirondack benches and blankets to use. There was plenty of firewood for a do-it-yourself fire or for the attendants to help with. Our first night I decided on a whim that s'mores sounded nice and asked Chris at the bar and Chris at the front desk (yes, two Chrises!) and they brought them out on request! They were so willing to make our stay perfect. Our room was one of the queen rooms in the main house and was extremely comfortable and had an up to date bathroom and shower. Boutique bath products were available, as well as an in-room Nespresso. Breakfast was served daily and is included in the stay. It was absolutely delicious and we were served by two incredible hosts! I can't talk enough about how kind and hospitable the staff were and how committed they are to providing excellent stays for their guests. We were blown away by Half-Mile Farm and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Super cozy room and fabulous shower! So many thoughtful amenities including super comfy robe. I picked up my breakfast to go and it was delicious as well. All staff friendly and helpful. I was in the area on business and have already booked here for my next business trip in March. And will definitely be back for a pleasure only trip as well.

Yelp
I've seen reviews that the service isn't good here, but the truth couldn't be more opposite! These folks went ABOVE and BEYOND for us due to a scheduling mistake on our part--thanks again for all of your help. When it was our appropriate time, they checked us in with glasses of champagne and the warmest hospitality. We were given a tour of the main area and then shown to our room (they carried the luggage), where we were also shown all of the room's amenities--which were plentiful and so appreciated. We stayed in an upstairs room facing the woods--the view was incredible, and the room was quiet and so comfortable/cozy. The bathroom is incredible with heated floors, a heated towel rack, a big tub, and a truly glorious shower and aromatherapy toiletries. The little tavern attached had good food and drinks selection (also delicious on both counts), and the service was again impeccable. The breakfasts were delicious, with fantastic service. The staff was very helpful with local attractions--in particular we were there for hiking. We had done our own research in advance, but their local knowledge was also very helpful. If you twisted my arm and made me pick a negative I guess I would say it is the lack of mask-wearing by the staff. Though we are vaccinated/boosted (and hopefully they all are too), it seems safer to wear a mask when interacting with the public. This is super nit-picky though. In all we had an excellent time and we will 100% be back!

Yelp
Beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful place to stay! A perfect weekend getaway for any occasion, but it was extra special as we stayed for our anniversary. Amazing hospitality starting from the welcome champagne at check-in, afternoon appetizers from 5-6 pm everyday, cookies all day long, and breakfast served every morning. We can't wait to come back again soon!!

Yelp
I agree that this property is lovely, however, we had an odd experience there yesterday. We drove up from the Lake Keowee area for a Saturday morning hike in Highlands and thought we could grab lunch at the J. Henry Tavern afterwards. Once we arrived at the Half-Mile Farm property, it was obvious that they were preparing for a private event of some sort. Since we had never been to this resort before, we were unsure if only a portion of the resort was closed off to the public and perhaps the tavern restaurant was still open for business, etc. We were promptly "greeted" by a young lady who worked there and who seemed quite perturbed that we were there. I explained that we were wondering if the J. Henry Tavern was open for lunch. She said that all of their restaurants are only available to hotel guests and not the public. (By the way, I did not see this important business aspect stated anywhere on the Half-Mile Farm website.) She also stated that the entire resort was closed that day due to an upcoming private event. I apologized for our misunderstanding and we promptly turned and walked back to our vehicle in the parking lot to leave. The young lady walked behind us the entire way back to the parking lot and watched us pull out, as if she were escorting us off the property. We found this treatment very rude and completely unnecessary. If this resort doesn't want patrons other than those staying at the property coming to its restaurants, it really needs to advertise that. We drove out of our way to go there for a bite to eat and were treated like culprits. Prior to this experience, we were planning a getaway stay at the Half-Mile Farm but will definitely be looking elsewhere now.

Yelp
I really, really wanted to give this place more stars. I heard/read wonderful things about Half-Mile Farm from several people including a local radio host and a couple of famous fashion bloggers on Instagram. I will say, the farm is absolutely beautiful. Our guest room had a romantic, rustic-luxe decor, and our balcony had a view of the courtyard and lake. The updated bathroom included a large, gorgeous marble shower. It was equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, bath salt, etc. but only ONE toilet paper! We requested for more and they brought us more within minutes. The staff members were pleasant and friendly for the most part. We experienced this upon arriving. A nice young gentleman, Yuan helped us during check in and brought our luggage to our rooms. We caught the tail end of the complimentary hors d'oeuvres reception/social hour, but were able to try each food item. The Main House's dining room had a nice spread of 2-3 different baked brie cheese dishes as well as mini quiches, fruit, dip, and crackers. They also had a small selection of white and red wines. The baked brie cheeses were delicious. I especially liked the one with brown sugar and another one with fig. However, we experienced less than 5-star service on a couple of occasions during our stay. Yuan informed us that the front desk can help us make dinner reservations off site since they don't have a dinner restaurant onsite. He gave us a list of maybe 10 restaurants and highlighted the restaurants that were available that night. Since we arrived after 5pm, we had limited options so we decided to take advantage of their offer to make a reservation for us. We went back and forth with the lady at the front desk for a while because the majority of the restaurants were either closed for the season or fully booked for the night. She finally informed us that our only options were a grocery store and a pub. My S.O and I were not satisfied with that, so I took it upon myself to call other restaurants in the area. I was fortunate enough to get a reservation at Meritage Bistro, just a couple miles away from the farm. Meritage was NOT busy that night. Hmm... When I checked the restaurant list we were given, Meritage was one of them. That led us to believe that the lady at the front desk did not exhaust all our options and decided to just give us the pub or grocery store option. I guess it was too inconvenient for her. The following morning I wanted to sleep in. My S.O. woke up early and offered to get me Nespresso coffee offered from 7am daily as listed in their activities sheet. He went to the front desk to inquire and the lady (not the same as the previous night) told him that they do not offer Nespresso there, and that we had our own Nespresso machine in our room. We did have a Nespresso machine in our room, but we were under the impression they listed Nespresso on their activities sheet for a special reason. Otherwise, we would have just used the machine in our own room. He called me from the front desk and told me what the lady said. I reminded him that it was listed on their daily activities sheet. After going back and forth for a few minutes, the lady at the front desk finally said, "We do have a Nespresso machine in the Garden House." That was the answer he was searching for this whole time! We expected a "luxury country inn" to have their staff trained and informed on their own daily activities. By then, I was was wide awake and decided to go to the Garden House with him for this Nespresso "event." That turned out to be a waste of time. The Garden House did have a machine, bigger than the one we had in our room. That was it. There was no attendant available. It was self serve. No milk frother machine or special additions. To top it off, the machine was jammed by the pods. We couldn't even use it. What was the point of listing that on the daily activities sheet? The Garden Room was nice. I liked the fireplace and the beautiful seating and decor. I just wish we could have enjoyed a cup of Nespresso by the fire. We decided to go to the Main House for breakfast and hopefully some fresh coffee. We returned to the same dining hall we went to the night before. The tables were set up nicely. One of the staff members greeted us, explained the menu items, and took our drink orders (fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and coffee, finally!) The chef prepared a Mixed Berry Clafoutis as a starter and a Spinach Shiitake Mushroom Quiche with Cured Ham and Homestyle Potatoes for the main entree. Both were fresh and absolutely delicious! The clafoutis was like dessert and I will take my dessert first ANY day! Satisfying breakfast. We had exceptional service in the dining room both times. Staff there were knowledgeable and helpful. We asked to check out later, at 2pm and were granted that. Check in and check out went smoothly. I would like to return again, but not anytime soon. I am hoping their service and employee training will improve with time.

Yelp
If you're looking for little piece of heaven on earth, look no further. From the reception at check in with glass of champagne and tour of the property, to the 5 star accommodations and spa it's top notch all the way. The staff is very professional , welcoming and friendly, willing to help make your stay most relaxing and enjoyable . The spa and my massage were amazing. As a massage therapist I'm pretty critical and it was better than expected and absolutely sublime. Relieved my aches and pains, making the rest of our weekend so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely will be back...

Yelp
We selected this Inn for a quick two night getaway. From our arrival until our departure, everything was perfect. The staff are perfectly friendly all the while maintaining a professional composure. The chefs choice breakfasts were outstanding as were the always available delicious cookies. We had a superb BLT in the bar one evening as we opted not to dine in the chaos of Highlands. The canoes, paddle boards, and bicycles were in outstanding condition and readily available. The pool and hot tub area is lovely and well kept. I think, beside the high quality accommodations and guest services, what we enjoyed the most was the type of crowd this Inn attracts. Rarely do we find a wonderful place where the guests are also remarkably friendly and pleasant. We love this place and are pleased to have found our new getaway. Lastly, if you are an uppity snoot, stay in Highlands. Don't come here and ruin a magical place....

Yelp
Love this cosy Highlands retreat with amazing service from the champagne greeting to delicious the chef-made breakfast. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and it was a great decision. It was very relaxing sitting on the porch of the main house and staying in the cute upscale log cabin with an indoor fireplace. Half-mile is priced well - perfect value for your money and incredible experience!

Yelp
Highlands is beautiful. A serene mountain town, but more how I would imagine somewhere like Nantuket than just across the GA border in the hills of NC. No banjos. No moonshine. No squeeling. Just peace and quiet. The always amazing Devon O. finally got her matrimony on last weekend and this facility was the perfect place to make her dream wedding a reality. They do events pretty well and the property is gorgeous. The main house and adjacent buildings all have hotel rooms with big beds, spa tubs, hardwood floors, a tv and DVD player (they have videos in the main house that you can borrow to watch in your room), and a balcony. In the morning all you have to do is step downstairs to their breakfast room and someone serves you a hot, delicious meal as soon as you're seated. In the afternoon they have wine and light appetizers in the main house and on the patio. Oh, and free Wi-Fi! That became even more useful when I realized I didn't get cell service up there. I would have gone nuts without a phone all weekend, but I was able to use it through the Wi-Fi connection. I loved my room in the main house, but Devon and a lot of her extended family were in cabins. These are not normal cabins. They're actual buildings that were constructed decades ago and relocated here. I was extremely impressed at how well they were restored and modernized without losing their authenticity. Very cool. This place epitomizes everything that's wonderful about Highlands. The local wild flowers were all in bloom. The sparkling lake is dotted with lily pads. Everyone who works here is pleasant, but there were times when I felt like they could have done a little more. There is a concession area with beverages and snacks near the rooms. According to their guest information sheets it's available 24 hours a day. That wasn't the case during our weekend as it seemed like they stocked it on Friday and then forgot about it. I checked a few more times (the trail mix was awesome) and it was completely bare. Not really a big deal. Just something that I would have expected them to handle better. They also don't take American Express, so be sure to bring a Visa or Mastercard even if you already paid for your room. They swipe it and hold $25 for incidentals. Since there isn't a mini bar and they have free refreshments, I wasn't sure what that might be. Apparently that's in case you buy a cookbook or something. Checking out is kind of chaotic. I mean, I had all morning to get ready, but I still felt rushed. You have to be out by 11 and if you're not they come into your room anyway. I was packing a few things when someone used a key to open my locked door without knocking. I don't do surprise visitors well, especially when I'm a paying guest. The turn down service kind of surprised me too. I wasn't expecting it (I thought you had to request service), so when I came back to my room and saw my bed made I felt some sort of way. I had my laptop out and clothes strewn everywhere. If I had known someone was coming I would have cleaned up a little (as I did the next day). They also come make your bed while you're at breakfast. I appreciated coming back upstairs to a spruced up room. Everything here is high end and you can expect to pay for it. I think the cheapest room rate I saw was $255 a night. Depending on your circumstances that might be a small price to pay for a weekend of relaxation. I know I enjoyed my weekend here.

Yelp
The place is incredible. Our stay was very good. Highlands and the WNC area is absolutely amazing. The Old Edwards Inn properties are definitely top shelf and the measuring stick that everyone else gets judged by. Grounds and maintenance were immaculate, in spite of steady rain during our stay. The yard maintainers were out there in pouring rain. Impressive. Only detractor from our trip (and the reason for 4 stars) was the lady at the front desk of Half Mile Farm. Cheryl, maybe? Not completely sure of her name. She just seemed to be a grumpy person. From her opinion of "proper mask etiquette" (and then disparaging us loudly to other staff members after she thought we were gone) to picking times for breakfast and even checking out, she just didn't seem to be the best person to put in that spot. I guess times are tough, though. Maybe they need to let her do yard work in the rain for a week or two! Regardless, we'll be back again soon and we'll still love this place and the area. Grumpy Cheryl won't run us off!

Yelp
My sister and I had the greatest time here together as we celebrated her birthday. It was so relaxing and the staff was incredibly accommodating. We were taken especially good care of by Sherry, who jumped at the chance to help us anytime we needed something big or small. The cherry on top was the gorgeous outdoor scenery and beautifully designed interiors!

Patricia S.

Yelp
The property is situated in a beautiful location, accommodations were reasonably appointed, unfortunately the demeanor of Kate the owner could be described as anything but accommodating. She insinuated herself into the role of the wedding coordinator despite the fact we already had our own we had worked with exclusively since preparations began. Kate's behavior was intrusive at best and obnoxious and obstructive at worst, constantly butting heads with our wedding coordinator and vendors. Her territorial behavior was so bad at one point after the wedding she refused to allow the caterer to store hundreds of dollars worth of left over food in the venue's refrigerators, leaving the parents of the bride to come up with a solution of their own. Kate's unprofessional behavior knew no bounds, even going so far as to insist that it was "immediately mandatory" that my car be moved. The car was not parked illegally, or in a fire lane or other dangerous location, so I cannot begin to comprehend how she could justify this request considering the ceremony had already begun and someone was sent up the aisle to inform me of Kate's demand. For a venue that boasts of providing "Quiet beauty and graceful hospitality" they missed the mark so badly on the second part, it is virtually impossible to even notice the first part.

Yelp
We really enjoy this inn. The view from the porch is majestic. This our third stay here and plab to coem back every year.

Yelp
Half-Mile Farm was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were stunning - up in the mountains with refurbished wood cabins alongside a little fishing pond and plenty of fresh air and quiet. The main house was cozy but elegant. Our room had a gorgeous view of the mountain woods from a private balcony, a big whirlpool bath, comfortable king bed and a fireplace right in the room. The staff was warm, friendly, and accommodating. We liked it so much we extended our stay one more night!

Jamie N.

Yelp
Our daughter got married at Inn at Half-Mile Farm on the 21st of September and it was an absolutely perfect event and venue! My daughter and I first saw the Inn in March and immediately fell in love with the scenery, views, Kate and her wonderful staff! Kate asked us how we wanted the weekend to progress since the rehearsal and dinner and wedding/reception were both taking place at the Inn at Half-Mile Farm. Bride, Groom, MOB and FOB and Kate went through the events step by step. Kate promised us it would be as we wished and she did not let us down one bit. Kate, Wendy, Jason, Vivian, Carol and the rest of the staff could not have been more accommodating. (And Jason's breakfasts were amazing!). Since the Inn at Half-Mile Farm was built in the early 1800's, it is understandable why Kate and staff make sure it is beautifully and safely taken care of by having certain rules for the events they host (example: not having open flames anywhere or scented candles). Votives and hurricanes were used and the ambience was wonderful. I have to give huge kudos also to our caterer(Kate recommended since they are allowed to use her kitchen-again a show of how Kate respects and takes care of the Inn) Tim Lundy, owner of Distinctive Design Events, did a beautiful setup and an unbelievable menu. Filet you literally could cut with a fork, shrimp and grits as just an example. Friends of ours who truly never go for more food were at the buffet more than once! I also, want to say that the flowers done by Eatherly, owner of Floressence Flowers in Brevard were arrangements you would never forget! The workmanship on the florals as well as the freshness of the flowers themselves were exceptional. We felt that the value of the venue, catering and flowers far exceeded the actual amount we paid! Sunday morning, none of our guest wanted to leave because the Inn at Half-Mile Farm is so beautiful and relaxing. I highly recommend coming and enjoying the peace and quiet for a weekend, day or having an special event there!! And did I mention that it poured down rain all day on the wedding day? And it didn't matter because Kate's plan "B" was probably more intimate of a wedding than originally planned. Thank you to all at Half-Mile Inn for memorable Wedding Weekend!!

Yelp
My husband and I recently celebrated our 2 year anniversary at the Inn. This is our 2nd stay, as we celebrated our engagement here as well. We had a fabulous time. Breakfast was AMAZING and the service was fantastic. The Inn was very helpful in arranging our anniversary dinner reservation and recommended an amazing restaurant, Cyprus. If you can't relax and enjoy your time here, then you can't relax anywhere. The flowers were blooming and the weather was gorgeous. We couldn't be happier with our choice, The Inn at Half Mile Farm.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Inn and it was the most wonderful, peaceful place. The food was great, our room was very nice, clean and the service was great. I am very picky when I travel and stay at higher end hotels, like the Plaza in NYC. We enjoyed the setting, sitting on the porch in the evening and having a glass of wine seeing the wildlife and the beautiful flowers. I would return to the Inn at Half Mile in a heartbeat and hope to spend my 30th anniversary there as well. Thank you Abby and Chuck Kline

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Inn for my birthday and it was Just perfect! We stayed in the Grassy Creek Falls room in the courtyard building and absolutely loved it. It was December and lightly snowing (and FREEZING!) outside but the fireplace made our room so cozy and warm. Everyone we encountered at the Inn was so friendly and helpful and our breakfast was great. There was a small wedding there that weekend and I thought to myself what a perfect place for a wedding! Downtown Highlands was decorated for Christmas and we had such fun browsing the shops, having a great dinner, and just taking a moment away from the hectic holiday schedule and then returning to our beautifully decorated room. I would highly recommend the Inn and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The Inn at Half Mile Farm was amazing! My husband and I attended a wedding at the Inn and felt like we were treated like family. They anticipated our every need and were very accommodating. There was so much to do at the Inn and the surrounding areas of the Highlands and Cashiers. We look forward to returning every year and experiencing the beauty and hospitality of the Inn at Half Mile Farm.

Yelp
What a place! We attended a wedding here September 20th, 2013. We stayed in the main house. I cannot stay enough about Inn at Half-Mile farm. The property was gorgeous, the staff was extremely hospitable and the food and amenities were wonderful. I don't want to focus on the negative 1 star review but feel I need to comment on it... no doubt, Kate runs a tight ship. However, to be this successful in an extremely competitive B &B and/or wedding venue business, I don't know how you can be successful without "running the show." As a close friend of the bride, I had many interactions with Kate. Her intentions were for the happiness of the bride... she did an amazing job running the show and making sure all the guests were happy. Kudos to half mile farm, they're doing a great job and I would definitely come back! Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

Yelp
I was not impressed with the rooms or the cabin for the prices they charge. Owner is very pleased with herself--found her to be arrogant and inflexible. While breakfasts are tasty, they don't ask you if there's something you can't eat or don't like. I would not go back.
